• Good location and facilities including swimming pool.

• Comfortable attractive room, good deal on house wine, club level breakfast, location, friendly staff, reasonable internet access.
• Very expensive parking, but we found reasonable parking across the street.

“Rooms are clean, comfortable, attractive, and good size for Europe. Staff is very professional and helpful. Location is good, with lots of restaurant in the area. Dom, the Rhine, and other sights are within easy walking distance. There were bottles of house wine in the room available for 9 Euro per bottle, 16 Euro for two - and it was good wine! We enjoyed our stay very much and should recommend the hotel to anyone.”

• Price of wireless service for 24 hours only was a bit inflexible.

• Pool blocked by groups, breakfast not good.

• Extremely friendly staff, clean and classy, very close to parking, trains, and major attractions.
• Extremely expensive breakfast buffet. (21 Euro).

“The Renaissance Marriott is a clean, classy hotel located close to all the main attractions of Cologne. Within a block of the hotel there is a Subway stop, several parking garages, and many places to eat and drink. I didn't use the train or taxis as it was only a fifteen minute walk to the Downtown cathedral area. You can't go wrong with this pick as long as the price is right.”

• Breakfast buffet was excellent, looked forward to it.
• No free internet, very expensive.

“The hotel could be great, but it seemed that some bean counters had cheapened the experience. Internet access was very costly, even when you paid extra to be in the club level and have access to the club lounge. They had the air conditioning set to a level in the rooms that made it necessary to request a fan from the desk to make it bearable to sleep at night. They let us change rooms for this and a shower drain problem, but the A/C just was not up to working order. We even resorted to just opening the windows and then got all the traffic noise all night long.”

• Great location short walks from Cathedral.
• Smoking allowed in public areas.

“Great location, easy to get to. Room above average and well prepared. Staff a bit brusque. Desk did not advise that breakfast not included and cost 21 Euros! Took breakfast off bill upon complaint. Would stay again.”

• The rooms where clean and comfortable.
• The service was horrible! I was double billed and had to make several corrections to my bill before I left.

“If you stay here be sure to check your credit card statement and review your final bill. I felt like either they had the worlds most incompetent staff or were over billing me to get more money. In the end after I went through my bill with them and made several corrections I was still double billed! The hotel is beautiful but the service was seriously lacking.”

• Free coffee bar with cookies in the lobby.
• Internet usage rates too high.

“Lovely hotel within walking distance of attractions. Rooms were of adequate size, clean and very, very comfortable with a very nice decor. Beds were great and linens/pillows outstanding. The coffee bar with cookies in the lobby was a very, very lovely touch. Restaurant was impeccable in food quality and service. My waiter was exceptional. The next day my waiter saw that I was having trouble getting a cab and he ran outside and hailed one for me. Nice that he remembered his customer from the night before. Kudos to him!”

• The hotel itself and its location were excellent.

“It was a wonderful hotel, very clean, in an excellent location so we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go to in cologne. The front desk staff was extremely helpful with any questions that we had about cologne whether it be any local tourist attractions or on their great db rail system. We would definitely recommend this hotel and stay there again.”

• Staff spoke excellent English, bed very comfortable, free shoeshine.
• A bit noisy some nights, a bit far to walk from city center.

“We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly and spoke excellent English. Also liked the free tea and coffee in the lobby in the morning. They had herbal tea which we drink. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was fashionably decorated. It's about 3/4 mile to the city center but near a subway station.”

“This hotel lives up to the Renaissance name. Inside, the decor is swanky and the amenities are top notch. I especially enjoyed the sauna area where they keep a refrigerated room as well as a normal sauna and a small chilled pool. The experience makes you feel like a rich Roman merchant. It is located just around the corner from a street filled with nightlife and is just a short walk to the historic town centre. My only complaint is that the advertised free coffee in the lobby is taken away in the afternoon when I normally drink coffee. However, this is a small sacrifice to make for such a wonderful uni-night residency experience.”

“Just an excellent hotel. Very comfortable and within walking distance of all the sights. With the dollar sinking by the day against the Euro I was very wise to lock in my rates several months ago. One of my favorite stays in Germany.”
