“Over-all good stay, clean hotel, excellent location, nice room and nice pool and hot-tub.” Mar 3, 2007 by

“We arrived at the American relatively late- 10pm. Check-in took less than 30 seconds. As we walked down the hall, we noticed it was clouded with cigarette smoke, even though the doors were all marked "no smoking". We wound up at the last room. Apparently the only smoking room on the floor, even though everyone else seemed to be. I have never been given a smoking room before, but I chalked it up to the late check-in. Still, a "sorry, all we have is smoking" would have been nice. The room had a heavy soap smell- like your grandma's bathroom. I had heard this was a chemical used to cover up smoke smells. I didn't really notice any smoke, but when we got to our next destination, we realized our pajamas reeked of smoke. Other that that, the hotel seemed nice. They had a good free breakfast each morning. It was somewhere higher than continental, but lower than the full breakfast you get at an inn suites or similar mid-level hotel. They even had tasty biscuits & gravy! Rooms were clean and comfortable enough for a few nights, but I wouldn't want to spend a week there. The TV actually had a full 75 channel cable setup. I haven't seen that much outside of la area hotels. They had a strange pay-per-view setup that we didn't use. There was a credit-card swipe attached to the phone for payment! One other odd thing. There was a sign on the refreshingly-large refrigerator that said that each room included two free bottled waters. We never got any waters until we stole a couple off the maid's cart one morning. The location was convenient, though the entrance was hard to find the first time. There are lots of restaurants nearby, but avoid the Perkins in the parking lot. We waited at a table for 10 minutes and a server never appeared. There's a target up the street if you forgot anything¿s wouldn't seek this hotel out, but it's a decent budget option.” Feb 22, 2007 by

“The complimentary breakfast buffet was okay but not great. In general it was a good place to stop while traveling.” Feb 14, 2007 by

“Great hotel. Easy location from interstate but a little far from the beach, but still alright. Great amenities. Friendly service staff.” Feb 6, 2007 by

“Location was inconvenient for us however there are plenty of amenities nearby for those with Fruitvale road destinations. We spent the majority of our time downtown and near St. Armand's circle. The staff was very friendly and helpful - initially we did not have hot water and within 30 minutes, a boiler was adjusted and our water was great. Also, we requested a crib and it was brought to our room very promptly - they set it up and there was no additional charge for this which was nice. The continental breakfast was convenient for us and our small children. Cereal, milk, pastries, fruit, waffles, etc. Internet access in the main lobby was convenient as well when we were searching for directions to the airport.” Jan 8, 2007 by

“First time we stayed at an American property, we would stay at this property again.” Mar 18, 2006 by
Marie from Sykesville, MD
“Quiet, clean place, right off I-75. 2 queen beds in a room a plus. 3 choices of eateries within a block. Was a bit pricy, no toiletries, a 15-20 minute drive to beaches.” Nov 30, 2004 by
Stephen L. from Sunrise “This was rated a 2 star! It should have been a 3 star. Very good breakfast, new, clean rooms, right off the highway.” Hotel Representatives:
