• Not as close to Orchard street, no good restaurants close by.

“Hotel appears approximately 20 plus year old would benefit from renovation, or lower star rating. Reasonably well located with complimentary shuttle service to Orchard Blvd. Concierge service was very helpful and friendly. Housekeeping spray room with large quantities of overpowering, pungent room airfreshner, very unpleasant. Room has windows that open, but are screwed shut - suggest guests take Philips head screwdriver to open window and ventilate room.”

• I liked everything.

“Excellent hotel. It easily surpasses any 5 star Luxhotel in Singapore because it provides every and any need or service without a big to do. It has what I would call business class!”

• Hard beds, small 'king' bed, small rooms.

“The rooms just don't really have what it takes to be a 4 star. They are small, the 'king' bed isn't really king size and was too hard. The flat screen TV was right above the desk so I had to move a small table over for my laptop so it would not block the TV. The location is also poor not within walking distance of anywhere we wanted to go.”

• Every staff person, desk, concierge, cleaners, etc. smiled and greeted us.
• Can't think of anything.

“This is a great hotel for people who don't need to be in all the glitz of Orchard Road. It is a green area and relatively quiet. Still close to public transportation. I liked the little foot and neck massage shops adjacent to the hotel as well as a couple of small convenience stores. We were within walking distance of Zion Rd. Hawker stall. Cheap delicious food. Also across the street is a wonderful Indian restaurant. Just a small place with excellent food. I would recommend this hotel to experienced travelers.”

• A bit for from the action in terms of tourism.

“A welcoming hotel that soars 28 floors above the city. From this location, you can see the downtown core which is a short taxi ride away. The hop-on hop-off bus run by SIA is a few minutes walk away.”

• Fan motor ran continuously.

“Very nice hotel. Very friendly staff. Would not hesitate to stay here again But like all Singapore hotels, greatly overpriced, which might keep me from coming back to Singapore. Bangkok hotels, are about 30% less.”

• The lobby, atrium style was amazing, great buffet, and pool.
• The room was average.

“Staff was very helpful, had free shuttle bus, not close to subway, MRT, great buffet and pool. Atrium lobby was amazing. Did not include breakfast without saying such. Then they charge $20 per person! For an 8 day stay that would be outrageous!”

• The fee for internet usage is too high for the business traveler. They should include it in the cost of the basic room.

“The hotel is very clean, elegant, and has all the services needed. I especially like the laundry facilities which saves money, and the convenience stores which carry international calling cards and Western snack foods. A five minute walk away is a modern mall which carries anything you may have forgotten, and Chinatown is only a 5 minute taxi ride away. I would recommend to the hotel to provide free internet access to all rooms. The per day cost is quite high. Otherwise, service is excellent and it is a great hotel in all respects.”

• My friend told me that I can pay same price to get a better location hotel there.

“Enjoyed the hotel, the staff are very friendly with some shopping next to the hotel. Also get a cheap massage next door, they do fantastic foot massages! We would come back here again.”

• The atrium design of this hotel is intriguing.
• Access not very pedestrian friendly.

“We were very pleased with the choice of this hotel as a place to stay in Singapore. The design of the hotel with the interior atrium is unusual and made staying there interesting. The rooms were excellent. The location is good with access to public transportation, a variety of places to eat and all required services conveniently located.”

• Bed very firm, Broadband cost of $30 per day - far too expensive.

“Would not recommend this hotel - staff tried hard but really no dispute resolution skills at all. Rooms need refurbishment - charges for all "incidentals" way to expensive - location not convenient for either shopping or eating. Last day there no hot water for the whole day - reported this to staff mid morning and they arrived to fix as we checked out at 11:00PM - not satisfactory at all. As a regular traveler to Singapore I would not stay here again.”

“This hotel is not a 4 star. I would rate this hotel as 2 star at best. The lobby, rooms, restaurants were not clean and were all overdue for an immediate renovation. Also, this hotel is not in the orchard road location. This hotel is a 5 minute car ride from orchard road. I really do not want to stay in this holiday inn atrium again.”

“While this hotel has lovely accommodations, it is too far away from the center of town. This would not be such a problem if the hotel would provide more convenient and on-going shuttle services to orchard road and the metro stations (too far to walk). Also, although there is a concierge, he did not have the know-how to provide typical concierge services such as helping with theatre bookings, giving restaurant suggestions, etc.”

• Breakfast was delicious and pool area was very nice.
• Rooms were small and dated.

“The hotel was of average quality. Service was acceptable. The whole hotel needs some renovation. The rooms are very small and need extensive renovation work. The largest bed you can get here is a queen size bed. The rooms were also not as clean as one would expect from a hotel in Singapore. Overall, I would stay there again, but my expectations (and price) would be lower than this time.”

• The location is not at all close to an mrt station.

“The hotel itself was nicely furnished and clean; although the location is not at all convenient to an mrt station (I did the 20 minute walk one morning and was drenched in sweat due to the heat & humidity). There are a few things within walking distance, but it is not in a particularly bustling, pedestrian-friendly location. There are busses, but I did not find it easy to figure out routes and prices. Take taxis if you want to sight-see or shop.”

• The central location of this hotel made it very east to get around.
• The restaurant in the hotel was expensive and the food was not good at all.

“I would recommend this hotel because the location made it very easy to get around via a short inexpensive taxi ride to almost anywhere in Singapore. I would recommend you go out to eat instead of eating in the hotel, there are very nice restaurants in Singapore for much less than you will spend in Singapore.”

“For central location and price offered during a busy event time in Singapore it was a good value. Weight room and pool were nice and clean. All other faculties were in good condition. Room decor was aged and bathrooms a bit antiquated. Good view of hotel form most rooms. No internet access in my room.”

• Bad management and not reliable staff

“I had very bad experiences. I had to wait 2 and half hour to check-inn. I hardly slept until 1:00 am for countdown event. It was Impossible to catch taxi to airport and I asked tour bus to help. The staffs were not reliable.”

• The Chinese restaurant "XIN" was GREAT!
• Hotel room had a musty smell. Carpet was stained and shower grout was moldy.

“The hotel was a bit far from the SIN Airport. The food was good but the hotel room was not up to par for the money.”

• Location is a bit away from the main shopping areas.

“Overall staff friendly. Hotel has a shuttle service to Orchard Road and Chinatown which runs a number of times per day. Had an evening slight and while I couldn't arrange a late check out, the hotel does allow guests to use the showers in the gym to freshen up before heading to the airport. Quite useful after a day of shopping!”

• Internet charges are real high and hotel is in need of renovation.

“This hotel recently (in 2005) was rebranded as the Holiday Inn-Atrium. The hotel is showing its age, and is in need of a renovation. At least the rooms are large, and the room rate is low for this city. The closest subway stop is over 1 mile/2 km away, but there is a nice shopping center in the area, and a small shopping plaza connected to the hotel itself. The staff is less than cordial at times, although the tour desk representative was very helpful, and like another reviewer observed, be careful as internet charges are outrageous. ”
