“I didn't need a reservation. I just went their and they had a room, and I didn't have to pay by credit card either. I paid cash. The staff was very nice and helpful and the shuttle service was great. The shuttle took me to Harper Hospital and then to Union Station for dinner, and back to the Inn. The room I was in, was on the third floor. The room was clean and neat. The only thing that the room was to hot for my liking but the staff took care of that also. The breakfast they have is great if you go away hungry it is your own fault. It took me a little bit to find the place but I didn't and still don't know nothing about Detroit. I only stayed their one night while someone in my family was at Harper Hospital but if I ever need to go back to Detroit for anything, would stay their. Also, would tell all my family and friends to stay their. The room I had, I got on a special.” Apr 21, 2008 by
Wendi from Littleton, CO
“The hotel is quaint and the staff extremely friendly. The rooms are nicely appointed and very clean. The neighborhood right outside the hotel is okay but a few blocks away looked a little sketchy. Overall the hotel was wonderful and I highly recommend it.” Mar 16, 2008 by
Christina from Walker, MI
“The staff was very friendly. We liked the free shuttle service they had. We had no problems. We were very comfortable. There wasn't a lot of noise and we weren't bothered.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Carl from Grand Haven, MI
“I have managed 3 to 5 star resorts and hotels for 20 years, The Inn on Ferry Street is a GREAT Property that is run well by staff and managers who show that they care for their Inn and their Guests! Very Good value: No charge for secure and well lit parking, Very Nice hot breakfast included, and complimentary van transportation in and around Downtown area. Very convenient, quiet, and safe. Room was very well equipped and appointed with high quality linens. A selection of Jazz, Blues, and Classical CD's was provided for the Sony CD alarm clock. Highly recommend The Inn on Ferry Street, and will plan on staying here on future visits to Detroit.” Jan 25, 2008 by
Deborah from Canton, OH
“The staff was great, except housekeeping. I think they got an attitude when I complained about the pillows stinking so bad. It seems they retaliated by cranking the heat to 90 degrees, not giving us fresh glasses (just turned the old ones over) and not returning the pillows. We went out and bought new toothbrushes because we were afraid of what they may have done with ours. The room was not at all what we expected. It had no atmosphere or character like the ones in the brochure.” Jan 7, 2008 by
Rachel from Northwood, OH
“The hotel was a good value for the money. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I loved the decor and atmosphere of the rooms and the lobbies. I will stay there again. The hotel could be a romantic getaway as well.” Jan 6, 2008 by
Curry from South Haven, MI
“A beautifully restored home - and a cut above a good bed & breakfast. The staff was courteous and super-friendly and their shuttle service went beyond the call of duty on New Year's Eve. A delightful place and experience.” Dec 16, 2007 by
Tovie from Columbus, OH
“Very close to Downtown, convenient, clean, and quaint. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.” Nov 21, 2007 by

“The Inn on Ferry Street is a totally unique and pleasant experience. It's gorgeous restoration and furnishings take you back to the hey day of Detroit, and give hope for Detroits ongoing recovery. We have stayed there three times, and will return again and again. We especially appreciate the free shuttle service to all Downtown Detroit venues (we stay there when we attend the opera; we are driven there safely and efficiently by the Inn's competent and graciously helpful driver) and the safe parking for our own vehicle. We also enjoy the sumptuous breakfast in the Arts and Crafts restored dining room, and the availability of the small bar in the sitting room. Try this Inn and see some of the beauties of Detroit. You will be delightfully surprised!” Nov 8, 2007 by
Kaleb from Milwaukee, WI
“Decent service. Loved the old restored feel. Breakfast was great. Shuttle around town was awesome. Disliked the wedding rehearsal dinner that wasn't broken down that night and was still there when we checked out the next day. We weren't even part of the event.” Oct 2, 2007 by
Sharon from Clarkston, MI
“We felt cradled in history and yet surrounded by convenience and modern amenities. The room was charming and homey without being gimmicky, our entire building was elegantly done, a room with great high ceilings, bright windows and lovely furnishings and fireplace. The rare convenience of a shuttle service all times of the day was great as were the extremely friendly staff. Breakfast was a sheer delight complete with fresh flowers on each table. The landscaping was lovely as well. Be sure to read the history in the back hall of the main house. Fascinating.” Sep 3, 2007 by
Sheryl from Wilmington, OH
“The inn was a wonderful place to stay. The rooms were spotless, the beds were comfortable, and you really felt safe staying there. Any problems were promptly attended to by the staff. The expanded continental breakfast was the great, especially the waffles! We will definitely be staying there again.” Aug 28, 2007 by

“Great location, wonderful service, historical settings and lots of human interest in the history of the places.” Aug 10, 2007 by

“We only stayed one night but I would have loved to stay longer. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the rooms was beautiful, the breakfast was good. We used the shuttle to go to dinner and the driver was friendly and helpful.” Jun 28, 2007 by
Ainsley from Guelph, ON CA
“This was our second stay at the this hotel and we were again completely satisfied with our stay. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and our rooms were clean and beautiful. The shuttle (which Rob drives) is a great way to get around for free within Detroit and the morning breakfast is delicious.” Jun 21, 2007 by
James from Garland, TX
“The inn on ferry street is a refined, beautiful bed and breakfast inn. It is ideal for the business traveler or couples out to experience all that Detroit offers. Its location offers easy access to downtown museums and the ballpark. It is a short drive to the ford museum and Greenfield village. Suffice to say, it is where we will stay on our next trip to Detroit!” Jun 21, 2007 by
Beth from Gaithersburg, MD
“This was my second stay at the inn on ferry street, but definitely not my last! I love this little bib, because of the home-y feel they give me while I travel to Detroit on business. Free wireless internet and free breakfast are two of the things I look for in a hotel/bib. The inn on ferry street excels far beyond any hotel in the Detroit area, and is close to everything! I can't wait to return!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 21, 2007 by

“It is in the Detroit cultural center near, the Detroit institute of arts, science museum, African museum, historical museum, and Wayne state university. A short bus ride to tiger stadium and ford field, combo hall and Joe Louis arena, hart plaza and downtown businesses. Great location for reasonable price.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 15, 2007 by

“The shuttle service is a winner and everyone who worked there was warm and friendly, even when my buddy tried to put blueberries in the waffle maker. The business center is also very useful if you are traveling without a PC - and there's no charge to use it to look up places to visit or eat in Detroit or for checking email. Overall, the rooms exceeded all expectations and service was tremendously accommodating - if you are in Detroit and want to experience something special - try the inn on ferry street.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 4, 2007 by

“We found the bed to be quite comfortable, and the room was very clean. The bathroom was modern and spacious. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The complimentary continental breakfast each morning was very good, and a nice way to start the day. I would definitely stay at the inn on ferry street again.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 21, 2007 by

“A charming location with easy access to Detroit¿s downtown core. We used it for an immigration interview, but it would also be excellent for business travelers or people looking for a place to stay overnight for a concert or sporting event. Highly recommended.” May 9, 2007 by
Michelle from Bath, NY
“Great! Appreciated the price and quality and comfort of the facilities. Disappointment was #14 above. Still would have stayed there but disappointed I did not receive what was presented. Room was sufficient and comfortable but not deluxe shown. Overall, still rate my stay an 8-9.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 19, 2007 by

“Great place to stay if coming to Detroit for sporting events, business, Henry ford museum, romance, etc. Beautiful atmosphere, comfortable, nice staff, what else can I say, I highly recommend this hotel.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 18, 2007 by

“This is a well kept bed and breakfast in several old mansions in downtown Detroit. Several museums are within walking distance. The breakfast is very good with an assortment of fruits, cereals, breads, yogurt, waffles, eggs, and coffee cake. The common areas are warm and inviting with stuffed chairs and couches and fireplaces. Starbucks coffee service is available around the clock. The only challenging aspect was that restaurants and fitness facilities were not close although the hotel had a free shuttle to take you to these places and 2 restaurants provided carry in service. Most of the time I was there it was business travelers using the hotel. I understand they cater to couples also for romantic getaways. All in all for the price it was a great place. The rooms were all different--yet spacious, clean and comfortable. I recommend it highly.” Mar 16, 2007 by
Phil from Lapeer, MI
“The inn on ferry street is a collection of stately mansions in mid-town Detroit. Each room is custom decorated with a flare of the early 1900's. Located near many nice restaurants, theatres, casinos and the rising downtown area.” Mar 15, 2007 by
Brion from Lansing, MI
“Excellent location in Detroit, great old neighborhood, beautiful houses. We are going to stay again with several friends for a hockey game.” Mar 4, 2007 by
Beth from Gaithersburg, MD
“My stay at inn on ferry street was probably the best I have ever had at a bed and breakfast! The staff is extremely friendly; the shuttle van drivers are very accommodating (taking me to an ATM before dinner, etc) and informative (giving me a mini tour of Detroit before dropping me off at the hotel). The rooms are amazingly well furnished for a historic b&b. It's true. The beds are so comfortable; you almost can't get out of them! The shower was super clean, but the water pressure is a bit on the low side. The wireless internet worked wonderfully for all my business traveler needs. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, and included banana bread waffles, apple cinnamon waffles, regular waffles, three different juices, star bucks coffee (in room, too), cereal bars, oatmeal¿s, pastries, and varied fresh fruits. My only complaint is that I couldn't find an elevator. That's to be expected for a historic building, but I injured my knee one day and had to hobble up three flights of stairs to my room. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this bib and would instantly recommend it to all friends, family, and colleagues!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 25, 2007 by

“Was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The room was small, but had all I needed for my own night stay. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, and early morning staff was very bright and friendly. If traveling to Detroit again, this is where I will stay!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 14, 2007 by

“Everything about my experience at the inn was exceptional, including all the extra help after my car didn't start when I got ready to leave. Throughout my stay I felt attended to and safe. It's a lovely place.” Jan 26, 2007 by
Rebekah from New York, NY
“This is a beautifully restored group of historical houses in downtown Detroit which serve as a hotel. The rooms are comfortable and very clean and up to date. If you don't stay in the main house where breakfast is served you have to walk between buildings but that is not a big deal. Although the area of town is marginal I never felt that security was an issue. Staff was friendly and the free shuttle got me where I needed to be on time.” Jan 22, 2007 by
John from Rescue, CA
“I would highly recommend it. Next trip mi plan to stay here again.” Dec 14, 2006 by
Robin from Lansing, MI
“I was sold on the history of the houses. The beauty and the connivance to my meeting location were the major selling points in choosing this hotel. I do hope they retrain their staff. The customer service is what brings this place down. I could live without an ice machine, which is minor. I did not get the attention I deserve at the time of check-in and check-out. The feeling I got from the staff is I should be grateful that there was a room for me in this hotel. When in my mind they should be grateful that I choose them from all the other hotels out there. The front desk staff is exposed to their clients for 5-15 minutes with that short time, they should make a positive impression. They didn't.” Dec 6, 2006 by
Kathy from Howell, MI
“An unexpected gem in the city- beautifully redone, romantic, friendly.” Nov 17, 2006 by
Lauren from Royal Oak, MI
“We enjoyed everything about the experience at this unique and beautiful hotel. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was a little bit hard to find but the free shuttle was very easy to use and took us back and forth from the hotel to downtown with virtually no wait. The hotel room was very clean and the bed was the most comfortable that I have ever slept in at a hotel.” Oct 27, 2006 by
Eric# from London, ON CA
“A welcoming b and b type hotel, close to downtown but not right in the commercial district---free parking---free wireless internet, a good shuttle to theaters, sports events, concerts and restaurants, with a friendly and helpful driver, a good light breakfast, quiet and clean rooms” Sep 22, 2006 by
Diana from Jenison, MI
“It is just beautiful - the Victorian homes turned into hotel. Peaceful. Very friendly, helpful staff. We needed to go for doctor appointments and tests at the hospital, and it was so nice to find such a nice place so close by.” Aug 22, 2006 by
Tom from Greensboro, NC
“Will be back.” Aug 16, 2006 by

“I travel 60% of my work life. This is an 8 on a 10 scale to me.” Aug 15, 2006 by
Peter from St. George, ON CA
“Previously we stayed in a king room and although it was 3rd floor it was an excellent accommodation. This trip, the room was small with no place to set anything down or to sit other than the bed. It was on the 3rd floor also but by stairs and door so we suffered slamming doors and clomping feet as late as 3 am and as early as 7 am. We paid the same for both rooms. I would not book online again for this hotel or accept a room without more information as to the type of room offered.” Aug 9, 2006 by
Mery from Pembroke Pines, FL
“It's a combination of 3 older homes in the midtown area of Detroit. This hotel/house is very quiet, very clean and near the museums and colleges. However, this hotel does not offer anything else but a quiet, clean good night.” Jun 1, 2006 by
Tom from Sturgis, MI
“Neat atmosphere. My son and I sat in the parlor of the Owens mansion (one of the buildings) while he played the baby grand piano that was there. All the amenities were high quality. The bed was comfortable. My room was too small to get a roll away into so my son had to sleep on the floor and it was difficult to comfortably write or use a laptop because there was no desk or writing table in the room. The staff was great, the free breakfast was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to Detroit travelers.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 3, 2006 by

“Great hotel for our money. Truly a nice place with a nice room. Different than your standard hotel room! Great breakfast in the morning.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Sep 14, 2005 by
Nancy from Chicago, IL “What a great find--close to Wayne State and some great museums. A free shuttle to downtown and nearby attractions. Plus every time I've gone there I've stayed in a different room. For $139 I can get a queen suite in a carriage house in a historic building--after traveling extensively, this sure beats the typical same-ole, same-ole' hotel room.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
