“I will recommend this hotel for the people with pets and will gonna stay for short time only.” Sep 4, 2008 by

“I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.” Aug 3, 2008 by
Susan from New York, NY
“This eye of New England Inn has all the delightful charm, history, ghosts, and warmth that a traveler would desire. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. They were nicely decorated, as well. The tavern dining room was also lovely. It felt so good to flop into an over-stuffed, winged-back chair after a long, hot drive. Even though the waitresses were wonderful, the food was horrible. The kitchen needs revamping. Other than the cuisine, the public house was a grand spot to visit. I shall return and hope to stay longer.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Bill from Fair Lawn, NJ
“I stayed in the Motor lodge of the hotel. I requested a King bed on the first floor. I was given 2 double beds on the second floor. This Motor lodge is stuck in a 1960's time warp, and hasn't been updated since. The room was sparse on the amenities, shampoo but no conditioner, no hand towels, no coffeemaker. There was black mold on the tiles in the tub. The outdoor stairs, covered in tattered old outdoor carpeting, was covered in pine needles. There was no wireless internet, no high speed Ethernet, only dial-up. The flower boxes lining the upstairs walkway was pretty though. If they paid more attention to details and added what are normal amenities for this century, it would be a fun retro place to stay.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Judy from Acworth, GA
“The rooms were not updated in quite a while; the temperature was either too hot or freezing cold. The bathroom was not very clean and dark.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Karyn from Waterbury, CT
“The main building is quite attractive. The outlying motel buildings, where we stayed, are old and worn. The room was not clean enough to be comfortable. We found hair on the sheets and were happy to leave in the morning. Obviously, we would never stay there again, although the location is a good one.” Jul 4, 2008 by
Janice from Greenwich, CT
“This hotel was built in the 70's and they have done nothing to it, since they got there C.O. The main Inn seems quaint but, I never saw a room to judge. They gave me no problem about leaving.” Jul 3, 2008 by

“Horrible experience. Stayed after a wedding (at another location). Wedding was at 3, so was check in. Called to ask about early check in (about 1/2 hour early) and was denied. had to leave the wedding during cocktail hour to check in. Thought we were staying at the Inn. Nope. Stayed at the dumpy lodge. So out dated. Wallpaper is headache inducing, bathroom had dead bugs on counter and shower was tinged a lovely shade of yellow, beds were very uncomfortable, pillows rock hard. Aside from all this when we finally returned from the wedding, we couldn't get into the room! The lock was stuck. 15 minutes of jiggling finally worked. We get in and what do I find? a cockroach in the bathroom. We called down to the desk and they did agree to giving us a new room. But we had to go to them at 11:30 at night. We pack up and drive down to a less than pleasant greeting. Here's your new keys. That was it. No apology or attempt to make it right. We go back up to the new room and find caution tape to the right of the door. I was half expecting a chalk outline in the room. Needless to say I will never return to this dump. Things might be a bit different if they seemed to care. I've sent 2 emails and called and have yet to receive a response. Obviously not big on customer service.” Jun 30, 2008 by
Kent from Riverview, NB CA
“It was a great location, easy to find. The room was dated, but had a nice balcony. Pool looked good, but weather was not good for swimming. Room was dirty in bathroom and floor. Didn't want to remove footwear. Could not tell if bed was changed from previous occupant. Overall it was ok, but I don't know if I would stay there again.” Jun 15, 2008 by
Blair from Lee, NH
“Very nice and atypical of the homogenized places that I typically find. I enjoyed it a great deal.” Jun 6, 2008 by
Amy from Verbank, NY
“The customer service people were very friendly. When they found out that it was my husband's and my first anniversary they upgraded our room so that we were actually staying inside the original Inn.” May 25, 2008 by
Hallinan from Westernville, NY
“It was overall a good experience at a very well maintained historic old hotel. The desk clerk might have done a better job for some easily confused old folks.” Apr 28, 2008 by
Susan from Foristell, MO
“I would recommend this hotel very much. It was very clean and had breakfast muffins and coffee. The rooms where a little bigger than your average hotel room and had a balcony outside. Had nice pool. My kids loved it. The only thing I did not like was that the ice machine was not working good. But other than that Everything was wonderful! I would love to stay there again. We stayed at the moter lodge. I highly recommend this hotel!” Mar 4, 2008 by
David from Suffern, NY
“The room was nice, nothing special. Small bed, not the best mattress. Nice views of the snow; we were there during a snowstorm. Excellent restaurant.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Brenda from Springfield, MA
“I believe on the whole it was very pleasurable. The area around the Inn was very nice, the room was very comfortable and for the most part pretty clean. But most of all the staff was over the top friendly and helpful.” Feb 4, 2008 by
Brian from Somerset, MA
“Overall has good potential, great restaurant, needs room remodeling (carpets, update beds/mattresses. etc.), outside needs painting, Christmas tree in Feb. needs to be taken down, outside of premises needs attention (stone step dislodged, etc.) Staff friendly and helpful. With attention can be rated much higher.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Nicholas from Glenwood, NJ
“Wouldn't stay in this particular area of the hotel again. Not enough towels. Air conditioning didn't work well. Though front desk very friendly. Hadn't received our conformation, but accommodated us quickly. Restaurant was excellent.” Sep 3, 2007 by
Jared from Silver Spring, MD
“A dinky dump - two stars is overly generous” Aug 22, 2007 by
Abby from Gahanna, OH
“While the rooms at the Public House are nothing special (in fact, they are a bit mediocre), the ambience in the rest of the Inn is incomparable. The tavern where the free continental breakfast is served is amazing and the staff there and in the bakery was friendly and helpful. We explored all of the historic rooms in the main building and had a wonderful time strolling through the beautiful gardens.” Aug 20, 2007 by
Al from Laureldale, PA
“Excellent and affordable cuisine. Rooms were tastefully decorated and separate from the registration and dining rooms. Surrounding area was well-maintained and landscaped. Pool was spring-fed and therefore cold, but the pool area was well maintained. Great place for a New England vacation.” Jul 25, 2007 by
Karen from Glendale, RI
“Staff and main building were wonderful, the room was alright.” May 24, 2007 by
Leslie from Darien, GA
“The hotel was convenient to the sites we wished to see and easy to get to. It was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful.” May 16, 2007 by
Kathy from Pearl River, NY
“Extremely charming inn. The grounds are perfectly landscaped. The on-premises bake shop makes 5 star sticky buns which to my delight were included in the complimentary continental breakfast. The room was roomy and quite comfortable. There was a choice of about 30 cable channels available on the TV.” Feb 14, 2007 by
Michelle from Mattapoisett, MA
“We were booked in the old 60's motor lodge--the wallpaper was creepy.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 6, 2007 by

“This was a great hotel although it could use a through cleaning. My husband has an allergy to dust and his allergies were really acting up.” Nov 15, 2006 by
Tom from Ellicott City, MD
“I asked for a 2 or 3 star hotel in the area and was awarded the historic in (3 stars) for my price. When I arrived I was sent to the back motor lodge which is barely a one star. Can you say mold in the bathroom walls and ceiling? Toilet clogged. Thin walls... Oh so much fun.” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.Oct 2, 2006 by
Jack from Bettendorf, IA
“The Public House Inn is a quality place, but the adjacent motel is a typical sixties era "park in front of the door" cheap place. We thought we were getting a room at the Inn--not so! A real disappointment!”
