“The Abraham Lincoln is the type of hotel with music as you enter the lobby and a friendly, helpful staff. It is beginning to show its age, but is still the best in town.” Nov 24, 2009 by
Gary from Buffalo,NY
“The hotel is in an excellent location for the Miller Performing Arts Center, but the neighborhood is not the best. Walking home from the concert, I did not feel really safe. The room was spacious with a microwave and refrigerator, clean and it was a comfortable experience staying there.” Oct 12, 2009 by
Tom from Solon,OH
“Nice hotel, but area location was questionable, didn't seem safe to walk places. Entrance was not easily accessible.” Aug 30, 2009 by
Ang from New York, NY
“Sad, that they call this a Historic hotel. Yes, the building is beautiful but that is it. The hotel part needs a lot of work. It is in an unsafe, parking was awful, no room service past 10 pm. Room smelled bad, looked old and tired. AC was awful, bathroom was not clean. If you have an old hotel you have to work that much harder to make it feel clean. The elevator also is very scary. I will not stay there again. Not sure who wrote the good reviews here.” Jul 26, 2009 by
Laraine from Garfield,NJ
“Hotel is in downtown Reading. Wasn't my first choice, but we were visiting my friends' restaurant, The Arbor Inn, in nearby St Lawrence. The room we were assigned to was well kept, clean and spacious. I love the fact that this is a national landmark building-the lobby speaks volumes of guests from the past, including John Philip Sousa. The bed (most hotels don't care how the patron sleeps at night) was very comfortable. Check out time is reasonable. Parking garage was probably the only inconvenient event, but understandable as there aren't many safe places to park otherwise. There even was a wedding reception going on in the hotel-we didn't hear a peep (it seems as if the rooms or hallway are reasonably soundproofed). I enjoyed our short stay at this hotel, and definitely plan to stay here again when visiting our friends restaurant.” Jun 26, 2009 by

“It's old, dark and dirty. The rooms smell of 140 years of smoking. That smell does not go away with a no-smoking sign. They charge for parking. The bathroom had mold. Although hard to see because it was so dark. The food (club sandwich) was sub standard. This is a 2 star hotel at best.” May 3, 2009 by
Mike from Ferndale,MI
“The workout space rates a 1. Small, smelly and boiling hot at 92F.” Apr 28, 2009 by
Don from Huddleston,VA
“Excellent!” Apr 23, 2009 by
Ray from Alexandria,VA
“great location if you want to be downtown; also easy access to nearby local areas and restaurants. Hotel bed nice, but overall furnishings and decor look a little tired.” Apr 9, 2009 by
Rob from Mount Kisco,NY
“The hotel has been renovated and is not worn down, but you can see where the renovation cut corners. The hallways are institutional. There are not enough plugs by modern standards. The sink stopper in the bathroom didn't work. The AC couldn't keep the room below 70 degrees although it was cold outside. Staff was very nice.” Feb 18, 2009 by
Kim from Wyomissing,PA
“It met and exceeded my expectations. A nice breakfast would have completed the stay!” Nov 19, 2008 by
Erica from Philadelphia,PA
“I would just like to say this was a very beautiful & comfortable hotel with very friendly employee's. My room service was very fast & very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to an event in the downtown reading area.” Nov 5, 2008 by
Ray
“My particular corner room was spacious and bright with nice views. The room needed an upholstered casual chair for sitting. Good location for downtown activities.” Sep 26, 2008 by
David
“The Abraham Lincoln is a grand old hotel that has been restored with modern amenities. It is clean, quiet and provides a sense of well being. I would stay there again.” Sep 1, 2008 by
Nytraveler from Nanuet, NY
“From the moment we reached there staff was extremely welcoming, pleasant and helpful. Their recommendations for local restaurants were on the target. Hotel met all the expectations as a family traveler with kids, however, I feel it is more designed for business travelers. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Kathy from Dallas, GA
“We loved the room and the hotel, but there was no parking for our truck. So we parked across the street at the bank but had to move by 8 am.” Jul 22, 2008 by
T from Mineral Wells, WV
“The Abraham Lincoln was clean as a whistle, beautiful old fashion lobby, excellent front desk staff. Just watch out in the parking ramp as you can't get a big van or large SUV in there. Was out of date size wise. Internet worked fine. Just wish there was a complimentary breakfast. But overall very pleased.” Jul 1, 2008 by
Richard
“This hotel was excellent - very nice rooms - clean and large rooms! Very friendly people and nice breakfast as well! Will gladly stay there again and would recommend this hotel to friends.” Jun 30, 2008 by
James from Levittown, PA
“I liked the hotel.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Ankit from Sinking Springs, PA
“I was supposed to stay 6 days, but checked out after 3. The room was in bad shape. Toilet was dripping, and the best housekeeping could do was put a cofee mug under the sink. I had to put a bucket (trash can) to avoid entering a wet bathroom. Shower rod was shaky and could fall anytime on head. This place is a safety hazard!” May 30, 2008 by
Petra
“It is certainly a hotel we would return to. Central to the things we wanted to do. Not to far from shopping and food areas. The rooms were comfortable and the staff was pleasant.” May 28, 2008 by
Chris from Sinking Spring, PA
“Hotel was standard. Wasn't overly impressed with room/service, yet wasn't overly disappointed. Nothing stuck out of the ordinary, which is why I rated it only a 2.5. If I stayed at a Wyndham elsewhere around the country it would have been much more upscale.” May 8, 2008 by
Sandy from Coraopolis, PA
“Awesome atmosphere with very friendly and accommodating staff.” May 5, 2008 by
Mark from Pittsburgh, PA
“Overall, this is a good hotel, older with small elevator, but very clean. Drawback, there is a $6 fee for parking per night.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Jason from Middletown, PA
“My girlfriend and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary at this hotel. It was a lovely time at the hotel, but upon leaving to find a night club/local pub we found out there were none in the immediate area.” Apr 24, 2008 by
Giles from Atlanta, GA
“This isn't the greatest hotel in Reading, but I'd recommend it, because of the stuff that surrounds it. It is hard to find, but once found, you won't regret it.” Mar 31, 2008 by
Ellen from Hope, RI
“Although this hotel is comfortable and clean and the service friendly, it is located in an unsafe area. The first night we stayed, two of our traveling companions' cars were broken into and their windows were smashed. That day, five cars were vandalized and they were parked in the parking garage! Bands of young men roam the streets at night. I wouldnt allow my children anywhere in the hotel without me. This in not a safe place.” Mar 10, 2008 by
Paul from Brentwood, TN
“It is a beautiful building and the facilities are nice. My room was on the 16th floor, and the bed was plush, room was clean. The dinner I had at the tavern was overpriced, the lasagna a tasteless glob of cheese over some ground beef. Maybe the dining room is better, but it seemed a bit pricey. Staff is friendly. They validate your parking in the building's garage. Overall, a good value, if you have to stay in Reading.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Eddie from State College, PA
“This classic upscale hotel is in good condition. The rooms are adequately appointed; if not designed for optimal mobility. The classic dining area is an appealing environment for social occasions. The staff is very helpful and the facilities meet most all needs.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Karen from Harrisburg, PA
“Great place to stay walking distance from the sovereign arena. Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable and clean room.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Howard from Bridgeton, NJ
“Can't say enough wonderful remarks for this stay. We look forward for our next stay and may even just plan it sooner then later. Actually wanted to extend our stay but was unable due to time constraints. We did not have children with us but saw many children as guest.” Jul 20, 2007 by
Geoff from Pittsburgh
“This hotel is to be avoided. To begin with, the location is horrible and the hotel is understaffed with no security. We were there for a major event at the Soverign Center that drew 9000 people, and this hotel definitely wasn't ready to handle it. Downtown Reading is a horrible place after dark. I The service was horrible in the restaurant and bar. The room was small and dirty for the amount we paid. This hotel stinks as do all Wyndhams. Every one I've ever stayed in lacked security and was grossly understaffed with employees who aren't being paid enough to care.” Apr 27, 2007 by
Shawn from Pittsburgh, PA
“The staff of the hotel was excellent, the hotel itself is beautiful, historic. The town is a rundown railroad town, and it is obvious that the crime rate is high. The hotel is a block and a half from the Sovereign Performing Arts center which is absolutely beautiful, there are several great historic buildings close by.” Aug 25, 2006 by
Rick from Greenville, RI
“Thought the property and staff were wonderful. Downtown was quiet. Hotel only 1/2 mile off of highway (it's a SMALL city). We like the Google works Arts Center (two blocks from hotel). Dozens of artists working. Very nice, would definitely return.” Jul 11, 2006 by
Diane from Nokesville, VA
“The hotel was very nice. The rooms were spacious. It was wonderful having a microwave and fridge - with a family of little ones, this was exactly what we needed. The only problem is that the air conditioning is all or nothing -- they have old time window air conditioners that are very good at keeping the room chilly but once they reach a certain temp they turn off and the room gets very hot until the air conditioner turns on again.” Jul 9, 2006 by
Chaim from Brooklyn, NY
“Nice hotel with well furnished rooms. But, no pool.” Jun 8, 2006 by
Jack from Roanoke, VA
“Advertised a 3 star. I would rate it as 2 1/2 stars.” May 9, 2006 by
Frances from Kansas City, MO
“Hotel beautifully restored. Staff was gracious and helpful. Location made me uneasy. Hotel staff offered security escort for venturing off premises. Parking was inconvenient. An affair being held at Hotel forced parking far from Hotel entrance. Parking fees were added as extras.” Mar 28, 2006 by
Gary from North Arlington, NJ
“I thought the hotel was very nice. It met the needs of me and my family for the 1-overnight stay we had to make in the Reading area.” Oct 16, 2005 by
Jim from Edgewater, MD
“A very old hotel that has been upgraded. Reminded me of the grandeur of old hotels with huge ceilings in the foyer and a dark wood paneled bar. Nostalgic with up to date features” Oct 11, 2005 by
Rick from Duncansville, PA
“If this is a property that is improving then obviously they are on the right track. It is a beautiful old hotel with many unique features incorporated into new hotel. Would like to see upgrade to beds, linen, carpet etc. I met only three members of the staff, all were were helpful, friendly and genuine. Downtown Reading is a ghost town at night. Didn't make me feel like I would be safe just walking around.”
