“Rooms were very well situated on a lake with a balcony - the price was very reasonable due to the big conventions they held.” Oct 12, 2009 by
Barry from Fair Haven,NJ
“Surprisingly nice hotel. Very clean, friendly staff, nice rooms and overall very attractive.” Oct 8, 2009 by
Joanne from Seekonk,MA “Despite their acknowledging that my room was prepaid, they still tried to charge me additional monies for the room. When I complained, they admitted their error.” Oct 1, 2009 by
Robert from South Windsor,CT
“I was disappointed. The bathroom was very small and old looking. Plus not modern. No fan and small sink. The curtains were sheer so you could see through them. This was bad. No privacy whatsoever. Plus restaurants were disappointing for such a large hotel.” May 18, 2009 by
Pam from Manchester, CT
“Although this property is in a wonderful location, I would not book another stay here. The Wi-Fi connection is shaky at best. The smell in my non-smoking room was a combination of an ashtray and sweat socks. The bathroom left a lot to be desired as the veneer on the cabinet was coming off due to over exposure to water. When you arrive at the hotel you are given a map of the property which is wonderful because without it you would not be able to find your way around. I will say that if you are lucky enough to have a room with a view of the lake or miniature golf course, you will at least have a decent view. I feel sorry for those that overlook the indoor pool - they have no idea what the weather is like and must hear every echo from the pool, spa and conversations of others passing by.” May 7, 2009 by
Rebekka from Boston,MA
“This hotel is a place for families. If you are looking for a place to stay for quiet this is not the place for you. My room faced on the patio where the pool was located. It was very loud. Also, there were no windows in my room. The gym had equipment that was so old it was unusable. There is free wireless internet in each room, but there is not place to plug your computer into the internet if you do not have wireless.” Feb 17, 2009 by
Arthur from Somers,NY
“Very handy location. Good facilities. A little dingy but worth it.” Jan 28, 2009 by
Tom from Columbus,OH
“A large inn with many rooms, a generous pool and spa area in the atrium, and comfortable rooms that is very quiet. I had dinner at the restaurant with a convenient entrance off of the lobby, but the food was nothing noteworthy.” Dec 1, 2008 by
Karen from Bradenton,FL
“The hotel is located a few blocks from the entrance to Old Sturbridge Village, which was the purpose of our trip, so it was very convenient. The weekend we were there, the hotel was hosting a craft fair and sale, which was open to the public. There were lines of people waiting to get in and lines of cars looking for parking spots. None of the parking was reserved for hotel guests, so coming and going was a big hassle, much like parking at a sports event. Rooms either overlook a nice lake or the hotel atrium, an enclosed space where the pool is located, as well as gathering areas. Unfortunately, this atrium was where many of the craft booths were set up, so the day before the fair all day long and well into the evening there was constant noise - people pushing dollies loaded with their wares and yelling to each other, children and teens running all over the place. When the fair opened to the public it was like being in the center of it all whether you wanted to or not, even with the sliding doors closed. Glaring lights all night long and a kind of circus-like atmosphere with all those people and the strong smell of kettle korn (or rather the oil they cook it in). There was a nice little balcony with chairs overlooking the atrium, which might have been nice had there not been this fair going on, a nice place to sit and relax and maybe have breakfast. I can only assume it was calm and peaceful in the rooms facing the lake. Apparently those rooms are more expensive. The outside doors were propped open by the exhibitors, so the interior hallways were very cold (it was in the 30s outside). This also made for a security issue, considering the hundreds of non-guests milling about the property. The room was very cold when we first got there, but comfortable once the heat kicked in, basically unmemorable. It could've been cleaner - I got the feeling they just barely put it together for each new guest.” Nov 12, 2008 by
Paulette from Beverly,MA
“We had a conference being held there. It was dark and dreary. I would not recommend this hotel for anything other than it being inexpensive with some amenities like the indoor pool for a family.

“Nice location on a lake with access to excellent dining nearby and access to Sturbridge Village within walking distance. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Dog friendly is appreciated.” Oct 29, 2008 by

“Great hotel. Very comfortable rooms and good staff. Also hotel is pet friendly, which is a plus. We have stayed at the hotel many times and our favorite time is the summer as we get to use the beach and the beautiful lake.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Larry from Quincy, MA
“This hotel is an older Sheraton style place with a large indoor courtyard that can be used as a function facility. The courtyard is surround on 3 sides by rooms on 2 level with a balcony or sliders to a patio. One end has of the courtyard has a pool, and the lobby end has an indoor restaurant. The room was good sized and looked like it was recently renovated. It had one of those new cup at a time coffee makers, but only one pod of regular and one of decaf. One of the 2 double beds had a better mattress so we used that one. The downside of rooms overlooking the courtyard is the noise. People were congregating out there until almost Midnight and we had to call the front desk twice before the people quieted down or went back to their rooms. On a good note, there was a torrential downpour of rain the evening of our stay and the front desk called us when part of their parking lot started flooding. I was able to move my car before the water rose enough to do damage. If you want quiet, I would recommend asking for a room that is not on the courtyard.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Neil from Belchertown, MA
“The hotel staff was extremely rude to my entire family, and made my wife cry twice. Room service food was absolutely FANTASTIC, when it finally arrived. Yet, even though I ordered room service twice a day for my entire three day stay, not once did the food come without forgetting something (twice they forgot silverware, and three times they forgot the drinks). The hotel has a ton of things for kids to do, including swimming and fishing and paddleboats on the lake. But if you're used to/expecting a Marriot-type setting (as we were) stay elsewhere. The entire hotel has a very rustic/hunting lodge feel to it. That, plus the fact that it is smack-dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere, and added with the hotel staff, adds up to my family, friends and I never returning to this particular hotel” Aug 25, 2008 by
Richel from Arlington, VA
“Needs a bit of updating in some of the rooms and should be non-smoking throughout.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Dawn from North Smithfield, RI
“Stains all over couch, they covered it with a sheet at my request. No cable, they said it wasn't their fault, it was the cable company. Restaurant was sold out of almost all entrees. Very Noisy, kept up until 3:20 AM. Broken patios doors, felt that belongings were not safe. Room stunk of cigarette smoke even though it was a non smoking room. The lobby was nice but the hotel was old and felt and smelled very unclean.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Arthur from Somers, NY
“Sprawling old semi-resort. Very low key. Often has events. For this stay, very nice cat show (hundreds of beautiful cats being judged) and outdoor Jaguar auto owners with about 80 stunning cars from 1930s to 2009.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Tom from Warsaw, NY
“Some updating and repair work was in order however.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Stephanie from Albany, NY
“It is a nice hotel, clean rooms, could use some updates but the worst part is the pool. In the center of the hotel is an indoor pool, indoor gazebo etc. Every single time I stay there - it is freezing and dirty. I stay at this hotel for business and because I have children.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Terry from Parkesburg, PA
“We really like staying at the Host when we are in the Sturbridge area (which is a lot). The only criticism: Can they please make sure the maids check the shower curtains? Ours was moldy in a spot under a fold. But - the new beds, carpet and baths are great - hopefully they will keep the nice new carpets clean in the pet rooms. There is nothing I hate more than dirty carpet and fleas! My dog doesn't have fleas, and I don't want them, either! Thanks!” May 27, 2008 by
Kevin from Lee, ME
“Very good for the money. Nice location, convenient to the interstate. Friendly staff.” May 25, 2008 by
Maureen from East Amherst, NY
“Great place to stay. Everything was as expected. Would like to have had more time to stay and enjoy the surroundings.” May 15, 2008 by
Beth from Clifton, MA
“Excellent location, very quaint historical setting, enjoyed the pool and lounge had live entertainment and decent food.” Apr 29, 2008 by
Shelva from Ames, IA
“Was a good place to stay, wonderful location, near all types of restaurants and shops. Liked the stay so much better than Worcester where we stayed 2 nights, so went back to Sturbridge Host for last night. We didn't have a computer and put it under the name of Hodges.” Apr 17, 2008 by
Beth from Little Egg Harbor, NJ
“I have been to this hotel with my husband and extended family before and never found it to be in such terrible shape. The first room we were given when I rolled down the quilt to sleep the quilt was very old and stained so I called the desk and the woman said we could have another room. That room was worse, but by then we were so tired from driving we tried to make it work! The blanket was dirty so we went out and bought a new one and lysol, the toilet would not flush, something was all over bathroom wall near toilet, the lightbulb in sitting area had a burned out bulb, the bathroom door knob was loose and the door did not shut all the way. The worse thing I think was the black mold inside on the top of the shower curtain and I have asthma and a lung condition and ended up with a sinus infection and the tub drain was hanging out with globs of hair stuck to it which I had to clean to use the shower. Overall a rotten three days. The first three days in Sturbridge we stayed at the Comfort Inn across the street and that was just terrific in every way a fantastic experience.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Francine from Lititz, PA
“This hotel is well past its prime, It is very run down in public areas (doors, hallways). Floors of both dining areas were filthy and my feet stuck to the floor. The whole place needs a thorough cleaning. Moved a chair to look at the lake view and there were potatoes chips underneath it; moved the TV to see from desk and loads of dust came with it. Tub walls were left with drips from the previous person's shampoo (red) that were down the entire side - so obvious the maid should have noticed. A disgusting run down hotel. Service non-existent in the am at breakfast. Food OK in restaurant but I stuck to the wooden floor walking in and the tables were also sticky.” Apr 15, 2008 by
Elisa from Rockville, MD
“This hotel is fine if you have kids and they want to swim in the indoor pool. Otherwise stay away, it was noisy until 1 AM. Reeked of chlorine from the pool. The rooms were very dirty. The phone had a year's worth of grime.” Apr 15, 2008 by
Lorraine from North Waterboro, ME
“Very nice. Good location and service was friendly and helpful. Observed very good customer service.” Apr 9, 2008 by
Carl from Sag Harbor, NY
“The hotel it self was a very modern place. I've stayed at this hotel before and I had a very good experience with the hotel. I would highly recommend it to my friends and Family.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Deborah from Hinesville, GA
“Nice hotel. View of the lake is great. Was informed they were going to remodel the inside and take out the gazebo areas. It was set up so beautiful in that area; don't believe that to be a great idea. That area was very beautiful the way it is. You could step out from your room and the view was amazing and to take that away I believe would be a mistake. It was a serene view.” Apr 1, 2008 by
David from Canandaigua, NY
“This would be a great place for a family to visit especially in the summer because of its proximity to Cedar Lake. Also had a very nice indoor swimming pool which is used year round.” Mar 27, 2008 by
Alex from Bloomfield, CT
“Enjoyable hotel on nice grounds and close to shopping and restaurants. Pool is OK. Seems like it needs something new though.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Emily from Worcester, MA
“The room took my breath away. Beautiful King size bed, sofa, desk, two TVs. Everything was clean. The bathroom was beautiful. Loved the fact that the complimentary shampoo was Bath & Body brand. Amazing!! Loved the setting and style. Fantastic place for the price.” Mar 9, 2008 by
Judith from Jacksonville, NC
“Stayed for the weekend and enjoyed the quietness of the area. Staff were pleasant.” Jan 19, 2008 by
Ellen from Edwardsville, PA
“It was a great hotel for a business traveler.” Jan 2, 2008 by
Cakeordeath from Lewiston, ME
“This is a decent hotel that seems to cater to families and business travelers. There are frequent events here, which mean it can be noisy and congested during those times. There is a rule about no kids under 16 in the hot tub, and no one in the pool afar 9 pm, but those rules seem to be ignored. Our room faced the atrium/pool area, and we had to listen to kids screaming until well after 10 (until I called the front desk and complained). There seemed to be a lot of unsupervised kids running through the hotel at all hours, in fact (it was Christmas vacation week). Our room, though, was clean and comfortable, with a mini fridge. We had no problems with anything other than the noise.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Monica from Wappingers Falls, NY
“The hotel is lovely. Great locale.” Nov 10, 2007 by
Brien from Farmington, CT
“Hotel was fine, 2 1/2 to 3 star.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Ksk from Croton On Hudson, NY
“Aside from the bed, which was world class (great nights sleep!) This hotel could use some renovations. Some signs had peeling paint, facility seems old, bathroom clean but tub needs update. Lake right outside sliding glass door was lovely, so it could be romantic, row boats available, but seems more like a local business meeting facility.” Nov 7, 2007 by
Laurie from Wolcott, CT
“The hotel is clean, centrally located. Lots of kids. Pool is in middle of hotel, not very private. Rooms on third floor are not easy to get to. You have to walk quite a distance to the elevator. Good for family stays; wouldn't recommend for romantic getaway.” Nov 1, 2007 by
Francine from Lititz, PA
“Other than the service at breakfast the hotel was great. Close to old Sturbridge village and all attractions.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Lisa from Wethersfield, CT
“We like this hotel. It's great to stay in when visiting Sturbridge village but there's enough to do with the pool, in room movies, gift shop and restaurant that you don't really need to have a plan except to relax.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Mary L. from Dansville, NY
“This hotel was fine for the price. We were pleased with the location. We do believe that it would be overpriced at the rack rate.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Naomi L. from West Orange, NJ
“The location was exactly what I wanted. The room was much larger than the standard room in, lets say, a Courtyard. But poorly furnished. The bathroom didn't have a shelf on which to place personal items. However, the towels were nice. The very worst part was that the room smelled of a combination of cigarettes, chlorine (from the pool, I presume) and mold. The room faced the pool and resting in the afternoon was impossible due to screaming children. The room was dark and unfriendly. Not at all a 3 star upscale as you had down on your website. I've booked with you before with success. This was a real dud. I'll have to rethink relying on your recommendations in the future.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Beryl from Highland, NY
“The hotel overall is in need of a renovation, especially the hallways and elevators. Parking field was also in poor shape.” Oct 15, 2007 by
Susie from Bucksport, ME
“Just what we wanted, great experience all around.” Oct 9, 2007 by
Eilene from Watertown, CT
“Very nice hotel.” Oct 6, 2007 by
Monica from Wappingers Falls, NY
“Great, family friendly and cozy.” Sep 15, 2007 by
Lauri from Lynnfield, MA
“It is fine for the convention we attend yearly.” Sep 13, 2007 by
Bettianne from Williamsburg, VA
“A very nice attractive hotel with conference accessibility. I also liked the fact that there was an exercise room. Also nice restaurants not connected with the hotel within walking.”
