• How clean everything was, shuttle service in Annapolis.
• Had to pay for valet parking, add $15 a night to your bill.

“Overall, a great place to stay in Annapolis, super clean. Parking is not free, or even part of the room. Staff was perfect, small miscue in the bar area with condiments. If not for these two items it would have been perfect and the bar thing was really nothing! Oh, watch out for the prices at breakfast too!”

• center-city location within walking distance to just about everything!
• our room was within about 20 feet of the elevator and was extremely noisy

“I have stayed at the O'Callahan on previous occasions. These times were NOT booked via Priceline. Our rooms have always been extremely luxurious and wonderful- however this time, it seems as though they took advantage of the fact that I had prepaid via Priceline and put us in their worst available room. The room itself was nice, but the door had large gaps around it which allowed every sound from the hall to penetrate; and with it (the room) being within 20 feet of the elevator, we heard loud noise all night long. Also, the window overlooked a trash bin, along with the driveway, which was also noisy. I think this room would have made a better storage closet than a guest room!”

• The room was very nice and looked freshly renovated.

“The hotel was a few extra blocks off the harbor, which was nice and kept down on the foot traffic coming out of the local bars. It was a short walk to all of the local restaurants, bars, and the Naval academy.”

• The location to Main Street was great. A short 15 minutes walk.
• Parking is $15.

“Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. I did not spend a lot of time in it because we were doing a lot of other things in downtown Annapolis. I thought the hotel was clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. The location was great, a short 15 minutes walk to main street and the water. Beware of the $15 parking.”

• It is a clean, decent hotel that is within reasonable walking distance of most city sights.
• The restaurant was very disappointing.

“This hotel is a decent, pleasant hotel. It is a 15-20 minute walk from the sights of Annapolis, which makes it convenient. Parking costs $15/night, which I didn't realize until I saw my hotel bill. However, the parking is a one-time fee (as opposed to charging each time you drive in and out), and it's a comparable rate to parking in downtown Annapolis. Don't eat in the hotel restaurant for breakfast. The breakfast buffet is a rip-off. They charge $10 for continental and $13 for a hot meal, which consists of sad-looking bacon, dried out scrambled eggs, and rubbery sausage links. Once they're out of a particular cereal, juice, or cream cheese, that's it - no refills or replacements.”

• Very accommodating, great shuttle service to historic Annapolis.
• Air conditioner very loud.

“The staff was friendly and the shuttle driver very nice and helpful. Hotel was nice, very European (small rooms noisy air conditioner) and was acceptable but certainly not a 3.5 star hotel.”

• It exceeded my expectations.
• Only one pack of coffee in room.

“This was a wonderful holiday. The hotel staff was polite, helpful and always around. The hotel is close to everything I wanted, I felt safe and comfortable walking at night to return there. They seem to be environmentally aware and encouraged recycling. On my next journey to Annapolis I will again try to stay here. I appreciated Priceline and the amount I paid as without them I would not have been able to afford this holiday and enjoy the luxury I did. Thank you.”

• Nothing!

“The desk clerk was very friendly and welcoming - no snobbery. The hotel location was excellent, the room was very attractive, and the dining room menu, while somewhat limited, offered delicious food. Also, despite the downtown location, our room was located in a very quiet section.”

• Staff was very friendly.
• Room was small; missing some amenities.

“My stay at this hotel was very brief as I checked in late and left early, so it was basically a place to lay my head. The room was small, but comfortable and the bathroom was adequate. The walls were thin and, sadly, the maids were very loud in the hallway in the morning. There were no bathrobes in my room. Overall, the hotel was fine for the quick overnight. The hotel staff with whom I interacted were very friendly and helpful.”

“Beware of fourth floor rooms. If they stick you in one near the conference rooms beware of parties with very loud DJ's, you might want to inquire at the front about upcoming functions. The room is okay. Carpet was stained but bathroom was clean. Definitely not in the same league as the Westin or Loews.”

• Mattresses poor quality.

“Disappointed. The mattresses resulted in a back ache. The hotel staff was not helpful with the noise until 2:30 am. Other hotel guests were out in the hallway yelling at the kids and for help from someone in charge.”

• very accomodating - quick with the porta crib!!

“hotel was centrally located. a nice walk from town or a quick ride, whichever you prefer. rooms are decorated warmly, beds are comfy and the shower was rejuvenating.the staff was very helpful and when i asked for a crib, it was brought to our room within minutes. i would definitely visit with the o'callaghan family again and would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to annapolis.”

“The hotel was in a great location. Easy to walk to all the main attractions in Annapolis. The AC unit in the room was very noisy. Enough to cause loss of sleep. I could also hear other guests through out the night. This is not a quiet hotel and I would not stay there again.”

• The staff was polite.

“Rooms were very shabby - worn carpet, stained bedspreads. Bathroom was in dire need of upgrades. The food in the tavern/bar was not good. Overall, I was very disappointed with the cleanliness/appearance of the hotel. It certainly was not on par with what I expected of a 4 star hotel in that area.”

• I think the food at the restaurant was good as well as the price.
• Our room was right next to an employee only room and right near the maids employee room.

“I think this hotel was nice, but not for a romantic getaway. Were placed near the rooms where the employees come and go. It seems great for work related travel. Room had a nice bathroom. The people working at the hotel seemed nice.”

• Every staff person there was fantastic.
• Paying for parking.

“The hotel staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a great location - walking distance to the bay and all the shops near it. The rooms were nice but the staff is what make the hotel. Also, it is the quietest room we have ever been in. You could not hear anyone above you or next to you. I would recommend it to anyone without children or with older children mostly because there isn't a pool so there isn't much for your young children.”

• Cleanliness of room and friendly staff, especially valet man on Tuesday, July 8 2008.
• I thought we would be closer to harbor. The walking distance was too far with young children. I did not know that there was complimentary shuttle.

“Very clean, modern rooms. Quiet atmosphere, relaxing. Staff was friendly. You can park at garage across the street for half the price. I wish the staff would have informed me about the complimentary shuttle upon arrival. I have two small children and the distance from the hotel to main street/harbor area is too far (especially on a hot sunny day). I would stay here again.”

“A quality European style hotel with decent sized and well appointed rooms. The staff is very pleasant and efficient. The location is ok, it is located within a few blocks of downtown, Navy Stadium and several more blocks to the Naval Academy. There is a charge for overnight parking, but at least there is parking.”

“Very clean and modern hotel with an old world charm. Staff was really friendly and helpful. The shuttle to destinations in the city was very convenient. Rooms were well appointed and requests for additional pillows were handled promptly. A pleasant surprise for a hotel we were not familiar with.”

• The bartender was very friendly and pleasant to talk to.
• It could have been a little closer to the water, but it certainly wasn't far.

“This is an excellent hotel. The location was fine, the staff was outstanding, and we were very satisfied with our room. The entire building was safe, clean, and friendly. We had a great time in Annapolis largely because of the comfort and quality we found during out stay. We were totally satisfied and would return without hesitation.”

• Location and price was noteworthy.
• The room was just standard. nothing great about the linens or decor.

“I would recommend the hotel, but I've stayed in better. The linens were fair and the shower curtain was too short which made it blow in while showering. Sounds silly to mention that, but who wants a shower curtain touching them? They didn't put much thought into the curtain and could have spent money on better linens and pillows.”

• The men who worked at the front desk were nice.
• Hole in ceiling, loud A/C, doors slam shut.

“Hotel was booked solid so when we asked for a room change they could not offer us anything. A/C was so loud and cycled so often (window unit) that we could not sleep. Doors were not adjusted properly and slammed extremely hard and loud every time they shut again woke us up when a neighbor (thin walls too) would shut their door. The sprinkler system popped through the ceiling drywall and was unfinished looked pretty bad.”

• Nice restaurant and bar, with appetizer specials in the evening half price.
• Fitness room is small and cramped, mattress very hard.

“Cozy small hotel with European feel, elegant lobby and Irish bar and restaurant. Very friendly staff and rooms very clean, notably bathrooms! Located on a street with other upscale restaurants and Starbucks 2 blocks down. We would definitely return on our next trip to DC.”

• The staff could not have been more friendly, efficient, or accommodating.
• To say this hotel was on the "waterfront" of Annapolis was misleading.

“I would highly recommend this hotel, save (there was not room above) the fact that parking is also problematic here -- it's either valet parking or down the street in the city garage. But that is a minor quibble.”

“Location was great though no way near the Waterfront. Staff was nice. Room was clean. Valet sign a bit out of distance to notice it was additional money to park (IMO) - thought it was included in my overnight stay. Didn't seem like there was much option other than to valet when dropping off bags. Guess I should have asked.”

• Room service is fast and good, even late at night.
• Bathroom was a bit small and lacking in nicer touches.

“This hotel strives for a Euro-boutique identity and is blessed with a location convenient (i.e. walking distance) to Downtown Annapolis. I did notice a faint musty/moldy smell in the hallways, but perhaps this is supposed to be part of that old world charm thing. Valet parking at the hotel is expensive relative to other parking choices that are close at hand. It's a small thing, but I was surprised that only bath gel and shampoo are provided (no conditioner). All in all there was little to complain about and we had a very comfortable stay. I would return again.”

• I loved this hotel because it was tastefully decorated, comfortable, and clean. The staff was very friendly.
• Restaurant food was ok but not what I expected compared to the rest of the hotel.

• The location in Annapolis.
• Menu selection and food were not what I expected from a supposed 3 star hotel.

“Location is great, staff was great, and hotel was not a 3 star, not even close. It was maybe a 2.0. Restaurant was not good, very poor menu selection. Should have told us at check-in or by signage that valet parking was $15.00/night. When they charged it but did not tell me.”

• 2 queen size beds rather than the usual 2 full.
• Toilet paper keeps falling out and watch out so you don't bump into the metal soap dish in the tub.

“Very friendly staff, complimentary shuttle service, hotel can be missed as it's in between two hotels with flags and big letters, queen size bed was my favorite thing-better night sleep!”

• We had to pay $15 for Valet parking...there was no self-parking.

• Very clean room and public areas - did not have normal stale hotel atmosphere.
• Nice room, but nothing too special - small towels, decor bland.

“This hotel is very nice if you are looking for a good place to sleep for the night. It is VERY clean and does not have the typical stale hotel air, which is definitely a plus. The bed was quite comfortable - not the best, but far from bad.My basic reservation about this place is that it is trying to be an upscale hotel, but seems to fall short. The services and amenities are limited. The decor and finishing touches on things are bland. The towels are small (smaller than usual) and rough. The staff is helpful, but not overly service driven. I did not eat at the restaurant or bar.”
