• For a Manhattan hotel, I was impressed with the size of the room and that it had a kitchenette.
• Small bathroom.

“I was happy with this hotel. I was there with my mother (70) and daughter (12). It more than met our needs. We only had one bed, but they brought up a roll away which worked out nicely. This would not have worked if we had come as a family and would have needed 2 beds.”

• The location was great.
• The hotel itself is old. Window air conditioner, old bathtub, etc. I thought that it would be more updated and modern.

“The location is great. We were near Penn. station and took the subway to several locations i.e. Yankee Stadium & Staten Island Ferry, etc. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the room you may not find it posh. It is an old hotel that has nice furnishings/decor. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Since we were out all the time except for sleeping at night it was a good fit for us - especially the price.”

• Lobby area was very nice. Hotel staff was helpful.
• Rooms were small and unattractive. Bathrooms small. Room was not 100% clean.

“Hotel did not meet my expectations. I would have tried to move to another one if we had not already paid for it fully. I've stayed in nicer hotels. Lobby was deceiving. Very beautiful, but the rooms did not match up to the quality.”

• We were upgraded to a suite which included a kitchen, living area, and terrace with amazing views.
• We were expecting a larger bed and newer TV.

“Besides the amazing views from our terrace, we loved being right in the heart of Manhattan! The Affinia is right across from Penn Station and MSG. This hotel is a great pick for any traveler!”

• The room was outdated and dark and not very clean. AC was loud window unit.

“My expectations based on reviews from others were that the hotel would be up to date and renovated. My room was larger than expected-- two rooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen. However, the furniture, carpeting, drapes, bathroom and general appearance of the room was old and dingy. The room was not overly clean, especially the kitchen. The location was great and the bed was fine but I would not go back to this hotel- even though the price was great.”

• I liked the kitchen even though it was small. It was convienent.
• The bathroom had dirt in the corners. It looked clean other wise

• Location.
• Bad smell so asked for change of room & was downgraded instead of upgraded.

“I had extremely high expectations of this hotel and they were definitely not met. I was traveling with husband and teenage daughter and they would not give us a one bedroom suite. The room we did get had a nasty smell to it and when we complained and asked to be moved we were downgraded to a smaller and even less nice room. I was very let down.”

• Great location across from Penn Station, fridge/micro for families.
• Small bathrooms laundry area.

“Great location near Penn Station. Yes previous comments state dated hotel room but as a tourist you are out of the room for most of the time. If you are looking for a luxury NY hotel this is not it. For families great hotel room size for NY. Great access to subways and getting around Manhattan.”

• I had to upgrade my room, it was very spacious.
• The hotel is very old, it is a beautiful hotel, but the construction is dated.

“This hotel should be rated between 2.5 to 3 star hotel. If the hotel was modern, than it should it could be a 3.5 star hotel.”

• Location.
• It was dirty. There was a cockroach and broken tiles in bathroom.

“No way is this a 3.5 star hotel - 2.5 stars maximum, maybe less. Public areas are okay, but I had to change rooms, as there was a huge cockroach in the kitchenette in my first room. My second room had dirty and broken tiles in the shower stall. All in all a rather rundown and dingy place. I would not stay there again.”

• The lobby was impressive - big and nicely decorated.
• The bathroom was smaller than my spare closet at home, and the room was old and not fancy at all.

“Attractive, great staff. Overall a nice experience. I only stayed one night so it was good for that one night, however I found it odd that there was no bathtub in my room and yet there was a kitchenette. But still a very nice experience.”

• I liked the fact that staff were always ready to help if needed.

“The Affinia Manhattan was clean and attractive. I ordered breakfast in my room and it was excellent, the poached eggs just right and the sides were tasty. The meal was hot when it arrived, always a bonus. The spaciousness of the room/suite was appreciated. It wasn't noisy and I felt very safe in the hotel and the surrounding areas.”

• It's location was good and Aveda products in the bathroom.
• Parking was very high and Internet poor.

“The hotel staff was not honest about the difference in valet parking and self parking. &57 a day for an SUV, $8 less for a car. They said there was a $3 difference a day when in fact there was a $13 difference. The
WIFI was slow and did not work for several hours. It was also not include but $13.98 a day.”

• I did not like anything and had a horrible experience.
• The lobby staff members were not very understanding and mean.

“I had a very bad experience here. Hotel was not at all decent. The people at the front desk were mean, not too smart, and could not accommodate us. The room was dirty and smelly, bed uncomfortable, and the bathroom looked like a college freshman's dorm bathroom. I was very unhappy and couldn't put up with it at all and eventually left that night and checked in elsewhere. Parking fee??”

“The Affinia Hotel across from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station is a great launching spot for seeing New York. You can get to anywhere from there and then rest in a semi-luxurious and comfortable room after your hard day of sightseeing.”

• I only had to walk 4 block to a business meeting.
• Room was freezing cold; heating system was outdated.

“I was unfamiliar with the Affinia Hotel. What a total disappointment. It felt cheap. The rooms were old; the heating system was older and it was freezing cold. They brought a portable heater but it could not get warm enough. The view was horrendous.”

• It was like a spacious NYC apartment. Wonderful staff and location.
• Noisy - next to a fire station and Church that had bell chiming!

“We had a wonderful stay at the Affinia Hotel. I was so pleasantly surprised that it was a suite hotel, complete with living room and kitchen. The staff was wonderfully accommodating and helpful. It was ultra-comfortable. The location was perfect - right near the Empire State Building and Penn Station.”

“We would definitely stay at the Affinia Manhattan again. The perfect location (right in the middle of Manhattan and across the street from Penn station). The best thing about the hotel is the size of the rooms. You get a large sitting area with a fold out couch and a full size kitchen! Loved it!”
