• The overall downstairs impression was what I would expect from a hotel of this age but the rooms were a very pleasant surprise!

“The rooms are really very nice -- double sinks in the bathroom -- separate shower and tub -- the room was twice as large as a regular modern hotel room -- I would recommend it just for the experience of staying in the room -- very nicely finished -- the downstairs was not so impressive but the actual room was worth stay -- I normally don't do the survey but the rooms here make it worth the effort. A blast from the past!”

“Having my room clean is a big thing for me. The carpet and bed sheets were sticky. The second day we left the hotel at 7:30 am and stayed out all day having fun.”

• Comfortable, spacious, clean, and comfortably classy.
• The room did not have a refrigerator although there had been one in there at one time.

“This building is an older, and historic hotel but recently renovated. Very nice but not pretentious. The breakfast buffet was quite good. I would highly recommend this for others on Price line. If I were paying full price I would expect the overnight parking to be free.”

• Needs a serious update: beds, HAVOC, common areas.

“Hopefully new ownership will dispose of the 80s feel in this historic property adjacent to Wichita's riverfront. Has much potential, but most of it's squandered at this point. It might offer 3-star services, but it's well below the par set by chain competitors.”

• This hotel is conveniently located and has been renovated. It is very comfortable.
• There seemed to be some water damage on the carpeting in the seating area just off the elevators on the floor we stayed on.

“The Broad view Hotel is conveniently located and is completely renovated. The decor is pleasing. They offered a free breakfast in the morning. There is a nice bar. Restaurant located in the lobby with a great atmosphere and good food.”

“Beautiful lobby; attentive staff; good breakfast (would have liked alternative to pork based meat); clean; quiet. Would have liked parking in garage to be free. Airport shuttle good. Only complaint was heating/AC needs updating as it couldn't deal with fluctuations in KS Spring/ Winter temperatures.”

“Very nice old hotel - built in 1922. It is right on the river in downtown Wichita with a nice location for visitors. Staff is very friendly and the free breakfast buffet is outstanding (and free!). The room and general spaces could be slightly cleaner but it's almost 100 years old! Great stay for the price - great value - we would stay there again anytime.”

• The historic value and view of river.
• The rooms were lovely, but small. The doors always closed with a bang no matter how hard you tried to close them quietly.

• The quiet setting. Great for business people.
• The parking garage is across the street.

“Nice place to stay. Bed is comfortable. I wasn't real comfortable with my wife running over to the garage because it is out of sight from the front desk. Bar was fun. Breakfast was average.”

• The hotel is in a convenient location and houses everything for my needs while staying there. The parking is safe and secure.
• I have nothing negative to say about this hotel.

“The hotel was built in the early 1920's but has been maintained very well. The rooms are clean and well laid out for the traveler. This hotel will be going through a 25 million dollar renovation later in the year to bring it back to the 1920's elegance it originally had.”

• The hotel was clean.
• The location was a serious safety issue!

“The hotel was very clean. Check-in was convinent. The hotel staff was very friendly! However, the valet parking staff smoked in my truck and it had never been smoked in and I am not a smoker! Parking is a negative as safety was an issue but the staff told you this up front which was appreciated!”

“Old hotels can be charming and I think this one will be again. We understand it will be closed for a year for a total re-do. The rooms are very small. they changed the TV's on our floor the 2nd day we were there, but didn't have enough remotes. the old t.v.s got only a few cable channels. We didn't have a luggage stand in our room so had to put the suitcase on the floor, no other space. The complementary breakfast was decent. throw away plates and plasticware. We never got any heat out of the register so asked for another blanket which they brought up right away.”

• It was right on the Arkansas River and the clerk gave us a room on a higher floor with a river view. It was beautiful!
• The lighting in the room was very dim - made it hard to read before we went to sleep.

“This was truly a wonderful old hotel that has been beautifully restored. The beds were great and rooms very large and elegant.”

• I liked stepping back in time in the lobby.
• I did not like stepping back in time in the hotel room, needs updated linens, etc.

“Overall the hotel was not too bad, although it looks like it hasn’t been updated or cared for in a long time. The bedding was ancient and the iron rack on our wall fell completely out when I tried to take off the iron. It was a charming place, and a shame that more pride isn’t taken in trying to restore the hotel to its old grandeur.”

“Lovely location, close to museums, elegance and stateliness of the hotel, walking distance to old town, and best of all, friendliness of the staff. one waitress went out of her way and stayed on the job longer (past closing - we had a late arrival) just to serve us a glass of wine and some waters when it was time for her to go home.”

“I have been staying at this hotel for three years and the last two or three times it seems that it has gotten more run down. Stained carpet throughout, wood doors that are chipped, water coming from the ceiling of the shower when I took a shower causing plaster and dry wall to fall on my head etc.”

• Decor was great. It is a historic hotel, from a time gone by. Marble floors.
• Wireless internet, poor server and poor strength. My computer kept looking for stronger signal.

“Once we arrived it was everything we were looking for. My wife attended a class close to the hotel which made it easy for her to get to the class. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and our room was clean, nice and the bed was good. The dining areas were excellent and the bar and grill were nice. The only problem we had was that my wife is taking on-line college classes and the wireless internet connection was poor on the 7th floor. My wife had to go to the business center on the lobby floor in order to do her class. Also had free parking across the street with security.”

• The hotel staff was very helpful. They actually upgraded my room to a spacious room with a nice view and a comfy king bed!
• This sounds overly critical but the recorded voice in the elevator is extremely annoying, startling even!

“This historic hotel is very comfortable and well-appointed if not a little threadbare (particularly carpet and coverlet). However, it is well-located, the room was spacious and very clean and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was excellent and I highly recommend it. My stay here was very pleasant!”

• It was quaint and so had a fun atmosphere.
• It was outdated and not well kept, scuffed/scratched walls, mold, etc.

“Although quaint, this hotel was slightly outdated and unkept. It was missing an elegant feeling that could easily be obtained by better up keep. Our overall experience was not bad, but I would not choose to stay there again.”

• I liked the location. Being so close to downtown made it easier for us to get around and to visit family and friends.
• The front desk staff could have been more friendly.

“Being a native of Wichita, I have always been impressed with this hotel. This trip was the first time I had ever stayed at the Broadview, and I certainly was not disappointed. Some of the reviews by others mentioned that the air conditioning was not up to par, however, my wife and I found the air conditioning working fine. Those people who have been used to Freon powered air conditioners, need to start getting used to water-cooled air conditioning systems, which are actually much, much better for the environment. We had a great time, and will probably stay at this hotel again.”

“The first night I had trouble getting into my room due to the card reader would not completely unlock the door. I had a maintenance person let me in my room. The first evening I killed a very large spider on the wall and a small spider in the bathroom. The second night I was unable to get into my room due to the card reader again. The maintenance person took until approx. 10:15 pm to complete changing out the entire card reader from our door. While the maintenance person was in our room my daughter noticed a small spider walking across her pillow. I killed the spider after showing it to the maintenance person. The third night my daughter was bitten by something and had a large bite mark on her ankle (I took photos). I told the front desk management about this and phoned a management person that day to let them know. I was told an exterminator had already visited the room and found no evidence of spiders. I will not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone else.”

• We enjoyed the room and the overall atmosphere of the hotel. It was also centrally located in downtown Wichita.
• My wife accidentally left her flat iron in the room and we have had a horrible time getting them to respond to her messages.
