  • The lobby was nice but the rest of the hotel was terrible.
  • The rooms were dirty and horrible.

“I traveled with my spouse and 2 teen children so we booked 2 rooms. When we arrived the lobby was very nice but when we went to our rooms, they were both filthy with cobwebs, filthy bathrooms and bugs which included roaches. We called the front desk and we had no choice but to move rooms because we could get our money back and it was late. The 2nd sets of rooms were ok but better then the first set. Also we were charged a resort fee for each room for amenities that didnt exist. They had a YMCA but it could be used due to a national swim meet and there were a bunch of weddings going on which had cocktail hour out by the pool. At checkout the staff member told me it was a favor that we werent charged a $35 upgrade fee. I had to remind her that we were moved because of roaches etc.”

“This room was awful! It was dirty, the sheets smelled like mold, the sink had stains, the door has something sprayed all over it (stains), 5 light bulbs were out, it was loud! The staff would not move me or change the light bulbs. He said, "yes, we are used to hearing how bad it is. Sorry." ugh, this was so disgusting I can not believe someone would rate it a 2.5, obviously nobody.”

  • The price! The location is good, too.
  • The shuttles to universal and back are only at 1 or 2 times per day.

“We had a good experience. We got what we expected. Our room was very large and comfy. You could see it aging, however. We also had an ant problem. We parked beneath a tree and ants were all in our car! (No we didn't have any food in the car). We got someone to spray in our car and 10 minutes later we were fine. Apparently ants like red vehicles!”

  • The room was hideous.

“When I first arrived I thought "wow, this is nice." that feeling lasted until I opened the hotel room door. The smell nearly knocked me over. I felt I was in the super 8 or motel 6. The room was dingy, old furnishings. After talking with other guests, they felt the same way. I got no cell phone signal inside the room and I had to sit outside to use my computer as they do not have wireless in the rooms. All they have is dial up and you have to provide your own phone cords and know the 800 number to your ISP's dial up service. I work online, so needless to say, I went 4 days without being able to work. The guy at the front desk, who was the supervisor, was very rude. Don't let the outside appearance fool you.”

“This hotel is the pits, my feet stuck to the carpet, my daughter was injured because they had a metal piece sticking out of the bed, the ac was frozen when I arrived in the room, it took them hours to give me a new room which was no better, the management did not care that my daughter had been injured, told me to make a claim with there insurance. Not recommended.”

“I know that we are getting a discount but I expect to be treated like the other guests. They put us in a room where the ceiling was peeling and the TV was a 19 inch regular TV on top of a stand with the fridge underneath it. The beds were not comfortable and it looked like an older part of the hotel. The front people at the desk were not friendly in the p.m. Or the a.m. Very disappointed.”

  • Old worn out rooms/towels/bedding, etc.

“Might be nice once they do all of the promised remodeling. Worn out towels, acoustic on ceiling peeling off, stains on sheets/pillowcases, pillows that were older than I care to guess, etc. This property accepts low room rates, but doesn't let you stay in the remodeled rooms that they advertise without paying an upgrade charge. Classic bait and switch. Please eliminate these hotels that prohibit people getting good rates at quality properties.”

“The public spaces were very nice but very deceiving because as soon as you entered an outside hallway the age and decay of the hotel was apparent. The room was very old with stains on the ceiling, mildewed carpet, bureaus with missing knobs, old mattresses, clean but wrinkled sheets. I was not comfortable taking a shower in the tub or walking barefoot on the carpet. They say they are renovating the hotel but it is only the public areas that are getting the attention.”

“The bed didn't have fitted sheets on it, so as soon as we got in the bed, the sheets came off the mattress; the mattress was most uncomfortable. The staff was not welcoming in the least. The wireless internet connection was inconvenient (only available in the lobby or by the pool), so I had to leave my teenage son in the room while I accessed the internet, which added to my generally uneasy feeling about the place. Walking from the south tower to the main lobby was dark and unnerving. I will never recommend this facility to anyone.”

“The rooms smelled of urine, one of the pillows on my bed had a drool stain, both myself and my travel companion were bitten by some type of insect. The elevators that worked looked like they had graffiti on them and the stairwells smelled disgusting. The pool area was not clean and the hot tub looked like a churning pit of filth. So nasty, the staff was apathetic at best and the people at the universal desk were less than knowledgeable about the theme park. All in all a huge disappointment. Seems they have two hotels.”

  • Nothing - overall excellent stay.

“My partner and I had the pleasure of staying here during the EMS Convention in Orlando, We checked in at 01:30 in morning with no problems. We took the room upgrade for an extra $ 35.00 which had the sleep number beds. The beds paid for itself the first night, when we woke up at 06:30, we felt like we had slept for 8 hours instead of only 5 hours. Room was perfect in every way, not a single complaint. Would definitely stay here again.”

  • First two rooms smelled of smoke, dark parking lot, room service very high, bugs in room.

“After going to two other rooms that reeked of smoke, we finally were given a decent room. When we asked about a room in the north tower we were told it would be an extra 35$ a night, which we didn't do. The parking lot was very dark at night and was not lit very well and our room had little bugs running around. We told the management and were offered another room, but we figured we had better leave well enough alone. All in all, it was an ok room.”

  • Wish I could say something that I liked about the hotel.

“The rooms with mold, elevator not working, the stairs were painted and the masking tape were never taken out, the safety rail outside the room rusted and almost falling, cant lean on it or u will fall 2 story down to the parking lot, part of the roof outside the room falling. Smelly rooms. Toilet not working properly. It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed! And they charge me a 7 dollars resort fee on checkout. Is not about the 7 dollars but how can they called that a resort! Its a shame.”

  • I did not stay at the hotel; I just checked In and then realized It was too far from the convention I was attending.
  • The hotel was fine although I didnt stay there; I wasted my money since I couldn't cancel.

Although the distance to the convention I was attending In Disney world was not significant It made It Impossible to be driving back and forth from the hotel to the different events I had to attend, I got a room at the hotel hosting the convention and could not cancel the pre-paid stay at the metropolitan.”

  • After we were upgraded to the good building, we enjoyed our room and stay.
  • The rooms smell and with allergies I couldn't stay in that room. It was horrible.

“If you can stay in the new building, you'll have a very nice room. The rooms are in need of repair (our toilet seat was broken), there's a musty odor, and the room was dirty. I couldn't and wouldn't spend the night in those rooms. I would rate them a 1 star at best. The common areas seemed fine.”

  • They charged me a required $3.50 per day fee for "hotel amenities" even if I didn't use them.

“The hotel was recently purchased and is under new ownership. I stayed there when it was still the Barceló. They are working towards improving the facility and it appears that one day it will be very nice but I would not recommend staying there while it is undergoing renovations.”

  • It room was dirty, the building in shambles, the pillows flat and yellow like freshly buttered pancakes.

“We arrived at the hotel at 10pm with our two young children sleeping. We were immediately impressed by the old school 'Days Inn style' balconies of the hotel. Even more impressive was the plastic bags that lined the balcony in what seemed to be an attempt at refurbishing the place. My wife and I locate a parking spot about 100 yards from the building. The next noticeable fallacy of the hotel was the various puddles of standing water which were unavoidable if you wanted to get to your destination. We found the elevator on the side of building closest to our 4th floor room. We were kindly informed by some other guest that the elevator was not working properly. Already fatigued and desperate not to wake our children, we trekked through the puddles to the other side of the hotel, and distrustfully use the 2nd elevator to finally arrive at our room. To make a long story shorter: 1) the pillows were old, flat and had yellow stains on them; 2) Busted chest of drawers; 3) I had to use my big toe to hold the drain down while talking a shower to prevent the water from filling the tub; 4) The air conditioner blew directly at the bed and froze the closest person to it, me! I had to take two chairs and some towels to block the air. One conciliation about our stay; we were reassured the next morning that the elevator pulley system was not faulty the night before we left by a 6 year old girl coming from the pool. She knew exactly where to kick the elevator door to make it close properly.”

“The hotel staff was friendly, however, they were remodeling a couple of doors down and it was noisy. They were also painting the elevators, stairs, and walls. The elevator didn't work half the time. The room was in decent shape just not what we expected.”

  • This place is really convenient to get to attractive places. It's right in the middle of everything.
  • The cleanliness of this hotel is far under my expectation of a 2.5 star hotel. It should be rated as 1.5star.

“This hotel is convenient to get to places around. However this hotel does not meet its expectation of a 2.5 star hotel. The room is not very clean. The hallway smells very funny. Neither elevator nor the hallway has air conditioner. Although the hotel is small but the pool is a pleasant place to hang out as a family. Its decent and spacious.”

“Dirty, old and rundown, stained carpet, toilet and shower did not work. Hotel charged an additional resort fee upon arrival. I have never stayed in place that was so gross and disgusting. There was crusty stuff and hair on the walls. I refused to shower in the room it was so bad.”

“I have been in Orlando many times; this is the worst hotel I stayed in. After two days in this hotel, I think it would be lucky for this hotel to make 1-star. The ice machine was out of order on the 5th floor close to my room. The elevator smells, so does the room. No complimentary breakfast. What I hate most is the hidden charge: a few dollars a day that you have to pay in addition.”

  • The pool was open late and shopping was conveniently close
  • The stairwell and room smelled bad the whole time.

“The hotel was impressive coming in, but had a lot of staff that didn't speak English which made things very difficult. The hotel buffet food was overcooked the morning we ate there and there wasn't a waffle buffet as they advertised. Room service was great; I never had to ask for towels once. Pool was open really late which was very enjoyable after the Disney parks. Dining and shopping were close by and very convenient to walk to, yet the hotel sits back far enough that it was very quiet. The little gift shop in the hotel had friendly staff and was nice when we needed something and didn't want to go out for it.”

  • Being put off while trying to check in.

“Staff was rude. Hotel room was small and only had one child cable channel and about 20 channels all together. The rooms beneath ours were being refurbished and the elevators were nasty dirty.”
