Valerie from Olympia, WA
“Very spacious room, helpful courteous staff, nice bed and linens. The bathroom was small, but it worked! Nice pool, and the overall atmosphere of hotel was pleasant. Parking/valet was very helpful and reliable.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Ruth from La Verne, CA
“Your location and amenities were outstanding. It is so centrally located and walking distance to Dupont Circle that I was able to sight see without wasting precious time by utilizing the metro. The plethora of places to eat in and around the hotel, i.e. Ruth's Chris, a short walk away. The Adams Morgan area also. I loved the comfortable bed and the cozy throw.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Valerie from Newport News, VA
“This hotel is very hard to drive to if you don't know your way around DC. The room was very nice, and very out of the ordinary. This is not a good hotel for teens, as they don't like to try different ethnic food that was offered in the area. Subway was the only good choice, and Fuddruckers was about 6 blocks away.” Aug 29, 2008 by
Dunfey from Rye, NH
“I loved it and would stay again.” Aug 23, 2008 by
Mike from Wayne, PA
“Terrific location, close to the metro stop. Hotel is modern and the 2nd floor pool is a nice place to hang out for a bit of relaxation. Coffee and newspapers in the lobby in the morning was a great people watching area. It was a fun place to stay and we would definitely stay there again.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Lois from Houston, TX
“This hotel is geared towards the arts community. The decor is very attractive in a wild sense, e.g.: snakeskin pattern in the carpeting and purple velvet couches in the suites. I think some male business travelers might feel it is over the top. When I asked for a larger room, I was told I could upgrade for $40 per night. I refused, and a few minutes later, the desk called and offered me a larger room for. I looked at the room, and it was twice the size so I upgraded. The hotel was only 60% occupancy they told me so I felt they could have upgraded me for free. It was my husband's birthday, and they did send us a fruit plate, bottled water, and a bottle of wine. Location is good - 5 minute walk to metro and lots of affordable restaurants in area.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Mike from Virginia Beach, VA
“To drop off my car twice and pick it up twice from valet, the wait was a combined, 2 hours. This hotel is a complete nightmare. The room itself was not bad. The valet and bell staff were horrible. Not even in any sort of uniform. You could be handing your stuff over to some street walker. Who knows? I have stayed at many hotels over the years and in all of my experiences, I have never in my life, said a bad word about any. This hotel however, is deserving of a bad review. Its horrible people. Don't do it.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Bill from Boston, MA
“A good location for metro, good food, and crisp facilities.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Rena from Kitchener, ON CA
“I would describe this hotel as funky elegant. The rooms were well appointed (we had 2 rooms) - no view but that did not matter. iPod dock and DVD player in the room were a nice touch. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. After we checked in, they phoned our rooms to ensure everything was satisfactory. Location was excellent - close to metro, restaurants and shopping. Great hotel!” Aug 11, 2008 by
Michael from Amherst, MA
“Great!” Aug 9, 2008 by
Jim from Marietta, GA
“World class hotel. Business traveler, leisure, and family friendly. Decor is modern and luxurious. The location is outstanding. Near Dupont Circle (Metro accessible). Great pedestrian area in a safe part of town. Lots of restaurants and bars close by. Shopping and art galleries within walking distance. Also a great "second hand" consignment fashion store nearby, (for the ladies). Would recommend this classy boutique hotel to all.” Aug 7, 2008 by
Erin from Chicago, IL
“The staff at this hotel was fantastic. The location is also perfect. I truly felt like a "guest" here and other than a couple of small inconveniences (the odd bathroom sink faucet and the lack of a full length mirror in the room), this was a flawless stay.” Jul 30, 2008 by
John from Arlington, VA
“The hotel was a lot of fun, a great place to go for a night away with your wife if you can get your in-laws to watch your kids.” Jul 30, 2008 by
M from Bakersfield, CA
“Staff made mistakes at every corner and were never polite or professional. The worst was when they made the choice to work on the water pipe system from 1 to 3 in the morning and were unapologetic about it. The hotel is basically obsessed about making your stay an artful experience, stupid postmodern frills and all, and has totally neglected efficiency, professionalism and service. I hated this hotel. All style and zero substance.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Steve from Newark, DE
“Modern well decorated hotel in good location a few blocks from Metro.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Bonnie from West Chester, OH
“Very trendy and upscale-looking; great location; perfect if one travels with a pet.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Caroline from San Jose, CA
“Excellent; totally recommend for all travelers.” Jul 8, 2008 by
J B. from Sherman Oaks, CA
“This is a trendy hotel that caters to the cool and un-cool alike. While traveling with our toddler they could not have been more accommodating, both in the upscale restaurant and by loaning us a humidifier at 3 AM. The room was huge and we were within walking distance of many restaurants and a Metro stop.” Jun 29, 2008 by
Gina from Oroville, WA
“Very upscale, artistic; restaurant pretty good but a bit off in some ways; elevators need to be upgraded; they were shabby, perhaps from overuse.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Matt from Nyc, NY
“Cozy and hip. A fun place to stay.” Jun 2, 2008 by
Lola from Baldwin, NY
“Overall, my husband and I absolutely loved The Palomar. It has a hip but unpretentious vibe. The restaurant is good, albeit a little slow on the service. I would definitely stay there again.” May 30, 2008 by
Jennifer from Wilmington, DE
“Good Hotel, excellent location.” May 28, 2008 by
Julie from Sioux Falls, SD
“Great accommodations. Friendly staff. Loved that they were kid friendly with cookies and gifts for them upon check-in. Wonderful experience!” May 23, 2008 by
Thomas from Munster, IN
“The hotel is one of the best for luxury and comfort. The staff was always there to help you in your travel and comfort.” May 15, 2008 by
Matthew B. from Dorchester, MA
“I'd stay there any time I could.” May 14, 2008 by
Thomas from Rancho Santa Fe, CA
“This was our second visit to Palomar Hotel. Since last year the hotel has started showing wear and tear - for a 4 star rating needs a face lift.” May 9, 2008 by
Rick from Thousand Oaks, CA
“Nothing worked, the pool was not available, the phone in the hotel room did not work and could not be fixed. The staff was not helpful. They lied and said my phone was fixed but calls could not come through so I missed important business calls.” May 5, 2008 by
Dominic from Gainesville, GA
“Very nice to the eye but they need to work the bugs out of the system. Had to call maintenance 3 times. Bathroom door would not close, A/C did not work, filter was very clogged, and toilet did not flush. The directions started our stay out very poorly and stressful. We called and no one there could give directions. First two times we called the person who was suppose to give directions did not drive and said he would be of no use. Honest at least.” May 2, 2008 by
Kathie from Playa Del Rey, CA
“The hotel is conveniently located near the Dupont Circle Metro stop and is near many restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The problem with the hotel is that the rooms are not adequately soundproofed. The first night we were awakened by our next door neighbors who were not necessarily loud, but it sounded like they were in our room. We asked to be moved and the hotel moved us. The next night we could hear a baby crying in room 2 doors over.” Apr 26, 2008 by
David from Arlington, VA
“This is a great place to stay in Washington, DC. Perfect location and the hotel is beautiful. The room was large and very nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will stay there again when in the city.” Apr 22, 2008 by
Joellen from Albany, NY
“Could not have been more pleased with our hotel in Washington. Close to the Metro, comfortable, helpful staff and most importantly, a wine reception in the early evening. How can you beat that?” Apr 17, 2008 by
Scott from Madison, WI
“Great location, great room, very nice place!” Apr 14, 2008 by
Lars from Great Neck, NY
“Nice boutique hotel but not up to par with other Kempton hotels. Location was great but the rooms were very small and the hotel staff was not very helpful.” Apr 9, 2008 by
Genkuro from San Diego, CA
“According to the Kempton literature, this hotel chain prides itself on being unique. And this particular hotel lives up to the promise. Upon opening the door, the leopard patterned carpet kind of leaps up at you. Ah! Upon opening the closet, two leopard robes (more like costumes) tempt the animal inside of you! Ah! The rest of my particular room was decorated in what I can only assume was an African art decor. I can't really explain the robes. I quickly shut the door and promised never to look again. But I did. I had to. The robes were matted and a bit old looking. But they were wrapped and dry cleaned. How many leopard fantasizing patrons danced all over the room in past safaris? Crawling around. Growling! Ah! The room was immaculate other than the worn carpet and the worn adult costumes. The bathroom, fixtures, furniture, and mini-bar were all top notch. The music was annoying. It was some party. But I didn't attend. I tried to sleep. At 1:00 am, after hearing the party spill out into the streets for hours, I decided it was time for non-prescription drugs. Then I woke up at 3:00 am. And the music ended. So I slept well. But I had an 8:00 am meeting. So from 3:00 am until 6:00 am, I really enjoyed this hotel. I steered well clear of the leopard robes. I slept well. The bed was utterly the most comfortable I have ever slept in (despite people crawling around it like leopards in past safaris). Would not recommend for conservative types. Would not stay again.” Apr 8, 2008 by
Jean from Portland, OR
“A great place to stay in DC. Excellent amenities, including gym, free [and peppy] Wi-Fi, in-room DVD player, comfy bed.” Apr 7, 2008 by
Louise from Cincinnati, OH
“Great hotel, very tastefully decorated, everything in immaculate condition, staff responsive, loved the coffee in the lobby rather than cardboard stuff I would make myself in the room.” Mar 30, 2008 by
Mike from Center Harbor, NH
“Updated modern hotel with excellent service and very good location for Metro users. Rooms are very compact and lack seating comfort for more then 1 person at desk. Difficult to find happy medium on AC due to draft directly on bed.” Mar 22, 2008 by
Frank from Cherry Hill, NJ
“Issues with conveying information between myself and hotel, problems arose and it took an unacceptable amount of time to fix problems (did not get response by mgmt about problem until my vacation was done and I got home). Hotel and room was nice, above expectations, but if room got warm, a smell evolved. Like an old stale smell.” Mar 10, 2008 by
Sue from Manahawkin, NJ
“Staff were very pleasant, especially the doormen. The room was very small but clean and pleasant. Its location was perfect for doing tourist stuff and in walking distance from Dupont Circle as were CVS and Starbucks. Only complaint besides room size was that there wasn't a coffee pot in the room. Otherwise, stay was wonderful.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Sarah from San Diego, CA
“The Palomar is in a great location, close to buses, metro, and within walking distance of great restaurants, a Sunday farmers' market, and many Washington D.C. sights. My room was large, well-furnished and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Complimentary wine bar was fun! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Paula from Holmes Beach, FL
“Loved the modern decor, bathroom sinks cool, getting the NY Times at my door (instead of USA Today), great coffee and choice of newspapers in the lobby on Sunday morning. The hotel staff at the front door make an excellent first impression (being especially helpful and sympathetic when I tripped and fell at the curb!)” Feb 27, 2008 by
Caitlin from Mcminnville, TN
“Excellent location. Good value for the money!” Feb 27, 2008 by
Mitch from Boonton, NJ
“Nice hotel, well kept and acceptable facilities. Great location and friendly evening get together of wine and cheese.” Feb 24, 2008 by
Tina from Winfield, WV
“The Hotel Palomar was beautiful and the staff was superb! I had read in other reviews that this was not a very family friendly hotel. I strongly disagree. My son was greeted at the front desk and given kids Palomar bag filled with goodies. It included a kid's review card to be filled out at the end of our stay so they do care about what kids think of the hotel. The staff gave him a coupon to use for a Milk & Cookie night. Room service brought up a bedtime snack just for him and left without taking a tip! I was impressed. Our room was so clean that it surprised me. I had read that it is a pet-friendly hotel. I am allergic to dogs & cat, so this worried me. I would have never guessed that an animal had ever sat foot (paw) in the place. It was immaculate! I would absolutely recommend Hotel Palomar to anyone wanting to visit DC. It was a pleasant experience. The only thing I didn't like is that it was several blocks to the nearest metro entrance and it was very cold while we were there. All in all, I would stay there again!” Feb 20, 2008 by
Thomas from Des Moines, IA
“I was extremely pleased with my experience. I will go back to the Polamar when I have a chance. The staff was great. The room was well appointed and everything worked.” Feb 17, 2008 by
Beth from Canadian, TX
“The hotel staff was warm, helpful & accommodating; rooms were spacious, and bed was luxurious. Bar and restaurant were fun, and the manager's happy hour every night provided a celebratory atmosphere. You felt great walking in the door here to your room; plus I liked seeing the dogs that were checking in too.” Feb 17, 2008 by
Tom from San Jose, CA
“Hotel Palomar is a very trendy hotel that appeals to the young hip crowd who want to be in the center of the Dupont Circle area. It's about 4 minutes to the Metro station which makes it extremely convenient. The hotel features high end interior design but the lack of sunlight in the modern darkly painted rooms can create a gloomy space. The hotel lobby is a place of activity since the hotel is generous with wine and snacks every day. The staff is very helpful and wireless internet is free which is a rarity.” Feb 16, 2008 by
Nancy from Richmond, VA
“The happy hour and morning tea were great. I have never stayed at a hotel that offers that. Staff was very courteous. Excellent location in DC.” Feb 15, 2008 by
Susan from Morro Bay, CA
“This is an outstanding hotel and I will try to stay here when I visit DC. Great rooms, excellent staff, and great location. They even let me check in early with no penalty.” Feb 11, 2008 by
Jay from Palestine, TX
“Conveniently located in the Dupont Circle area, close to transportation, fine dining, shopping, and meeting areas, this hidden beauty is worth the repeat stay. Though the rooms are "boutique" sized, they are very accessible and tastefully decorated. The staff is what puts this place over the top, treating each guest royally!”
