Research User Reviews for Mulia Hotel Senayan (1-1 of 1)

“My colleagues and I stayed at Mulia for 3 nights for business. Jakarta is not a city known for being safe, so we chose this local hotel for safety concern. However, we didn't know this decision actually put us in great danger due to the advice hotel concierge gave us. The particular hotel concierge first highly recommended us (fully aware that we are two single girls traveling alone for work) to dine at the CJ restaurant - it turns out to be a bar, and was closed when we went there after taken his advice. We felt surprised but didn't think much of it. The second day, same hotel staff recommended us not to go to the SPA, our local friend recommended in a nearby nice mall, according to him that is 1 star. Instead, he told us we must go to this 5 star super famous SPA called Delta Spa, because it's famous for massage. We trusted him and didn't understood why all the concierge staff was laughing about it. So we went there - stuck in traffic for an hour - and found out this is a place does massage only for men. The spa receptionist looked so shocked to see us there and made it clear that this is not a place we want to be. It was smoky there and people looked suspicious and the environment was unpleasant. We were outraged and reported this to the duty manager, who was very helpful and went to verify this to the staff and the person gave this advice started to laugh again and said that he forgot that this was a place only for men. It was very obviously very funny to him. I wondered if he would still laugh had it been his wife or sister who is traveling to a unsafe place and was given advice by 5 star hotel staff. We were lucky that we had our own car and driver and could leave immediately, otherwise it would be impossible to find a taxi in this remote place, especially when Jakarta taxi drivers are known for robbery of passengers. We just wanted to have a relaxing evening in a safe nice SPA, instead, we wasted almost 3 hours and got really angry and didn't have dinner at all that evening. Apart from this the hotel was nicely decorated and the staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurants were amazing and very affordable. Massage wise the aromatherapy was good but hot stone massage was really okay. Hotel management responded to the incident, at our request, they offered us complimentary services and an apology letter. However, we are unsure whether they fully understood how serious this matter was, and if anything happened to us that night, how were they going to take the responsibilities?” Hotel Representatives:
