“This was one of the worst experiences. The hotel claims to have recently renovated and if that is so, may be they did not renovate every room. Or I'd hate to see it prior to renovation. We had an accessible room, but there was no hand rail near the toilet. We had the room for our 88 year old disabled mother for a special occasion nearby. When we got back to the room late, tired and mom in extreme pain, we found the room completely stripped of our belongings. Mom's meds, our clothes, luggage, everything. Mom started crying, I started trying to figure it out and learned that staff had taken our belongings out and put them in another room. But when the people who had engaged that room arrived they were upset because none of the items in the room belonged to them. So instead of putting our items back into our room they were stored somewhere. I did not get mom tucked in until Midnight. The hotel is in a very bad area of Vancouver and all night there were sirens, yelling and loud noises on the street. The bathroom was not thoroughly clean and there was rust and old scum around the toilet. To top it off the breakfast was abysmal. Bacon that was fried in stale grease, toast that wasn't even brown or crisp. I have had much better experiences with Motel 6, Holiday Inn Express, etc. This stay was horrible and traumatized my poor mom to the extent that she didn't sleep all night.” Jun 30, 2008 by

“Better suited for extended stay guests, the suite (but all together just the size of a large hotel room) has a full kitchen and the perk of a full washer/dryer, however the other furnishings were drab and unexciting. The ridiculously small bathroom was clean but cramped, and the bedroom was lit with cheap blue fluorescent bulbs that gave everything a sickly, zombie-like cast.” Jun 30, 2006 by

“Very good, but the internet in the rooms was down the entire week. Had to use the 2-computer "business center" which was inconvenient. Ended up getting access at the local starbucks, so that was TERRIBLE! Also, the entire 7th and 10th floors smell like dog! Horrible! Had to be moved twice! Room 703 doesn't have a shower, only bath, so beware! But if you are not staying on the 7th or 10th floors, AND the internet is working, AND your room has a shower, then this is the BEST place to stay! REALLY! Location is great! Staff is great! Room service, great! (Except on Friday night! I called 3 times, was placed on hold for over 10 minutes each time and never got my meal! But the room service is actually part of the restaurant next door, not the "actual" hotel staff.)” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 16, 2006 by

“This hotel is in a great location. Downtown, Robson Street, waterfront, Stanley Park aren't far away. Davie street area has everything you need -- markets, shopping, restaurants. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We liked the suite set-up, with the one bedroom, fold out couch, kitchen with all appliances -- and a washer/dryer for doing laundry.” Jun 8, 2006 by

“The hotel staff was not very friendly. The bed was terrible. They gave us a double bed and kept insisting that it was a queen and that they did not have a double bed. The whole experience was terrible. did not like that fact that they didn't even offer to change rooms and kept telling me that they are sold out. ” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 29, 2006 by

“Given Vancouver is an expensive place to stay, this hotel was pretty good value for money. For a one-bedroom suite, the space was somewhat small but larger than a regular hotel room and with a nice small kitchen. Location is pretty good (downtown) with lots of food shops and restaurants - but it is not the prime shopping or theater area (those are a good walk away or short drive).” May 25, 2006 by

“The hotel is becoming somewhat dated, I was told the Westing was the top of the line hotel in Calgary, so perhaps my expectations were set too high. The room layout was poor, not accommodating for children, and the carpet was torn, bathroom floor did not look like it had been damp mopped.” May 25, 2006 by

“It was very relaxing, peaceful, and very clean, which I am very impressed. The whole setting was just wonderful. You would never know that the main and busy street was just a few feet away.” May 10, 2006 by

“This was a great hotel - having a kitchen and washer/dryer made a 6-day stay very comfortable. The rooms were modern and clean, the lobby was neat and fashionable and the staff pleasant.” May 8, 2006 by

“Very secure with friendly staff. Easy check in and out. Nice spa facility. Many good and convenient restaurants close by and within walking distance of shops and beach.” Mar 12, 2006 by

“Great location near the local restaurants and yet also close to Stanly Park and the water front. Nice Retro lobby with cool furniture.” Jan 9, 2006 by

“Upon arriving at the Sandman on Davie, we were pleased with the ease of parking, the beautiful entry way, and the quick service at the front desk. The Moxie, which is attached to the hotel, was perfect for a group of younger people, couples, or those who want a little adult time. It was also very reasonably priced. This hotel's location is superb; we were right in the middle of Vancouver, as demonstrated, with an easy access to the downtown area as well as the fantastic view. The halls and rooms were, sadly, not a three star material. From the stained carpets to the broken sliding glass door, I was not impressed. The adorable kitchenette almost made up for it, but not quite enough. This hotel was nearly all we had hoped for, but it fell short in a few very important ways.” Nov 29, 2005 by

“The rooms were small but were good. Parking came as surprise and the rates were exorbitant. 15 Can. $ per day was very high.” Nov 29, 2005 by

“Good hotel overall. We had a room with a nice view over downtown and a little bit of the water. The staff were very pleasant and helpful in the little interactions with them. The room was clean, with a kitchenet and balcony. We did not have any use for the kitchen. The bedroom vas very small and so was the bathroom. Location was great, lots of grocery stores and eateries right below. Would recomend it.” Hotel Representatives:
