Serena from Fraser,CO “The hotel is under reconstruction. There is nothing charming in any public space. normal public space is closed off. When reconstruction is complete it will no doubt be better.” Nov 8, 2008 by
“Hotel St. Francis is in a great location for visiting Santa Fe, NM. It is in walking distance of the Plaza, shops and eateries. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, although the room was small it was very comfortable and met my needs. The location is great.” Oct 9, 2008 by
Deanna
“Overall a comfortable stay at a reasonable price, but the room was extremely small. It was also difficult to find the hotel parking. The location couldn't be better. Close to shops and restaurants in the heart of Santa Fe.” Sep 27, 2008 by
Emily
“The people were very friendly and responded promptly. The bed very comfortable, and the overall appearance very high end.” Sep 14, 2008 by
Jo from Signal Mountain, TN
“The location of this historic, charming hotel was excellent and met our expectations.” Sep 7, 2008 by
Barbara from Boise, ID
“This is a historic old hotel which they have tried to update to a continental look. It isn't the adobe look you'd expect in Santa Fe, and it was a bit seedy, not very clean, and slightly run-down. The room we had was very small and crowded, but the location made up for it. Our plumbing didn't work very well, but it was adequate. We ate breakfast there one morning; the food was very good and the waitress was excellent. She made a real effort to help us to eat and leave on time to catch a plane. Recommend for location!” Sep 3, 2008 by
Jackie from Scottsdale, AZ
“Room size was that of a closet with 1 double bed. Discovered that shower and TV did not work. Shower was fixed. TV never was. Front desk staff was rude and unfriendly. Location was great but would never stay here again!” Aug 4, 2008 by
Ken from Humble, TX
“One expects small rooms in an historic hotel, but these were very uncomfortable for the price. It was renovated in the 80's and it looks a little sad and worn now. The fake flowers are dusty and horrible. The renovation was supposed to be period specific, but it is really tacky 80's country that looks very dated. The rooms are cluttered and apparently difficult to clean.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Anuk W. from Savannah, GA
“A grand old hotel with excellent location. Our room was small and lacked shelf space.” Jul 14, 2008 by
David from Amarillo, TX
“Full size bed was extremely small and no free breakfast with stay. Limited parking unless you park across the street at the municipal parking and then you still have to pay half the cost of the regular rates which they did not inform us about when we checked in. Romantic setting but not comfortable at all.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Charlene from Point Venture, TX
“This facility is lovely and oozes charm and history.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Julia from Farmington, NM
“I really want to love this hotel but there are just too many issues that they refuse to fix that made our stay miserable. The last time I stayed here it was very cold outside and there was no hot water in our room. When I complained the front desk just shrugged and said "it's an old hotel and it has issues". When we told the front desk they said they would tell maintenance and thats it! No apology and they just shrugged when I said I wasn't happy about not being able to shower.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Karin from Winslow, AZ
“I recommend this hotel to anyone that likes to be surrounded by history of the hotel and the Plaza area of Santa Fe.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Sarah from Coto De Caza, CA
“Everyone at the hotel was very nice and service oriented. The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to everything. The room was very small, but the level of service and proximity to everything made up for the size of the room.” May 27, 2008 by
Jim from Santa Rosa, CA
“The hotel was changing ownership during our stay. It would be unfair to the new owners to be too critical at this time. Otherwise, other than location and its historic presence I would not say great things about the hotel.” May 8, 2008 by
Carrie from Carrollton, TX
“It was very nice, but they did not have our reservation in the system when we checked in.” Apr 26, 2008 by
Jessica from Madison, WI
“The hotel is in a great location, near The Plaza. The housekeeping staff were good and thorough while the front desk staff were young and only seemed to care about chatting with each other. Details on parking, at the hotel and the overflow public parking lot across the street, were muddled through as if the average person would understand what they were talking about, but it certainly wasn't clear and I had to get a more detailed description. Didn't eat at the hotel but the prices in the room service book seemed reasonable for Santa Fe. The concierge was helpful in determining what time I should leave for the airport to go back home. I recommend stopping at a store before getting to your hotel room to pick up drinks to put in your room's mini fridge because the climate is quite dry and you need to concentrate on hydrating.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Debra B. from Gardena, CA
“The St. Francis is very convenient and in walking distance to the old town plaza and main attractions in Santa Fe. The rooms are a bit on the small side, and we had problems with a noisy air vent, but the decor is attractive, the service was good and the afternoon tea is worth a try.” Apr 14, 2008 by
Molly from Friday Harbor, WA
“The double bed was comfortable and I believe it was a down comforter, which was nice. Parking was available, but the lot was always full so we had to park across the street in municipal parking. So we always had to stop at the desk and ask for parking validation, each time we wanted to leave by car. I was aware the rooms were small and had contacted the hotel a few weeks before our arrival and asked if we could have a bigger room. I don't think I'll ever stay there again.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Jason from Red Bank, NJ
“Wonderful location, and on the national list of historic places. This hotel was built in 1923 with a very non-southwest decor and feel, as a counter to the surrounding area. The rooms can be somewhat smallish, and oddly shaped, but that adds to the charm. A small bar is off the lobby and it gets some decent traffic at night. High quality tea is served in the afternoon with finger sandwiches and all that. Nice place, would go back again.” Apr 7, 2008 by
Ronda from Lake Mary, FL
“We loved the hotel and the convenience to everything. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. We would highly recommend.” Mar 30, 2008 by
Catherine from Twain Harte, CA
“We loved our stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The lobby is welcoming with many sitting areas, fireplace and afternoon tea. A beautiful patio runs along the front of the hotel with sitting areas as well. Parking is only $5 per day which is much less than other hotels and free morning papers. This hotel reminds me of many European hotels.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Candace from Aloha, OR
“Quaint and charming, in the heart of Downtown Santa Fe, the Hotel St. Francis retains its turn of the century feel. A pleasurable stay.” Mar 24, 2008 by
Al from Gladstone, MO
“The St. Francis was a pleasurable experience. You will need to book the room way ahead of time. The front desk staff was a great representation of hospitality. I will return to this hotel next time I return to Santa Fe.” Mar 23, 2008 by
Karri from Georgetown, TX
“We were happy with the hotel. We had 4 people (2 adults and 2 children) in our room and they charged us and additional $20, so we could have 2 beds - 2 double beds - in our room.” Mar 12, 2008 by
Dennis from Arvada, CO
“The Hotel had lots of charm as an old hotel. No upgrades done and room was small and crowded. One uncomfortable chair. Upgrade to a Queen size bed room from a full size bed was $25/night. Shower water temperature at night was Luke warm and had to run for 5-10 minutes to get hot. Room temp control was difficult.” Mar 5, 2008 by
Martha from Woodside, CA
“This hotel is not your typical corporate hotel. Each room has a unique theme, golf, old dolls, mardi grass, etc. and the decor is almost Victorian in nature. It is the most quiet older hotel in which I have stayed especially for being right in the middle of downtown. A great value.” Mar 5, 2008 by
Jonathon from Santa Rosa, CA
“This is a wonderful looking old hotel in the heart of historic Santa Fe. Staff was pleasant but not overly friendly. Parking could be a pain if you did not get in the hotel lot you were forced to go across the street and then wait at front desk for validation. My only problems with this hotel were the tiny room (too small to eat in, no table) and the shower temperature fluctuations with every toilet flush or tap turning in the hotel. Breakfast was great.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Wayne from Steamboat Springs, CO
“All in all it was a great place. The staff were helpful and positive. I would stay there again.” Feb 12, 2008 by
Samantha from Sheffield Lake, OH
“This was a great hotel for the end of our trip out west. The hotel felt very rugged yet art deco. It was historic with all the original details. Very charming and I felt at home since I live in a very historic home myself.” Feb 4, 2008 by
Jeff from Las Cruces, NM
“The St. Francis is a great hotel in the heart of Santa Fe. Convenient for business and shopping.” Feb 1, 2008 by
Chris from Poulsbo, WA
“Needs larger rooms for 2 people and at least a queen size bed. Bed was comfortable, clean room and nice old time charm, staff very helpful. Food ordered in pub did not coincide with what was on menu. Husband ordered menu item and received only one out of three described on menu. When asked about it, they tried to fix it, but still didn't get it right. We were told that staff was trying to "get away with it". Very disappointing, especially for the price.” Feb 1, 2008 by
Dave from Tempe, AZ
“At the right price, the St. Francis is perfectly located to enjoy the heart of Santa Fe. Lovely public spaces, attentive staff. Be prepared for a small room if you take the Standard room. Still very comfortable, but not a place to spend a lot of time.” Feb 1, 2008 by
Francisca from Albuquerque, NM
“First night the room was the smallest one I had ever stayed in. Second night upgraded to king deluxe, 100% improvement. Cost 20.00 extra. Might stay here again, excellent location, but would definitely upgrade.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Gwenn from Seattle, WA
“While we did get a good price, it was not the 3 star hotel I was expecting. The room contained a very small, very uncomfortable double bed, not king or even queen as is standard in most places. The "free wireless" barely worked and the electrical outlets were few, difficult to find and so old and loose that my cell phone and computer chargers constantly fell out of the sockets. This is very cheap to upgrade for a hotel of this size and really there is no excuse to leave these rooms as is in 2008 when trying to sell the hotel as a reasonable option for business travelers. Lastly, the low flow showerheads are '80's vintage and should be updated to modern versions. This is such an inexpensive fix (which would save them water) that it's hard to believe this hotel has not yet made this upgrade.” Jan 28, 2008 by
Eun from San Jose, CA
“Located at the center of the Santa Fe in the walking distance from the market places and galleries. Romantic family style hotel.” Jan 25, 2008 by
John from Tucson, AZ
“Great location; great price; great energy in the lobby.” Jan 22, 2008 by
Christy from Animas, NM
“Beautiful! I loved the hotel!” Jan 21, 2008 by
Mark from Midland, TX
“Lovely historic hotel with an outstanding lobby, bar and staff. Built before the days of political correctness and ADA (Americans with Disabilities) Nazism, this is a wonderful Inn for the body able. The rooms are far too small for Extended Stays but for overnight accommodations and short stays to enjoy Downtown Santa Fe walking tours, Hotel St. Francis is a kernel on which to build wonderful memories.” Jan 20, 2008 by
Celia from Amarillo, TX
“St. Francis is a very European-type hotel, with log-burning fireplace in lobby, and English afternoon Tea served each afternoon by fireplace. It is a very comfortable and elegant hotel!” Jan 20, 2008 by
Timothy from North Hollywood, CA
“The St. Francis was everything we expected and more! The hotel captured the charm of Santa Fe. Centrally located we were able to experience the down town life of Santa Fe by foot. Be sure to stay multiple nights and ask to stay in a different room each night. Why you ask? Well each room is designed with a different theme. Have fun and enjoy Santa Fe!” Jan 14, 2008 by
Katharine F. from Pittsburgh, PA
“Charming, inviting and situated in the heart of Old Town Santa Fe, Hotel St. Francis offers a perfect launch for a full day of shopping and exploring and a gracious retreat at day's end. We will be back!” Jan 14, 2008 by
Jennifer from Scottsdale, AZ
“The desk clerks were wonderful! Very helpful and reassuring!” Jan 7, 2008 by
Tc from Albuquerque, NM
“Great ambiance, charming unique touch's and perfect location. The best staff anywhere. The beds incredibly comfortable and appointed in an historical boutique hotel sense. Given it's history rooms are natural smaller or more European. Some who prefer a more stiff cookie cutter luxury experience with stiff reserved staff/service could be a bit disappointed as the hotel and staff express their personality and individuality. All in a all a very charming and cool home away from home, one of my favorites anywhere in the world.” Dec 22, 2007 by
Richard from Green Valley, AZ
“Everything was good except room size and the location of TV in room.” Dec 21, 2007 by
Jim from Pagosa Springs, CO
“A nice property in a great location. The lounge was uninviting and same for the staff and the food low quality. My superior king was very small and very noisy on street level. I guess for an $80 per night hotel on the plaza it is ok.” Dec 19, 2007 by
John from Las Vegas, NM
“The entire hotel staff was friendly and professional without being over familiar, nor obsequious or stuffy. Our room service dinner was quick and hot. Room service menu prices were the same as the restaurant menu with a 20% gratuity added very fair. The wait staff was uniformly professional, courteous and efficient they allowed my partner and me to focus on our conversation and meal rather than spend our time reassuring the server that everything is "okay" or that the food "tastes good". I had almost forgotten how pleasant it is receive professional service. Other restaurants in Santa fe, and most everywhere in the US, would do well to emulate their standards.” Dec 17, 2007 by
Amy from Ponce De Leon, MO
“The hotel was in a great location on the Santa-Fe-Plaza. It is more of a boutique hotel and did not have the accommodations I would expect of a 3 star hotel.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Chris from Farmington, NM
“I booked an additional night days after my initial reservation because of this, the hotel told us that we would have to move to an even *smaller* room for the second night of our stay or pay an upgrade fee. I chose to pay the $20 to avoid the hassle of changing rooms.” Dec 5, 2007 by
Wayne from Albuquerque, NM
“This was a great hotel. The location is perfect. The old Santa Fe Decor and gracious staff were appreciated. The room was small, so I don't think this would be a good choice for an extended stay, but for two nights it was just fine.”
