• Big, well laid out room; friendly staff.
• Noise from restaurant and pool area could be heard in room.

“The hotel itself is very nice. However, rooms on the inner side of the halls (like the one we stayed in) have old, thin windows that look out onto the pool and restaurant. It was a beautiful hotel. Much higher end than I would generally expect from a Best Western. Free and reliable high-speed Internet is becoming a rare treat which this hotel had.”

• The location was an easy 10-15minutes walk to the lower old town.

“We enjoyed our stay very much. Lots of great pubs and restaurants in the immediate area and an easy 15minutes walk to the lower old town. Our room was a great size and the bed was very comfortable.”

• Though the room was small, the location and shopping were very good.
• Love hot tubs but their's is not hot enough! Only disappointment.

• Location very good for New and Old City of Quebec.
• Nothing negative to report.

“My wife and I (in our early 60s) found this hotel to be in easy walking distance to the Old City, close to the cruise ship terminal for our eventual departure, and close to numerous amenities. There is a very good restaurant in the hotel, but 1/2 block away is a Van Houtte coffee outlet that also has full breakfasts, lunch etc. The staff at this Best Western could not have been friendlier and we received a newly refurbished room. We have noted comments - possibly on this site - that the rooms are small, but from memory, the basic rooms at a couple of the Fairmont chain are about the same size and 3 times more expensive! The bed was very comfortable, there was minimal outside traffic noise (with the window open all night) and the room was fully equipped with a new coffee maker, plus all the expected amenities (no fridge however). There were a number of pre-cruise guests staying at this hotel and everyone was pleased with the service, especially front desk and concierge. We did not use a rental car or our own vehicle, so cannot comment on the parking arrangement of valet-only parking nearby. Due to an error by our air miles reward provider, the paperwork was not correctly processed for the hotel to bill our travel miles redemption center. Again, a very helpful young lady at the front desk made the necessary telephone calls to our air miles company and had it all sorted out in a matter of 10 minutes or so. All-in-all a very pleasant stay in a wonderful hotel and city.”

• This hotel exceeded our expectations for an older Best Western.
• The room was a bit small, and the furniture (though nice) was over crowding the space.

“For the very low price we received, this hotel exceeded our expectations. Our room was clean, modern, and comfortable, if a bit small. Hotel spaces were nothing fancy, but they too were clean and up to date. Hotel staff was very accommodating in changing us to a room with two beds when originally we were booked into a King. Valet parking was pretty much the only option, but we found it convenient, and not too expensive ($18/day). The valet service was good. I would stay here again at the low price we received on Priceline. If paying more, I would choose to stay closer to Old Quebec.”

“Excellent hotel for the price. Parking is a little hectic in the downtown area. Valet parking is available for $20 including taxes for 24 hours. On my second night, I learned street parking is free from 9PM to 9AM and only $2/hr there after. Unless you are planning to leave your car on the streets for greater than 10 hours during business hours, the street parking might be a better way to go.”

• Close to bus stop.
• Distance to Old Town.

“We could not find a hotel within the wall (old town) within our budget. Therefore, we decided to stay this hotel, because it is relatively close to the city wall. We used a bus transportation every time (Line 801), because the street was so icy, and dangerous to hike. If you visit Quebec City not during snow season, the location is not bad. The carpet is so dirty, please do not take off your shoes in your room.”

• The restaurant seemed nice.
• Bad ventilation, no parking.

“Strange neighborhood, no parking, and the valet parking is expensive. First, they put me in a room for handicapped (with special toilet), come on! And with no ventilation, window locked. I asked another room, they gave me a cramped, super small and smelly room (not fresh and clean), I complained, the finally put me in a better room. The staff was always arguing with what I said. I will never go there again.”

• We were given a bigger room to accommodate stroller/playpen, upon request though.
• The first room we were assigned to was very small and facing the street, which is bad.

“The room size varies a lot, so be smart and ask for a bigger one if needed. And you can certainly find a cheap parking lot very close by (5$ per day for weekends), instead of paying $18 tax for the valet service.”

• No parking, valet cost $18/day.

“Overall, this was a nice hotel. We were given a room on the first floor. The only problem with that was the window was eye-level with passers-by on the street. The pool and Jacuzzi closed at 10 p.m. which is no good when you're out trying to enjoy the nightlife in Quebec and looking forward to a soak when you get home. The room was clean but small, but at the same time very functional. Coffee maker, ironing board and iron are available in the room. Overall a good experience.”

• Parking too expensive. Poorly located for getting to major sights.

“Our room was comfortable and quiet. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The parking was too expensive ($18 a day) but easy to use. We had to drive to most places because it was located too far from Vieux Quebec, and that increased the amount we had to pay for parking each day. The whole hotel is non-smoking and has free wireless access, which worked beautifully. It's probably better for the business traveler than the sightseer.”

• It is rather noisy, we received a high traffic area room.

“It has a convenient location within walking distance of the old city and the more modern areas. The outside is classic Brutalist poured concrete but the inside is just fine. The sleeping area of our room was just okay, the bathroom was modern and pretty. It was not my worst hotel experience, but it was not close to being the best either.”

• Room was quite nice. Quiet hotel.
• Unhelpful staff, long walk to attractions, only valet parking (no self parking).

“When we rang before arrival to request twin beds all hotels helped us except this one (one even giving us a free rollaway). We were told we could not change room types from king to a queen. Also parking is expensive and only valet (no self-park) and it can take up to 40 minutes for valet to get your car in busy times. There were also a dozen or so hairs in our bed (on one side of bed only) when we arrived - obviously the bed linen had not been changed from the previous guest. Hotel is a long way from main attractions of Quebec city - i.e. the old town.”

“The hotel is ok with a nice pool and exercise room. The location is ok. Even though all rooms are non-smoking, ours was an old smoking room and the room still smelled very much. The TV was also not working too well. I find the Best Western chain to be very uneven in terms of comfort, quality of room.”

• The hotel was fairly easy to access from the highway and it was close to the things that we wanted to see and do.
• We were not sure what to do with our car or where to take it for valet.

• Our waiter at the hotel restaurant was very handsome, knowledgeable, and friendly. The front desk staff was also helpful.
• I would have liked to have been a bit closer to the Old City of Quebec.

“This hotel is convenient to the Old City of Quebec by car. I would have liked to have stayed in the Old City, but settled for this. After walking the hilly streets of Old Quebec, we found the hotel restaurant quite a pleasant alternative to going out. The staff was friendly and helpful, perhaps even flirty. As a gay couple, we felt entirely comfortable throughout the stay and appreciate a city and a hotel that enables that.”

• The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating.
• The mattress was a little too firm for me.

“The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating to this out of towner. Bus stops are conveniently located across the street for trips into Old Quebec and there were sights and restaurants within walking distance. I would recommend ordering breakfast off the menu rather than choosing the breakfast buffet. It was over priced and somewhat bland.”

• Inefficient air conditioning - rooms have a sour odor.

“Firstly poor location but the hotel is very tired - rooms smell of deodorizer and air conditioning noisy and in effective - system does not have thermostats. This is not a three star hotel - more like one star but I doubt it could even get a rating.”
