“The location of the hotel is very convenient to go to anywhere in Orlando (about 15 minutes from the airport and no more than 25 min to Disney and 10 min to Seaworld). Service is good and helpful.” Dec 30, 2008 by
Kim from Fayetteville
“I really enjoyed my stay at the Barcelo, I enjoyed the sleep number bed which was very comfortable for my husband and I back, the breakfast was good, the only things I wish that the restaurant stayed open later than it did, my husband came in late he was a over the road truck driver and everything was closed.” May 11, 2008 by
Anita from Midway Park, NC
“After getting the room was frightened of what I had gotten but when we stayed there is was nice. The grounds were beautiful and the location was excellent.” Mar 9, 2008 by
Danny from Benton, AR
“While the overall hotel was OK there where two sets of buildings a new remodel wing and a crap wing I was never told about the either until I meet some friends and went to there new rooms for same price as mine a crap room I due not believe I was given the proper information when I uses this service to book this room.” Jan 24, 2008 by
Vicki from Carlisle, PA
“Overall, not being in the room much it was ok. The first day my bathroom was not very clean. Floor was sticky. Loud noises and cars leaving at all hours. I will request inside room next time.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Susie from Jackson, OH
“This hotel served our needs perfectly as we needed a day of relaxation before we hit the theme parks. The lobby and grounds were well-cared for and attractive. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool area was pleasant. Some of the public halls and stairways were a little worn and unkept, but they seemed to be working on freshening things up during the time we were there. This hotel met our requirements in a pleasant atmosphere and location. I'd recommend it.” Jan 5, 2008 by
Tom from Marion, IN
“Besides hair event, workers ran the power washers early in the morning outside doors to clean walks. Most occupants had been at Disney until 2 am that day, so it was not very customer friendly.” Jan 3, 2008 by
Jan from Gaithersburg, MD
“Grim, dirty, unsafe. A complete disappointment.” Jan 2, 2008 by
Zed from Calgary, AB CA
“They have the inside and outside rooms. Quality of the inside ones are much better. The other thing was that you had to pay resort fees, whether you used them or not.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Perry from Jersey City, NJ
“This is an unbelievable bad hotel. Strongly recommend against staying in this place by anyone. We stayed there (two rooms) for three days. The second day water supply was intermittent. The 3rd day, there was no hot water at all. We couldn't even take a shower.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Jane from Phoenixville, PA
“Hotel has a very good lobby area but quite shabby in the rooms for guests. Outdated room accessories. But for the price, there is nothing to complain.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Gudrun from Ft.Myers, FL
“If you take an upgrade in this hotel you get a room with sleeping number beds, spacey room and internet access. Otherwise you have to stay in the old (former Barceló hotel) without any comfort. But you can use the YMCA unit for free, what is a great deal.” Dec 30, 2007 by
Luo from Auburn, AL
“Carpet smells really bad. Rusty room. But the hotel personnel are helpful.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Cheri from Boynton Beach, FL
“The beds were uncomfortable. There was only a game controller to use as the remote for the 15" TV. There was an issue with another guest and when I returned to my room the first evening at about 11pm the police were there. It was dirty, uncomfortable and not worth more than $20 a night. I was disappointed that I paid $35 a night for this hotel. Thank goodness I only had to stay there for two nights and was not there for most of the day.” Dec 5, 2007 by
Robert from Friendswood, TX
“My room was located across from the elevator and the loud conversations, banging etc. all night kept my wife and me awake. My phone calls to the front desk did no good as they wouldn't move us. My conversation at check-out fell on deft ears. No help or compensation was offered.” Dec 3, 2007 by
Jennie from Cary, NC
“The hotel actually has 2 buildings. The room smells badly. It cannot be rated as 2 and half star. The front desk refused to change my room to the new building unless I would pay extra $30+ per night. I was very disappointed about the hotel.” Nov 29, 2007 by
Jeff from Tallahassee, FL
“To call this place a resort is a true stretch of the word. I would not recommend this place to anyone I know.” Nov 29, 2007 by
Jim A. from Mishawaka, IN
“We got the older part. We walked in and there was a funny smell. There was a big ball of fuzz or something in the bed when we turned back the covers. We got there at 2 am and really needed to sleep or else I would have had my husband complain. Then when I woke up there was something else in the bed. It could have been a bed bug.” Nov 26, 2007 by
Seung-Min from Dunwoody, GA
“The hotel is worth the money I spent. The quality of two rooms (especially in cleanness) is not worth 2.5-star hotel (ok for 2 star).” Nov 24, 2007 by
Katie from St. Croix Falls, WI
“Lobby & entrance nice, but if you looked close it was quite dirty. Common areas were very dirty; you could tell this was probably a nice place 20 years ago, but has not been kept up. There were small bugs on every surface of our room, but I didn't call to complain because we didn't notice until we were unpacked and it was not worth it to change rooms since we checked-in quite late and were leaving quite early in the morning. I made a deal with my husband that I would only call if there were bugs in the bed, which there were not. The linens were clean but ripped, cut & burnt in spots. The carpet was much stained and the walls were dirty. The movie options on the TV didn't work. When you checkout, there is a $3.50 "resort fee" that I wasn't aware of.” Nov 23, 2007 by
Mary from Dexter, NY
“Clean, nice hotel. I would ask for a room without the sleep number bed.” Nov 21, 2007 by
Martin from Deerfield Beach, FL
“The lobby was very attractive. But the room had a very bad odor. I was very uncomfortable.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Janis from Vero Beach, FL
“I traveled with my spouse and 2 teen children so we booked 2 rooms. When we arrived the lobby was very nice but when we went to our rooms, they were both filthy with cobwebs, filthy bathrooms and bugs which included roaches. We called the front desk and we had no choice but to move rooms because we could get our money back and it was late. The 2nd sets of rooms were ok but better then the first set. Also we were charged a resort fee for each room for amenities that didnt exist. They had a YMCA but it could be used due to a national swim meet and there were a bunch of weddings going on which had cocktail hour out by the pool. At checkout the staff member told me it was a favor that we werent charged a $35 upgrade fee. I had to remind her that we were moved because of roaches etc.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Barbara from Hyde Park, MA
“Very bad. Even though I received a decent price it was terrible.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Terri from Tampa, FL
“Hotel is ok, not as nice as most 2 1/2 star hotels.” Nov 12, 2007 by
Gary from Jackson, KY
“Nice location and staff.” Nov 6, 2007 by
Terri from Jacksonville, FL
“This motel has two sides. One is the north tower. The old south side is a rundown dirty motel that has old furniture, old carpet, and old beds, with stained bedding.” Nov 6, 2007 by
David from Jacksonville, FL
“Don't ever stay at this dump!” Nov 6, 2007 by
Kris from St. Augstine, FL
“This room was awful! It was dirty, the sheets smelled like mold, the sink had stains, the door has something sprayed all over it (stains), 5 light bulbs were out, it was loud! The staff would not move me or change the light bulbs. He said, "yes, we are used to hearing how bad it is. Sorry." ugh, this was so disgusting I can not believe someone would rate it a 2.5, obviously nobody.” Nov 1, 2007 by
Eric from Atlanta, GA
“We had a good experience. We got what we expected. Our room was very large and comfy. You could see it aging, however. We also had an ant problem. We parked beneath a tree and ants were all in our car! (No we didn't have any food in the car). We got someone to spray in our car and 10 minutes later we were fine. Apparently ants like red vehicles!” Nov 1, 2007 by
Dawn from Plano, TX
“When I first arrived I thought "wow, this is nice." that feeling lasted until I opened the hotel room door. The smell nearly knocked me over. I felt I was in the super 8 or motel 6. The room was dingy, old furnishings. After talking with other guests, they felt the same way. I got no cell phone signal inside the room and I had to sit outside to use my computer as they do not have wireless in the rooms. All they have is dial up and you have to provide your own phone cords and know the 800 number to your ISP's dial up service. I work online, so needless to say, I went 4 days without being able to work. The guy at the front desk, who was the supervisor, was very rude. Don't let the outside appearance fool you.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Sharon from Miami, FL
“This hotel is the pits, my feet stuck to the carpet, my daughter was injured because they had a metal piece sticking out of the bed, the ac was frozen when I arrived in the room, it took them hours to give me a new room which was no better, the management did not care that my daughter had been injured, told me to make a claim with there insurance. Not recommended.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Brenda from Melbourne, FL
“I know that we are getting a discount but I expect to be treated like the other guests. They put us in a room where the ceiling was peeling and the TV was a 19 inch regular TV on top of a stand with the fridge underneath it. The beds were not comfortable and it looked like an older part of the hotel. The front people at the desk were not friendly in the p.m. Or the a.m. Very disappointed.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Mike from Cocoa, FL
“Might be nice once they do all of the promised remodeling. Worn out towels, acoustic on ceiling peeling off, stains on sheets/pillowcases, pillows that were older than I care to guess, etc. This property accepts low room rates, but doesn't let you stay in the remodeled rooms that they advertise without paying an upgrade charge. Classic bait and switch. Please eliminate these hotels that prohibit people getting good rates at quality properties.” Oct 31, 2007 by
April from Okeechobee, FL
“The motel was very nice. The beds could be a little bit more comfortable and a lot more pillows.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Cynthia H. from Boynton Beach, FL
“The public spaces were very nice but very deceiving because as soon as you entered an outside hallway the age and decay of the hotel was apparent. The room was very old with stains on the ceiling, mildewed carpet, bureaus with missing knobs, old mattresses, clean but wrinkled sheets. I was not comfortable taking a shower in the tub or walking barefoot on the carpet. They say they are renovating the hotel but it is only the public areas that are getting the attention.” Oct 29, 2007 by
Patricia from Knoxville, TN
“The bed didn't have fitted sheets on it, so as soon as we got in the bed, the sheets came off the mattress; the mattress was most uncomfortable. The staff was not welcoming in the least. The wireless internet connection was inconvenient (only available in the lobby or by the pool), so I had to leave my teenage son in the room while I accessed the internet, which added to my generally uneasy feeling about the place. Walking from the south tower to the main lobby was dark and unnerving. I will never recommend this facility to anyone.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Carolyn from W Melbourne, FL
“The rooms smelled of urine, one of the pillows on my bed had a drool stain, both myself and my travel companion were bitten by some type of insect. The elevators that worked looked like they had graffiti on them and the stairwells smelled disgusting. The pool area was not clean and the hot tub looked like a churning pit of filth. So nasty, the staff was apathetic at best and the people at the universal desk were less than knowledgeable about the theme park. All in all a huge disappointment. Seems they have two hotels.” Oct 14, 2007 by
Tina from North Canton, OH
“I and my family wanted a simple, clean, inexpensive hotel for one night before going to Disney. It was simple and it was inexpensive, but it was not a resort as the name implies and it smelled bad and was in bad shape.” Oct 14, 2007 by
Kim R. from Mount Hermon, LA
“My partner and I had the pleasure of staying here during the EMS Convention in Orlando, We checked in at 01:30 in morning with no problems. We took the room upgrade for an extra $ 35.00 which had the sleep number beds. The beds paid for itself the first night, when we woke up at 06:30, we felt like we had slept for 8 hours instead of only 5 hours. Room was perfect in every way, not a single complaint. Would definitely stay here again.” Oct 11, 2007 by
Lee from Bradenton, FL
“The lobby was very nice looking; I was looking forward to seeing the room. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the condition of the room; it was old and dingy feeling. There were wall tiles missing from the shower. My stay was short, fortunately.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Clarence from Cullen, VA
“After going to two other rooms that reeked of smoke, we finally were given a decent room. When we asked about a room in the north tower we were told it would be an extra 35$ a night, which we didn't do. The parking lot was very dark at night and was not lit very well and our room had little bugs running around. We told the management and were offered another room, but we figured we had better leave well enough alone. All in all, it was an ok room.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Dave from New Berlin, WI
“Lobby / grounds are nice. Good location. Rooms were very basic and need to be updated. The age of the rooms make them seem semi dirty. Small TV.” Oct 9, 2007 by
David from Lynn Haven, FL
“Hotel in process of renovating. They are in process of spray painting the hotel and overspray got on my car. Waiting on Hotel to contact me to get fixes.” Oct 8, 2007 by
Debra from Summerfield, FL
“I would not stay at this hotel again. For a resort it really missed the mark.” Oct 1, 2007 by
Stewart from Miami, FL
“The rooms with mold, elevator not working, the stairs were painted and the masking tape were never taken out, the safety rail outside the room rusted and almost falling, cant lean on it or u will fall 2 story down to the parking lot, part of the roof outside the room falling. Smelly rooms. Toilet not working properly. It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed! And they charge me a 7 dollars resort fee on checkout. Is not about the 7 dollars but how can they called that a resort! Its a shame.” Sep 22, 2007 by
Cesar A. from Phoenix, AZ
“The hotel was not a problem at all. Although the distance to the convention I was attending In Disney world was not significant It made It Impossible to be driving back and forth from the hotel to the different events I had to attend, I got a room at the hotel hosting the convention and could not cancel the pre-paid stay at the metropolitan.” Sep 22, 2007 by
John from Gainesville, FL
“Very nice for the price.” Sep 19, 2007 by
Donna P. from Ocala, FL
“If you can stay in the new building, you'll have a very nice room. The rooms are in need of repair (our toilet seat was broken), there's a musty odor, and the room was dirty. I couldn't and wouldn't spend the night in those rooms. I would rate them a 1 star at best. The common areas seemed fine.” Sep 18, 2007 by
Rick from Okeechobee, FL
“I stayed at this hotel when it was the Radisson Barceló; I feel the rooms are in poor shape.”
