“The hotel exceeded my expectations. The rooms were very nice and had plenty of space. The children loved the indoor pool and literally stayed in it for over 4 hours. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating.” Oct 13, 2009 by
Carrie from Norfolk,VA
“This is a fine, straightforward hotel. Clean, well-run. Not too fancy, but a safe, clean place to stay.” Sep 13, 2009 by
Hank from Manassas,VA
“Very nice. Just be sure to ask for a room far away from the ice machine.” Sep 10, 2009 by
Dina from Lexington,SC
“We went with our 2 children. We really enjoyed our stay. It close to everything. Just wish the pool was heated.” Aug 30, 2009 by
KB from Erial,NJ
“Excellent hotel for the price. Minutes from all the attractions.” Aug 30, 2009 by
Flo from Gaithersburg,MD
“It is a very family friendly place. The employees are friendly and helpful. I had just left a hotel in Virginia beach which was a 3 star hotel and it did not compare to the Crown Plaza in a lot of ways, especially cleanliness. I am stickler for cleanliness and helpful and friendly employees.” Aug 21, 2009 by
Debbie from Mechanicsville,MD
“I picked the hotel because of the rating it had and the reviews. I was disappointed. The room could have been cleaner. It was not vacuumed daily. It took forever for the beds to be made during the week--I think they had one housekeeper per floor. They brought more in during the weekend but on Saturday we were without towels until about 8:00 that night even though I had requested them twice. 1 trash can per room and the bathroom was extremely small. Expected a better quality room for the price and rating and was disappointed. Location was good--near Colonial Williamsburg but there were other hotels in the area that probably were cleaner than this one. Didn't find staff at the front desk to be pleasant at all. Fire alarm went off the second night we stayed (early the next morning). The alarm went off in the hallway and if I wasn't a light sleeper, my family would have slept through it since it didn't go off in the room. For the money and ratings that it received--I was disappointed and would not stay there again.” Jul 26, 2009 by
Stephanie from Frankenmuth,MI
“Nice amenities - pool, indoor & outdoor, tennis courts, spa pool. Very nice private balcony for each room but door to balcony in poor condition.Beautiful lobby - rooms did not match the beauty of lobby though. Older TV and furniture.” Jul 24, 2009 by
Trish from Kill Devil Hills,NC
“Old, dated, no one at front desk was able to answer questions about the area. The exterior doors were not locked and a bunch of teenagers were outside at 10:30 at night. Maid service never showed up to clean room. Room was not clean.” Jul 5, 2009 by
Char from Columbus,OH
“The Room we stayed in was at back of Hotel & was run down. It was isolated from the other block of hotel rooms. Had to take a Smoking room to get two double beds (which were requested before arrival). Have stayed in much nicer rooms for the price and star rating.” Jul 3, 2009 by
Ashley from Oak Island,NC
“Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. We did not have any bad experiences. The hotel staff was very effiencient and were quick to help when needed. We had a wonderful time there.” Jul 2, 2009 by
Roy from Covington,VA
“Overall great experience for a two day getaway. Hotel staff was more than courteous helping find area attractions and in helping with anything needed in our room.” Jun 27, 2009 by
Edward from Allentown,PA “Hotel site was convenient to my visit to Busch Gardens (1 mile). Hotel grounds, pool, lobby were all up to my expectation. Rate was OK as I paid a little less than standard rate. In biding I expected to get a higher rated hotel but had a good overall experience.” Jun 25, 2009 by
Kathleen from New Tripoli,PA

“I really enjoyed my stay here. The beds were so comfortable and it had a balcony which was nice! The shower and toilet are separate from the vanity area which made it very cramped but other than that I have no other complaints!” Apr 28, 2009 by
Lisa from Nankin,OH

“We had a huge room with nothing in it. TV Movies were not available. Room service was the bar with 2 very hard working guys who could not get it all done. Only bar food available. Hotel seemed very empty. Would not stay there again.” Jan 22, 2009 by
Steve from Aston,PA
“Bad start as we had trouble getting into the room. Key cards were ok, batteries in door lock were dead - apparently a common problem here. Once the batteries were replaced we could enter without problem. Bathroom was very small, room was clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free internet in room as well as 4 computers in the lobby for guest use. Not a real fancy place.” Jan 20, 2009 by
Marc from Lynchburg,VA
“Great place to stay and a terrible place to eat!” Jan 5, 2009 by
Lynn from Mt. Bethel,PA
“This hotel was very convenient to Colonial Williamsburg. The room was spacious and comfortable, but the bathroom was very small.” Dec 10, 2008 by
Frank from Wendell,NY
“The default location for our conference. The hotel is adequate for the small conference and I didn't get a cramped feeling. I was very disappointed in the room service failing and the continental breakfast was cold!” Dec 2, 2008 by
Linda from Lexington,VA
“A nice hotel, friendly staff, lousy breakfast buffet since the meat was tough and cold as were the eggs and fried potatoes. The coffee was not good. The room was comfortable, the bed was very good, there were enough blankets. The heater did not have a shut-off when it reached a certain temperature, so there was a lot of messing with the theromstat. Overall it was a nice place to stay but not to dine.” Dec 2, 2008 by
Jeanne from Berlin,MD
“Pretty good overall. Excellent value and seemed to be pet friendly as I saw several dogs in and out. That's nice to know since more people are choosing to travel with pets.” Nov 13, 2008 by
Kristy from Lynchburg,VA
“This hotel is in a great location, just outside of Colonial Williamsburg, literally around the corner! The indoor and outdoor pools make it ideal anytime of year. It was so worth it!” Nov 4, 2008 by
Lynda
“Good location for our day stay in Williamsburg, I would stay here again.” Oct 23, 2008 by
Anastasia
“Very comfortable and accommodating - not really a super-romantic place, but the sleep package was extremely nice. The lounge was pleasant and our bartender was fantastic. Our restaurant server was good, too, but the dining room left much to be desired and the food looked like something from my high school cafeteria. Overall, however, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.” Oct 15, 2008 by
Ashley
“Great hotel. Wonderful staff. We loved walking to Colonial Williamsburg. We had two connecting rooms with my mom, brother, 2 small kids, husband and I. It was really great for the kids to go back and forth between the two rooms. My only complaint was the fact that they had double beds and not queen size beds. Although, the beds were very comfortable.” Oct 15, 2008 by
Rich
“The room was clean but the bathroom was tiny. There was a separate sink area however. The toilet and the shower functioned okay. There was very limited parking available in the parking lot especially at night, the outside appearance of the hotel was old and outdated, the guests were unfriendly and there were dozens of pets occupying several rooms.” Oct 14, 2008 by
Amy
“We enjoyed our stay here.” Oct 8, 2008 by
Susan
“Nice hotel in good location. We weren't happy when we got a room across from the ice maker and next to the lobby. It was very noisy until around 11:00 but then fortunately was quiet the rest of the night.” Oct 8, 2008 by
DAVID
“The hotel has friendly staff there to help you. If there is a problem they fixed it right way. The food was good. And the location of the hotel was excellent.” Sep 26, 2008 by
Mark
“Overall, good experience. A word of caution though to those having breakfast in the dining. If you pass on the breakfast buffet and opt to see a menu, your server may cop an attitude and disappeear indefinitely.” Sep 25, 2008 by
Kimberly “It seemed like they tried to fit an upscale hotel into a remodeled Howard Johnson. The rooms were okay but nothing spectacular. The bathroom was very small! The beds were very uncomfortable and the sheets were too small for the beds. There was a bright light on the patio that signed into our room and could not be blocked. Finally, all of the lights in the room did not have light bulbs.” Sep 16, 2008 by
“Next to the train tracks, terrible bed, insufficient air conditioning unit that is as old as the building (built into the wall), and a breakfast buffet that had food that looked a week old.” Sep 15, 2008 by
Leonard
“Wonderful experience.” Sep 12, 2008 by
Eric from Falling Waters, WV
“Overall, a nice place to stay. Only complaints: Our sheets didn't get changed at all during the 5 night stay. The pool chemicals were really strong and turned by bathing suit a different color and tarnished a silver ring I was wearing. I liked the free internet computers, the laundry room I made use of, the kids loved the pool and our room was huge. They did service our room every day.” Sep 11, 2008 by
Lynette from Central Point, OR
“We enjoyed our stay at the Crowne Plaza. We found the staff accommodating at check in. The room was clean with pleasant little surprises such as the sleep sound gift package. We utilized the fitness center, finding it well appointed and enjoyed a soak in the indoor Jacuzzi before bed.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Nancy from Staunton, VA
“Fort Magruder Crowne Plaza is large and well-run. Rooms are spacious, and walls are thick enough that noise from adjoining rooms is incidental. We would stay there again.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Curtis from Richmond, VA
“I will love to stay at this hotel again. I will also recommend this hotel to my family and friends.” Sep 9, 2008 by
Cassidy from Miami Beach, FL
“This hotel is very close to all attractions in Williamsburg and easy to get to from the highway. The rooms were nicely decorated and the staff pleasant.” Sep 7, 2008 by
Jen from Columbus, OH
“The location of the hotel was pretty good. It was only about a 5 minute drive to downtown Williamsburg. You could walk it if you were pretty fit, but it would probably take a good 20 minutes or longer. We were just too lazy, so we drove. The area seemed safe and was easily accessible. The hotel room was not very clean, had a strange odor and the bathroom was too small. I barely had enough room to get changed in the bathroom and kept hitting my elbow on the wall. Our pillows smelled like sweat and looked as though they had dried stuff on them. Eww! We called to get them replaced and they apologized. The hallway noise was pretty bad and the walls seemed very thin. We had a family with children staying next door and they would wake us up very early playing around. The housekeeping staff in the hallways was too loud, but I think it was just that the walls and door were too thin. On a positive note, the outdoor area behind the hotel that surrounded the pool was very nice and peaceful with lots of trees. We also had a balcony which overlooked this area. We had a nice view of the trees and pool. The folks in the pool got to be rather loud, which was to be expected, but it closed before bed time, so it was not a problem. We did so much exploring that we did not spend much time at the hotel, so it was not a big issue for us. I think the hotel is overdue for renovations, but not bad if you are on a budget.”
