“ I went on a trip with 3 of my friends for my birthday weekend. The room was ready early at 1 pm. Quiet New York area. A bit far away from the subway so you might as well take a cab. Small lobby but the staff was friendly even though they were busy. My room was upgraded, which is a nice surprise. The room was spacious with a kitchenette, dining area, seating area, queen bed and bathroom. The room had a hint of a funny smell like stuffy smoke. My guests did not notice and after a while I didn't notice so it wasn't a huge problem. The room was pretty clean but my guests said their was a garbage in their trash and a bottle cap behind their couch. For the price overall acceptable and good deal. ” Jan 7, 2010 by

“Great hotel if you do not want to spend too much. I understand most hotel rooms in Manhattan are tiny, which was not the case here.” Dec 6, 2009 by
Victoria from New York,NY
“I've stayed in converted apartment buildings in Manhattan before. This one by far was the worst. Dumpy bathroom and room. terrible bed and bedding. There was just nothing I liked at all about this place.” Dec 3, 2009 by
Sunny from Miami,FL
“The price was right for the location and everything was just a short walk away, eg restaurants, drug store, etc.” Nov 30, 2009 by
Justin. from Albany,WI
“Fun place located right where you want to be. Nov 25, 2009 by

“The room at this hotel was the biggest and most specious hotel room I have ever stayed. The kitchen was bigger than the one at my apartment! The beds were new, and living room was very spacious and the bathroom were well kept. The staff was there whenever I needed and everything exceeded my expectations.” Nov 19, 2009 by
Jay from Amarillo,TX
“The Eastgate Tower Hotel is dank.” Oct 28, 2009 by
John from Weldon Spring,MO
“. No public areas except a very tiny lobby. Not what you would expect for $160 per night.” Oct 22, 2009 by
Jana from Pearland,TX
“It was fine for what we needed, but I was frustrated that I could not select my room type before arrival. We almost had to pay an additional $30/night for a rollaway bed since we were traveling with our daughter and the room only had 1 bed in it. The hotel agreed to waive the charge and could not understand why we were not allowed to reserve the room type ahead of time.” Oct 5, 2009 by
Victor from Toronto,Canada
“The Eastgate tower is simple, efficient and practical. The service courteous and helpful. While the lobby is spare and the rooms a little dated - the room, kitchenette and bathroom was clean and maintained. Good value.” Jun 7, 2009 by
Tim from Souderton,PA
“Rooms are huge, and would be great if they spent some money upgrading the furniture and carpets.” Mar 2, 2009 by
Mari from Morrisville,PA
“Wonderful stay. Large, clean rooms. Comfy bed. Very friendly staff. Convenient location.” Jan 27, 2009 by
Sue from Summit,NJ
“I was there with a large group, and the 2 bedroom suite was more than enough room. It is in a quieter area of NYC, but an easy walk to many locations.” Dec 4, 2008 by
Deanine from Culver City,CA
“We stayed in a one bedroom with a full kitchen over Thanksgiving. It was great. I was able to cook a complete Thanksgiving dinner. They even provided an extension for the large round table, which then set 6 comfortably. It was like having your own apartment in New York on the 24th floor!” Oct 3, 2008 by

“Restaurant was closed for construction, but neighborhood was good for food. Lobby too small for the number of guests. Rooms were ok. Rooms were more like a normal holiday inn room. Location is good for east side access. Hotel people friendly and helpful. Hall on our floor was dark, looked dirty (but probably because poorly light) and had stale smells, not good as you go for your room. Next time, prefer to pay a bit more and stay at a better hotel. Ok for budget tourists and single business person on a budget, but not me. I expected more.” Sep 24, 2008 by

“This hotel is very convenient for us. And the room is also very big, the furniture is kind of old though.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Gabriela from Albuquerque, NM
“It was a drab, dark hotel, which I did not feel was worth. The location was good; however, and the front desk staff that attended us were all helpful and friendly.” Aug 22, 2008 by
Cathy from New Hartford, NY
“Loved all the room in this hotel, for the price its a good value in NYC.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Jason from Ottawa, ON CA
“Great price and great location. I would definitely stay there again.” Aug 3, 2008 by
Trisha from Tequesta, FL
“For my purpose in New York City, hotel locations was great, centrally located. Very helpful staff. Room was an efficiency apt. Extra room great. However, the hotel was in need of renovations. Dated furniture and the bed was very hard and uncomfortable for me.” Aug 1, 2008 by
Pjay from Bartlett, TN
“Location was far from subway, but nice quite neighborhood of Murray Hill. A couple of blocks from Grand Central Station, but not close enough to Subway if you've been walking all day. This place is in desperate need of renovations. Business would probably be better if the facilities were a little more modern. Apparently this building used to be an apartment building, so the rooms, as a hotel, are quite roomy. I would not stay here again unless the stay was free.” Jul 24, 2008 by
Brett from Phoenix, AZ
“Bathroom was to small, the room smelled like an ashtray, the fridge was very convenient but was working just ok, the restaurant was closed.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Cynthia from Kenner, LA
“Pleasant and efficient staff. Bathroom linens very fresh and enough were in the room for guests use without having to call for additional ones.” Jun 2, 2008 by
Faye from Spokane, WA
“The location was good, nice and quiet. A brisk 20 minute walk to Time Square. The staff was great and our 1 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath suite landed us to plenty of space to spread out and relax. Having a microwave and refrigerator was a real treat and bonus!” Jun 2, 2008 by
Ada from Clinton, MD
“The East gate Tower is one of the best kept secrets in New York. It is accessible to some of the main attractions in New York. The staff is friendly and ensures that your trip is a pleasant experience. When the Front Desk attendant told me to enjoy my SUITE I thought she was mistaken. When I got to my room, I was surprised that I did have a suite with 2 queen beds, 2 bathrooms, full living room, dining area a kitchen. What a pleasant surprise! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone travel to NY for business or pleasure.” May 31, 2008 by
Alisa from Sacramento, CA
“This is a great value in lower Manhattan. It is no-frills, but the rooms are large and the staff is excellent. It is also very convenient to Grand Central if you plan to use the subway. Relatively quiet, as well.” May 27, 2008 by
Melisa from Mesa, AZ
“Great location, great staff, large rooms with kitchen. The restaurant was closed for remodeling while we were there, but they referred us to a corner restaurant, which was delicious. I would definitely stay there again!” May 26, 2008 by
Mark from Walnut Creek, CA
“The hotel is not clean. This is the first and most important issue. The hallways were dirty and smoky smelling. There may have been cursory vacuuming, but move one piece of furniture and you can see years worth of dust, a half consumed lollipop, a pen. This was bad. I should at least be able to expect Cleanliness.” May 19, 2008 by
Marcy from Chestnut Hill, MA
“Great location, courteous help, good little kitchens but the hotel needs to be renovated!” May 13, 2008 by
Wei from Stow, MA
“Overall, very good hotel to stay in Manhattan.” May 12, 2008 by
Mary from Nashville, TN
“Decent, basic accommodation for budget travelers. Kitchenette is a plus. Room smelled of old cigarettes so the hotel has not done a thorough cleaning or refurb since the city-wide smoking ban was imposed. Surprisingly quiet for NY. Fee DVD players available on request. We thought it would be a bit too out-of-the-way but it turned out to be an easy 3-block walk to the Subway.” May 4, 2008 by
Eva
“People were very friendly and the room was large. Good facilities to eat on the room (kitchenette). Furniture a little worn out, but clean and employees told us, that renovation is in progress. So in total, we can recommend it.” Apr 17, 2008 by
Randy
“Okay, room could be updated with new furniture, carpet, bed. etc.” Jan 7, 2008 by
John
“This place is great. A short walk from Grand Central - comfortable and quiet. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. I would submit that this is mainly a tourist or long term hotel. The kitchen allows you to save some money but that was not something we made use of during our stay. A+.” Dec 25, 2007 by
Sherry
“This was a great hotel for the money - asset of the spacious rooms and great location. It was also great that it is located in a neighborhood. I would definitely stay there again. I traveled to New York to sight see and do some Christmas shopping. I loved the location and the great service by the staff at the hotel.” Dec 18, 2007 by
Debbie
“Good location and for New York the room was a good size. However in need of remodeling badly and for sure they need new beds, hard as a rock and horrible pillows.” Dec 5, 2007 by
Cookie
“Good location and no frills setting. Would be good for families who can take advantage of kitchenette. Very helpful staff.” Apr 18, 2006 by
Sari from Riverwoods, IL
“This hotel is a great value and very family friendly. We got a one-bedroom suite for the same cost as a regular hotel room at a one of the large chains. Although it is an older building, it is clean with a very friendly and helpful staff. We'd definitely stay here again!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
