• The design is modern.
• Exterior looks terrible. The fit and quality of the rooms leave something to be desired.

“Stayed for a night in Paris with my wife. The hotel is not close to any major attractions. The hotel on the outside looks terrible, the interior's look nice but need to be maintained, as they are already falling apart. Service at the hotel was fair, it took close to 45 minutes to check in and another 45 minutes to check out. The staff needs to have training.”

• The staff was very attentive to our needs.
• It was a bit off the beaten track. Not much nightlife nearby.

“I was looking for a hotel in Paris for our two day stop in Paris. I picked a zone that was for the Eiffel Tower and got a hotel 2.5 miles away in the business district. The price was right though and the hotel was nice. It was mixed based on location and value.”

“Hi there: This hotel was not within walking distance to the Eiffel tower, nor was it in a good location. As a hotel goes it was pretty standard (nothing special about it), the staff were not that helpful, and the location was pretty bad. I would not stay at this hotel, or in this area again.”

• The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was gorgeous and so comfortable!
• Their internet access is way overpriced. It is not centrally located to the Paris tourist sites so getting to them can be inconvenient.

“This hotel is very clean, modern upscale and international. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Once they resolve the problem of the door locking system and lower the price of their internet usage, this place will be perfect. It had every amenity you could wish for!”

• The hotel was comfortable and beautifully appointed. All restaurants, common areas and facilities were wonderful.
• Location, concierge made several mistakes.

“The Pullman hotel was an absolutely beautiful deluxe hotel. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The rooms were very spacious and came with lots of amenities not generally seen in Europe. The location was very out of the way. The hotel is at the very end of the Metro (not convenient to any sights). Also, we booked a couple of things through our hotel concierge who was very kind and helpful, but made a couple of mistakes. He booked our tickets to the incorrect cabaret show, and later apologized. But it was ultimately the cabaret show that we attended that made amends by giving us a gift for choosing their show. I also booked tickets on the TV through the concierge but was given a confirmation sheet instead of the actual tickets. This proved to make our trip extremely difficult, as we had to a peak with several customer service agents and eventually pay additional fare. I was also unable to sit with my sister on the train due to the mix up.”

• The facilities and common spaces. The hotel is very beautiful.
• They don't inform correctly, staff very rude and disrespectful and noisy.

“This hotel has good decor, but hammering and reform noises started at 8 in the morning, everyday, and when we called to complain, they did nothing about it. On arrival, we asked the front desk if breakfast was included, and they said it was, and it wasn't. I would not stay at the hotel again. Bad sleep, bad service, and bad manners.”

“Overall I had a great stay at this hotel. Initially it was a little tricky to get to because I came in to the farther train station. Definitely use the Ballard station off of line 8. Then it's about a ten minute walk from there. Slightly out of the way but worth it for the price.”

“This hotel was OK. The room was very comfortable, but it was far from the Paris sites. The metro was not too far away. The dining was very limited and expensive. The concierge did not seem knowledgeable about sightseeing trips.”

• In-room technology was too pricey and complicated.

“Perfectly nice, clean hotel on the FAR edge of the city. All romantic notions of strolling through Paris at night are dashed after passing through a full block of construction, as it turns out construction workers around the world cat-call, and crossing a multi-lane highway and tram line. It took a good 15 minutes of walking to reach anything remotely Parisian and the cafes and restaurants nearest the hotel seemed dirty and deserted. Had the hotel been 10 minutes closer to the city center, I would have been in heaven.”

“Poor location. Last Metro terminus station. A 15 euros taxi ride to Montparnasse station or 3 Metro transfers. Contrary to hotel's name, neither "Montparnasse", nor 'Rive Gauche' (Seine is several kilometers away).”

“All in all very disappointing stay. The Hotel is nothing as described on their own website, and would in no other country be classified as a 4* Hotel. The room was worn; toilet fittings were old and not working. Ventilation was hanging off the ceiling, paint was peeling from the walls, and the bathroom must have been painted by a 5 year old. All in all would never again use the area again for a stay in Paris out of fear of getting this Hotel.”

• At end of metro line away from city center.

“Very comfortable! Although it is at the end of the Balard metro line it was very close to the station and not a problem. There are places to eat on the opposite side of the station from the hotel that are very good. I recommend it highly.”

• It was a little far away from the parish core.

• Comfortable room with spacious bath.
• Located a little too far out from the city and not too many restaurants to eat at in proximity to hotel.

“Extremely comfortable hotel with all the amenities you'd expect with in a four star hotel. The room and bathroom was spacious, especially by European standards. The hotel is relatively close to the metro with about a 15 minute ride into the heart of Paris. Only drawback is that there aren't many restaurants in proximity to the hotel so you're forced to either eat at the hotel or eat before you return to the hotel.”

• Design of the room was nice, bathroom was big.
• Far from center, still being renovated, noisy during the day

“The room size is just ok, although the design is nice. The bed is rather small for a couple, as it's queen size only. Although all the facilities looked clean and new, a certain lack of attention to details could be observed in the bathroom, where the water installation for the toilet seemed in the middle of renovation (the flush button was completely loose and the water kept dripping fairly noisily).”

• Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel is close to metro & RER making transportation easy and convenient.
• Hotel was a little out of the way for sightseeing but close enough to metro & RER to get to anywhere in the city.

“The Sofitel Paris Porte de Sevres is a very attractive hotel well suited for business travel. It is clean and modern, having all of a traveler's needs close by shops, restaurants, and metro & RER stations. The staff is very friendly and helpful. For the leisure traveler it's just a little bit out of the way for seeing the sights of Paris but having public transportation close by made up for this minor inconvenience. I would choose this hotel again.”

“Very nice lobby, restaurants were good. We were surprised to receive complimentary parking. Unfortunately our non-smoking room retained a heavy stench of cigarettes. Not good for people with allergies/asthma.”

• The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and neat.
• I think that the hotel is a high 3 star quality not really a 4 star. The carpet was stained and dirty.

“The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and I enjoyed my stay. It is a perfect hotel for business travelers. It is slightly far from the main attractions in Paris. It takes about 20 minutes by train to get to shopping and sights. It took about 8 minutes to walk to the train station from the hotel. I really enjoyed not being in a crowded hotel. So, it was really relaxing for me. There are some restaurants and shops nearby. There is also a park that is within walking distance. I would stay here again.”

• Located on the outskirts of Paris. Not many restaurants nearby.

“The hotel itself is very nice. Rooms have a plasma TV, modern bathroom, and a very comfortable bed. Rooms are small by American standards but not bad for European standards. The location of the hotel is nothing exciting. In fact, there's nothing there. Fortunately, the Metro stops are convenient and close by (about a 6 minute walk) and gets you to anywhere you want to be in Paris.”

“Very ideal hotel for honeymoons and other occasions. Nice classy 4 or even considered 4.5 star hotel. Location is good since its 5 minutes from a metro stop. I would recommend it to anyone.”

• Maids forgot to do our room and it was in the condition it was left in the morning at 4:00 p.m.

• Location is terrible; pool could not be used by my 2 or 8 yr old, breakfast to expensive.

“I was shocked that the location that seemed so close on the internet turned out to be so far from the Eiffel Tower. There are few to no eating places around and the hotel prices are stiff. They have a great pool but not for kids!”

• The quality of hotel food was disappointing.

“Overall, the hotel was nice and met the needs of my family. We were disappointed with the quality of concierge service. For example, we were advised that all the museums were closed on Tuesday while we in country. However, we found out later that day this was not accurate information. Consequently, we missed out on some touring.”

• Comfortable mattresses, helpful, receptive staff, very good television, convenient and modern restroom.
• Location. Asked for Eiffel tower area, this hotel was at least 6 Metro stops from Eiffel Tower.

“They are renovating the rooms and our first room was very nice a higher category than they booked for us. However, due to construction noise, we moved to an older room which was much smaller and it took several hours for the air conditioning to cool. Everyone was very nice, but the hotel was too far from the sights.”

• Renovations were not perfectly done. Some areas were still in need of better detailing, stuck out due to the change of room.

“Hotel was nice, modern, was better than I expected from the reviews I read. But it definitely was not a four star hotel, more like a three star hotel. Some shortcuts were made to renovations and stuck out due to the other "modern" changes. Bathroom was a little dingy besides the new showerheads and some retiling of bathroom needs some work. The cleaning staff only made beds and changed towels, but didn't not vacuum daily. Concierge and hotel staffs were accommodating and helpful. We discovered a great Japanese/French fusion restaurant as recommended by concierge. We ordered room service, over priced. We didn't try the breakfast since it was $25 a head. Too pricey. The beds were nice and comfortable. Room was small, but ok for a couple of nights. Not much of a view and too far from the sights. Concierge mentioned that it was only a 15 minute walk from such and such sights, but it was not. It was more like a 15 minute cab ride than walk. We cabbed it everywhere we went since we traveled with a 2 1/2 year old so the taxi bills really added up. Location of hotel was not as I expected, it was more outside of Paris than inside of Paris.”

• I loved the lobby and the concierge was very helpful.
• Service.

“Yes this hotel is on the outskirts of Paris however easy access to metro. Initial room had no air conditioning, downgraded to smaller room/bed. When asked about the hours for breakfast at rooftop restaurant was not told it was closed. Nowhere was it mentioned that Speedos were required in the swimming pool.”

• Main floor, foyer, and reception area was nice.
• Room was dirty and paint was chipping off and room door was broken, floor dirty. Racist receptionist at exercise area.

“Was terribly disappointed. Hotel looked nice from outside and foyer was very nice. Went up to the rooms and it was very dirty and paint was peeling from the walls, frame door was broken and no paint on the window sills. Cleaning staff were very lazy and the receptionist in the exercise room was racist. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”

• Great staff, very helpful in knowing how to get to sites in the city.
• Not a great area but pretty close to the Metro which made it ok.

“Very clean and beautiful common area and the rooms were nice but fairly plain. All rooms have only queen beds and only 1 per room. The location reminded me of being on the remote outskirts of a business area. Definitely not in a shopping or historic area, but it is only 2 blocks from a Metro location.”

• Rooms need refurbishment-had peeling paint and wallpaper.

“Hotel is located in an area away from attractions other than a water park next door. Ballard Metro station a ten+ minute walk away as well as neighborhood restaurants and shops. Hotel public areas attractive and up-to-date. Hotel room 1829 is very old and in disrepair with peeling paint on walls, wallpaper peeling from bathroom walls, drapery missing hooks and difficult to open/close. Staff was friendly and helpful. The Sofitel in its current condition is not a four star hotel.”

• The rooms were clean, the bed was great.
• The location was not what I bargained for far from sites.

“The hotel itself is pretty - great public space, great (but small) rooms. However, the service was bad. I tried to order something from room service that was on the restaurant menu, and was told no, they couldn't do it (crepes suzette!). So I went to the restaurant to order it to go and they said, oh, you have to call room service! Finally they helped me. Then I was watching a movie and the hotel controls the volume! At 11pm, the volume automatically goes down so low, you cannot possibly hear it! I called the desk and they were just rude about it. The internet access wouldn't work. And then, they charge me $50 euros for breakfast for two! The price wasn't listed anywhere and I was given a ticket at check in so I thought it was included. But, the worst part of the hotel is the location; it is far from the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, which is what I requested. I won't stay at this hotel. Bad experience.”

“The staff really did not understand how to treat guests. I was kept waiting 15 minutes to borrow an umbrella while the concierge was on the phone. A friend was told that she could not leave a message for me by phone the day before I arrived because I had not yet checked in. In other words, they would take the message down and hold it for me.”

• Staff very friendly, room comfortable, bigger than I'd expected.
• The pool was not always available when we went to use it.

“Staff excellent, they changed our room without problem as it was near elevator and a bit noisy. I was told all Paris hotel rooms are small - this one wasn't, it was a good size. It's next to a water park with lots of eateries, and best of all its cigarette-smoke free! A short walk takes you to the subway, for a short trip into Paris. I would stay here again.”
