• Outdoor patio off bar with view of Times Square.
• Curtains that opened at 4AM due to some malfunctioning alarm we never identified.

“We were given free drinks at the bar and 30 minutes later were told they had an unfinished room- meaning newly remodeled, but no mini bar nor a safe, and no bathroom fan we later discovered. The room was bigger than many NYC rooms we've had and when it is finished, it will be nice.”

• Large, clean, very comfortable room with a great view of Broadway.

“One of the truly great midtown hotels with large clean comfortable rooms, modern very clean bathrooms and a great location on 52nd St. off Broadway. The view of Broadway from rooms on the higher floors is spectacular both day and night. The staff is friendly and helpful.”

• The view of Times Square from the terrace is amazing!
• Loved it all!

“We would definitely return. Great location to shows and Times Square. Very quiet on the 20th floor. Room was very spacious for NYC. The terrace off the restaurant was great for relaxing and viewing Times Square!”

• Most convenient to go to Broadway theaters.
• The area is very crowded with people.

“When we checked in, the hotel elevators were out of order and we had to walk around a block to get to the utility elevator. The hotel lobby was located at 7th floor and we had to make a few changes of elevators. When we got back to the hotel in the evening, the elevator was fixed (but only one working elevator). Other than that we had no problems and had a very pleasant stay. Since I am a theater lover, the hotel location was ideal. The view of Broadway and Times Square from the room was wonderful.”

• Location was
  very convenient.
• Roaches at bar (2 little ones).

“Lobby area was very modern and nice. Room decor was a bit dated, though comfortable. Staff was nice- room was very large for New York. Bartender was very friendly but there were 2 cockroaches that crawled on the bar while we were there one night. As squeamish as I am about bugs, I would still stay again. Rooms were clean- wasnt concerned about bugs there.”

• The location in NYC was excellent.
• A few things didn't work in the room e.g. one light and a drawer kept opening.

“We enjoyed our stay at the Novotel Hotel in downtown Manhattan. The location was so convenient to Time Square, theatres, and fabulous restaurants. We felt safe and well looked after in the hotel. Although it's not fancy it was certainly quiet and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend Novotel Hotel to friends and family.”

• The elocution is pretty good!
• You pay a very high price, and the hotel does not offer complementary things such as, more than two towels, free wireless, or even free luggage storage.

“The hotel has a really nice location. However, for the price you pay, I believe they should offer some features to their customers, such as free WiFi, more then two towels and luggage storage.”

“This hotel, although the location was great right on 53rd and Broadway at the top of Times Square didn't compare to the other two in terms of quality. The room was small, very old looking and dingy. They do offer Verizon Wi-Fi but is chargeable. If you are just using the room to sleep at night after a long day of running around the city it will be fine. I did however feel the room was overpriced.”

• So called business office had 2 computers which were mostly hogged by the younger generation.

• Seems to be a little more line 2.5 stars than 3 stars.

“I have not been to New York since 1999. Even then I stayed in New Jersey. This hotel did not seem like a three star hotel that I am used to in California or Florida. However, for New York perhaps it is three stars (I would rate it more like 2.5 stars). Nice location. Simple but comfortable.”

“Rooms are dingy, carpets stained, bleach stains, mattresses were old and stiff, bedding very worn, curtains very dirty, room had bad odor, some rooms we're missing the plaque and had the room number on paper taped on the door. We went to the bar for a late drink at 12:30am and the bartender was out of fruit. We had gin and tonic and Corona without limes. I would not recommend this hotel.”

• I liked it's location relative to Times Square & the view outside our window.
• The hotel wasn't the most modern, or clean, and the bed was not very comfortable. They charge for internet.

“It had a convenient location, but was not the best hotel I've stayed in. It's an older hotel, so it's not as clean as newer ones, the AC doesn't get very cold, the sheets are not very soft on the bed. The best part is the hotel's location and views out of the window (rooms ending in 01-05 have views of Times Square.).”

• I reported the ice machine in our floor nook, but it did not get fixed.

“Very friendly staff. Ordered room service and the food was delicious. Room was on the small side but decorated very nicely. Our view from the room was fabulous. Only complaint I have is that I had to go to another floor to get ice, even though I reported it the first day.”

“Great location! That is the best thing I can say. Rooms were a big disappointment. Only average condition, older dirty carpets and peeling wallpaper. Small bathroom. Leaky toilet. Showerhead broken. Bed was hard as a rock! No coffee anywhere to be found! Luckily Starbucks 23 floors down and across the street! Somewhat uncaring staff. Strangely enough, had a difficult time getting a new bar of soap!”

“This was a very nice Hotel. I liked the way you come in to a small reception area then go to the spacious lobby on the next level. The beds were comfortable, but my sheet was not fitted and it kept coming off the mattress. It was located close to most of the important areas to see. Will definitely go back.”

“I asked for two beds, no smoking. Got one bed in a smoking room. Got moved to another room with the two beds. But it too was a smoking room. Then the day mgr. said he'd get me a non smoking room after 3PM and move the luggage for me. Didn't happen and the night crew absolved themselves of all responsibility. I made a little fuss and did finally get a room on a non smoking floor, but was told to move the bags myself. The air conditioning in the room didn't work and it was 95 degrees outside. Fan in bathroom didn't work. Hair in the tub (not ours). Broken elevator button so the car only went up. Staff was very unconcerned about our comfort. Service in restaurant so slow, we ate elsewhere. Outdated nasty looking rooms. The must have bought it from an existing hotel and did zero to refurbish the rooms. The furniture looked like it was homemade in 1950 and had been painted over many times. Overall a huge disappointment.”

• Convenient to Times Square. Lobby had an outside terrace with views of Times Square and a small lounge.
• No refrigerator in the room.

“I was pleased with the location and atmosphere of the hotel. Central park is within walking distance, very accessible to most subways. The room was a decent size for New York City. The lobby and bar/restaurant area were well decorated/clean at all times. Prices at the restaurant were reasonable, drinks were expensive (but strong!). There was a little gift shop that carried necessities/reading materials. Overall I was very pleased with this hotel and would stay there again.”

“This is a great place if you want to be near Time Square and it's very attractive to the eye. Employees were very friendly, but the rooms really needed to be updated. It does have fast elevators and when your room is on the 33rd floor, that's important. It was pretty good for the price and being in New York City.”

“My mom fell when using the revolving door entrance way. The door men were only minimally attentive at best. They did tell us that we could use the "regular" door way for entering and exiting the hotel going forward. On one occasion when we were entering the building, the doormen had the exit door locked and would not let us go through the door. They were very rude, turned their back on us, and told us that they did not have a key to unlock the door! I immediately notified the manager on duty. He did apologize and indicated he would address this situation.”

• It was the cheapest I could find at 3 star.
• All the staff were Eastern European - Service but no smile.

“Hotel is a bit grotty. It is undergoing refurbishment but it needs a makeover. The biggest problem was that all the staff - I mean all the staff - were Eastern European. Nothing wrong with that, provided you're happy with start, cold service without a smile. They wouldn't know what 'having a nice day' was.”
