• It was close to my destination.
• The hotel room was very musty, smoky and reeked of bad smells.

“Although the hotel room was very conveniently located to my final destination, the room was very unattractive. The room reeked of smoke and the air was very musty smelling. We found a cockroach in the shower and the fridge smelled of rotten eggs. Besides these unappealing features, the beds were comfortable.”

“I would expect this hotel in a high crime area. First time I had to talk to front desk staff through a plastic screen and the room had a very bad smell. The bed was also very uncomfortable.”

“My stay was pleasant enough for an inexpensive hotel. But coins on the desk disappeared while I was out for the day and one night at midnight a man knocked on the room door asking for money, ostensibly to help pay a lock smith to get his keys out of a locked truck.”

• Air conditioner in room sounded sickly and would not stay on.

“If you want to be near downtown Athens, this hotel is very handy. Also, The Varsity is across the street, so you know you'll have a place to eat! It's a little difficult to find the entrance and parking is a little tight, but once there, you'll find the hotel staff friendly and knowledgeable about Athens. The rooms are old but clean; our only complaint was an air conditioner that never really stayed on. Luckily, it was early spring and not too hot yet.”

• The new carpet had a very wired smell.

“The hotel reminded me of "motels" I stayed in as a kid in the 70's. They tried to update it with new carpet and decor, but the way the hotel is set up with the door to your room right next to the parking lot makes it very noisy. You have to go to a separate building for the breakfast and it was very cold outside.”

• The room was clean and the staff were friendly.
• The breakfast room was too small.

“This hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly. The breakfast dining area was very small and taken up by the hotel cleaning staff with very few seats for actual guests. The only other bad point was the way the housekeepers had to throw their dirty laundry and trash from the second floor down to the first floor which is more of a problem with the hotel design and build than of the staff. I would recommend this hotel and will stay there again if I am in the area.”

“There air conditioner was pre- programmed to never go below 74 degrees. Had to go buy a fan. It was so hot in the room. Other wise it was below the standard room I enjoy staying in but it was the only thing I could find for the location. It was fine for what I paid. Did not feel ripped off. We attended my 19 yr old daughter's college orientation, so the location was a key factor.”

“This is the only hotel I stay at when I go to Athens. The parking is a little difficult, but much better than a garage, IMO. Close to downtown/campus. Wonderful staff and breakfast in the mornings. I have never had any problems here in my 10 plus stays. I would highly recommend this hotel.”

“I believe that we stayed in the motel is for UGA students! The vending machines had nothing in them. The coffee "pot" in the room had no pot and no coffee (it did have the machine and napkin and stirrers). The floors were gross. The bathroom floor had hair on it. This motel was the worst one I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in a lot of motels.”

“This is not a motel I would recommend to a friend. Although the rooms were fairly clean, they were in major need of upgrading. The breakfast area is much too small to accommodate guests, perhaps setting for 16-20 and motel staff occupied 5 of the chairs with no deference to motel guests. ”

“A little expensive for an economy hotel. However, rooms clean (I even noticed them washing the comforters - which is rare in a hotel!), staff friendly and they provide a nice continental breakfast in am. Perfect for students, or the occasional business travel who is not looking for luxury.”

• Blood on bed covers, floor and chair! Small, cramped space.

“Small hotel with steep decline from lobby to motel area. Small rooms, cramped feeling. Room was average; however could have been cleanlier Blood was found on blanket, floor and chair. Yuck!”

“The location is great but that would be the end of great here. The room was cramped, linens tired, bed hard, data port is located between the beds, nowhere near the desk. Their WI-FI never reached above weak so it was useless. I would never return to this Best Western.”

“My room had 2 beds, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, and wireless internet access at no additional charge. It was probably the nicest room. The motel is near downtown Athens, and the parking lot was not as cramped as the lots of other nearby motels. The motel had exterior corridors, so it was not as quiet at night as I might have liked.”

“This hotel is well suited to business, and also popular with UGA students and alumni. Comfortable rooms, very clean. The heat pumps cut off when you leave the room (how do they know?), so you come back to a cool or warm room, depending on outside temperature. Overall, though, good value for the money.”

“I loved the location of this hotel. We were right in the middle of the University of Georgia and very close to shopping strips. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were small but very clean. For the price I paid, I was very happy!”

• It was beautifully decorated and as an added bonus it had a microwave and a fridge!
• There was limited parking and spots were hard to find at night.
