• Very pleasant staff.
• Getting into the road to the hotel was very unsafe. Large congested intersection.

“Overall we were very happy with our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I would stay there again. We used the pool and it was clean. My daughter used the exercise room and it had a variety of different machines. I wish they had complimentary breakfast but they had a small restaurant that served breakfast. They also had a bar but it closed at 10:00 pm so we did not go there.”

• Great location.
• No water pressure; pool too cold to swim; no hot tub; no night life.

“The hotel itself was fine, the heater was broken for both pools - so we couldn't swim at all. Also, the local restaurants closed super early and there was no night life.”

• Exterior needs work and be more inviting.

“I would have never considered staying at this hotel if I was to drive by - the curb appeal is almost zero but surprisingly, the interior was much better. We were greeted courteously and efficiently. The room was what I expected - clean and updated. The only thing was when my daughter wanted to take a shower, she called the front desk asking for more shampoo and conditioner and they had her come down to them to pick it up. Not convenient. I feel if you do not provide it to begin with, when requested, the staff should bring up any items to the room. Overall, experience was good.”

• The front desk staff was very responsive.
• A/C in the fitness room was broken.

“This Holiday inn is not as nice as many Holiday Inn Express motels. Besides the A/C in the fitness room being broken, the hallways were hot and there was no WiFi or internet access in the rooms, although there was in the lobby. Would not stay here again.”

• Remodeled modern rooms.
• Pool was dirty.

“Overall, good place to stay. A little tricky to get into but nice updated rooms when you get there. Our room had sliders right to the pool which was nice. The pool was a little on the dirty side and the kiddy pools filter cover on bottom was not secured (dangerous). Bathroom showers spigot not easily understood either (lol). Liked the decor but would have been nice if beds were queen sized.”

• Good location from highway, Indoor Pool.
• Train and highway noises. Cooling system in room.

“The room was better and not as noisy as a result of train and highway noises. We changed rooms, as the first room was next to the elevator. The pool was not heated as well and was cold. The locked doors at night did not conform to the times they had listed. Floor in lobby not flat (large bow in it) and luggage cart had a flat tire.”

“I stayed in the older part, the old Sheraton. Hotel seemed clean but only if you don't look in the corners. Not a real showplace Holiday Inn, but the bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and the bathroom was big. Parking lot needs to be lit better.”

• I found the hotel in general to be very nice.
• The parking lot and the entrance into the hotel itself would have looked better had it been swept.

“I had previously read the reviews, but knew they had been renovating, so decided to try it anyway. I was very pleased with the hotel over all. The room was spacious and comfortable, as was the bed. The pool area and restaurant looked inviting, but I did not have time to enjoy them. Staff was accommodating as well. I will definitely stay there again.”

• Very clean and friendly staff.
• The indoor pool was cold.

“Very clean, everyone was friendly, room service was great. However the indoor pool was extremely cold, so that wasn't enjoyable. There was a sauna or hot tub advertised too can't remember which one of the top of my head. Well, I was told they closed that down 2 years prior. Other than that, We had a very nice time there.”

• The room was very nice, and the chairs in the lobby were super cute!
• The service was not as good as expected for the star level of the hotel. The entrance was inconvenient due to remodeling.

“The room was comfortable and very nice. The staff was very slow to help us (10-15 minute wait for ANYONE to help us at the front desk at 2am). For a three star level hotel, We felt that the service was severely lacking, and that the crowd of apparently drunk people hanging out nears the entrance (back entrance-due to construction) was extremely low class. We have stayed at other hotels on the same exit, for much less, and were offered breakfast (free) and better quality service. The room however was attractive.”

• My wife & I wanted a night away & we thought the room was very comfortable & romantic.
• The main entrance was blocked because of construction but wasnt a big deal we know things have to be done couldnt be helped.

“I enjoyed the stay. Restaurant staff during breakfast was very slow. Only 2 people in restaurant. I had to find the waitress so I could pay after waiting 10 minutes. The pool being closed was a bummer too. Wish there was some advance warning because do Hydro-therapy and would have stayed elsewhere.”

“Entering the hotel property was confusing as you have to find the frontal service road off the highway. There was parking lot construction which took up a lot of parking, but overall a nice facility, especially the pool.”

• In short, the place is a dump.

“Horrible customer service from the desk clerk that checked me in. Poor attempt at remodeling an old hotel. There were several hotels near by that were way better this one.”

• Under construction, the first floor reeks of mold.

“The building housing the holiday inn in Harrisonburg is old, and the company is trying to address the issues. However, this seems to be occurring at a slow rate. The smell in the lobby-- of mold -- was alarming. However, higher floors were fine. Apparently people still smoke in restaurants in Virginia. While eating breakfast, five men pulled out cigars and started smoking and we could not finish our meals. The food was not very good anyway. We ate elsewhere for the rest of our stay. The new beds in the rooms were excellent, however.”

• It was right off our route for the evening and there was a lot around the hotel.
• The rugs were absolutely horrible. They are renovating right now!

“I think that the price was good but I don't think that it should be an option while they are renovating. I guess I should've put in a cheaper price because it wasn't worth the 91.00 we paid for the night. Once the renovations are done it will probably be very nice but right now it didn't meet our expectations.”

• One clerk apologized for the poor room conditions & advised me of my rights.
• Peeling ceiling. Peeling wall paper. Stained drapes, lamp shades. Dirty curtains & filthy floors.

“My husband described the room as uninhabitable. The hotel had no other rooms available. We went to another hotel where the air and the rooms were clean. We never even took our bags out of the car.”

• The hotel staff was friendly and somewhat helpful.
• In room movies/telephone did not work. Toilet leaked. Construction right next to our room.

“Our overall experience at this hotel was horrible. When we got to the room our we could not get an outside line on our phone. When we came back from dinner the carpet inside our door and in the closet were both soaking wet with water that was leaking out from under the toilet. Our in room (pay) movies would not work the entire time we were there. I was in such a hurry to get out of the hotel on Sunday morning that I left my coat hanging in the closet and it is yet to be found. My PDA was in my jacket pocket that beeps loud for all of my appointments, so it's not a hard coat to find. Through all this the staff at the front desk and the manager has remained polite and helpful. I will never stay at that hotel again! There are plenty of hotels, for the same price, in Harrisonburg that we can stay at. Holiday inn will not be one of them! They would have to pay me to stay there.”

• This was not even close to a 3 star hotel. Needed to be a lot cleaner.

“Under renovation, a bit messy and noisy. Outside rear door entrance had no lock, the pool area was very dirty looking and the lights didn't work. Would not recommend staying here until renovations are complete. ”

“It was adequate for my needs. It was undergoing a renovation from another chain to holiday inn . There were workers still working outside at 7:30pm in January. It was hard to see them as I was driving into the hotel.”

“The hotel is conveniently located right off of interstate 81. The room was clean, but it could use an some refurbishing. Sheraton advertises their new beds, but I found them too soft for me. I prefer sleeping on a harder mattress. The pool area was really nice. There is a nice kids pool and a hot tub. The larger pool is suppose to be heated, but the heater was not operating so the water was pretty cold. We ordered dinner and breakfast from room service. The food was average and the prices were what I would expect for room service. The staff was friendly.”

• Convenient location, friendly staff, fun bar.
• No free wireless and the pool heater was broken while I was there.

“If you like to hit town and not have to leave the hotel for meals and recreation this is a great place. Good food, fun atmosphere in the lounge and a nice pool, exercise and hot tub area make leaving the hotel unnecessary. But when you do venture out it's right next to the Interstate and close to downtown and other attractions.”

• This room was a good place to spend the night in Harrisonburg
• The full beds did not impress me very much.

“This hotel was located close to the interstate, but very hard to figure out how to get there. You could see it, but it took us a couple tries to actually get to it. I felt that the beds were due to be replaced. The room was comfortable and clean.”
