“I just had the pleasure of staying,for two nights,at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites at Ashley Phosphate in North Charleston. This is a very nice hotel and I would definitely stay there again. The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful and nice. The room was quite and comfortable. It is located near lots of restaurants and shopping. My wife and I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to the area. The continental breakfast had plenty of variety. We enjoyed our stay very much.”

• Smoke smell.

“My husband and I were very pleased with our stay here. We were there on vacation. The front desk was very helpful on attractions to see and directions on how to get there. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The maid service did an outstanding job. For the money you couldn't ask for a better stay.”

• Lobby and 1st floor smelled like cigarette smoke.

“We got into town about 11 AM and the room was not ready - so we went out to tour the town. We came back at 6 PM and was told the room was not ready. After I confronted them suddenly a room was ready. The lobby and 1st floor smelled of cigarette smoke. Our room on the second floor was ok. Overall, this was not as nice a Holliday Inn Express as others I have stayed in.”

• Convenient to place of conference and nearby restaurant.
• No screen on windows.

“All in all it was conveniently located for where I needed to be; maid service was good; check in clerk was not so welcoming and rather curt when I asked about a military discount.”

“We had a wonderful time. Will return and stay at this hotel again. Very easy to get everywhere we wanted to go, in a quiet atmosphere.”

• Room was very unclean. Mold in bathroom and bedroom area. Bad smell through out the hotel.

“Bad smell in lobby and the hall ways. Room had mold in bathroom and on the phone. Bathroom had urine stains on the floor. Stains on the walls, looked like mold. I have very bad allergies and had to check out of the hotel 1 day early. Would not recommend this hotel.”

• Samantha, the 2nd shift worker was a positive to this hotel and the food was good.
• Stunk of cigarette smoke in 1st floor hall, filthy carpets, unkempt bathroom.

“I will never stay there again or recommend to anyone. The 1st floor back entry hall smelled of cigarette smoke, the carpet was filthy, the bathroom was unkempt, i.e., grout was black with dirt and fixtures were rusted over, not to mention the toilet stopped up and over flowed. Coffee maker should not be in bathroom. The linen was upgraded that was good but if you upgrade you should have also been mattress pads as well. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast attendants rushed everyone out of the dining area. Breakfast ended at 1030 and 930, if guests come in at 1000 or 900 you don't stop putting out food because youre ready to go home. That' s just what one woman did. She also announced to everyone that she was closing up and if we wanted anything we should hurry up and get it. That's POOR customer service. My family and I will NEVER stay at your hotel again. I think this place gives Holiday Inn a bad name.”

• How nice the staff was even though I arrived early.
• I have nothing bad to say about the hotel.

“The hotel is in a great location just outside of the city away from the traffic. The staff was great and the room was very neat and clean.”

• The motel was close to many attractions and easy access.
• The hallways smelled like smoke though the room did not.

“Overall the Holiday Inn Express was a fine place to stay. Not top of the line but comfortable and clean. The bed and pillows were comfy. The place was easy to find and traveling to downtown was a just short drive away. It seemed that the rooms had been remodeled partially. The breakfast was good and there was plenty of parking. The pool and fitness room looked nice though I did not use it.”

• The convenience to everything, cleanliness, friendly staffs my bed and pillows.
• There was nothing I disliked!

“This was my second stay here at the north Charleston holiday inn express. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when I go to Charleston. I have stayed downtown Charleston at the mills house and Charleston place but I will stay here in north Charleston from now on. The others were great but the convenience; peacefulness at the holiday inn can't be beat!”

• Very pretty and clean; staff was available and helpful.
• Could have had real glasses (not plastic cups), no fan in bathroom (I know picky).

“The staff was friendly, accessible, and helpful. The room was clean and attractive. Location, though a couple miles from downtown, was convenient overall. The free breakfast was about as good as you get for the price (fresh fruit, decent muffins and bagels, hardboiled eggs, etc.) It's a newer hotel and very pretty on the outside, so it was nice to come home to. Best summation: We would stay there again and would recommend it to others.”

• Neutral demeanor of desk staff did not extend themselves any smiles.

“More than adequate for our purposes a brief stay in Charleston on our way to the masters. A little more enthusiasm from the front desk staff would have moved it up a notch.”

• I do not have any negative comments.

• The door t the gym opens with the handle up instead of down like all the other doors.

• Bugs in room.

“Too much money for a dirty motel. Found bugs on floor and after telling the manager she was to give $10 off but didn't. Also the AC didn't work very good stayed in Atlanta this weekend for half the money and 10 times a better hotel.”
