• It was VERY clean and I was happy with everything about my stay!
• The TV was outdated or maybe I am just spoiled with HDTV.

• Staff attentive, hotel clean and cozy.
• Only thing open on Sunday afternoon and evening was bar with bar food. Nothing healthy to eat.

“When we called the motel to check on our room they said we had a 2 double beds non smoking. When we got there they only had 1 king size and charged us an upgrade cost.”

• Public areas spacious and clean - staff professional and friendly.
• Parking garage spaces are so tight only compact cars can get doors open without banging another vehicle.

“Lobby and public areas all very spacious and clean. Staff very accommodating. Rooms however did not match expectation levels, seemed small and tub in bathroom took 20 minutes to drain. No premium cable network channels at all - even only 1 would have been nice. Overall nice hotel.”

• The location was great for what we had planned.

• The vending machines on my floor didn't work.

• Friendly staff, very nice room for the money, convenient parking across the street.

“Very nice hotel. Would definitely stay here again. Lots to do downtown. Plenty of fun bars nearby and restaurants. Appleton is smoke free too, which was a huge plus for us.”

• It is in the heart of Downtown within walking distance of great restaurants, bars, and clubs.
• Some parts of the hotel felt a little old, the lobby, and the elevators specifically.

• Walking distance to Lawrence University, fair rates, discount to Lawrence families.
• Unfriendly staff, pay for parking, shops/restaurants keep odd hours.

“I chose this hotel due to the close proximity of Lawrence University. Waiting in line to check in took long - about 20 minutes to get waited on. More check in staff needed. Don't expect friendly smiles from staff. The guests are friendlier than any staff members we ran into. The woman working the concierge lounge was rude. She ignored my daughter and I, would not even make eye contact. We helped ourselves once and never went back. This woman seemed to be more interested in yucking it up with the male business travelers. My overall impression is that this hotel caters to the business traveler, not the family forced to stay there. The room was clean enough, I have no complaints about it other than it is dated. The shops and restaurants do not seem to stay open very long. It is hit or miss to find something open. Luckily, you have other choices on College Ave. You have to pay for parking in a covered garage across the street. Doesn't feel too safe at night. The good is that this hotel is within walking distance to Lawrence University, so if that is important to you, give it a try. I do not look forward to staying at this Radisson again, but choices are slim if you are looking for a hotel within walking distance to Lawrence. At least this time we know what to expect.”

• The location is right in the heart of Appleton.
• Showing its age however is in the process of renovation.

“We have stayed here many times but the hotel is really showing its age. Great news is the Radisson is in the process of renovation and in a couple of months will again live up to the Radisson reputation.”

“Our first room was an adjoined room that looked like it had not been updated in 20 years. The decor was dingy and lacking. No pictures even on the wall. Our adjourned neighbors need only whisper for us to hear them. I called the front desk and I will say they were accommodating in finding us a better room. We ended up in the small section of the hotel that had endured an overhaul. It had nice pictures and decor and viewed the park. If you are staying here - ask for an updated room. Other things to note. We received no wake up call. "Check out is at 12, they said. But I had pre-arranged 1 pm through their reservation system! It was a pull down menu! All and all it was disappointing only its appearance and slight lack in service. Most the employees were very nice. It just does not deserve a 3-star rating at this time. At the time we stayed, only the upgraded rooms had the Sleep Number beds that are usually standard in most Radissons by now.”

• Outstanding Lombardi restaurant inside the hotel.
• The bathroom fixtures, especially the toilet needs updating. Probably 30 40 years old.

“My second stay was better than my first, but this hotel is in serious need of an overhaul. If it were 1983, this place would be great. Problem is, the last 24 years havent seen any major changes to style, comfort or decor.”

“I left a baseball cap in my room (sentimental value). Called back to the hotel within the day to retrieve my cap. Was told they didn't find it, though I remembered where I had put it. No service, not a great staff.”

• The media room with access to computer and printer.
• Furniture in room looked dumpy and beat up.

“The lobby was very nice. The room had dumpy beat up furniture with a knob missing on the dresser with the screw sticking out. This was particularly unsafe having my 2 young grandchildren with me. We did enjoy the pool, which had a very comfortable water temperature. The room was comfortable but not very appealing.”

• Great location in center of downtown.
• Exceeding poor room quality mold in vents, damaged furniture, dated bedding, old beds.

“If you stay here don't expect three star rooms, food, or comforts. Expect the proximity to downtown to be the only bright spot in your business stay. I expected a lot more, but I had to change rooms three times during my five night stay. Room 1: smelly, damaged furniture, small, room 2: bigger, brighter, but black mold on air vents directly over bed, room 3: same as room #2 but no visible mold. They are supposedly undergoing a multi million dollar renovation, but the main area of rooms is still stuck in the 1980s. The halls are dingy and artless. The comforters are thread bare, rough, and required stripping off the bed and me calling to get extra blankets. The room service menu is laden with large hidden charges in very small print. The hotel's breakfast was generous and pretty good. The sports bar in the lobby was clean and reasonably well staffed. The menu at Lombardis steakhouse made me gasp as far as prices, however. Even compared to Ruths Chris or Mortons steakhouse this place was on the high side. I will give it a try in my coming months consulting here in Appleton and add additional detail as to quality and value when possible. Bottom line is that I was completely disappointed with my stay and wished after the first night that I could escape this dated, dingy and uncomfortable hotel. At least the deep (nearly 7 feet deep) pool was nice.”

• Got two double beds, thought I was getting queen

“This is a great place to stay if you are going to the Performing Arts Center. I was expecting a 3 star hotel to be a bit fancier, but the rooms and pool area are kind of run down and nothing special.”

• The common areas of hotel are very nice.
• I had to pay an additional $50 to get a non smoking room with double bed otherwise we would have had a smoking room which staff admitted stunk.

“They are in the process of redoing all the rooms in this hotel and there will be no smoking rooms but I feel like I was a bit taken advantage of. I requested a non smoking room with double beds. I was told unless we paid an additional $50 we would get a smoking room with a king bed and staff admitted that smoking rooms smelled quite bad. I bad the additional $50. Our room was nice, location excellent, and common areas of hotel very nice. Other than making me pay more, the hotel was very nice.”

• The staff was helpful and available.
• This downtown hotel is completely unsuited for family vacationers.

“This hotel is downtown and has many nice public spaces for meetings and meals, but it is a terrible choice for the family traveler who wants easy access to highways and airports, parking within reasonable distance, and a nice room rather than a nice lobby. At the Radisson, you must use a public parking structure that seemed to be a half mile from our room. We had to pay $1-2 every time we stopped at the hotel and did not feel safe leaving anything in the car while parked. The room itself was what you'd expect from a Coolidge. Very basic, very hot, no individual air conditioning, no opening window, no fridge, not much space, nothing special. We had no use for the luxuries offered in the lobby (star bucks, cafe, restaurant, a $16 brunch, and proximity to downtown shopping) that must give these place 3 stars. I wish there were a star system that rated according to actual rooms rather than these extraneous features. Other relatives stayed at the settle inn in the same town (Appleton, wig). Now, that one deserves 3 or 4 stars for the family traveler. They had a free breakfast, convenient free parking, were close to a highway exit, had a nice lounge to sit and talk to visitors and could cool their rooms to their preferences. It was gorgeous and ideal for families.”

• Nice lobby and cheap parking ($2.00).
• The room was very dirty and rundown. Cracked bathroom tile, a huge red stain on the tub that looked like nail polish (I was able to scratch it off).

“I was quite excited as I had always wanted to stay here but the hotel was nothing but a disappointment. We were given a room on a floor that was having room renovations done and it was very noisy. We were woken up by the workers in the adjoining rooms (loud) conversation). Our room was old and tired and had definitely seen better days. The furniture was chipped, the tile was cracked and our bed sheets weren't even tucked in (I had to make the bed).”

• Oversized room, close to restaurants, small park across the street, can walk places.
• Very poor soundproofing between rooms, smoking violations (no way to vent), windows don't open, street noise.

“Staff was accommodating and the room was large. Common areas were attractive with many restaurants/bars both in the hotel and within walking distance. The only problems that affected our enjoyment of the stay were very poor soundproofing between rooms, smoking violations, some street noise, & windows that didn't open.”

“The room was a smoking room. I know that was possible. I have stayed in hotels where we had to have a smoking room because that was all that was available. This by far was the worst room in that regards. It smelled like someone was chain smoking in the room while we were in there. There wasn't a cloud but the smell was there. You smelled like a bar when you left the room. The hotel did little to fix the problem.”

• Rooms were equipped with internet hookups.
• Rooms, especially bathrooms need renovation. Minimal elevators which were very slow.

“My room was next to rooms that wedding guests had. It was difficult to sleep because wedding attendees were slamming doors, using foul language. My room should not have been near these rooms in my opinion.”

• Nice accommodations.
• The only room we could get was a smoking room. we do not smoke and we had children with.

“I like the hotel in general. They acted like we were welfare cases and put us in smoking rooms and we did ask for a different room but they only had king non smoking. with 4 people a king bed was not sufficient.”

• Poor signage makes finding your room harder than it should be.

“Great location, within easy walking distance of Lawrence U. and many good restaurants in the center of town. Clean and a helpful staff. Great steakhouse in the hotel. Convenient connecting covered parking garage (no validation for hotel guests, but quite cheap). Directions off the various elevators to the rooms are inadequate. Hotel has some smoking rooms.”
