• The pool area was not of the caliber you would expect from this hotel chain.

• Beautiful view overlooking Mississippi River, very comfortable and inviting room. Nice pool and fitness facilities.
• We liked everything about our hotel. Great stay.

“The room was very nice and good quality linens, sleep number bed. The room was quiet and very clean. The pool was well kept and good sized. The fitness room included treadmill, elliptical machine, free weights and a weight machine. I'd definitely stay there again.”

• Location.

“First night our handicapped room was very noisy and lacked the amenities that should have been there. They moved us the second night to a nicer place. In both the bathrooms need updating and the showers had next to no pressure.”

• Hotel staff was helpful and willing to assist our needs in
  every way.

“Excellent staff from the bell boy, to check in staff to concerierge and so on. Very willing to assist us. Genuinely seemed appreciative that we were staying there. Great location along the Mississippi river and was connected to the sky walk system in St Paul. Rooms were cleanly and updated. Quiet. All the things one looks for in a stay away from home.”

• You had to pay $18 per day for parking.

“Overall we had a great experience staying at this hotel. It was walking distance from many neat places, and they provided a courtesy shuttle to anywhere within 5 miles.”

• The beds were very comfy.
• Their parking does not accommodate SUVs, so forced to valet.

“Beds are very comfy. Room was small but clean and nicely decorated. Did not like that we had to valet park our car or park 3 blocks away to self park, as we have an SUV and does not fit in their parking.”

• It's right on the Mississippi River, great views and convenient to everything.
• WiFi connection is poor or non-existent.

• Downtown location overlooking the river was great.
• Parking. I still don't understand how it works. It was explained poorly at the desk.

• Nice view out of the 21 floor. The top floors are keyed to be off limits and I can see why.
• Over all sense of marginal insecurity. Would not want family with me here.

“Until they control the loitering, there is a sense of insecurity in the public spaces. I drove into the hotel parking and there were a couple teenagers sitting on the entrance structures just hanging out. Went on in and was greeted by a load shirking sound that concerned me. Got to the elevators where the sound was coming from and there was an about 7 year old boy just pounding away on the elevator buttons till they might break just playing with them and screaming. No one in the lower lobby seemed to hear him. Went down the open area, the lobby and pointed that out and was met with ambivalent surprise. Then since not another person was at the front desk, I asked for a wake up call and request was denied.”

• The bell hop was very nice.
• The parking ramp was 2 blocks away and the bathtub did not drain.

“First, we needed to park. We drove our minivan which was too tall for the 5'9" ramp. We had to park in another ramp. Then, I was met at the front desk by a very rude employee. We were told the hotel was overbooked. Our room was tiny and outdated. Our bathtub did not drain. The pool is in the middle of nowhere, definitely not a kid friendly place. We would definitely not stay here again.”

• I got a very nice clean room with a great view of the Mississippi River.
• Did not care for the pool area. Too open and was really looking for a hot tub to relax in.

“I have stayed there before for meetings and this time I was just passing through to another area for a meeting and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The bar had appetizer specials that were really reasonable and delicious. Would stay there again definitely!”

• Spectacular St. Paul river views and convenient downtown location.
• Housekeeping was haphazard. Clean enough but amenities strewn, towels not replaced etc.

“Crowne Plaza has been working on a renovation of this 40+ year old hotel for a couple years and is now virtually complete. There are still some funky things, but overall a great value with spectacular views and perfect St. Paul location.”

• Met needs of my family (5) after late check in and additional needs.
• Able to hear people talking next door rather easily. Only in hotel for 10 hours.

“Nice location and very nice hotel. Have stayed here a couple times and staff is always helpful accommodating my family with cribs and room of adequate size. I would recommend for a good place to stay for a weekend getaway b/c of the location to Downtown, and also good for a quick stopover.”

“This hotel exceeded my expectations for this trip. The entire hotel was spotless, great staff and the overall comfort of the room was unsurpassable. They gave you a sleep mask, ear plugs, relaxation CD and player and sleep number beds for exceptional comfort. The price was a fraction of the worth.”

• We were put on 1st floor next to the conference room - there was an event that started at 7am - it was LOUD - there was no sleeping through it.

“This was a wonderful location, beautiful lobby, comfortable rooms with the most comfortable beds ever. There were very few restaurants within walking distance that weren't insanely expensive.”

• Garage access to the hotel is difficult-had to walk down a ramp to find the door to the hotel. Poorly marked.

• Sleep number bed was outstanding. Front desk clerks were very enjoyable to interact with.
• Hotel's parking facility was filled, due to area sports event. Was able to park fairly close by.

“Great place to stay in a fun location, just right for business or leisure travelers. Room felt small due to the massive and unbelievably comfortable bed but was a perfect place to get away for a nice, restful sleep.”

• The Sleep Number bed was much better than the usual hotel mattress.
• Hotel provides only valet parking. Parking in the area was ridiculously expensive.

“The motel seemed good in the public areas. Our specific rooms however seemed to be located in the older and dirtier part of the building. The rooms were dimly lit and there were stains on the carpet.”

• Indoor pool. Hotel attractive. Rooms pretty large.
• Room above noisy garage, housekeeping came in while privacy sign on door. Husband in shower as she walked into to bathroom. Dirty socks in drawer.

“Staff was not friendly when we asked to change rooms because of garage noise all night long. We were changed to a nicer room 1st room was off the garage in a corner of the hotel. Housekeeping entered room with privacy note hanging on door. Very disappointed with Crown Plaza. We had stayed in a Crown Plaza in Milwaukee and were extremely satisfied with this hotel.”

• Was very clean and close enough to walk to the excel center for the wilds game.
• Didn't like that we had to park across the street in a ramp and had to pay for it.

“We went to the cities for the Wilds game and got a good rate. It was close enough to walk to the game. They had valet parking but it was piled deep with cars waiting when we got there. Parked across the street in ramp parking and had to pay, but also would of had to pay for the valet and tip. Overall the rooms were clean and big. Would go back again for sure.”

“Overall, the stay was great -- especially for the value paid. The only downside is the parking ramp does not accommodate vehicles over 5'9" and even so, parking is $14/day for self-park and $18 for valet.”

• Decent location - free drink in lounge w/ticket stub.
• Had to park in a different ramp further from hotel due to vehicle size.

“Parking was stated to be $12.50 - everyone in our party paid $16 to park - we had to park our vehicle in a different parking ramp a couple blocks away since it was an SUV - not real convenient when you have luggage, etc. Hotel was fine - customer service good.”

• I was in town to attend an even at the Excel Center, so the hotel was in great location for me.
• The restaurants and room service does not operate very late, so we were unable to ear following the concert.

“Very nice hotel. The rooms were wonderful. I enjoyed the Sleep Number beds. Located within walking distance of the Excel Energy Center.”

“The hotel overall was very nice. I would definitely stay there again. My only complaint was that their parking ramp had a very low clearance and our SUV would not fit. We had to park a few blocks away and pay for parking.”

• I liked that it was located .4 miles away from the Xcel Center.
• Staff, guests, smoky room, have to pay to park.

“Hotel was located in a convenient location. We did not have a great experience though. The parking was terrible in the ramp. 1-1/2 inch clearance on a minivan and you had to pay to park! Was given a smoking room, it smelled so bad had to go to front desk to get different room. The lounge/bar service was horrible. Did not get waited on. Stood at bar for 20 minutes and was not acknowledged yet while the group right next to us got served 2 times within that 20 minutes. We left. Rooms are definitely not sound proof. Doors were slamming and drunk people meandering loudly throughout the hallways from midnight to 430am. Complained and nothing was done. Would not recommend staying here unless you are here to party. 2 hours of sleep was max that we got.”
