“The location of this hotel is great, needs multiple updates and a good cleaning. We had 2 rooms that both had issues with the ceilings. Air conditioner not working. Just not up to date. The cleaning lady needs to clean the whole room not just change the sheets.”

• Right off the highway, easy to find.
• No restaurant in the hotel, had to go to another hotel across the street for dinner.

• The breakfast definitely saved it for me. This hotel gave the best complimentary breakfast, I have seen for a moderate hotel. The staff was also good.
• The overall experience was terrible. The rooms were freezing and the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. No heat.

“You might as well find a better place closer to Boston (or stay at the Westin just across the street). Sure, the breakfast was great - I'll give it that. But I'm sure I could have an even better breakfast at an IHOP and stay at a better hotel all for less than what the Holiday Inn Express charged me. It was certainly disappointing. On the plus side though, the staff was very kind and attentive to your needs.”

• No swimming pool, but know this is a business travel hotel.

“Easy to get in and out of Boston from the hotel, right off the highway (but no noise from the traffic), great continental breakfast. We stayed in the main building, so I'm not sure about noise from the other buildings. We would stay again.”

• There was not enough hot water to take a shower at 7:30am. There was later, but not when I wanted it.

“We had a pleasant stay. Got in late Saturday night and noticed the hotel was crowded with high school kids in town for sporting events. We were worried about the noise since we were traveling with two small children but to our surprise we didn't hear a thing! Staff was pleasant even after our son locked us out of our room twice.”

• Nice room, comfy bed, internet access.
• Wake-Up Call system failed! We almost missed our conference presentation.

“The Wake-Up Call system did not work. My colleague and I left 2 wake-up calls (by talking to a person at the front desk), and did not receive a single call. We almost missed the presentation we were giving at a regional conference. We requested reimbursement or some type of compensation and the manager was certainly not accommodating. She finally agreed to give us 10,000 Holiday Inn points, which basically gets you nothing. I was extremely disappointed with their non-caring attitude / lack of interest in customer satisfaction. I will have be hard pressed to stay at a Holiday Inn again. If they had just been a little nicer, I would have walked away happy (even after they caused a great deal of distress as I had to race to my conference).”

• I liked the furniture, beds, lights, in the hotel room.
• We heard each time when the front door was closed.

“Located on I 95, the hotel has a noisy vicinity It has restaurants in the neighborhood, beside the hotel. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We had breakfast as a bonus. We really liked the furniture and the comfortable beds. We had a lot of fun in front of the TV.”

• What we liked the most is that it was easy to locate, clean, and the breakfast was good.
• It was somewhat isolated--only near other hotels & a gas station, nothing else within walking distance.

“Nice and clean, good continental breakfast, great shower. Overall very positive experience. One thing we had a problem with: we did not stay in the main building (which is $5 more for what seems to be the same room). We checked in at the same time as a couple who WAS staying in the main building, and the staff was considerably friendlier and nicer to them than to us.”

• Excellent continental breakfast. And the beds were comfortable, unlike so many motels these days.
• Stairs can be difficult if you have lots of luggage, but this is a minor consideration.

“Hotels in Boston are pricey. This hotel in Waltham is a reasonable alternative. It's nice, clean, and the breakfast is better than most. The beds are also better than most. I already recommended this hotel to my in-laws looking for a Boston area hotel for their daughter's graduation from BC next year.”

• Front desk staff was very nice. Upgraded me to a king non smoking room in the main building since they needed my double bed.
• Sheets on the bed were filthy. Covered in tiny hairs which was really disgusting. Some of the white towels were yellow.

“For the price I paid it was decent. Considering that room was going for $140 a night, filthy sheets on the bed and yellowing towels is unacceptable.”

• We ordered a folding cot days earlier ( for our 10-yr-old) They did not have one and couldn't find one. So he had to share our bed. Uncomfortable ..

“Good hotel, clean room, but we ordered a cot days earlier. When we got there at 1 AM, exhausted from a family wedding, they had no cot. We waited in our room for an hour while they searched for one. No luck. So our ten-year-old had to share our bed. It was very disappointing..”

• Directions to hotel were not very clear; got lost.

“Very convenient hotel for people with business on Rt 128, in Waltham or Watertown, or those who want to reach downtown Boston by parking at the Alewire T stop/garage (subway station and garage). Continental breakfast was provided; it was generous and sufficient to hold one until lunch. Hotel provides free wireless, but the reception in my room was terrible, though I was able to get on the Internet in the hotel's "great room."The hotel is somewhat dated but adequate overall - especially for the price.”

• The man who was fixing my broken hairdryer convinced me to let him continue working when I wanted to change and leave. Room door needs paint.

• was sort of like a dorm/military feeling; no convenient ice machine

“Have stayed in other Holiday Inn Express Hotels---that were more comfortable;no problem with requesting a refrig./microwave (this holiday inn express refused option of refrig./microwave). Felt as if I was staying in a dorm or military compound. The door pass key was inactivated before I checked out, had a difficult time trying to get in and out to pack up the car. Was given a bill with a "Balance Due", which I had to take to the front desk. They corrected,but told me that they "could not" give me a receipt with the balance of "0"! The room needed repairs esp. in the bathroom (i.e. chipped paint; etc.). Unless necessary, I would probably not "choose or recommend" this particular Holiday Inn Express--as I had much more comfortable and kind experiences in other ones in the area. Overall, I can just say :"It served the purpose" for the business trip.”

• The location was close to the highway and the breakfast was great.
• The room was tiny, air conditioner was really loud and towels were scratchy and dirty.

“The hotel is conveniently located in Waltham, MA, right off of the highway. The signage is adequate to find it and it is visible from the highway. The staff was pleasant and professional, and checked me in quickly, with no hassle. The room was very small and the air conditioning unit was incredibly loud. Combined with the thin walls that made every noise and conversation in the hallway audible, it was a very noisy room. The door to the room stuck and was hard to close. It took some time to figure out that you needed to yank it with all your strength to get it to shut. The towels were scratchy and small, and had stains on them. It was kind of unpleasant to use them.The breakfast buffet was fantastic and the hotel gave free copies of the Boston Globe -- even the Sunday edition. All in all, I got what I paid for. I think the hotel should fix the doors and get new towels, but overall it was a good experience.”

• Good service, excellent free breakfast & coffee, well built and kept rooms.
• I have nothing to complain about.

“This hotel was functional. It had all the important things we needed and a few unexpected perks, for example an excellent complimentary breakfast and coffee all day. The staff was curtious and understanding. They allowed us to stay in our room a few hours later than the normal checkout with no hassles. The hotel seems well built; the rooms were quiet and well maintained. We have stayed at several hotels in the same area, and this was by far the best of the bunch.”
