• The atmosphere was extremely calming and luxurious, enjoyed just walking into the lobby.
• No free complimentary breakfast.

“I felt I got more than my money's worth. I would recommend it to anyone and would go there again. My grand children really enjoyed the pool and my mother could not believe how nice the place was.”

• Although dated in many respects the hotel room was decorated nicely.
• 3 hr wait for internet connection, long hairs in tub, back door code not given

“Overall a disappointment: I was assured that I would be helped with my internet connection and waited 3 hours (shift change with no follow up and I missed an e-meeting for work), when I drew a bath there was a huge chunck of long hairs floating around in the water, there were no top sheets between the feather blanket and my body, and the back door had an old fashioned code lock which I was given the wrong code twice.”

• Nice pool and spa area. Nice lobby.
• Our room was not nearly as nice as we expected.

“We thought this hotel was OK. The bed was uncomfortable, my daughter hurt her foot in the crib they provided, and we could hear people through the walls which kept us up at night. Nice TV and decor in the lobby. Nice pool and spa.”

• Clean, great/safe location and friendly staff.

“I've stayed here at least a 1/2 dozen times and I've never had an issue staying at the Kirkley. It is one of the best hotels and the best values I've ever run across. It's always clean, the staff is always friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.”

• Hotel lobby was beautiful and upscale.
• Wallpaper was coming down in the bathroom and outside of hotel needs to be updated.

“The hotel was excellent. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. Housekeeping was great. I will be recommending this hotel to my friends. Hope I get to stay here again.”

• The inside was beautiful and very well decorated. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
• The exterior of the hotel could use a little TLC, but don't be fooled - the inside is wonderful.

“The Kirkley is very conveniently located. I had never been to Lynchburg before, but it was still very easy to find. It is very close to (right across the street) from several good restaurants. The inside is very nice, and the rooms are very spacious.”

• The cleanliness of the room, hot water.
• No real business center. Laptop they had was
  too slow.

“The hotel itself is in a great location across a mall and next to I29 near Liberty University. The Jacuzzi wasn't working at the time and there was no real business center. They had the laptop out in the lobby where people could see what I was surfing, plus the connection was too slow. The hotel has gone some renovation, but it still has that 80s popcorn ceiling and it looked like there was a leak on my floor the 5th.”

• Close to my destination.
• It was dirty, musty & roof was leaking & floor was wet.

“The sheets and blanket on the bed was ripped. The hotel was musty. The roof was leaking and the carpet was wet. When I told the front desk, they told me that they knew and maintenance had been called. Yet, no signs were posted to warn of the wet carpet. I didn't see fans out in an attempt to dry it. I had stayed at the hotel years ago and was considering using it to host and event, but I will not consider it now.”

• Very friendly staff, service was good.
• There was hair in the bathroom and staff had to reclean shower and tub.

“Room was comfortable, however TV was very small and reception not as good as it should have been. The staff on duty was very helpful in attempting to make our visit pleasant. Bathroom had to be cleaned after our arrival. Someone had overlooked hair in the shower and on the bathroom floor.”

• Nice lobby, and artwork throughout the hotel was very nice.
• Bathrooms are small.

“This was a nice enough hotel for our purposes. One of the rooms we got had a leak in the ceiling. The desk had been moved into the middle of the room, the carpet was wet and there was a trashcan catching the drip. They moved us to another room, but I'm not sure why that room was being offered. The lobby area tends to be a bit noisy on weekend nights.”

• The shuttle will take you anywhere in Lynchburg. On site restaurant had buffet Breakfast.
• The Jacuzzi was not at all inviting. The pool area had a mild smell of moldy carpet.

“For the price, this was adequate for our stay in Lynchburg. This is definitely an older hotel that needs some updating. However, the staff was friendly and accommodating and the rooms were clean.”

• Bathroom was in really bad shape.

“Our curtains would not close, room with 2 double beds (we're a married couple), the bed linens did not stay on the bed at all and the bathroom counter was falling apart. There was debris on the bathroom floor from the crumbling counter and the bathroom fan did not work at all. Light bulbs in the lamps were burnt out. I won't be going back.”

“I stayed only one night, found the hotel to be of quality, priced accordingly and central to retail and restaurants. It was somewhat difficult negotiating the entrance from the highway, overall a pleasant experience and would stay there again.”

• Staff in restaurant questionable bill, added stuff that were really sly.

“The room was great and the front desk also as for the restaurant was not good. The bill was very questionable and had to be redone because of other fees that they could not explain and ended up removing, but if we would not pay attention this would not have been done---in the tune of $35.00 over billed.”

• The location was great for my trip.
• There wasn't any shower caps and the check in personnel wasn't friendly at all.

“I think that the rooms had a scent of animals and that pet friendly is okay for some people, but not all. Maybe they should have specific rooms for customers with pets. Some people have allergies to animals. Also there wasn't any kind of free breakfast or continental breakfast such as the Sleep Inn and other hotels in the area.”

• The hotel was centrally located, which made it easy to get around to places we needed.
• Parking lot needed more or better lighting at night.

“The hotel was very nice and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The only negative thing was the hotel smelled of smoke even in the non-smoking rooms by morning. Believe this is from the hotel bar that was pretty packed the night before.”

• Very unclean. The beds were undersized and linens old. We couldn't get extra wash clothes.

“We are very unhappy with our stay. Smoke drifted form the bar lobby. We requested extra towels and was clothes and they were not brought. The wall paper was coming off and the bathroom grout was mildewed and have cracks. This place was pitiful.”

• The desk staff was more customer-friendly than ANYWHERE I have patronized lately.
• My room was described as "non-smoking", but smelled like a "smoking" room.

“Only good thing I can say is the entrance and lobby area is well keep that was all. The indoor pool had mold growing, looked at the shower and sauna, no way was I going in. Told staff about what we saw, they were not concerned about it. Even had an incident were a possible maintenance man came to our door. My daughter answered, it appeared as if he was trying to see if she was alone in the room, dont really know when he heard my wife he left immediately. Never identified him or nothing. Called down to report it to the desk.”

• Room looked 200 years old.

“The outside of the hotel and lobby were nice, but upon checking into the room, it was not on the same par. furniture was stained and dirty, small TV on a roll out cart was in the room, room smelled of smoke even though it was non smoking, was not very clean, AC did not work in room.”

• It was in Lynchburg and close to major attractions and activities, fairly easy to get to.
• We ended up with a smoking room. Did not like this at all.

“Hotel and service were very good. We were well pleased. Our only problem was that we were not offered a non-smoking room at the hotel and this lessened the positive experience considerably.”

• The lobby and indoor swimming pool.
• The hotel is an older one and is now beginning to show its age. I knew it in its former life when it was a Hilton and a H-I Select.

“The staff was friendly and when the whole hotel awoke on Saturday morning with no hot water, the problem was fixed within the hour. There is a nightclub off the lobby, Johnny Bull's Imbibery, which caters to the Lynchburg folk and clogs up the parking lot, so guests have to park in the back if they have been out and are returning. On a positive note, the room was comfortable and clean and the hotel was in a convenient area.”
