• Not a 4 star hotel.

“The wallpaper was badly stained as well as the shower curtain (there was even dirt or something on the light switch and switch plate). Door was almost impossible to get to open with the key card. Door handle leading into the bathroom was coming off. The room was simply not 4 stars! It appeared to be about a 2.5 maybe a 3 to someone else. I have stayed at many 4 star hotels across the country and this is not one of them!”

• The location is just off Broadway in the middle of everything.
• The room was a little bit small.

“This hotel far exceeded my expectations. We were within a stones throw with a perfect location. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by friendly staff. The doormen were great with tips, recommendations, and directions. While checking in, I asked for a room that had a good view of Times Square and the availability of a king bed. The desk agent upgraded us to a king and because it was a birthday trip, provided us with a bump from the 16th floor to the 42nd. Very, very nice! I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and the room. Looking forward to another stay there.”

• Very nice location and view from the 44th floor down to Time square.
• Broken TV, broken tub switch in bathroom, broken light switch. Insufficient maintenance of the room!

“The general quality is good, but I guess they fired the entire maintenance team 1 year ago. This means a lot of stuff was either broken or almost broken. This is not acceptable for a 4-star hotel. Anyway, the view is really very nice. Time square is directly at your feet.”

• We had some requests about how we wanted our bed made and they complied, every night for 10 nights. The housekeeper was very attentive.
• Don't believe the in-room directory information about phone rates. They charge about 500% more than what is written there!

• Location for the theater was very good and the air conditioning was great. Also, the room was very quiet.
• The lobby was a little too sterile for my taste. Needed more warmth.

“All in all, it was a good visit. We only stayed one night and for our purposes the hotel was fine. I personally like a smaller more intimate hotel with a little more warmth.”

• Told room was recently renovated; did not seem it.

“Disappointed with the room. Told the room had been recently renovated. Desk missing middle drawer, bedside table was old, refrigerator with inside ripped out, trash barrel had paint splatters (yet walls were all marked up and didn't look freshly painted). Maid cleaned our room but left no clean towels. I find a coffee maker standard with a 4 star hotel, but this room had none. Was not impressed, but it was a place to sleep.”

“Nice decor, although the upkeep of the overall hotel seemed a little lax. An example of this was the AC in the room that ran constantly yet the room remained humid throughout the stay. There is no self-serve business center where you can get high speed internet or print from your laptop which is a negative.”

• With 2 kids in tow, they only offered 2 twins, a queen or king bed.

“We were very disappointed with the sleeping arrangements. Whoever heard of a hotel that didn't offer two double beds in a room? The closest you could get to that was 2 twins. We ended up sleeping in a king bed with our 15 year old daughter and our 18 year old son slept on the floor. The location was great.”

• There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. We were given twin beds instead of king size. My bed was too small for me (6ft., 4in., 240lbs.). My bed broke!
• My bed constantly fell through the bed frame! We asked for an upgrade or possibly for MOMA tickets but received nothing complimentary.

“The first impression is beautiful once entering the lobby. The carpeting in our room was dirty and aged. My bed was terrible! Oh, the maids did not leave wash cloths our final night. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom 2.5 stars.”

“The location was excellent, right off of Times Square on a nice street. Close to all Broadway shows. The hotel rooms were comparable to the Times Square Hilton, whose rates are double the price. The lobby of the Millenium and the Restaurant are much nicer than the Hilton. Having said that, the Hilton is vastly overpriced!”

• The location was good, safe and close to the attractions we wanted to visit.
• The staff was very unfriendly and the room fell way below expectations for the star rating.

“The hotel was in a great location right in Times Square and was acceptable. The star rating on this hotel is exaggerated. Although it is quite large and has a great entry way I found the staff to be very unfriendly and the room fell very far below expectations. It was extremely small and uncomfortable. Not to mention the hotel didn't even offer small amenities such as a coffee pot or functioning hair dryer like other smaller hotels.”

“Nice hotel, Rooms were average. I needed a two full bed rooms but the had only smoking rooms available. I ended up changing rooms to a king size with a roll away bed. which was a little tight for the room. The personnel was extremely friendly.”

• Cannot book a room with two double beds. Carpet stained.

“This hotel would have been better if they had rooms with two double beds. I was traveling with my two older children and the only thing we were offered was two twin beds or a king size bed. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. Held our luggage on the last day so that we were able to attend a Broadway show unencumbered.”

“Hotel staff not very friendly at all. Bed was uncomfortable. Thin sheet and sheet like bedspread. It was terrible. Never received any wash cloths. Room was clean but this doesn't compare to the Hilton on Avenues of American. I would not stay here again.”

• The front desk staff could have been friendlier.

“Hotel room was very clean. View of Times Square. Everything within walking distance (Time Square is right outside the doors and central park is a 15 minute walk). The concierge was helpful, but the front desk staff could have been friendlier. The shower was great (important to me), and the bed was comfortable. Very nice temperature in the room. You could control the temp very well. No free wi-fi in the hotel. You need to pay $12/day for wired access. Overall, the location made this worth every penny.”

• The location and the rooms have been updated.
• This hotel does not offer double beds - so when traveling with three or four people you can't stay in the same room comfortably.

“This hotel is ideally located to all of the happenings in Times Square. The staff is professional and most are friendly. I would like to see the hotel offer double beds in some of the rooms so that three to four people could share the same room (very helpful with a family of four).”

• The location of this hotel is phenomenal. The view is to die for. Small room but very neat.
• The shower was kind of old and dirty. The room was small.

• There was no one at the desk when I arrived to check in. Two lines were already formed and we waited for several minutes to have someone come out.

• Hotel charges for phone, room service, typical of New York City.

“This hotel is in a great location, most of the staff very cordial. Their dining facilities leave a lot to be desired. Costs for using the phone for long distance were beyond belief. However, when I pointed this out to staff when checking out the bill was immediately adjusted. Bottom line, don't touch the mini bar, don't use the phone, don't eat in the hotel.”

• The hotel charge us extra tax for our stay which I have no idea why. Also the first room they gave us smells like the NY subway sewer.

• The shower stunk. Poor shower head.

“We had a great stay. The room and bed were very comfortable and clean. Had a light bulb out but housekeeping took care of it immediately. Shower head needed replacing but we didn't say anything about it to anyone. All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Especially the doormen and the concierge.”

• Great location, friendly staff, large room (especially by New York standards), nice quality, beautiful lobby, etc.
• Room could have used some paint, and they should offer rooms with two double or queen beds.

“The hotel was beautiful and in the perfect location. We expected a small room since we were staying in New York City, but were very surprised when we opened the door. It was a large room with a king-size bed, two chairs, ottoman, dresser, desk, etc. The bathroom was large with a beautiful marble vanity. We were in Times Square, but not right on the main strip. We could walk out the door and be in the heart of everything in less than a minute or head north to Central Park, shopping, and museums and be there in about 15 minutes. The staff was friendly and our room was actually ready when we arrived at 9:00 a.m. Overall, a great stay!”

• The bed was great; the room was small but clean; I would stay there anytime; the location is ideal for mid-town business and shows.
• The ice maker did not work on my floor and the coffee wasn't great.

“The Millennium Broadway Hotel is a perfect home-base for a weekend visit to New York. It's conveniently located between 44th and 45th street in midtown which makes it the perfect starting point to venture off sightseeing in any direction. And after returning from a day on the town it's an easy walk to the best restaurants and theaters.”

• Lobby was beautiful. Location was great.
• Service was slow at restaurant.

“I have stayed here before on business, so I knew that the hotel was "solid". My kids and their babysitter were impressed as was I. Rooms were very clean, tastefully decorated and we had a great view of the Chrysler building. I would always be happy to stay there.”

• This hotel offered a very good location and friendly, knowledgeable service.
• I have been to many hotels in nick and have to say this hotel does not deserve the star rating it has. Not clean.

“If you are looking for a good location and good service this hotel have both. However, it should not be rated a four-star hotel by no stretch of the imagination. Room was not especially clean and I was expecting a bit more for a four-star hotel, especially when you consider other four-star hotels in Manhattan.”
