“The staff was awesome. The breakfast was okay but wasn't restocked when I arrived with an hour left in the service. The fire alarm went off at 4AM and after trudging down 5 flights of steps and standing on the curb of Michigan avenue for a half hour we were told it was a false alarm but no apology or compensation was offered for the major inconvenience.” Aug 12, 2009 by
Cathleen from Saginaw,MI
“One of our rooms already had others staying in it. Overbooked. Smoking room made me sick. 40 cars broken into in 2 days, luckily not ours. Disappointed in a Holiday Inn. Usually a safe bet.” Jun 1, 2009 by
Doug from Newmarket,Canada

“Good over all. Comfortable and clean. It does need to get wireless internet that was not a good thing. My husband had to plug in and I never was able to get on-line. Feb 2, 2009 by
Christina from London,Canada
“Staff was pleasant and helpful. The parking situation was terrible. We were holding up traffic waiting for a parking attendant. There was only one valet parking attendant for a very busy hotel.” Sep 14, 2008 by
Bob from Rochester, MI
“Hotel was clean and friendly. In good shape.” Sep 1, 2008 by

“Friendly staff, good location. Not as clean as I would have liked.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Jennifer from Byron Center, MI
“We arrived at the hotel at 2:30 pm. Check in was at 3 pm. We had tickets for an outing at 4 pm. After 5 hours in the car a short nap, bathroom and relaxation before hand would have been great! We got into our room at 3:45 pm! I was not happy with the hotel front desk staff. They overbooked their hotel and we all had to suffer for it!” Aug 7, 2008 by
Stacy from Saint Joseph, MI
“We had a beautiful view of the city - however, the windows were so dirty to look out from the inside of the room. Had to wait an hour after check in time because the room wasn't ready yet. Breakfast area was very small, no place to sit & eat and even though we were down there at 8:00am they were already out of a lot of food that wasn't get refilled the whole time we were there. But on the plus side, it was included in the price of the room.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Kenny “Good hotel, friendly staff and would visit again.” Jun 27, 2008 by
Richard from Niagara Falls, NY
“Located in the Heart of Downtown Detroit, the Holiday Inn Express is a short walk (5 blocks) to the riverfront. The free breakfast includes scrambled eggs and bacon too! Valet parking was $18 per day when I stayed here, but city parking is high to begin with and the young valets did no harm to my car. The pool is on the top floor and it's nice and sunny when the clouds are no overhead. There is a business center with free internet, Ask for a room away from the elevators as the middle one squeaks loudly throughout the night,” Mar 19, 2008 by
Dave from Portage, MI
“This hotel was more then expected from a Holiday Inn Express. I was extremely impressed with the overall size of the suite that I stayed and the professionalism of the staff. I will recommend this hotel to others.” Feb 29, 2008 by
Al from Jenison, MI
“I would consider it a decent stay for a "place to crash" in the downtown area. We weren't in Detroit for the room itself, so it served its purpose. Staff was friendly and helpful, but it wasn't the cleanest room I have ever stayed in.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Sharon from Grand Rapids, MI
“This hotel is right downtown and the people mover station is less than a block away, so you can jump on the subway and get around to most spots of interest without having to drive your car and worry about parking. You have to use the valet service at the hotel where they park your vehicle in an underground secured spot for $18 per night, but it was worth it, because we knew the vehicle was safe. The hotel overall was nice and clean; we did not venture into the pool or workout facilities, since we only stayed one night. We had a great clean, warm room with a king sized bed and it was nonsmoking and had no smoky smell to it. Our own problem was we never received our 9 a.m. wake up call; breakfast only goes to 10 a.m. and we got down there around 9:50 a.m. the line was about 15 people long, and no one was moving through very quickly since people were waiting for fresh, hot scrambled eggs to be cooked and waiting on the toaster, so that was a headache, but that's our only complaint. We would stay there again without a problem and just set our own clock/radio/phone alarm instead.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Marcia from White Lake, MI
“This hotel was overall a pleasant experience. The pool was very clean and heated with a great view of the city. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, pleasantly decorated. We did not have a chance to dine at the restaurant, but it did look like a good place to eat. The staff could have been friendlier as they were a bit cold toward us. Overall, we had a good experience and will be back one day with our children. It is also located conveniently Downtown Detroit.” Feb 7, 2008 by
William from Zeeland, MI
“The hotel was easy to find, clean, good service, room was fine, good location to our event we were there for. My wife and I both did not like the parking arrangements, Vallet only! I should be able to decide how I park my car Valet or park it my self. There was no notification when ordering the room of a $18 charge for Valet Parking Only, I don't like surprises like that, other than that real happy with our stay.” Feb 5, 2008 by
Kevin from Murfreesboro, TN
“Good hotel in good neighborhood with good bar / restaurant attached.” Feb 4, 2008 by
Sven from Jackson, MI
“The room was fine. I thought the sheets were nice, but there were white stains on the duvet cover. The front desk staff I spoke to over the phone was rude. The breakfast wasn't very good. Don't eat the scrambled eggs.” Jan 25, 2008 by
William from Cleveland, OH
“This is a good hotel to stay at, but the front desk service and valet was horrible. I requested an upgrade and was denied and my friends showed up after me, and was given an upgrade. I'm still trying to understand that one.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Shawn from Warren, MI
“This hotel was very under-staffed. There was a multitude of things going on in Detroit when we stayed there and the hotel was simply unprepared. You had to stand in line at the breakfast buffet for over 25 minutes for disgusting eggs and bacon. Valet totally backed up, called housekeeping to request towels in the pool area and never received them, vending machines not stocked, etc. Hotel was clean and comfortable but clearly, they are not focused on customer service.” Dec 25, 2007 by

“Clean rooms, nice bed, nice shower and in a convenient location.” Dec 21, 2007 by

“Staff very nice, an attractive building and clean, comfortable rooms.” Aug 26, 2007 by
Jenny from Manistique, MI
“Their pool is not the greatest. Its maximum depth is 3.5 feet. But, it's on the top floor, so there's not much they can do about it.” Aug 22, 2007 by
Kyle from Albuquerque, NM
“Poorly managed, chaos at both check-in and check-out. Employees cannot handle high volume of customers. Suite rooms very comfortable and nice.” Jul 28, 2007 by
Michelle
“The hotel staff were incredibly hospital. Overall a great service.” Jul 10, 2007 by
Muriel from Huber, OH
“My stay with the Holiday Inn express downtown Detroit was very nice. The staff was nice and the valet parkers were very helpful giving directions. I was going to figure out on my own how to get to the highway but the valet parker asked if I needed directions.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 4, 2007 by

“While the hotel is in decent location and newly remodeled, the rooms need to be sound proof.” May 3, 2007 by
Peter from Suttons Bay, MI
“Standard holiday inn express in downtown Detroit. It appears to be one of the very few buildings in the area still occupied and so has an air of Beirut circa 1983.while the area looks dilapidated and run down the people are generally friendly and welcoming with a stoic pride in their once thriving city.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 26, 2007 by

“This hotel is very conveniently located close to everything in downtown area. If I needed a ride to the restaurant or business, they had shuttle services. Only con on this service, I could not talk to the driver directly where we meet so we were looking for each other for a long time and that happened a few times. Front desk didn't tell the driver exactly what I said. Otherwise, staffs are friendly and cooperative with me on the price, when I had to stay one more night.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 8, 2007 by

“We enjoyed everything about the hotel, except the room. The beds were stiff and the comforters had burn marks. No coffee cups in the room and ketchup on the walls. The staff was great and the bar restaurant was very nice. The cleanliness of the rest of the hotel was fine.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 16, 2006 by

“Great location - we were close to ford field, Greek town, hard rock cafe. We could walk anywhere if we needed to.” Sep 23, 2006 by
Tiffanycorinne M. from London, NY
“I was at the hotel for 4 nights and the cleaners each time just merely did a cursory clean of my room. The sheets I believe were not changed in 4 nights, there was not a card available to inform the cleaner that you required the room to be cleaned, the floor I was on had a permanent air of urine as you entered/exited the elevator and the area around the hotel was not the most pleasant with boarded up buildings everywhere - typical of the degeneration of Detroit at the moment. The only two 'good' things about this hotel was the continental breakfasts and the professionalism of the person at the front desk named Sharon.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 29, 2006 by

“This hotel was clean and comfortable and a good value for dollar . The continental breakfast in the morning was a very nice benefit of the stay. The coffee, cereal and other items were very good. The people mover station nearby made the hotel a good location to stay at. If not for the people mover this hotel would be out of the way from the downtown activities. I would stay again.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 12, 2006 by

“The hotel staff was very friendly. Pet friendly. breakfast bar in the morning. restaurant hooked to the hotel so you don't have to go outside. late check-out for priority club, plus paper. Easy right off the highway. And easy back on highway.” Jun 17, 2006 by
Ballfan from Grand Rapids, MI
“Clean hotel, in super location for Comerica Park. Would be a great spot for adults and a good value for the money for business travelers. Walking home from the Tigers game at night was pretty scary for kids, tough neighborhood.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 28, 2006 by

“Good. We stayed for the location mainly to partake in a couple of events in downtown Detroit.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 23, 2006 by

“When we arrived in this hotel, our first impression is the hotel is pretty quite. That is just what we looking for. My wife and I hoping to be able staying in a place that is not crowded or full with party people. Resting is what we need, and this hotel is suitable to fulfill that. We stayed in one of their room with king size bed and other facilities included. The room is very nice, the bathroom is very clean with all the products that we need, and of course, if you want you can get some other things like razor or comb from them for free by calling the front desk. Overall, this hotel is very nice and perfect for people that traveled with their family or spouse. We also get complimentary breakfast consisting choice from cereal to fruit and also some coffee in the first floor. The staff is very friendly and ready to help out to find directions or nearest restaurant. There is some fee for the valet parking, but considering it is rather difficult for us to find parking place that is safe, we decided to use the service, the valet staff is very nice and helpful. We recommend this hotel to business traveler or people with family along or even just for couples. It's simple, easy and less worry.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 23, 2006 by

“Holiday Inn Express, downtown Detroit, is a great place for reasonable accommodations right in the heart of the city. It is staff are friendly, professional and accommodating. The rooms, lobby and other facilities are spotless. I do not think you can find a better hotel for the price and location within the downtown corridor of Detroit.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 22, 2006 by
