“Lovely, tranquil, well appointed. Would stay there again.” Jun 20, 2009 by
Gary from Franklin,TN
“Kind of a remote location. Nice grounds. Quite a walk to room from front entrance. Need in room refrigerator. Spotless.” Jun 14, 2009 by
Frederick from Tempe,AZ
“Fine hotel and nice room.” Apr 30, 2009 by
karen from Leeds,MA
“Excellent accommodations.” Feb 10, 2009 by
Nikky from Monmouth Junction,NJ
“This hotel had large spacious rooms and was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The layout of the hotel was sprawling and there is ample free parking. I did not use the room service or restaurant.” Oct 30, 2008 by
Micheal
“This hotel is located in a secluded spot close to Princeton University. The accommodations were very nice and the buffet breakfast (complimentary) was awesome. The only downside was that due to its secluded location, no pizza delivery was available.” Sep 14, 2008 by
Marc from Herndon, VA
“Excellent overall, beautiful setting for walking and jogging trails. Fixed dinner menu a little expensive and pub is ok. Breakfast on patio was very relaxing. Liked free wireless availability. A little touch to find. Need better street signs.” Sep 6, 2008 by
Carol from Uniontown, PA
“I liked it very much.” Aug 28, 2008 by
Dave from Baldwin, MD
“Rooms are spacious and the grounds and facilities are wonderful. Great location.” Aug 10, 2008 by
Randy from Virginia Beach, VA
“Needs updating, out of the way location, friendly staff.” Jul 20, 2008 by
Steve from Sayville, NJ
“I stayed at this hotel July 2008 with my wife for a business trip. The closet area had what appeared to be pen marks and scuffs all over it as well - not important but doesn't give a clean appearance. The room carpet looked worn as well. The room also had moths in it. I suspect the moths came in from the outside as there was a door that leads to a small deck, though we never opened it. I was too exhausted to request a new room, but I did have to call down because the air conditioner appeared to not be working. The room was 81 Degrees upon first entering it - not a good first impression. The person who came up to help was very nice and mentioned that the unit takes time to kick on. The room cooled down fine once the air conditioner was working. The facility itself was very clean overall and looked maintained. The people who worked at the front desk were very pleasant as well.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Richard from Seattle, WA
“When we arrived at the hotel we were told our room had engineering issues and would not be available. It would have been nice if they could have called. They sent us to another hotel over 20 min away. When we arrived, the original hotel had not yet arranged for our stay at this next hotel. We then called the 1st hotel and they indicated it would be taken care of. An hour later, it still had not.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Dave from Middletown, CT
“Great hotel for business conferences. Not meant for family stays.” Jun 30, 2008 by
Pam from Branford, CT
“I'd stay again, it is a wonderful spot, quiet, the room was clean, bed was comfortable, great work-out room and outdoor heated pool, tennis, walking, hiking trails, food, pretty good, a bit pricey for the dinner buffet but okay. Full breakfast and room was very nice as well.” May 1, 2008 by
Ivy from Palo Alto, CA
“Nice environment, friendly staff and convenient location to me.” Mar 24, 2008 by
Ann from Cranbury, NJ
“It was easy checking in. Secluded and very rich interior. Country grounds were beautiful and well manicured. Room was cushy and well "pillowed"! Roomy and warm. Bathroom tub was adequate and the private porch was very nice.” Jan 15, 2008 by
Jeff from Boston
“We had a lovely stay. The grounds are spacious with a nature trail. The beds were incredible and the staff friendly. We would come again.” Nov 25, 2007 by
Joseph from Phila, PA
“Great place to stay.” Nov 12, 2007 by
John from Marietta, GA
“I have stayed at this location on several occasions and always cringe when it comes up. The hotel is not a 3 star location. The rooms are damp, the service is consistent with a 2 star, and the location is way off the beaten path.” Oct 14, 2007 by
Donald from Lake Worth, FL
“Friendly desk staff. Road in not sufficiently signed. You dont know its there. The parent corp. is listed on sign thats almost invisible at night. The grounds are beautiful and were we there longer could have explored the assets of the center but it was just a sleepover.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Chris from Allentown, PA
“Excellent experience overall with only some semi rude folks at the front desk.” Oct 4, 2007 by
Paul from Nags Head, NC
“Excellent hotel.” Sep 25, 2007 by
Russell from Marietta, GA
“This hotel was just too far (6 miles) out from everything and was hard to find even with goggle-earth. You need a rental car to get to and from Princeton, NJ or any other location; it was not a four-star hotel - maybe 2.5. It is a conference center for businesses to hold meetings like its name Emplies.” Sep 24, 2007 by
Jenn from Whitehouse Station, NJ
“The hotel was in a nice, but sort of odd location. Very close to main part of Princeton. I thought they could have found a better time to paint the hallways than 5-7 P.M. The room wasn't much nicer than staying at one of the better Days Inns, but over twice the price.” Sep 19, 2007 by
Neal from Westmount, QC CA
“Great location with decor apparently unchanged since 1980's. Very quiet and comfortable accommodation in wooded surroundings just a few miles away from the university of Princeton.” Sep 17, 2007 by
Neil from Arlington, TX
“Very disappointing compared to other hotels in same class. Would receive a good rating as a 2 star hotel.” Sep 17, 2007 by
Craig from Hermosa Beach, CA
“The staff is friendly, the grounds are very nice. The worst thing about the hotel is that it is far off any major road and you will never find it using an online map service, you will have to call for directions. It took me over 30 minutes to locate the hotel in the dark. The room is simple but is ample on space and the high speed internet is one of the fastest I have had anywhere. Parking is far away from the rooms. Leave this hotel to the conferences and company gatherings that are to last several days, no overnights for business travelers here.” Sep 15, 2007 by
Sharon from Palatine, IL
“This hotel was very pleasant. The view outside my room was beautiful and quaint. I had a small little patio with chairs to sit outside. The staff was extremely pleasing and kind” Sep 15, 2007 by
Larry from Lafayette, CA
“This hotel has been slipping over recent months/years. The price has gone up. Given remote location, mediocre and sometimes indifferent service, and noisy rooms, you're better off getting the Doubletree, The Wyndahm, the Hyatt or even Hyatt Place. The kiss of death was the almost shower that I was subjected to. Why on earth would anyone "upgrade" the shower heads to that plastic flow-restricted garbage without taking one home first and trying it out for 5 minutes? For shame. A night's stay without a decent shower takes this property from an 8 to a 4. Sorry ETS, you will get your head out of the politically correct space and think of your customers more.” Aug 19, 2007 by
Maggie from Huntsville, AL
“Tucked away on the ETS campus, the Chauncey Conference Center hotel was quiet and comfortable. It had the amenities I needed as a business traveler, and the hotel staffs were friendly. My room was large, clean, and comfortable.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Phil from West Hartford, CT
“Aside from having trouble finding the hotel in the dark, this was a great value. Kids eat breakfast for free and the food was amazing for a 3 star. The rural setting and beautiful land surrounding the hotel really sets this place above the others that you'd traditionally find on route one. I'd go back again.” Aug 12, 2007 by
Louise from Seattle, WA
“Modern and well-designed facility with beautiful grounds, well-cared for and comfortable rooms. Great beds! Nice swimming pool and exercise room facilities. Would be great for a business conference. Pleasant with older children. Not very close to town and not much for younger kids to do. Staff pleasant and helpful.” Aug 1, 2007 by
Karen from Binghamton, NY
“I thought the Chauncey was a great place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful. The location of the hotel is 'out there' and you may feel like you are going the wrong way or are lost - but, it is worth it!” Jul 22, 2007 by
Amy from Lexington, KY
“While a bit out of the way, this hotel was a fantastic find. Even with a four year old, this rather bookish hotel was family friendly with gorgeous surroundings, pool, and nature trails. If in the area again, I would certainly try to book at this location again. The hotel dining options were limited and not created with small children in mind, but there were many restaurants located a 10-15 minute drive away on Route 1.” Jul 16, 2007 by
Rachel from Algood, TN
“Did not like the walk from the parking lot to the front entrance. The room hallways felt spooky; dismal, felt like you were the only one staying on that floor. Dreaded even having to go and get ice, 1-2 inch gap (opening) under the door. Nice people. Think they were doing a good job. The place just felt weird. Outdated. Back in time.” Jul 2, 2007 by
Teri from Alexandria, VA
“The hotel is unsafe, and lacks even the simplest of items that any hotel room should have. While on a large and lovely campus, The Chauncey lacks all of my expectations of even a 2 star hotel. The wall had electricity plugs falling out. They literally pulled out of the wall when I unplugged my computer. The phone did not ring to my room. The result was that I never knew I had a wake up call, people who called, did not get through, etc. While a minor thing, the result of this minor detail not being attended to was the police looking for me, as no one could find or communicate with me in the evenings of my stay. Upon telling the staff about the problem, they indicated that they could not have known the problem prior to a guest reporting it. The rooms are moldy and musty. The bed in the room was a Murphy bed, so incredibly uncomfortable that I slept on top of the comforter to get more cushion. The internet connection was across the room from the "desk." There was no cord for the internet connection. The desk was no larger than 6 inches wide. It was impossible to use. The electricity went out twice. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially if you expect a room with standard items like safe wall plugs and phones that actually work. It was a horrible stay.” Jun 30, 2007 by
Terry from Lititz, PA
“Very impressive. Beyond expectations, I would stay there again it a second. They do however need more signage directing people to the location.” May 14, 2007 by
Debbi from Webster, NY
“Read on-line about the balconies and patios off the rooms, however, my parents had a patio and we did not. I was very disappointed.” May 13, 2007 by
James from Falls Church, VA
“Set in a weird campus in the middle of nowhere, the Chauncey might work as a retreat, but is not suitable for the business traveler working in Princeton.” May 2, 2007 by
Ethan from Sparta, NJ
“Great location, secluded only about 7 or 8 minutes out of Princeton, the most comfortable bed Iżve ever slept in, fantastic breakfast buffet, super friendly staff.” Apr 30, 2007 by
Jr from Glen Ellyn, IL
“The Chauncey facility can accommodate groups of any size, and has excellent outdoor spaces for retreat and quiet reflection.” Apr 12, 2007 by
Tim from Oakland, CA
“Comfortable and spacious surrounds but need car to get to any form of eatery or entertainment.” Mar 16, 2007 by
Joe from Minneapolis, MN
“Excellent accommodations” Mar 8, 2007 by
David from Lutherville, MD
“You have to realize that this not your typical hotel. It is a conference center on the campus of educational testing services, the folks who administer the sat tests. It appears that all of the other guests are attending conferences at the facility. It is a little hard to find, and there is absolutely nothing close by. It is about 15 minutes away from Princeton and about that from route 1, where there are plenty of restaurants, etc. The room was very nice, and the grounds looked lovely, though it was dark and rainy when we were there.” Mar 8, 2007 by
Elliott from Boca Raton, FL
“The location is way off the beaten path and even with good directions and a map quest, we had to call and have them walk us through the directions via our cell phone several times. The signs (1 on each entrance are ground level and are not lighted) and according to township laws cannot be lit. There are no street lights along the way. The complex needs renovating and is not up to the standards of our previous hotels in this area.” Mar 6, 2007 by
Stephanie C. from Reston, VA
“Overall the hotel is fine given the price. However, it is out of the way and I would rather pay an extra $10 to be located closer to the business corridor.” Feb 25, 2007 by
William from San Antonio, TX
“Not convenient to anything what so ever.” Jan 28, 2007 by
David from Haymarket, VA
“While the room and bed are relatively comfortable, the hotel amenities are poor. The restaurant is not open for breakfast until 7am (late for business travelers) and even at 7:00 the food was bland and cold. They advertise that they have a "fitness center" but the equipment is 10-15 years old with several pieces not operational. ” Jan 25, 2007 by
Jared from Santiago, Chile
“A bit strange, but when it comes to finding a hotel in Princeton, the whole experience is strange. There is basically only one hotel in the city, and it seems that the city keeps corporate America out. All hotels seem to be about 5-10 miles from Princeton university, with the exception of the Nassau inn. Chauncey "hotel" is very nice and pleasant. There was a lot of room noise, so I really felt for the close rooms as our child was crying during the night.” Dec 20, 2006 by
Ashok from Richmond, VA
“Not a three star hotel, parts of the hotel are very old.”
