• Nice big walk in shower and a lot of tile and marble in the room.
• $36.50 per 24 hours of parking!

“The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. We very much enjoyed our stay there and would definitely stay there again. There was nice furniture in the room; however, a dresser would have been even better. Just be aware that everything is considered an upgrade for an additional $30.00 per night for each upgrade. For example, going from a king size bed to two double beds and getting a room with a view of the city would have been an additional $60.00 per night.”

• The breakfast was exceptional. We dined outside and found it to be very pleasant even though it was near the sidewalk.
• The carpet in the room was dirty in some areas.

“Although it appears to geared toward the business traveler (I was asked for a business card at check-in), we found the hotel to our liking for a short leisure visit. There is no pool for those who consider one a necessity. The location is excellent for walking to the White House and the National Mall and some very good nearby restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the concierge made good recommendations for restaurants within walking distance. Drinks were a bit pricey in the bar. My wife did say that her $14 blackberry margarita, made fresh, was excellent. Breakfast outside was a real treat - both the food and the setting.”

“The furnishings and classy layout of the hotel are fantastic along with the extremely comfortable beds. However, room service did wake us up very early on the day of our departure to clean the room. The breakfast at the hotel was quite overpriced, even for hotel dining. They seemed ill equipped to handle cash transactions. The staff was very helpful.”

• It was nice and fully met our expectations of a 4-star hotel.
• The park next door was full of homeless people begging for money. Felt a bit unsafe when walking in the evenings.

• The staff was disorganized.

“The staff made a huge mistake at the time of our check in and, promised to correct with a room upgrade and complimentarily valet parking for our stay. At the time of checkout, the staff and manager refused to honor their promise regarding valet parking and it took multiple attempts and much unnecessary efforts to get them to mostly live up to their promise. It really soured an otherwise excellent stay.”

• No closet space, small rooms for a so called 4 star.

“Definitely not a 4 star. The room didn't even get cleaned one day by 3pm.the furniture seemed old in the room and the carpet was old.”

“We loved the location to the National Mall in DC. Loved the restaurant down the street, Old Eller (?)Grill is what it was called. Excellent for brunch or lunch and dinner.”

• Excellent bathrooms and turndown service with free Evian bottles was nice.
• No view out of most windows.

“Excellent hotel with great doormen and front desk staff. Concierge was not the nicest or most knowledgeable as would be expected from a 4 star hotel. Bathrooms are extremely spacious. Excellent turndown service. There were no bags in our room for the ice bucket and the rooms are a bit dimly lit. Tube TV's are from a 2 star hotel rather than flat screen or plasmas as expected from a 4 star hotel.”

• Location, location, location. Excellent, close to every single attraction in DC.
• The only parking is valet and it is very expensive!

“Make sure to ask about alternative parking because the only available parking on the hotel is valet and it is 37 dollars a day, Other than that the location of this hotel is the best! two blocks away from the white house and a very safe area to walk around even at night.”

• Busy street, valet parking only.

“Very friendly staff and helpful too. Restaurant and lounge separate. Beds have soft down bed toppers and down comforters in a Duvee. Generous pillows in size and quantity. Huge bathroom with separate shower and tub and large vanity sink. Nice work desk with outlets for recharging all your devices. No free internet but it is available for $10/day and they have a t mobile hot spot if you have an account with them. Just blocks from the white house. Alarm clock with radio and dongle to attach an mp3 player or any audio device with a headset jack output. Lots of art work everywhere. Very clean rooms and lobby. Bath robe and slippers. Huge closets that are in a separate room off the bathroom and not visible from seating area. Couch and chair with coffee table. Small twilight reading lamps on each side of bed that came are aimed for reading without interrupting others in the room with bright lamps or room lights.”

• Housekeeping was a little light. Would have appreciated more linen without having to make requests.

“Luxurious, location, luscious! The lobby bar and little cafe were nothing short of lovely. The room was very nice, fabulous beds and bedding, great bathroom. Altogether great. But given a gloomy couple of November days in DC, it didn't matter. Be sure to keep the drapery closed or the building 20 feet away will know all your business!”

• The room was amazing, and the bed was better than at any other hotel I have ever stayed.
• I can't really think of anything. Our view wasn't that great, because it was an interior room.

“My husband and I had a great stay at this hotel we didn't want to leave! The bathroom was very spacious, the bed was the most comfortable Ive ever slept in, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The concierge gave several good suggestions of local restaurants. They also have a great 24/7 workout facility with very nice equipment. I highly recommend this hotel!”

“The hotel was in a great location. The room was comfortable and the spacious bathroom was well equipped. As I was traveling with my 12 years old, we were warned in advance that even moving things in the wet bar would result in charges due to sensors in the refrigerator. All hotel staff was friendly and helpful.”

“The hotel lost two shirts the day of check out. There was no concern or follow up to our request to locate the shirts. The room was a bit dark, the furniture is poorly places and the mini bar frig broke. Very disappointing overall.”

• The staff was very knowledgeable about the near by attractions.
• The parking and valet situation was very confusing for me being a first time dc driver.

“The hotel and a wonderful and romantic decor. Although we did not eat at the restaurant we did have drinks at the bar which was fantastic. Although my wife and I have been together for 3 years the bar took us back to our first date. I loved it. Probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have every slept in. I would recommend this hotel to anybody.”

• The hotel staff was snooty and rude.

“Parking for the hotel was about per day, but luckily it was a weekend so we could park on the street for free. The rooms were nice and the bed was ultra comfy. If you have allergies, their bath soaps and shampoo are extremely fragrant. The staff of the hotel was not helpful and rude. Prepare to pay for local calls. I would not stay here again, but I would use it again, as I love it.”

• I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality and amenities offered at this hotel. I will definitely stay there again. Excellent location!
• I did find a dirty sock in the closet where the safe is - that was a turnoff!

“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Sofitel. It was conveniently located and within walking distance to the Metro. The room was very well appointed with extra amenities such as a bathrobe and slippers, even a candle and fresh flowers in the bathroom! I especially liked the separate tub and shower and utilized both. Very well furnished room and comfortable bed - down comforter, very well lit, felt very "European" with top quality fixtures. I loved my stay at Sofitel!”

• Would be nice to have a room with computers with internet access.

“This was the nicest hotel that we have stayed in in Washington DC. We have stayed in the Madison and the Churchill, which were nice, however this was far superior in location and comfort. It was within walking distance to all of Smithsonian museums as well as the National Gallery, the Washington Monument, and the National Mall. There are many upscale restaurants within walking distance. There is a metro stop within a block, so visiting any of the sites in DC is easy. This hotel is very clean and very nicely decorated. The artwork in the rooms and public spaces is beautiful. They offer free coffee, tea, and newspapers in the morning in Le Bar.”

“The hotel was perfect for our mid-week get away. Close to the White House, monuments, etc... we couldn't have selected a more perfect location. Service was excellent. Room was romantic. The bar was pricey with specialty cocktails averaging $13 each, however, they were fabulous. I would recommend the Sofitel to anyone traveling to Washington, D.C.”

• Couldn't find anything wrong.

“This is a hotel we would recommend whether for business or DC attractions because the location is right in the heart of business and 3 blocks from the Washington and Lincoln Monuments. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Parking was valet parking so be prepared to pay . On weekends you can park free into the permit only spots. Loved the rooms and beds were wonderfully comfortable.”

• The decor was refreshing and tasteful. The bathroom was beautiful and cosmopolitan.
• The restaurant was pricey. Wait staff and food was excellent.

“Furnishings tastefully appointed. Location is in the epicenter of D.C. making everything we wanted to see accessible by walking. The bathroom was stunning. The restaurant was romantic, and the wait staff and chef were professional and cordial, but entries were a little pricey. The food was excellent.”

• The building was old world European style.
• I do not care for valet service. I like to park my own car and have easy access to it.

“I only stayed one night so it is hard to comment. The room was classy, comfortable and stylish. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the spacious bathroom with its separate shower and bathtub - it saves so much time. The room while tastefully decorated could have done with a little more color, especially the bedspread - too businesslike and clinical for my taste. Compared to the Melia hotel in London England the room did not feel as it had the same level of luxury.”

• It was a beautiful, classy place and we felt that we were so lucky to get the room at the price.
• Surprisingly we had a bit of difficulty getting the water to be hot enough in the shower.

“This is a beautiful, modern hotel in downtown Washington. The room had candles, a fresh, fragrant flower, robe if wanted, etc. It felt luxurious and very special to be there.”

• The staff is unbelievably helpful, caring and concerned.
• No top sheet and the maid said she's never seen them clean the comforters.

“Very conveniently located, reasonably priced, dog-friendly, along with good food. Staff is above excellent. I've never gotten a room with a view just the backside view of two buildings.”
