“The Chauncey facility can accommodate groups of any size, and has excellent outdoor spaces for retreat and quiet reflection.” Apr 12, 2007 by
Tim from Oakland, CA
“Comfortable and spacious surrounds but need car to get to any form of eatery or entertainment.” Mar 16, 2007 by
Joe from Minneapolis, MN
“Excellent accommodations” Mar 8, 2007 by
David from Lutherville, MD
“You have to realize that this not your typical hotel. It is a conference center on the campus of educational testing services, the folks who administer the sat tests. It appears that all of the other guests are attending conferences at the facility. It is a little hard to find, and there is absolutely nothing close by. It is about 15 minutes away from Princeton and about that from route 1, where there are plenty of restaurants, etc. The room was very nice, and the grounds looked lovely, though it was dark and rainy when we were there.” Mar 8, 2007 by
Elliott from Boca Raton, FL
“The location is way off the beaten path and even with good directions and a map quest, we had to call and have them walk us through the directions via our cell phone several times. The signs (1 on each entrance are ground level and are not lighted) and according to township laws cannot be lit. There are no street lights along the way. The complex needs renovating and is not up to the standards of our previous hotels in this area.” Mar 6, 2007 by
Stephanie C. from Reston, VA
“Overall the hotel is fine given the price. However, it is out of the way and I would rather pay an extra $10 to be located closer to the business corridor.” Feb 25, 2007 by
William from San Antonio, TX
“Not convenient to anything what so ever.” Jan 28, 2007 by
David from Haymarket, VA
“While the room and bed are relatively comfortable, the hotel amenities are poor. The restaurant is not open for breakfast until 7am (late for business travelers) and even at 7:00 the food was bland and cold. They advertise that they have a "fitness center" but the equipment is 10-15 years old with several pieces not operational. ” Jan 25, 2007 by
Jared from Santiago, Chile
“A bit strange, but when it comes to finding a hotel in Princeton, the whole experience is strange. There is basically only one hotel in the city, and it seems that the city keeps corporate America out. All hotels seem to be about 5-10 miles from Princeton university, with the exception of the Nassau inn. Chauncey "hotel" is very nice and pleasant. There was a lot of room noise, so I really felt for the close rooms as our child was crying during the night.” Dec 20, 2006 by
Ashok from Richmond, VA
“Not a three star hotel, parts of the hotel are very old.” Nov 22, 2006 by
Sondra from Highland, NY
“Charming and friendly in nice surrounding area. more like a lodge than a cold hotel. front desk staff were wonderful. rooms had high ceilings and tiny terraces. spacious feeling. beds were comfortable and the bathroom was good with ample counterspace. closet had plenty of room. lighting was nice. breakfast in the hotel was standard. Several areas with leather couches and fireplaces were a nice touch. the free coffee was actually good.” Nov 15, 2006 by
Laura from Nashua, NH
“Chauncey was a welcome change to the corporate zoo on route 1. Although out of the way for some, the setting is lovely and quiet. I was afraid it wouldn't be kid friendly, but the staff was very welcoming to my 4, 5 and 8 year olds. We didn't eat any meals there, but the free coffee in the lobby was a nice extra as we began our day. The linens and beds were excellent. My only complaint is that the bathrooms need to be updated.” Nov 4, 2006 by
Lois from Tampa, FL
“We stayed here in Dec 2005 & Oct 25-28, 2006. It is located in a lovely location among a group of buildings comprising the Chauncey complex. They do some sort of educational testing. We always get manage to get lost as the two lane roads criss cross, different websites give different directions, Bristol Myers Squibb headquarters takes up an enormous area close to the hotel & we always seem to arrive late at night. There is no lighted sign & it is difficult to see the small sign that simply says Chauncey. There is free coffee/tea in the lobby in the AM, USA today delivered to the room M-F, a lobby area with a gas fireplace. There was a wedding & reception while we were there. Our room had two double beds, the linen was fresh/clean, and towels were plentiful. We were visiting relatives in nearby Lawrence, NJ. Saw deer on the grounds. We would be happy to return on our next trip to NJ.” Oct 30, 2006 by
Larry from Bronx, NY
“Remote location, but very pretty setting. Room was well appointed, but some appliances, like CD-alarm clock and coffee pot did not work well. (CD not at all). Overall service is good and price paid is OK but not outstanding as before. Rooms generally clean and comfortable and even slightly upscale, beds comfortable, but bed linens were not changed on arrival!” Oct 28, 2006 by
Robert from Nashua NH
“I was put on a Murphy bed in an almost bare conference room with bath. The hotel is hard to find in the dark -- no lit signs at all. They lost my reservation. No one was at the front desk to check out at 7:30 AM.” Oct 28, 2006 by
Robert from Nashua, NH
“This hotel gave me a Murphy bed conference room with nothing on the walls, and spare furniture. No one was at the desk at 7:30 AM to check me out. I left the key and walked out. Awful. I would rather have been at Motel 6.” Oct 19, 2006 by
Linda from Brighton, MA
“This hotel was a pleasant surprise - a very nice hotel with the amenities of a gym, courts outside, and comfortable rooms all for a very affordable price. I would definitely recommend this to travelers looking to be close to the Princeton center.” Oct 5, 2006 by
Jack from Carlsbad, CA
“This was a bucolic experience with fine accompaniments: great beds, room arrangements. It is worth the difficulty finding the place, but some may be put off because it is a distance to anything else.” Sep 22, 2006 by
Sandy from Kingwood, TX
“Hotel was hard to find because it's part of ETS and I didn't know that. There was one staff member who was in need of diversity training, and he approach me as though I couldn't or wouldn't be staying there. This really offended me.” Sep 19, 2006 by
Rogelia from Corona, CA
“Excellent service, clean and private.” Sep 18, 2006 by
Chris from Woodinville, WA
“This hotel is close to downtown Princeton, yet removed from busy highways. The grounds are expansive. The rooms are large. It is mainly geared toward conference participants, but overall it is a fine place to stay. I am not sure kids would enjoy this hotel; it is oriented more toward business travelers.” Sep 14, 2006 by
Ashok from Richmond, VA
“Not a 3 star hotel. It may be a new management, but needs to get their act together.” Sep 13, 2006 by
Jo-Ann from West Babylon, NY
“Beds were comfortable. Liked the balcony and cathedral ceiling in our room. The decor was more wood and stone and less brass and frilly furniture. Comfortable leather chairs by the fireplace. They had fruit in the lobby in the afternoon and the morning. Our room overlooked the two large ponds and fountains. They had tennis, a pool, and of course, you could take a walk around the grounds. I very much liked that it was not on a main highway and felt secluded. Had a relaxing stay.” Sep 11, 2006 by
Melissa from Columbus, OH
“Clean rooms. Friendly environment. Pool, tea time, etc.” Aug 29, 2006 by
Neill N. from Newark, DE
“This is a great hotel with very nice rooms. It's a bit antiseptic in that it is intended for business travelers. The location of this hotel is the only thing that would give me pause about staying here again. It took a 15 minute drive to get to the downtown Princeton area and another 15 to get to the main highways. Once you arrive, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable, and the staff is wonderful.” Aug 28, 2006 by
Rob from West Hartford, CT
“I was looking for regular hotel. Although it was at a 3 star level, You should have the option to accept or decline this style of hotel” Aug 24, 2006 by
Tom from Neptune, NJ
“Although the facility was nice and the rooms comfortable, it did take me 3 times to actually get the bed type that I had requested the day before I arrived. I had requested a king and was assured that it wouldn't be a problem. When I checked in, I was given 2 double beds. I went back to the front desk and was given a new room. This time there was 1 double bed. When I returned to the front desk, I was told there were no king size rooms available - which was a joke, since seemingly, there was no one else staying there. It finally took the manager to settle the issue and get me a king size bed.” Aug 23, 2006 by
Franklin from Vernon, CT
“This hotel is in a nice area with spacious grounds which one can explore. It was a relaxing place to walk around, the front desk staff were very friendly. A couple of problems which were important to note, however. First, the bath tub area was not clean. The bottom of the tub looked and felt unclean, there were even some hairs in the bath tub. I told the front desk staff about it, after the first night. The next day, the bathtub was again not clean. In addition, the cleaning staff did not replenish the shampoo or soaps. So, the staff I interacted with were nice, grounds, were nice, but room needed better cleaning - which is gross.” Aug 21, 2006 by
Joel from Clarksville, TN
“Do not try to find this place in the dark. The signs are not illuminated, and it is in a rural setting. It was very difficult and frustrating to locate. Once I found it, I was placed in a room in a separate building, and there were no visible signs on the ground to direct me to the particular building. Then, once I found it, there were no elevators, and I had an upper room. The room was tiny. I had been told when I checked in that breakfast would be included in the building my room was in. I found the breakfast laid out for some other guests, but no dishes for me. When I inquired at the front desk they then told me that breakfast was NOT included in my stay. I actually found the staff at the very least unhelpful, both at check-in and check-out. I would never stay at this property again.” Aug 16, 2006 by
Deborah from Ottawa, CA
“Large, spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Quiet and comfortable.” Jul 26, 2006 by
Scott from East Hartford, CT
“Great Hotel with great rooms. Staff helped us with every need. Can't wait to go back.” Jul 20, 2006 by
Krishna K. from Westland, MI
“This hotel is in the middle of no where - far, far away in the woods! If you're driving to it, don't plan on finding it at night time. It's hard as it is during day time. Once you find it, it's not a bad deal. The staff is friendly, very good rooms, comfortable beds, decent workout area, outdoor pool is ok. The food selection at the restaurant is not the greatest but since every thing's far away, I ended up eating there. They have a courtesy shuttle that can drop you off in Princeton downtown area or at the train station.” Jul 19, 2006 by
Sreenivasa from Maple Shade, NJ
“Good Place. Should definitely try it once with the family.” Jul 19, 2006 by
Audrey from Portland, OR
“Nice place, best for business travelers, not for vacationers. Food options are very limited on- or near-site. It's room service or vending machines. Having fridges in the room would help the casual or more economically-minded traveler.” Jul 17, 2006 by
Ted from Macedon, NY
“Chauncey conference center is a weird Hotel in the middle of nowhere. If you have business with ETS, this is perfect for you, if not I would choose a more central location. The rooms are well appointed, but the rooms and in fact the entire property are all "strange" the configuration, finishes, ambiance, it seemed more like a dentist off ice with beds than a 3 star hotel.” Jul 16, 2006 by
Mike from Durham, NH
“I was very pleased with this hotel - I would stay here again. Very clean, professional, great beds for sleeping.” Jul 6, 2006 by
Div from Ashland, MA
“Was very happy with the price, stay and comfort. Also loved the tennis court, basket ball court and outdoor pool” Jun 21, 2006 by
Paul from Swedesboro, NJ
“We mostly enjoyed the visit but when we returned after the first day out, the room was not cleaned. Other than that we thank you for the good experience.” Jun 21, 2006 by
Jeff from Miami Beach, FL
“We had a very nice stay at the Chauncey. The room was nice and quiet, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location was good for us (visiting the Princeton area), but might be inconvenient for others.” Jun 14, 2006 by
Joe from Rochester, NY
“We were there for the ODP soccer tournament. Good in that it was relatively covenants to the tournament and the price was right.” Jun 14, 2006 by
Bethany from Fitzwilliam, NH
“The Chauncey Conference Center is located on extensive well-groomed grounds in Princeton, NJ. The hotel itself is a beautiful, old hotel; with spacious rooms that have tapered ceilings. The rooms are beginning to show signs of wear, and the parking lot is not easily accessed to the rooms. Make sure that you make the time to enjoy the beautiful nature trails on your visit.” Jun 11, 2006 by
Jason from Metairie, LA
“Very comfortable rooms, beautiful surroundings, although you need a car to do anything in the Princeton area. The hotel does have a shuttle that goes back and forth to downtown Princeton. The grounds are nicely maintained. Some days, breakfast was provided in the lobby, while other days not even coffee was provided. Highly recommended.” May 24, 2006 by
Chris from Philadelphia, PA
“Great location, hidden from city, very peaceful campus with trails and pond. very quite on the weekends. beds are very comfortable!” May 11, 2006 by
Adrian from Centreville, VA
“Pros: 4-5 mile from downtown Princeton, decent hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff, free high speed Internet, good room service. Cons: Building looks really old on the outside which is a bit scary when you get there. There is a bad smell on the hallways. Patio door card access didn't work. ” May 9, 2006 by
Mike from Mont Alto, PA
“The hotel was great. Staff was friendly. Great beds and large bathrooms. Would stay there again.” May 4, 2006 by
Larry from Bronx, NY
“Remote location is made up for by very quiet semi-rural setting with beautiful understated architecture and fine recreational amenities. Touches like free newspapers, bottled water, coffee service, and very nice public spaces. Rooms all have spacious feel, vaulted ceilings, and are nicely appointed, comfortable and clean.” May 4, 2006 by
Mike from Williamsport, PA
“Overall very nice and comfortable just a little difficult to find later at night in the dark.” May 3, 2006 by
Linda from Ithaca, NY
“Hard to find. Very clean, comfortable surroundings. I won't go back because of the managers on duty.” Apr 26, 2006 by
Jonathan from West Tisbury, MA
“I've been here a number of times before, and it's my favorite hotel in the area. Only two things are missing: the Disney Channel and an indoor pool. One thing that sets it aside from the other hotels is its size; it feel more like a lodge than a hotel.” Apr 24, 2006 by
Larry from Lafayette, CA
“Great rooms on many acres of beautiful wooded country estate with excellent amenities. Beautiful tennis courts and dining room. Best value in the area if remote. I would give it my highest rating, except that for my first night, they were overbooked and bounced me to another hotel in the area for 1 night. I found this to be unacceptable. The manager made up for it by providing complementary breakfast buffet for the other nights.” Hotel Representatives:
