“The Caribe Hilton is a great place to rest and relax. We really enjoyed the hammocks, the pools, the hot tub, the ocean swimming area and the poolside bar and grill. The staff was great! They even allowed us to check in way ahead of the normal check in time. This hotel was a large part of what made this vacation the most relaxing we have had in many years.” Jun 17, 2009 by
Amarilis from Davie,FL
“The first room they gave was horrible, noise, old furniture, dirty walls, but when I complained they graciously change me to a very nice room. 14th Floor nice view, clean and new.” Jun 10, 2009 by
Angie from Houston,TX “Everything met or exceeded our expectations.” May 20, 2009 by
Nicole from Walton,NY
“I enjoyed my stayed at the Caribe Hilton, the beauty I woke up every morning to nature birds peacock and the beautiful fish. The scenery, sea and view was gorgeous. I had a blast of time. As always priceline have always offer the best hotel.” May 14, 2009 by
Rachel from Springfiel,OH
“I have previously stayed at this hotel 3 times. This time I got the worst room I've ever had. The view was of the rooftop of the rest of the hotel. The room was very dated, we had a sliding pocket door for the restroom that would not stay closed. The air-conditioning would only cool to 68 degrees, not good for someone who likes a cool room to sleep at night. I have stayed here before, but this stay really makes me question if I will return in the future. On the plus side the private beach is wonderful and landscaping of the grounds are beautiful!” Apr 29, 2009 by
George from Atlanta,GA
“This was a large resort hotel with nice facilities, pools, stores, health club and tennis courts.” Apr 18, 2009 by
Erik and Sarah from Iowa City,IA
“The most complete resort in the Puerta de Tierra/Old San Juan area. Barely walking distance or easy public transit to Old San Juan, Condado, etc. Very nice beach, pool, garden. Resident wildlife. Very expensive restaurants and beverages. Beautiful views, two Spanish forts adjacent to resort.” Apr 17, 2009 by
Mary from Scarborough,Canada
“It was comfortable, clean and met my expectations.” Apr 17, 2009 by
David from Needham,MA
“Overall was disappointed in the resort. The Hilton charges a resort fee when you get there, so if you think your rate is fixed, you're wrong. This seemed like a bait and switch, as I could have gotten another resort likely for a lower price. One other issue was the restaurants, which were high priced considering the food and service. Most restaurants are empty, as it appears that others had figured out it is a better deal to eat in Old San Juan. On the upside, the private beach is decent, and our children enjoyed the feeding area for the animals. All in, this resort has the makings to be something really good as long as they focus on service and less on extracting extra dollars.” Apr 11, 2009 by
Abdullah from Boston,MA
“Excellent value for money except for the food quality at the restaurants.” Apr 10, 2009 by
Laura from Silver City,NM
“This hotel is well known and one of the oldest in San Juan. In spite of this, it did not seem run down, in fact, they are continually improving the place (so you have to ignore the construction dust). I was impressed with the number of outdoor recreational activities and comfortable seating arrangements. My 13 year old loved climbing the inflatable iceberg and jumping on the trampoline island. The hotel felt rich and exclusive - but friendly, and I would return in a heartbeat.” Mar 22, 2009 by
Erik from Daytona Beach,FL
“Nice hotel with a great view. Had a nice beach and pool area although the hot tub was not hot at all. Not in the best location, restaurants were a good 20 to 30 minutes walk away. The resort fee of 14% was way too much for what was offered and some activities cost money on top of that.” Mar 19, 2009 by
Diane from Grand Rapids,MI
“Not a lot of beach area, close enough to walk into Old San Juan, beautiful views of ocean.” Mar 12, 2009 by
Monica from Mississauga,Canada
“Overall I was very satisfied with the hotel. The pool and beach were very clean with plenty of chairs and loungers. The pool bar staff, extremely friendly and able to assist with recommendations. There is no limitations to things to do, or places to eat, our favorite being Lemon grass restaurant located within the hotel. The food was absolutely phenomenal with service and staff to match. Check-in staff was very courteous, unfortunately we had to talk to them more then once because our room key kept getting demagnetized due to our blackberry's.” Mar 10, 2009 by
Jane from Newark,DE
“This is a resort geared towards kids and business travelers. It is a lovely place but the restaurants are quite expensive for families and the hotel is a little secluded. It is a good 15 walk to an area with a lot of restaurants. Everything was clean and the staff very nice.” Mar 9, 2009 by
Mari from Lido Beach,NY
“Great. Recent renovations. However, no casino.” Feb 13, 2009 by
Johaira from Atlanta,GA
“If you travel with fam. the hotel is great compare to other hotels in the same area. The staff was very friendly, the level of cleanliness was not great....the hotel has different areas ( a main building and also villas) when we checked in we got one of the villas room with view of the street, the room was very old and dingy and the bathroom was not very clean, the internet didn't work and we also had to walk a long way (about 7-10minuts) before we got to the main are, pool, beach etc.from the room with kids that was not very practical. Once we asked to be changed and moved to a different room in the main building the experience was much different. The room was in perfect condition, the bathroom was cleaner and it was much easier to go from all the main areas to the room with the kids.” Feb 1, 2009 by
Sandra from Stamford,CT
“We stayed for one night before cruise. Beautiful location. Very large hotel. The resort facilities are fabulous. Nice pools, oceanfront property. I would definitely stay here again, except next time I will rent a car! Ridiculous taxi prices in PR. $14.00 to the mall (3 miles), $16.00 to the cruise terminal (2 miles). I think a hotel of this stature should be offering a shuttle service (even if it’s for a small fee to cover the petrol!)” Jan 18, 2009 by
Kenneth from Boston Ma
“The pool was great and the beach was pretty to look at, but the swimming area was too protected. No surf or waves, the Marriott has a much better beach. Also, the outlets are very expensive and the property is really located in the middle of no where. Not near Condado not near old San Juan. Next time I'll stay in the Condado.” Nov 25, 2008 by
Barbara from Lisle,IL
“We were there for one day, before our cruise and one day after. Our cruise was fabulous and our hotel experience was equally fabulous.” Nov 20, 2008 by
Stanley O. from Daytona Beach,FL
“Walked on the sixth floor corridor and the smell of wetness and mold seemed strong, went into the room, wood doors were dirty not kept up or polished, paint in the bathroom was peeling in the corners, the bath tub was not draining, the AC unit door was not locked and the filter seemed like it has not been changed for at least 6 months and very dirty.” Nov 15, 2008 by
James from Flushing,NY
“The Caribe Hilton was very relaxing. The staff is very friendly. You should ask for the WiFi code when you check in, otherwise you need to call helpdesk (easy once you find a phone). The resort is spaceous and comfortable. It offered every amenity. Jogging to Old San Juan in the mornings was fantastic. The private beach was clean and serene. The room was quiet and comfortable. However, the bathroom floor needed mopping (which i just laid all the towels on top of) - it was a blemish on an otherwise great experience. I plan to go back this Christmas on my personal time.” Sep 18, 2008 by
brittany from carnesville
“It is so awesome and I will go to it again if I get the chance.” Sep 11, 2008 by
Marla from Littleton, CO
“Very disappointed. No hot water for showers on first day. Boiler problem they said. We were awakened the next morning by drills and hammering in the room above us. The front desk stated the construction was not theirs but it obviously was. The poolside service was bad. We did not get the food we ordered and it was slow.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Ralph from Caguas, PR
“Hotel is at the front of the San Juan area. Surrounded by Beaches and the San Geronimo fort. Spectacular views all around. The employees are friendly and courteous. The rooms are good in size with 2 Queen Beds. My room had a view to the ocean and during the morning I would drink my coffee in the balcony with that ocean view. Many restaurants to select, but a little step in price. The pool area is wonderful with bars and a Snack Bar. There is a kiddies park and access to the Escanbron Beach. The tropical garden was nice and romantic. Areas to improve:- Costs for food and drinks on premises. Snacks at the rooms or snack machine per floor. Better facilities for kids (video machines). Improve parking area. A must.” Sep 1, 2008 by
Alicia from Wappingers Falls, NY
“The hotel Caribe Hilton was beautiful and pretty self-contained. A great feel of privacy in hotel. Private beach which was great for snorkeling, swimming and watching local fish swim by.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Brett from Cincinnati, OH
“For a 4 star, it was kind of old and tired.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Wilson from Ossining, NY
“Everything is as expected from a hotel with the Hilton name. The only down side was that if I wanted to go to Old San Juan at night I would need to take a cab, I would have enjoyed a walk.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Berta from Amarillo, TX
“Hotel overall great. I rented a very inexpensive car due to gas prices and upon my arrival, the valet did not reach out to me to give me service, I have to get out and ask him, as he thought I could not afford the hotel, really bad experience, but somehow expected from Puerto Rico. Did not have that at the Sheraton that was absolutely perfect!” Aug 15, 2008 by
Ana from Burlington Twp., NJ
“The amenities were nice. The pool area and ocean overlook was excellent. The service staff was fantastic, professional and friendly. Cab fare to Viejo San Juan at $15.00 each way, take the bus - 50 cents.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Laurie from Ellicott City, MD
“My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Caribe! The private beach was beautiful and never crowded. The water is so clear! We loved (as did many of the families staying at the resort) the fish feeding pier. The rooms were great (there is even a clothes line in the shower to hang all of your wet beach clothes) and the staff very friendly and helpful. The Hilton Caribe exceeded our expectations!” Aug 13, 2008 by
Brad from Akron, OH
“All in all, my stay was completely satisfactory. Everything was so overpriced that we would not probably stay again.” Aug 3, 2008 by
Alexis from Mamaroneck, NY
“Very beautiful space and grounds. Staff was friendly. The only issue is that it is so far from anything and everything at the hotel itself (food and cabs) was really expensive, making it hard to stick to our budget.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Marty from Ashland, MA
“This is an incredible hotel resort. The staff is attentive, the hotel is beautiful, the grounds are stunning.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Adam from Pearland, TX
“Great location with a perfect beach. Staff was slow to respond to requests. Our room smelled a little. Breakfast buffet was 23 dollars per person.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Patti from Claremore, OK
“The hotel and grounds are beautiful. We had to walk to get to a Subway for lunch and dinner. There was no other reasonably priced place to eat that was close. Hotel restaurants prices were absurdly high. There were 4 - 5 hotel restaurants and they were empty for that reason. We stayed in the Tower. Huge walk in shower with 2 shower heads. Huge bathroom.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Linda from Kennesaw
“Nice views, grounds, and nice shops at hotel. Staff a little distant - not friendly. Hidden fee each day for children's charity - was noted as optional, however, it was automatically added to your bill! Watch out for that one. Overall, would recommend. Ask questions and be aware of potential hidden fees and taxi over charges. Restaurants on site are extremely pricey, so take note. Food is great, however. Checking in is lengthy, too. Hotel needs to improve that situation.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Mosesbxnyc from Bronx, NY
“Aside from not being walking distance from the shopping district or the $20 cab ride you need to take to party at night on Isla Verde, this hotel is definitely a must for those who want a nice resort like stay. Great for family or business trips. For those of you who are into the club scene and enjoy more of a night life, stay at the San Juan Hotel & Casino.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Michael from Manville, NJ
“Excellent resort with a great location and phenomenal service.” Jul 3, 2008 by
Amir from Paramus, NJ
“Upon check in, had to wait an hour for the hotel staff to open safe deposit box. It took 45 minutes for someone to show up at the room and then 15 minutes more for him to get the right tool. Room is old and outdated. Furniture is falling apart.” Jun 3, 2008 by
Joe from Newfoundland, PA
“Very nice resort with expansive and beautiful grounds. We received rooms in a subsection of the hotel that was apparently used for timeshares or condos. The room was very spacious, with a shared terrace. All food options at the hotel were fairly expensive, and there were really no other options in easy walking distance.” Jun 1, 2008 by
Jim from Summerfield, FL
“Great food and great service.” Jun 1, 2008 by
Islandjo from Christiansted, VQ
“The Caribe Hilton was probably a top resort in its day. It needs some tender loving care to restore itself to the former beauty. The pool was dirty, the chaise lounges were old and worn and the rooms were dated. The grounds were once beautiful and could be restored with attention and care.” May 28, 2008 by
Carlos from Jackson Heights, NY
“Paradise.” May 27, 2008 by
James from Slidell, LA
“The hotel was in a great location, on a beautiful beach, and the room was amazing. The problem is that they charged an extra fee for facility use above the cost of the room.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 27, 2008 by

“I stayed at the hotel with a group of early-20-somethings and we were not amongst many others in our age group but we all enjoyed that very much. It wasn't the crazy 20-something atmosphere. Instead it was a very relaxing atmosphere that appeals to calm people who are looking for tranquility. Staying there gives you the option of going somewhere else for the party atmosphere. Even though there were some children at the hotel, we had no complaints about screaming, annoying children. The hotel's proximity to Old San Juan was an added bonus. We would take any one of the 4 or so buses (whose stops were steps from the hotel) to get to Old San Juan and the ride was only 5 minutes long, 75 cents cheap. Excellent experience, I think we'd all recommend this hotel to family and friends and if/when we return to San Juan we'd choose the Caribe Hilton.” May 27, 2008 by
Lynn from Englewood, CO
“The hotel was outstanding. The hotel gave us an upgraded room. They were great.” May 26, 2008 by
Mayur from Chicago, IL
“The hotel was great. The concierge was wonderful and helped make our trip seamless.” May 22, 2008 by
Betty from Brooklyn, NY
“My stay at the Hilton was really fabulous. The grounds were really beautiful and the private beach was such a nice perk. The executive lounge was great and the staff was nice. We had a great time. There is a little bit of nickel and dimming but overall a great stay.” May 8, 2008 by
Rosemary from Cleveland, OH
“I loved this resort! It had so many beautiful outdoor spaces and a beautiful open air lobby. I enjoyed the pier where the fish can be seen in the water from above. Loved everything about it.”
