“Very easy to find, very clean rooms and baths, fiendly staff to help us find our way around the area. Next time I'll take my bathing suit.” Sep 6, 2009 by

Kim from Ledyard,CT
“The booking person had made a mistake and only booked one room when I had paid for two. Fortunately there was another room nearby. The staff member I had dealings with was very friendly and helpful.” Jul 31, 2009 by
Stan from Hollis,NH
“Everything I expected in a hotel of this class. It was clean and quiet. Bathroom area is very small.” Jul 5, 2009 by
Shelley from St. Charles,Canada
“I would return to this motel, as it met all my needs.” Jul 2, 2009 by
Stacey/Kelly from Elkhart,IN
“I was quite disappointed with this hotel. From the outside the appearance is acceptable. Upon entrance into the hotel there is a musty smell. The entire hotel has stairs used, either up or down a flight, which makes loading luggage a hassle. The staff was friendly upon arrival; however, they didn't seem genuinely concerned about our problems. We could not access the internet from the room even though it is a listed amenity. The hotel staff didn't seem very knowledgeable about the technology or the surrounding area.” Apr 28, 2009 by
Denise from Cheltenham,MD
“I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.” Mar 2, 2009 by
Nicole from Hyde Park,VT
“Very clean, friendly front desk clerk. The pool was great and the hot tub was beautiful.” Feb 2, 2009 by
Tasha from Halifax,Canada
“It was clean and just off the highway.” Oct 15, 2008 by
Paul
“Clean room, good location, good parking area provided.” Sep 24, 2008 by

“Fruit was nasty, bruised, bagels were stale, and coffee was weak. Nice hot tub, though.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Krista from Milldale, CT
“Great location, just a short cab ride to downtown Portsmouth. The hotel recommended a few cab services which was very convenient for us. The room was clean and nicely designed, we enjoyed having a refrigerator and internet access, it was nothing short of what we expected. Thank you!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Sep 1, 2008 by

“This hotel should fall in the basic accommodation range, nothing upscale about it.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Christine from Schenectady, NY
“This hotel is pretty Spartan. The room was small, the beds were small and not very comfortable, and the bathroom was very, very small. There were only about 6 tables in the dining area and easily about 100 rooms, leading to a busy breakfast with no seating. The staff was very friendly and the facility was clean. The location is convenient to shopping, dining, and the coast of both NH and ME.” Aug 21, 2008 by
David from Norwood, MA
“Overall the hotel was good to stay in. It met our needs for the trip that we took. It was easy to get to from the highway, had a nice indoor pool, room was a good size and had complimentary breakfast.” Aug 19, 2008 by
Chris from Leominster, MA
“A friend and I decided to stay up in Portsmouth for the weekend and had a room at the Anchorage. We checked in around 7:30 pm and planned on getting changed and heading to the Wentworth and hitting the town. When we were ready to leave, we discovered that gee, the door wouldn't open. We were actually locked into our third floor suite. After several attempts by the staff, (which included waiting for the maintenance man to be called in) we ultimately ended up getting handed tools under the door, and having to disassemble the door from the inside. It was 10:30 pm by the time we had escaped our room, and by this time had entirely lost motivation to go hit the town. The thing that really gets me is that they still had the gall to charge me $85.00 at check out the next day! Since I stupidly did not voice my disgust that day, I will at least give warning and tell you that there is a Best Western down the road that is about the same quality, for a bit more reasonable price. And I don't know of anyone getting locked in.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 19, 2008 by

“I can't even imagine how this hotel is 2.5 stars.” Aug 15, 2008 by
Anna from Toms River, NJ
“Very clean, good location, friendly staff, would recommend to friends and family.” Aug 13, 2008 by

“Good location and nice staff. The room still had a smoky smell. Great for the family traveler.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Dexter from Florence, MA
“We had a lovely stay at the Inn and would recommend it to anyone. Even though I didn't have any, my husband said there were delicious (just out of the oven) chocolate chip cookies in the lobby. There was a nice continental breakfast with very good fresh oranges, 3 types of cereal, English muffins, bagels, 2 types of muffins. They had run out of orange juice. The hotel was extremely clean and perfectly maintained. My only complaint was that I found the bed to be uncomfortable and I had a poor sleep because of it. I would still go there again because everything else was wonderful. Our teenaged son also enjoyed staying there. It's very conveniently located.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 22, 2008 by

“Very nice condition but the rooms were small. Good location.” Jun 27, 2008 by

“Very clean, staff was nice, pool area and breakfast area newly renovated.” Apr 16, 2008 by

“Friendly, good fitness room but was only available after 7 AM.” Mar 31, 2008 by

“The hotel is fine for a one night stay. Not the cleanest I have seen or the quietest.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 10, 2008 by
Amber from Columbus, OH
“Overall, the hotel was pleasant. The rooms were clean and adequate. In general I was pleased with the stay, although the second time I was at this hotel, there seemed to be more occupants. Noise from surrounding rooms traveled easily through the walls, which was somewhat annoying when I was trying to sleep or watch TV.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 3, 2007 by
Mary from Windsor, CT
“The staff was pleasant and friendly. The hotel was convenient to find and to other attractions. The room was clean. The bed cover was stained in many places. The bed was so hard and shifted to one side that I would not stay there again.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 28, 2007 by
Amy from Westminster, CO
“Excellent experience room had everything we needed, very clean, quiet in spite of highway location, and comfortable. Nice free breakfast following morning. Good internet access (wireless).” Oct 19, 2007 by
Merrie from Berwick, PA
“Very, very small bathroom. No closet, just wardrobe. Being my first transaction, I was disappointed. Very easy to find.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Nt from Hanover, NH
“The room was too small. We could hear the TV sound from other room through the wall.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Barbara from Cincinnati, OH
“Although the hotel was clean and convenient, we were very disappointed with the noise level. We have never stayed in a "basement" room. We could actually hear the person above us walking around. Also there was a lot of noise and commotion in the hallway (after 1 am).” Oct 11, 2007 by
Kathleen from Rumford, RI
“Overall, the hotel was ok. But I don't think I would return, nor recommend to friends. For the price, I expected more.” Oct 7, 2007 by
Michael from Reno, NV
“The hotel is clean and the staff was pleasant. Our goal was to visit Portsmouth during the day and drive to Kennebunkport for dinner. Shopping in Portsmouth was good, the drive to Maine was short and dinner was excellent.” Sep 12, 2007 by
Anne from Portsmouth, RI
“It had been misplaced. The breakfast room was so overcrowded with a bus tour the first morning-hard to get a cup of coffee even and no place to sit! Also it was a beautiful weekend and the hotel offered no outdoor public area other then a picnics table in the parking lot.” Sep 6, 2007 by
Mike from Lebanon, NH
“This hotel is overrated at 2.5 stars. We were very disappointed. The best I can say about it is that it is like a clean days inn.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Rohit G. from New York, NY
“A simple and affordable place to stay. This hotel is a 1.5 to 2 star hotel which is respectable and realistic. While it was clean, had a relatively friendly staff and free internet. The lighting in the rooms was noticeably low; the bed was motelish and a little bit uncomfortable. Most of the rooms are on a basement level floor. The window looked directly in the parking lot. The bathroom did not have shampoo and conditioner, etc. The pricing is very competitive for the location but at the end of the day, this is not a 2.5 star hotel.” Aug 19, 2007 by
William from Harrington Park, NJ
“A decent moderately priced hotel. Located between major highways and Portsmouth attractions with easy access to both.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 23, 2007 by
Maureen from Irvington, NY
“The hotel was nice. There was a funny smell in the room. I don't know if it was the cleaners they used or the chlorine from the pool. The staffs were helpful and friendly.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 18, 2007 by
Jennifer from West Newton, MA
“Pros: 1. Cleanliness of room/general areas of hotel2. Friendliness of front desk staff3. Micro/fridge combo in room4. Great location- very short drive to downtown Portsmouth Cons: 1. Beds are extremely uncomfortable2. Very poor sound dampening, can hear neighbors' televisions and conversations Unfortunately for me the two cons definitely outweigh the pros and I would not elect to stay at this hotel again for these reasons.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 3, 2007 by

“Overall good room and nice pool - couldn't find the exercise room even after directions.” Jun 26, 2007 by
Rainer from Bielefeld, PA
“Rooms are a bit outdated and very noisy, could hear noise from floor and adjacent rooms and from i-95. Desk and chairs could not be used due to the lack of space within the room. Breakfast could be improved, ok for 2 stars but not for 2.5 stars.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 7, 2007 by
Charlotte from Dover, NH
“Hotel was clean and the staff was very nice. There was hot coffee and tea in the lobby all the time, and nice areas to sit and chat. I enjoyed my stay.” May 1, 2007 by
Cami from Hancock, NH
“I had never stayed at this hotel before but had seen it in the past, 18 years ago and knew they had a nice pool. We did not have time to use the pool we were so tired that we fell into bed when we got there. It is not in, but is close to downtown Portsmouth which is fine because downtown is an easy drive with ample parking. Just bring quarters for meters downtown. Ai was very clean for our stay and it looked like they had recently painted and papered so surroundings were nice. A couple negatives, we use memory foam cushions on mattresses at home so the traditional firm mattress was a little uncomfortable. Could use a nice topper! Also did not have any in room movies but plenty of stations to watch and good reception. We were on a college search and tour trip so spent little time at hotel but it served our purposes of needing a clean and safe place to lay our heads. I wish we had swam in the pool, used hot tub. It looked nice when we glanced at it as it is visible from lobby.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 3, 2007 by

“After making the reservation I called the hotel and asked for a "non-smoking" room. The room was "non-smoking" but was in the east wing which permits smoking on the upper floors. The room had a distinct smell. My request for a room change was agreed to. The second room was much cleaner smelling but the shower/tub drain did not work well and I was standing in three inches of water by the time I finished my (short) shower.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Mar 14, 2007 by

“I was not happy. I have to say the hotel was clean, convenient, and the rooms were nice.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 13, 2007 by

“O.k. For the price I got. Meager free breakfast and weak coffee. Thin walls and ceiling. Could hear other guests and their TV¿s.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 4, 2006 by
Scot from Brooklyn, NY
“Even the startlingly loud music in the hall (which plays all night) doesn't drown out the hum of I-95. Granted, it's easy to find, and the location served our purposes, but it is near no amenities (still 10-15 minutes from downtown Portsmouth), the desk staff was very unaccommodating and unhelpful, and I could really care less that it's a wireless hot spot when I'm on a personal trip. Is this place 2.5 stars? Don't think so.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
