  • Close to public transportation
  • 2nd bed was a very uncomfortable fold out sofa

“As with many hotels, the temperature in the room was hard to control. The bed was very comfortable, but the pull out sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable. The building could use some attention, but it was not unclean. It is great that they provide free parking, but the number of spaces is very limited and proved to be a challenge for us one night”

“Easy to find, great rooms - but if you want a view of the city you need to go a little closer to the city. Location is within walking distance of public transportation (bus & train). Good breakfast! Only negative would be the need for more parking.”

  • The hotel had a computer with internet for guest use and a great breakfast area.
  • None of the snack or soda machines were working I had to go to the store for a drink.

“The hotel itself was perfect for what I needed. I just wanted a place to sleep and use the internet. The shower was missing the tub stopper, and looked like it needed a little maintenance, I didn't shower while I was there. The snack/soda machines didn't work and I had to go to the store for a drink. Overall though, the room was nice and up to date, and cleaned very well. The computer with internet access available in the lobby was a great plus, it really eased some issues I had with the trip. The breakfast area was extremely nice and comfy, and the food itself wasn't too bad, the eggs were powdered but I just stuck with the other items and I was fine. It was a buffet with a large variety so I didn't go hungry in the least. The staff was extremely friendly with the exception of the gentleman on the desk on Saturday. I've worked in hotels for years and overall it was an exceptional experience and if I ever go back to Boston I would gladly stay there again.”

  • Parking the first night was across the street in unattended lot of liquor store parking lot.

  • They had bottle water and snacks and cookies out for us next to the front desk for our to take!
  • The parking was terrible! We had to park across the street!

  • I liked the fact that wireless internet was available and at no charge.

“This hotel is a good value. I would recommend staying here only if you have use of a car - it is a little off the beaten track for buses and trains. But a 5 min drive to Downtown Boston or most of the Universities and colleges.”

“I found the service very friendly and enjoyed the free breakfast. The room was clean and well-appointed. The location of the hotel was very convenient for visitors to either Cambridge or downtown Boston. The only downside is that you have to occasionally park across the street. Overall a great value for the Boston area.”

“The Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Cambridge was a very nice hotel. It is a great place for families who are on vacation to stay. The rooms were very clean, and had everything that you could need. I especially appreciated the little kitchenette area. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others who are visiting the Boston area.”

  • The hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly.
  • The hotel was located near some abandoned buildings. I was a bit nervous when we arrived at night.

“Overall, this is a really good, economical hotel in an expensive area. The hotel staff was great. The location, on the edge of Cambridge, was not horrible, but not a place I'd wonder around in at night. It's a very short walk to the T, which made getting around very easy.”

  • The manager was extremely friendly and made us feel at home.
  • The hotel needs better upkeep. For example, the towel rack was coming out. The bath room door knob was loose - small things, but need attention.

“The hotel was clean, the rooms were large and nice and everything met our expectations. The location was just two blocks from a T stop, which was great! Also I had left my lights on in my car and the staff was so helpful. One of the managers even tried to jump my battery. We ended up calling triple A and the staff was checking on us to make sure everything was going ok!”

“The hotel was adequate, but parking was not. We had to park in the lot of a liquor store across a very busy street. The we had to move the car by 8 AM the next morning!   • Dirty room, nasty remote, 8 min. elevator wait, keys not work, location, short staffed, un-professional staff.

“This hotel is nowhere near Downtown Boston, like other Cambridge Hotels are. We politely requested a High Floor as far from the elevator as possible. The attendant gave us a room on the 3rd Floor (out of at least 8), directly across from the elevator. She said that's all they had, which was not true. We arrived at room, 4:30 pm, to find the door open, and being cleaned. After the maid left, we discovered there was no shower curtain. Also, there was some type of snot (hopefully) caked on the remote control. There are no accessible stairs, and I have a video of my wife and I waiting 8 minutes for an elevator. Upon express checkout over the phone, the phone rang and rang until the front desk picked up the phone and hung it up. Very unprofessional across the board. Since this hotel really doesn't have much going for it, you would think they would at least focus on customer service. I left this hotel feeling aggravated that I actually gave them a dime, and I apologized to my wife for putting us up at such a dump. For what you save on free parking and breakfast (which was 75% gone 9 am), you make up for in cabs, T fares, and nonstop frustration. It will be the best thing you could for your trip to Boston. This trip taught me that never stay at a Holiday Inn Express in Cambridge, MA.”

  • Bed was horrible, it sank in the middle. The bathroom fixtures needed upgrading, I had to get the tank to stop filling once and the faucet dripped.

“Room was clean and relatively quiet. Parking is available but if you are late you have to park in their overflow lot across a very busy street. This was no fun when it was snowing, but it was a parking space near the liquor store so I can't complain. There are two computers available for guests. Grocery store nearby and decent size mini fridge made it economical.”

“A short walk from the bus stop to Harvard Square, large shopping centre nearby and smaller plaza Marshall's next door. Coffee shops and restaurants along Cambridge Ave nearby so although the hotel is on an unprepossessing commercial strip it was actually a very convenient location. Staff were friendly and polite. Place was clean and bright. Complementary fruit bowl in lobby very much appreciated.”

  • It was conveniently located near the subway line.
  • It was not near any attractions, and not very close to any restaurants or bars.

“The hotel was clean and had continental breakfast every morning which was great. The price was decent, only slightly overpriced. I have definitely stayed in much nicer hotels for the same price. Overall good experience, except the front desk who ordered us a private driver without telling us, which ended up costing us way more than it should have.”

  • Great location about 2 blocks from Lechmere T stop.
  • The bathroom needed lots of work and I had no hot water.

“Great location with a friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom however was another story. It was clean, but was in need of repairs. The sink counter had a crack and a huge piece missing. The hot water did not work at all. The continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise. I would stay here again.”

“It is a very clean hotel except for the elevators. There is little parking onsite and the overflow lot doesn't look like someplace where you would want to leave your car. The front desk staff was hard to understand a little unaccommodating when trying to get change to tip the breakfast bar staff. The breakfast bar which was included was fully stocked with lots of choices and had a very friendly staff. The location of the hotel to the sites of Boston and Cambridge for the price makes it an excellent find.”

  • Room is too small for two persons, heater is very noisy.

“Compare with other same star or higher hotels with same price, this hotel is much better in terms of facility availabilities (i.e. parking, breakfast, wireless). You won't get them without paying anything. Just one thing weird though. We left for Boston downtown right after we checked in and left baggage in the room. When we were back after dinner, room key didn't work. Then, we got a new key and found that a snack bag in the trash can, which was not put by us! Obviously there was someone entering into our room; someone who was assigned a wrong room by the hotel! So scary!”

  • There really was nothing impressive about this hotel.
  • I did not like the bed bugs on my sheets or the customer service.

“This was a very unimpressive hotel. I was forced to park my car across a highway in an abandoned parking lot for both nights. The desk clerk was having a private phone call in the middle of my checking in for nearly 2 minutes (in which she looked at my credit card and ID while talking on the phone the entire time). There were 2 little bed bugs under my sheet upon arriving at the hotel. I would not go back to this hotel.”

  • The continental breakfast was great! Many options!
  • Difficult to get cabs from there, they should have a shuttle.

“My stay at the holiday inn was great. The rooms are big and clean mine even came with a mini kitchen! The continental breakfast was way better then most, several options to help you start your day. The location isn't great, a bit out of the way. It took us a long time to catch a cab (even when we called down to the desk to have them call). They should consider having a shuttle to Boston & Harvard Square.”

  • Two comfortable king beds, fridge, and microwave.
  • A little bit noisy because the hotel is on a busy street. $150/night is a bit too high for a 2.5/3 star hotel.

“Overall we loved the stay in this hotel. We really appreciated the king beds, fridge and the microwave. They are very considerate for family travelers. We also enjoyed the breakfast there. By the way, I liked the fact it has public internet access even though I didn't have to use it.”

“This was not a luxury hotel however the staff was very helpful and the room clean. The bed was comfortable, the sheets and towels nice. If you're looking for reasonable prices, and a basic clean, comfortable room, this hotel is for you.”
