Location, service of staff.
Building and furnishings were obviously old.

“Definitely adequate for my needs - reasonably quiet, centrally located, staff willing to help with my specific situation.”

Did not like this hotel.
Window was wide open with no screen when I checked in, smelled like smokers, even though I requested non-smoking room.

“It was located in a bad section of town. The windows of couple rooms were wide open with no screens attached, anyone could have entered the rooms, not to mention the bugs and flies. Rugs were dirty, not vacuumed and bathroom was dirty. Was afraid to take a shower, considering the state of the bathtub.”
