• Courtesy happy hour from 5 6pm, courtesy coffee station in am.
• Commented that we were "lucky" to have a room for the low rate we got on!

“A little confusion upon check in because we asked for two beds in room and they didn't have it available. They wanted to charge us an upgrade fee or extra for a roll away bed. However, they did not charge us extra and even gave us a larger room. The place was very "hip" and friendly. It was great to see the pets (dogs) coming and going.”

• The maid was nice.
• The room smelled like an animal had wet the carpet; the dog blanket was full of animal hairs. The tea service always ran out of hot water early.

• Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The rooms were modern, comfortable and clean!
• I honestly can't think of one thing that didn't meet or exceed my expectations.

“I can't say enough about this hotel. The room we stayed in was so comfortable. Everything about the hotel was comfortable and inviting from the moment we drove up to the hotel. The bed, the pillows, the hotel staff, the wine tasting hour, the pool, etc. It was all so relaxing. It was a great place to come back to at night after a long day of exploring all the many sights in Washington DC. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!”

• Mini bar refrigerator did not work; make up mirror in bathroom in dies repair; no morning paper.

“I stayed at this hotel last year--night and day difference this year. Many things inoperative in my room--no morning paper and if you didn't make it downstairs by 9:00a.m. No Coffee. Huge difference in overall quality and guest services.”

• Loved the free WIFE access and the modern, hip vibe of the hotel.
• Basic rooms are very small.

“Very upscale feel with a modern, urban, hip vibe. Free happy hour, very nice room amenities (including free WIFI). Basic rooms are small in size and there is no shop in hotel for snacks or sundries. Overall, though, great hotel and different from your normal higher-end chain.”

• Cost for parking; flat screen TV were not high definition.

“This hotel is outstanding and conveniently located near Dupont Circle near the metro. It attracts an artsy client, but my wife and 2 yr old had a great time and visit. I would love to stay here again.”

• Housekeeping knocking on the door numerous times before our 12/noon checkout time.

“Received an excellent price. Metro stop is only 1 block away. Our room was huge with a nice business desk/work area, very comfortable queen bed, pillows, and linens. Thoroughly enjoyed this high-end, modern, and boutique style hotel.”

• The bed and bedding were up to par.
• Tiny room, awkward bathroom, unfriendly staff, evening wine reception ends early and after work, no movie channels, etc.

“The staff seem unhappy and therefore are unfriendly. Poor service. Poor atmosphere. The room could not have been smaller. I would not stay there again.”

• The room was very small and didn't have a full-length mirror.

“An art deco atmosphere and friendly service greets you upon arriving at the hotel. The bed is plush and the room has superior linens and towels. A robe is hung in the closet to be used during your stay. The free internet access is very nice as well. However, the room is cramped and without a full length mirror.”

“Great hotel with a great staff. Service and amenities were above the norm. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to D.C. that would like to be in a great neighborhood with quick access to public transportation and looking to get a nice feel of the locals. The evening wine and morning coffee are great ways of starting and ending a perfect day or evening in D.C. I will be back to enjoy this hotel again.”

“In my opinion, the overall experience, decor, and lack of amenities did not justify its rating of four stars; instead, I would rate it as 2.5. I would not stay there again, or recommend it to friends.”

• The city was doing major road construction in front of the hotel.

• The lobby has the coolest music playing! World/jazz/fusion.
• The rooms were gorgeous, but a little small.

“We loved this hotel and would recommend it highly for people on a lover's holiday or on business (I wouldn't want to waste this cool experience worrying about children). The rooms are small but chic, modern, and tastefully decorated. Free wine (high quality) reception in the evening as well as free coffee and tea in the morning.”

• Honest tea in the mini-bar; good internet; good desk chair.
• Inadequate elevators, one of which squeaked; put me on a smoking floor.

“This is really a blend of a 3- and a 4-star hotel. It used to be a Ramada, and they've done a great job of classing it up... But it still has just three tiny, creaky elevators, no grand lobby area, etc. Many nice touches as a top-notch boutique hotel. Except for the elevator (and windows that don¿t open), you'll be very happy here.”

• Very comfortable rooms and bed. Nice decorated with wild animal theme.
• Not having coffee in the room. I did not enjoy having to dress and go to the lobby for morning coffee.

• The service was great, specially the concierge.
• There was a major street construction in front of the hotel.

“My wife arrived at the Hotel before check-in time so the bedroom was not ready. When I arrived she was in a good mood because the people from the hotel talked to her and suggested her to see some places near the hotel while she waited for the room. The bedroom was great with a comfortable bed. We dine everyday in places suggested by the concierge and they were all great. The hotel is 2 blocks away from the metro station which was very convenient. We also used their gym which is small but enough for a good exercise. We felt very safe walking around at night and we loved the complimentary wine at 5pm.”

• Can't think of anything!

“This hotel certainly met our expectations of a 4 star hotel. Its location was central to our weekend plans. Their happy hour and morning coffee arrangement were welcome and enjoyed. Our unique robes in our rooms were a fun addition to the decor. We will stay here again and certainly recommend this hotel. Thanks.”

• The entire room was incredibly comfortable and beautiful.
• Absolutely nothing, we intend to return to this hotel.

“The hotel was more than we had hoped for, very comfortable and indeed, a beautiful hotel and the location could not be beat, we ate at restaurants in the neighbor that were cultural to the area and not food chains, the entire experience was exceptional.”

• The nightly wine reception was a great way to unwind.
• Construction outside the building.

“I would absolutely recommend this hotel. The many extras were appreciated and the service was wonderful. When we arrived, we asked the valet if there was a car wash nearby, as our black car was marred by white streaks from the salt on the roads. He said it was going to rain, so we probably wouldn't want to wash our car just yet. When we checked out of the hotel, the valet had our car washed while it was parked in their lot over the weekend - completely unsolicited.”

• The location was great. In addition the staff was very friendly and helpful.
• The bed could have been a bit more comfortable.

“We were very pleased with the location of the hotel. It was near good restaurants and shops and close to the metro. We found the staff to be extremely helpful and interesting to talk to. The hotel had a wine reception in the evenings and coffee available in the lobby during the morning. The room was very clean and quiet. All in all, a very pleasant experience.”

“Great experience for four nights. Free coffee/tea in the AM plus choice of free paper (even on Sunday). Free glass of wine during happy hour. Refurbished throughout. Very helpful and courteous staff. This is a boutique hotel and does not have everything a larger hotel would have but suited me well.”

• Tries to be way to hip.

“Overall it is a great hotel in a great location. If you do choose to upgrade (as we did) the room you will get is huge. The location of the hotel is great and Duponte circle has many different places to eat. My only real complaint about the hotel is that it tries to be way to hip (especially the front desk staff - they are all twenty-something's that look as if they just fell out of a GQ ad). The hotel tries to be so hip and trendy that it comes across as laughable. (I talked to several other guests that said the same thing) That said, overall we liked the hotel, the rooms are nice enough to make up for some of its other issues. Also the valet parking guys are great.”

“The Palomar Hotel is an excellent choice for the leisure or business traveler. It is conveniently located near the Dupont Circle Metro station and easy to get around town. The rooms were very comfortable and staff were amazingly helpful! I would recommend this property without hesitation.”

• Valet parking is very expensive.
