• Nice, clean rooms with a good layout.
• The staff's appearance and attentiveness.

“The front desk attendant was pretty rough looking and not very friendly. Make sure you ask for your shampoo and such when you check in because there aren't any in the room. I also had to go back down to get toilet paper. When we pulled out the hide a bed, two washcloths fell out.”

• Lobby door locked after 10 even after I called to verify they were available. Had to go to car to call.

“Great rooms, good price. Will stay there again. Since we are not tourists, it's nice to find a room in this price range during the summer for us Alaskans when coming to Anchorage.”

• Big, fat pillows, animal hair, ask for shampoo, poor condition of fold out bed.

“The hotel was in a good location. There was no toiletries in the room prior to checking in because you have to go back to the front desk to get them. I liked that they were free though. All the amenities were great, including the workout room, vending areas and laundry. The bed pillows were so big we couldn't use them. You could feel every spring in the fold out bed and unless you had the loud cool air on, the room turned to 75-80 degrees.”

• Great rooms, nicer than I expected. I liked the suite and everything was so clean and modern.
• The staff was friendly but at times we went to the front and no one was there and we had to wait for a while to get assistance.

“I loved my stay. It was relaxing and the facility was very clean and updated. Everything was comfortable and I loved everything about the rooms. I do wish there would have been a pool/hot tub and I wished there could have been a continental breakfast on the weekend. Other than that I loved it and would stay in an Extended Stay Deluxe again and would recommend it to anyone.”

• There is no parking! Had to pay an extra $10 to park in lot across the street.

“I like the hotel. It is clean. The staff is great. They offer a nice continental breakfast. However, the lack of parking and $10 extra charge to park in the lot across the street were a huge drawback. I would not personally book a room at this hotel. I much prefer their Midtown location.”

• Unsafe parking.

“Although they gave us a complimentary room for the first night. The bathroom was dirty. The second night we checked in and went to our room. The key didn't work. After getting it, we walked into our room to find a man jumping off his bed in shock. They had given us someone else's room. We went back to fix it and she realized we were given the other room and not that. When I mentioned she would now need to compensate that poor man she said "oh no, it happens all the time". I told the management the next morning. This was extended stay on 8th Ave. in Anchorage, Alaska. I sure would recommend you drop Sheraton and extended stay.”

• Annoying amount of smoking immediately outside each door.

“It was a good hotel. Rooms were large and had lots of amenities such as cook stove and fridge. Would have been great for a longer stay than we did.”

“This was a great place to stay for more than one night. The suite was spacious. I also appreciate that you can have you pets there. It was very clean and a good location for local business. I had no concerns about security or the neighborhood.”

• The staff was friendly and very willing to adjust to our bed preference!
• They could definitely be a little cleaner for instance there was something smeared all over the side of the bathroom vanity.

“There were two pots of coffee and one selection of creamer. Hope you like hazelnut. I was told "You can drive over to our other location and eat there." The room had dirty sheets on the bed. I had to go get new ones and make it up myself. The frying pan in the kitchen had a handle that was dangerously loose and looked like it was ready for the trash. The couch had stains on it and the carpet smelled. The room was barely acceptable. I have stayed in the Downtown location and although it is the older building (the one we were at was newly built) it was remarkably nicer.”

• We really wanted a room w/a pool.

“Well like I said we had wanted a room w/ a pool, but this was a nice room. Worked well w/ the kitchen. They had Showtime and a DVD player to watch movies. It was comfortable.”

• It was dirty and had a poor location.

“The size of my room was great but that is where it ends. The first room I was given hadn't been cleaned. There was trash everywhere. There was no bedding on the bed and it smelled like a foot soaked in garbage. I understand that this hotel has a 1 star rating but my minimum expectation for all hotels is that they are clean. When I asked for another room it took a while to find one that was clean. Finally I was put in a "clean" room. The bedding was clean but the bathroom and kitchen area could use some help. My advice, stay away from the Extended Stay in Anchorage!”

• Adequate for my needs, it leaves me with a decision of no two star hotel accommodation.
• Load occupants with going and coming, garbage dump truck at my window at 5:00 a.m.

“I've stayed at the motel 6, and the clock radios there are far and away better than the one at this motel. All I could get on the fm band on it was static. I don't think this is a problem only with the radio in the room in which I stayed, as Ive stayed at this motel in the past and had the same problem. If motel 6 can afford to purchase decent radios, this place ought to be able to, also.”

• Fully stocked kitchen with silverware and dinnerware. Pet friendly.
• Carpet in halls and elevators were badly stained.

“Our three-day stay there was very comfortable. The fully stocked kitchen came complete with a full-sized refrigerator, sink, stove, lots of cabinet space, dinnerware, glassware, silverware and even a dish cloth for washing dishes. Other details included a dining table with three chairs, a hide-a-bed couch, satellite TV. With a DVD player. The attached bedroom had two queen beds and another TV. An ironing board and iron were provided. I felt right at home in this clean room. This is a pet-friendly hotel as our dog, a miniature pinscher was welcome. Another feature we liked was the business room. In it, two computers, with internet and a printer were available to hotel guests, free of charge. This hotel met our needs and made us feel comfortable and at home.”

• Friendly atmosphere, quiet, and comfortable.
• No swimming pool.

“This hotel is not far from the Anchorage Airport, making it easy to get to and from, after a long air ride. We really enjoyed the fact that the room's layout was such that I could go to bed, and my husband could be in the other room watching TV without disturbing me. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help. I highly recommend this hotel, and would stay there again!”

• They would not give us a non-smoking room because we reserved through price-line and got what was left.

“We felt that since we arranged through price-line we were given the least desirable room (3rd floor, smoking, closest to the noisy road--ram 301). They said they were full, but we had made our arrangements a month in advance and checked in by 5 p.m. The carpeting in the hallways was very dirty. Even though the facility seemed quite new, it was not kept up well. I would not recommend this hotel. ”

• Clean, roomy, close to many dining venues.
• The airport shuttle is hit and miss, only runs M-F 9a-5p, but is not guaranteed to operate on a daily basis. The day I flew in, there was no shuttle.

“The hotel's location is good. The staff is semi-informed about hotel policies and information about businesses in the area. I phoned to ensure there was an airport shuttle, which they confirmed ran Mon-Fri 9a-5p. However, the day I flew in, there was no shuttle, and the desk clerk suggested I take a cab. When I arrived at the hotel, he informed me that the shuttle driver does not show up sometimes, and they never really can guarantee when the shuttle will be available.”

• The first 2 nights they sent us to another hotel stating they had had a "flood". It was a downgrade.

“The one night we got to stay there was great. But the first 2 nights they sent us to a Motel 6 at 1 AM in the morning after getting off a plane for 14 hours. I feel this was very poor business practice. Our room was supposedly guaranteed and I had called letting them know when our plane would arrive.”

• The hotel was neat, clean, comfortable, centrally located, and the staff was helpful and friendly.
• No daily cleaning. They don't have to wash my linens every day, but I was expecting it to be cleaned and made.

“Now that I know that there is no daily cleaning I will plan accordingly. I liked this hotel because it was nice, neat, clean, and staff was friendly and courteous. We can save money by not having daily cleaning and we all participate in saving the planet by not having our linens wised everyday.”

• Suite rooms, nice-sized TVs, relatively new.
• 11 am checkout should be noon.

“This turned out to be a really excellent value, as the suites are a step up from the normal ESA efficiencies. It's quite a welcome change from 10 years ago, when the only thing that the same amount of money could buy would be a bunk in a hostel.”
