“I don't know how this hotel got 4 stars. Our room had a dead bug on the floor, hairs in the bath tub, it was dirty and needs renovation. There were wasp nests on the balcony outside so we couldn't even enjoy it. Overall the hotel needs some maintenance. Our room was not ready when we arrived and the woman at the front desk was very rude to us. We did not feel welcome as a family with children as it appeared most of the guests were older couples. That may have something to do with the time of year. We couldn't get any beach chairs without 24 hour notice due to reduction in staff for the slow season.”

• Loved the Village Studio - the service, the beach, the pool and the workout facility.
• LOVED everything especially the PRICELINE PRICE!

“I would recommend Wild Dunes to anyone looking for a wonderful get-away! This is my husband's second time going to the resort and we really enjoyed this trip so much more than our first visit! The main reason is the Village was not there 2 years ago - and we stayed in the Boardwalk Inn - which was nice but the Studio we stayed in the Village was FANTASTIC!”

• Everything - it was truly awful.

“Awful experience overall. I asked a room for four nights on the week of New Years 2009, and I had plans to propose to my girlfriend on the ocean. Unfortunately, we did not make it past the second night because the experience was awful: no hot water in the first room - moved to another room at 1:30 in the morning where the water was out of control and burned my (now) fiance's back; toilet leaked water all over my fiance's feet and socks and pants; I used the shower and about threw up when I found out I was wiping down with a towel that had a poop stain on it; the coffee pot did not work; TV in the first room had poor reception, in second room had poor reception and the remote control did not work. Finally, we had enough and checked out early. The staff was nice enough! We ended up getting engaged in some parking lot in Charleston because that was the best I could do with the limited time I had to pull something out of my rear-end! Thanks, but no thanks! I will never visit this location again - you can take that to the bank!”

“The hotel was very nice; however the restaurants either weren't open or didn't stay open late. We also found that their service was inconsistent, i.e. coffee in the lobby one morning then wouldn't put it out the next.”

• Hotel appearance and staff.

“Being on the beach in Charleston, SC is great but the Boardwalk Inn and the staff leave much to be desired. The appearance of the Inn was a little rundown. Not slow elevators, rude staff and walls that need patching/painting. Folks, do not waste your time going to this place. It would not live up to your expectations. When you check out you will find all kinds of resort fees and destination fees.”

• They were painting in the lobby, the restaurant was not open for breakfast.

• It's really far removed from the main entrance of the community and difficult to find.

“This is the Boardwalk Hotel which is set amongst a number of other living quarters in the whole Wild Dunes resort and golf course. It intends to be a period piece set amids a relaxed island town environment. The lobby and common areas are elegantly appointed enough, but I couldn't help but get the feeling that the guests who stay in the Boardwalk are among the lowest priority for the staff of the resort.”

• I simply adore everything about this hotel, esp. the incredible staff.
• I did not like having to leave.

• Ambiance of our condo & hotel front office staff.
• We didn't get maid service for 2 days.

“When we first got to our condo, we were impressed! Half way through our stay our maid service didn't come for 2 days. No coffee and no towels. We called 3 times housekeeping didn't show till day 3 if it wasn't for the staff at the front office we would have been SOL. Thank goodness for the front office! Other than this incident it was an awesome stay!”

“AMAZING! My fiancé and I loved the view over the pool and the short walk to the beach. I wish I could have arranged my trip for more than one day, so I could have experienced one of the two golf courses. No matter where we were in the hotel or property we felt like we were VIP; from Valet parking to quick and friendly service at any of the 3 restaurants on their property.”

“Our stay was in one of the villas. It was very spacious. Resort amenities were a little hit and miss, but the grounds were maintained well for such a massive and spaced out resort. Dining was either counter service, bar food or 5-star. Would like to see something in the moderate range for eating. Might stay again, but would probably look elsewhere.”

• Our room was right outside the maids room and they where slamming doors until 12am, then we were woke up at 7am.

“The maids slammed doors outside our room until 12, then a trash dumpster was right below us and the truck came to empty it at 7am on Saturday am. I would not go back.”

• The room had a little wear and tear after their high summer season.

“This is a very nice beach hotel, located right on the beach. Its about a 15 20 minute beautiful ride from Downtown Charleston. It was very nice too not stay in Downtown as we feel we got a better feeling of Charleston by staying out on isle of palms. Two links courses, one I know were designed by Fazio (not sure if he designed the other course) valet parking and the bellman were complimentary. We stayed in a king deluxe room on the 5th floor of the hotel. The rooms are nicely furnished with large bathrooms. As we staying here in early Nov 07 at the end of their high season, we noticed that the room was a little worn (scuff marks on the wall and spots in the carpet) but low season is here now so they have time to fix these issues. If you do stay in the hotel, make sure to not stay on the left end (facing the hotel, left end) of the hotel as this end is where deliveries are made. And the trucks start delivering early and deliver late, so the humming of the diesel trucks is annoying. We were on the 5th floor second highest and could hear the trucks. Even with these small issues, I would stay here again.”

• Lovely facilities, great location, nearby attractions & shopping, upscale area.
• No breakfast, couldn't dine in onsite restaurant because son didn't meet dress code weren't informed of this prior to our arrival.

“Boardwalk inn is a lovely hotel that took me away from the business of my life by landing me in the midst of coastal beauty surrounded by elegant homes and classy golf courses. My one day there was not enough time to explore the natural treasure of my surroundings. I will just have to return.”

• The rooms were large and had lots of space.
• No fridge without minibus and the "private" hotel pool allowed everyone around in.

“The rooms were great. Didn't care much for valet parking only. Unless you parked across the street and walked 100 yards. No fridge in the rooms unless you used the minibus. The pool was for boardwalk inn guests only but everyone from all condos around used this pool. Golf was good. Too bad that the links course is losing the 18th to the ocean. Par 5 soon to be a par 3. Overall the resort was nice.”

• There wasn't any downside to this lovely resort.

“I absolutely enjoyed my visit in Boardwalk Inn at Wild Dunes. Our room was exceptional. Dinning on site was awesome. The presentation was as delightful as the flavor. The staff was exceptional and very family friendly. Upscale and kids don't always go together. There were activities for everyone. I can't wait to visit again.”

• Nice sized bathroom and space in room.
• That they said there was only valet parking, I did not want to do valet parking every time, so I had to find my own parking lot.

“Excellent faculty and amenities. Very comfortable rooms and easy access to pool and beach. Only complaint was that two separate employees told me that they only did valet parking, but I did not want to have to tip a valet every time, so I used valet once, and then found a parking lot across from the hotel and just parked there.”

• I liked the neatness and beautiful landscaping of the whole resort area. I liked the closeness of the pool and the ocean.
• This was a small condo. It was adequate but not luxurious.

“This is a beautiful resort area. We were expecting a hotel room, but got a one bedroom condo instead. We had plenty of space and a kitchen, but the condo was dated. The carpet had dark stains on the floor.”

• The villa provided all the accommodations for a nice relaxing extended stay.
• To access the beach, I had to walk past resort construction.

“The villa set along the isle of palms beachfront, provided all the necessities with comfortable settings and lovely decor. A great setting to open up to the screen porches to hear the crashing tides and feel the ocean breeze. A great location to lie around or travel back and forth between the beaches. If you are looking to spend time in Charleston, don't stay here. You end up feeling guilty for leaving the resort.”

• Beautiful setting - staff extremely helpful -great advice regarding restaurants and attractions. Accurate directions to all locals.
• Construction very noisy - ashtray on balcony never emptied - closet louvered doors very dusty.

“Met expectations and more. Would have liked to have known about construction site adjacent to our balcony. Restaurant recommendations were a homerun 3 of 4 times. This is a very impressive resort that I would recommend to family and friends.”

• Was a very cozy and small hotel but yet had everything that you would need in a 5 star hotel.
• Really liked every thing about hotel.

“I think this is a hidden treasure in Charleston area. It is located on isle of palms close to Charleston. Was easy to find. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful about area. Rooms were very spacious and plush. Just sorry only had one night to spend in Charleston area. Would recommend this hotel to any one.”

“Even at an embassy suites or Hilton garden inn, the breakfast buffet has eggs cooked to order rather than old scrambled. The rooms were standard - nothing too special, no fridge, and valet only parking. Did I say no hot tub already? 4 plus pools but no hot tub.”
