“I am not a hotel snob by any means. Sleep number bed was uncomfortable. Inadequate lighting and outlets in the room. Multiple cords plugged into single outlets fire hazard. No hot water in the morning. All I ask for in a hotel is a clean, comfortable bed, good lighting and hot water for a relaxing shower. This Radisson did not meet any of those needs and I would never stay there again.”

• Sleep number beds were terrible!

“While the hotel itself seemed clean and attractive inside, we were assigned a room up a set of stairs and quite a ways down the hall - even though the hotel seemed relatively empty. There was one control that did not allow you to set a different number for each side, so we had to agree on a setting, and whenever my husband or I moved, it jiggled the other person. It was awful.”

• The staff were friendly, courteous, and very helpful.

“I was suprised by some of the negative reviews of this hotel. Unfortunately, I can't help but think these might reflect racism, as many of the staff are people of color. This hotel was fantastic for the price. While not located downtown, it was convenient to all areas of Madison. The staff were helpful and accomodating and any minor problem we had was remedied right away. Overall, a very good experience and a good place to stay.”

“I will not be returning to this hotel. You had to pay $10 to have a refrigerator in your room. The left us no complimentary soap or shampoo. The bedding was old and there were marks on the blankets.”

• Chair was comfy but would have rather had a couch for more people to sit on.

• I loved the bed! Very large and enjoyed the sleep number. Staff was very helpful!
• Would have been nice to have free coffee in lobby as other Radisson's have.

“Great hotel. Front desk staff recommended a great Mexican restaurant downtown with excellent food and people watching. Only negative is it would have been nice to have free coffee in lobby as other Radisson's have.”

• Comfortable bed. Good shower.
• The hallways were hot and the exit staircase smelled bad. Inconvenient layout.

“We stayed at this hotel for 2-nights (weekdays). The room was fine. The bed was comfortable. We both slept well. The shower and commode were in a small bathroom -- barely enough space to open and close the door while you were in the bathroom. The shower worked great. The bathroom fan did not clear the humidity well from the shower. The sink and vanity were located in the main room opposite the door to the bathroom. The hotel layout is not very convenient. We took the elevator, which is located by the lobby, up to the second floor. Our room was more than a long block from the elevator (we passed dozens of rooms). It was not a straight hall. We had to make several turns and follow the signs to get to our room. The desk clerk did not give me a hotel layout map and tell me where our room was and where to park. I did not realize the size of this hotel -- I should have asked. Upon arriving at our room, I sought out a better way to enter and exit from outside. The nearest exit was a door about 3-doors from our room toward the end of the hall furthest away from the lobby. This exit door opened at the top of a staircase which led down to the parking lot. The staircase had a security door at the bottom which could be accessed from the outside using a room key card. There was no ventilation in this area -- it was hot and there was an unpleasant chemical odor (like the smell of melting color crayons) in this area. The hallway outside of our room was warm - I'd guess that it was 80 degrees (outside it had gotten up to 90 degrees during the day). The ice machine in our hallway was not functioning but another one about halfway back to the lobby was working. The staff was friendly. They were able to give me a non-smoking room with a king-size bed instead of a room with two-double beds. Summary, During the past year, I have made several trips to Madison.”

“This hotel is better than expected. Staff was very kind. They gave me coupon for complimentary breakfast and other minor thing. Swimming pool was very good for our family which is very comfortably accessible from my room and very clean. Room was very clean and set very good. Air was very good to our family who are sensitive to the smoking smell. Although we didn't go there, some attraction was near there. The hotel is near the highway. It took just 15 minute or so to downtown. I was very impressed to this hotel. Definitely I will stay there again. Have a good enjoy there.”

• The wired and wireless internet service was spotty at times.

“GOOD: Extremely clean; professional, friendly, staff; great shower water pressure; great air-conditioning; convenient parking; free breakfast (though you have to request a "ticket" each day from the front desk).Not so good: internet service would drop out at times; room was small (only large enough for a single queen bed); no electrical outlet (s) near work desk; malfunctioning electrical extension cord; clock radio was broken; musty smell in hallway.”

• I had to call for towel and soap on more than one occasion, as the housekeeping staff forgot to leave it.

“For a quiet, comfortable room with easy access to the west side of Madison and Middleton, this is a good choice. - It also close to many shopping venues, and has easy access to the beltline to get to other parts of Madison.”

• The beds were very comfortable and our room was large with a sitting area.
• The work out room was very small and hot and the hot tub was very foamy.

• Special dinner at hotel was excellent, well prepared, not over cooked. Pool open till midnight.
• Complimentary breakfast was limited, not much better than what is provided at lesser hotels.

“Very nice hotel. Special buffet dinner for our family gathering was very nice, food was prepared nicely; everything was done well. Complimentary breakfast was okay; easy to access. Staff is very professional. Pool was open until Midnight, giving some a chance to get there with kids before retiring for the evening.”

• Comfortable room was able to try sleep number bed.
• Hotel does not have a view as it is near mall.

“We arrived at the hotel and were told we had a double room non-smoking. Asked if we could have a king and were accommodated. We were surprised to be given coupons for breakfast each day. The room was equipped with a sleep number bed, the bad part of this is that the bed is very loud when you pump it up the numbers. Hotel was quiet and in an easy to reach location. As an added bonus there was a laundry across street.”

• It was convenient to the attractions that I wanted to see.
• Outdated decor, very loud, missed out on a lot of sleep.

“3 stars was the highest option we had. The furnishings were outdated and the room was small. There were meetings at the hotel both days. Around 6:15 AM on Friday morning, multiple doors slamming and people talking in the hallway woke me up. On Saturday morning, the group from the Wisconsin Day Lily Society woke me up at 6:00 AM. The person in the room above us must have put on about a mile walking back and forth between the bathroom and the window. The thin ceiling allowed me to hear every footstep. I travel frequently, staying in a variety of hotels.”

• Night staff a bit off-putting.

“Manager and day staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable of area and activities. Several great restaurants and shopping mall in area. Quick and easy access to downtown capital area. Not impressive from outside, but a very well run operation. Will certainly visit again.”

• The service of the staff was excellent. Every need was taken care of.
• The pool area was really humid, there were no vents, but the sliding doors helped.

“I like Radisson hotels as a chain. This was better than expected because I was close to shopping and food areas. Also the fireworks were shot off at a park near the hotel as well!”

• Small room, tiny bathroom, closet door hit hangers when opening.

“Bright, cheerful and clean rooms. But rooms are on the small side and the bathroom was tiny, hit your head on the doorknob when you sat on the toilet and your elbow bumps on the wall. They do give you a bottle of water everyday, but only one for two people. Horrible remote for the TV, and you could only get the wireless if you stood next to the door, although they did have a DSL connection, would have been nice not to be tied to the desk. They drained the hot tub the second day, so it was not available for the next 24 hours, then it was barely warm. The bath had excellent hot water though, just no jets. Did love the sleep number bed, although there was something wrong with the controls, they did not register correctly, having one of those beds, I know how they work, and this one was not working right the first day, took us 3 days to get it to the right number. Overall, I had probably stay here again if I'm in the area, the location was good, we never found out if the restaurant and pizza place were open, never found the pizza place even, they both close at 10pm supposedly.”

“The beds seem to have some sort of plastic sheet on the mattress (under the cloth sheet) that makes for a sweaty sleeping experience. Other than those two things, it can be a good value.”

• Shower pressure too strong. Whirlpool out of order, door wide open with fan going.

“Its a nice hotel for business travelers. The whirlpool was empty when we stayed and they had a large fan going with door wide open as it stormed outside. Made it uncomfortable so we retreated back to our room early. The receptionist lady gave us incorrect directions to the 2nd floor - after lugging our bags up the elevator and half way down the hall did we realize we were given incorrect directions and had to back track.”

• Very nice room. Friendly and helpful people.
• The pool was a little on the cool side and the hot tub did not work the first night. Hot tub worked on the second night.

“Very nice room at a good value. The registration desk personnel were friendly and helpful. I have already decided for another stay and look forward to returning. We were attending a horse show at the Alliant Energy Center and were originally concerned about the location. It was easy access and about 7 Min. - no problem!”

• The rooms were cramped, and the sleep number beds were awful - one of them didn't work.

“The pros definitely outweighed the cons. The staff was friendly, the hotel common areas and rooms were very clean, and the breakfast buffet at the hotel was good (the coffee was great!) The location was very good, too. The only issues were the sleep number beds, which both myself and my husband found to be extremely uncomfortable, no matter how we adjusted them, and there was just too much furniture for the amount of space in the room. We felt like we were tripping over it. Those things aside, we really enjoyed the hotel and would probably stay there again, though not for an extended period of time, based on the beds.”
