  • The lobby and indoor swimming pool.
  • The hotel is an older one and is now beginning to show its age. I knew it in its former life when it was a Hilton and a H-I Select.

“The staff was friendly and when the whole hotel awoke on Saturday morning with no hot water, the problem was fixed within the hour. There is a nightclub off the lobby, Johnny Bull's Imbibery, which caters to the Lynchburg folk and clogs up the parking lot, so guests have to park in the back if they have been out and are returning. On a positive note, the room was comfortable and clean and the hotel was in a convenient area.”

“The exterior and public places looked very nice but interior of the rooms need updating. It looks as if they updated the bathrooms but the carpeting and bedding, curtains need to be replaced. Smell musty and dusty.”

“This is a very dated hotel that was abandoned by Sheraton, the original operator. It has not been renovated and not well maintained. Facilities are in disrepair, dirty, non-functional. Need lots of work to be considered a quality 2-star hotel. Definitely not a three or four star facility.”

“The hotel was nothing special but was fine for our purposes. We were there one night, arrived late and left early. We were happy with the price. We were given a non-smoking room even though I understand that is not quarantined.”

  • There was a strong musty, moldy smell that would not go away.

“Hotel staff were nice, location great, but our room was not very clean. The loveseat had food and stains all over it. The room had a nasty smell that wouldn't go away. There was a big bug crawling up the wall. When we turned the air conditioner on it worked for about an hour and then was frozen up. This hotel is ok but not a 3 star.”

  • The whirlpool and sauna were nice amenities.
  • No business center/hotel is old and shows wear and tear reference the maintenance and upkeep and staff not customer service orientated.

“Hotel is old and showing very visible signs of wear and tear. Generally staff at hotel are not overly customer friendly. I can see why this establishment is no longer a national chain. It was the Radisson at one time and I can see that it hasn't been up kept and maintained well and I can see why a national brand wouldn't want this building branded with their name.”

  • Pool it self was nice.
  • Spa and pool area in poor shape.

“Room was dirty. Cat food room ants underneath beds. Room furniture was stained. Overall this hotel is in need of a major update. There is no way this is a 3 star hotel. After the night here, I traveled on to a 2.5 star Marriott Courtyard in Charlottesville and it was flawless. I have asked this question before, but who does the ratings for these hotels?”

  • No vanity outside of bathroom, asked for replacement pillow case & they never brought it, ignored at checkout by 2 employees, 3rd came out to help.

  • The internet would not connect very often and then kicked me off.

“The lobby and restaurants are clean and very nice. The room was fairly old and dated. Tub didn't drain, internet was difficult to use, the TV was small and the remote did not work very well. Small bed (Full Size) I usually get a king bed. There was a musty odor in the room as well.”

  • Restaurant had a nice continental breakfast buffet, although not included in the room rate. Staff was friendly.
  • Overhead light in the bathroom flickered and was dim. Although we reported it on the first day of our stay, it was never repaired while we were there.

“We walked in quite late and were not prepared for the bar crowd exiting through the rather worn lobby. The room, which we phoned ahead to confirm, was available and far away from the initial impression seen in the lobby. The room was pleasant although worn. Did not try the restaurant.”

  • Desk clerk told a relative that I should have checked out - not registered. I had a receipt showing two more days.

  • Many things were not ready for us as travelers.

“When I called to confirm our rooms the lady on the phone had no idea what our rooms were supposed to be. When we checked in they gave us our key but entering the room, it was not cleaned (at 6:45 pm.) after calling the front desk and moving our items into another room we reserved the cleaning staff took care of our room while we went out for dinner. At night the air conditioner buzzed loudly, but when we informed the front desk about problem and requested a refrigerator in our room the problems were fixed by the time we were done shopping. Staff worked well with all problems but could have prevented many problems by doing what other hotels do automatically.”

“The only negative is that the rooms were only SLIGHTLY dated. Also, it is probably more like a 3 star than 3.5 star. The lobby was really nice and extremely professional looking. Dont believe all the negatives you read on other reviews. I was hesitant to book a room after reading some horror stories; however, my wife and I enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again, especially for the price.”

“The hotel is nice, it has a great, comfortable, nicely done restaurant and a bar next to it. Both are good, however, the bar still allows smoking and we have lived in a non-smoking town for some time now. That is a turn-off. All in all, it was very nice.”

  • Very poorly maintained. Pool area tiles were falling apart. Hot tub was dirty, stinky and did not work. Pool water freezing.

“Under different management this hotel could be great. We were very disappointed. The pool area was dirty, tiles were missing and falling apart, pool was freezing, and hot tub was so stinky. I'm so glad we did not have our kids with us because I would not let them swim there! Everything was outdated and old. The rooms were decent, but you could hear through the walls! Not even close to a 3 star, maybe a 2 if some minor renovations were done.”

  • Pool -feces in it; windows -dirty; TV small, doesn't display channel, cheap channel changer, lights- very dim in room.

“The staff was very nice. The facility was a different story. The pool had hair and feces in it, the whirlpool had scum around the edges, the windows were dirty, the TV was small and did not display the channel and it had a very cheap channel changer so we did not know what channel we were watching to name a few things. This hotel should not be rated 3 to 5 star.”

  • Parking lot wasn't crowded and I know why. Only thing I liked was leaving.
  • I hated everything about the place.

“The musty smell in the lobby was the first thing I noticed. Bathrooms are small and shabby, rooms have old fixtures that need replacing, the beds were to small for 2 people and this hotel needs to be refurbished real quick. To top it off, the morning I checked out, there was someone asleep in the lobby on our floor on the couch by the elevator. I would never stay here again!”

  • Lobby is a bit small and pool/ hot tub are visible from lobby. The window in room was unlocked and off track when we arrived.

“This is a small to medium hotel with well sized rooms and decent amenities. Small touches of it's former grandeur can still be seen in the marble window ledges in the rooms and the door stickers identifying it as the "Lynchburg Hilton", but they belie its currently somewhat rundown state. There are many things I saw which could use some repair; several wall mounted heating units in halls visibly need attention, unfinished repairs in our room such as small holes that were plastered but not sanded and painted as well as a replaced but unpainted piece of floor molding and another small piece missing, and the bathrooms seriously need an upgrade. However, there were many nice touches such as the basket of apples and bananas constantly refreshed on the front desk and a laptop and printer for guest use in the small lobby. The room we had was basically furnished and the TV was a bit small and old, but the room was spacious and comfortable. We did notice several rooms near ours that have obviously been remodeled with newer furnishing and looked much nicer. Perhaps it was because we had a dog with us, which they were quite friendly and accomodating about as long as we paid the extra fee. We overheard the bellman telling friends that management is trying hard to fix the place up and get a lot of needed maintenance done. If they are able to do so and can upgrade the linens and some furnishings as well as provide the mini-fridges and/or microwaves they now charge extra for, this would be a great place and much more in line with the published rates on it's website. We really like this hotel and will stay there again because of it's location close to Lynchburg College, shopping, and the interstate as well as their dog friendly attitude and polices and space outside to run the dog.”

  • Very large rooms and nice staff.
  • Pool area needs some repair of tile and Jacuzzi is dated.

“My stay was very enjoyable. You can tell that this is an older hotel in need of some updating, but overall it is well kept and clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would defiantly stay here again.”
