“This hotel is ill equipped for today's traveler. They cannot run air conditioning at the same time of year they have heat, so room temperatures were around 80 degrees; Rooms 28-32 on each level smell like fried food from the kitchen's hood system; the hotel moved me to another room, but I'm sure others experienced the same problem. I will not stay at this property again unless major renovations are done.”

“This is a great old style hotel with tremendous charm. Have stayed here several times. Staff has always been attentive and excellent. Very convenient to most of Boston on Copley Square. Westin and Marriott are both close but do not have the charm of the Fairmont.”

“When we checked in, they told us they were sold out and only a smoking room was available. We are non-smokers and were told we could cancel our reservation (at 8pm), try to find another hotel, or deal with the smoke smell in the room.”

“This was a first class hotel. The lobby is exquisite and the room we stayed in was grand. The marble bath was lovely and the views from the windows were fantastic.”

  • Unbelievable staff, absolutely stunning hotel, amazing price.
  • Room was on the smaller side.

“The Fairmount was not only mind-gaspingly gorgeous (I heard it was recently renovated), but the staff was by far the best staff of any hotel I've ever stayed at. I'm a writer, and while I'm a successful one I'm not exactly "rolling in it". I didn't expect the concierge and front desk individuals to be as wonderfully gracious as they were. They even delivered a FedEx package to my room as soon as it arrived. I think I rang the concierge six or seven times, and he was just lovely and quite insightful. I wouldn't ever want to stay anywhere else in Boston.”

  • Location is fantastic.
  • Business center is insultingly expensive.

“Rooms are very small, but clean and well furnished. Be sure to get a room with an exterior view, as the internal rooms lack much charm. All in all, the hotel will meet or exceed your expectations but beware of the Business Center. Prices for computer usage run $1.05/minute and if you choose to use the internet tack on an extra $1.05/minute (something that isn't spelled out very clearly in the pricing guide). A 10-minute session on the internet will cost you $21.00.”

“I called the hotel immediately to request 2 beds. They said they would put my request in. I arrived at the hotel and the receptionist stated that 2 beds were not available and that I needed to call before I booked the room, which was impossible. She then said she'd put a cot in my room for my guest. When my guest and I returned from dinner, the cot had arrived and was not set up. In fact, there was a note on the bottom of the cot that said "broken frame," next to a large crack in the frame. I work in customer service and I understand that although customers can't always be accommodated, you should at least do the best you can to make them feel like they are important. I am very disappointed with this hotel and will not return, nor recommend it to anyone.”

  • The location was perfect and the quality surpassed my expectations.
  • The staff was a bit incompetent. They overcharged me for valet parking and took a while to retrieve my car.

“Aesthetically and comfort wise, the Fairmont Copley lives up to its 4 star rating. The location is perfect for visitors to Boston (right in Copley square) very accessible to shopping, bars/restaurants, entertainment, and transportation. I found the staff to fall a bit short in terms of service, though. I was charged and additional night of valet parking and was given the runaround the day I needed my car. All in all, its a beautiful establishment, the rooms are large and comfortable, and if given the opportunity, Id gladly overlook a few bad apples on the hotel staff and come back in a heartbeat.”

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[9]

  • I liked the fact that Fairmont Copley plaza is conveniently located in the back bay area.

“My first impression is that the hotel has some lower standard rooms for discount hotel travelers. It is comfortably spacious in the guest rooms; if you are traveling with more than two persons, double bed rooms are still good enough. But watch out, because there is no guarantee if you are going to get a king sized one. The only thing that seems to miss from the guest room is the coffee maker, and there is a charge of $10 per day if you request one. The hotel is a 6 story building; depending on where your room is, you could end up taking a long walk from the elevator to your room almost like a maze. But other than these, it is located one huge block away from the green line and, on the other side of the hotel, one huge block away from the orange lines am not so sure if I would give my stay a 4 star rating, but the hotel does look pretty decent.”

“Claiming as a 4 star hotel, the room is not as well equipped as expected. Complimentary coffee pot and wireless internet can be found in lower ranking hotels, so it was disappointing not to have them in the Fairmont. The cleaning service person knocked on our door before 8:00am, obviously way too early in my book! There was no complimentary shuttle to/from the airport that is only less than 30 minutes away; however, they offer a shuttle company. The best thing about the FCP is its location, a block away from the subway station!”
