  • Allow room upgrade & late check out, very friendly staff.
  • One of the three bed sheet and blanket has small visible stain, need better quality control after washing.

“Over all, we are satisfied with this hotel for the price. But we think this hotel should be a 4 star. Hotel location is very close to every thing. All hotel staffs provided 5 star service. However, this hotel need to have better quality control on its bed sheets, pillows and blanket cleanliness (Need to inspect after washing). Hotel house keeping quickly replaced the bed sheets after we told them that we need to change the bed sheet.”

  • Hotel was beautiful, with very helpful staff. Dining options were great.
  • The bed was so firm that I felt like I was sleeping on a boulder with sheets.

“This hotel exceeded my expectations except for the extremely firm bed. I loved the rubber ducks in the bathroom. It showed that they could provide a lovely room with a little fun. I utilized the fitness center and pool and was very pleased. Most of the staff spoke English; which made my travel quite easy. I would stay again.”

  • Not a 5 stars hotels quality.

“This hotel was supposed to be a 5 stars hotel. It is way below 5 stars quality and I can tell you that there was so many problems with this hotel that I couldn't keep count. It's not more than a 3+ stars hotel and whoever tells you that it's a 5 stars hotel, he would be lying to you. I had stayed so many times at Shangri-LA BKK hotel and also I have stayed at JW Marriott BKK, Conrad hotel, Peninsula hotel. These are a true 5 stars hotels.”

  • You can hear "Next doors showering?!" Beds are cheap quality!

  • Nice pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room.
  • Add 30+minutes to travel to and from hotel because of one way streets.

“Nice hotel. Free Wi-Fi in lobby but expensive in room. Staff was neither friendly nor non-friendly. Gym is nice and you can meet local Thai people working out there. Getting to and from the hotel is difficult because of location on the corner with the one way streets. Also taxis will not use meters going to the airport and the bell staff will not help you find a meter taxi.”

  • Nice new rooms. Tall building; useful if you are lost and need landmark.
  • No free internet in room.

“Nice solace from the noise, hustle and pollution once you step back from the roads back to the hotel. Good location, wide choice of food and access to cheap massage parlors. Good spa and fitness facilities. No free internet in room. Only give new, renovated room if you ask otherwise they give you the old, undecorated rooms.”

  • Staff: Excellent in every manner.
  • The food was all excellent, except the guy who made omelets in the buffet, really nasty.

“Definitely exceeded expectations. When computer broke, the IT staff was well educated and quick to response. Thai massage was calming and relaxing. Thai 4 restaurant was yummy food and waitress was more then willing to answer all question I had about the food. Overall excellent hotel and would be happy to recommend to anyone.”

“Terrible experience for a five star hotel. The entire time I was there my phone in my room did not work and I missed several appointments because of this. Also check in was terrible for a 5 star hotel. Took me over 20 minutes and I had to change rooms.”

  • The bell hop was very nice and helpful. This is only highlight.
  • The bathroom was full of mold and the sink leaked on the floor.

“This is not a five star hotel. I had problems with my room. (old, tons of black mold all under the soap dish, sink leaked) I arrived at midnight and my kids were already asleep so no chance to change rooms. In the morning I went down (while my kids were sleeping) to complain and suggest free breakfast as a remedy. I told them I don't want to change rooms, my kids are sleeping. They said they did not have authority and the manager was in a meeting. They proceeded to call and send a fix it man to the room which woke up my kids. They then sent a catering services person instead of the on duty manager to talk to me and offer me breakfast 3 hours later. The duty manager left chocolates at check out. This was more like a transit hotel. If they had said 3 or 4 star I would have not been as upset. Prior I said at the JW and after at the Hilton so I know what 5 star service should be.”

  • Lower level rooms could use some updating. Grand deluxe rooms were excellent.

“Amari had an excellent staff that was attentive to my every needs. The housekeeping staff was excellent as well. I would definitely stay at the Amari Watergate again when in Bangkok.”

  • There is no way this is a 5-star hotel.

“We were on a business trip in Bangkok, and had stayed 30 days at the Intercontinental Bangkok (a 5-star hotel), which is within sight of the Amari Watergate. After our business trip, we took a 4-day stay on the beach in Krabi, and had to return to Bangkok to fly home. I chose a 5-star hotel, in the hopes that what we'd receive would be equivalent to the Intercontinental. We were sorely disappointed. The staff was not friendly upon check-in. The room was noisy, and the walls seemed paper-thin. As I said earlier, it was satisfactory to get a night's sleep (I did not say "good night's sleep"). Getting our luggage down the next morning was a nightmare. You'd think that a "5-star resort" like Amari would have better English-speaking or understanding staff. We are in Bangkok on a regular basis. I will never stay there again, and you should seriously think about re-rating the Amari Watergate to a high-3 or low-4 star rating. The Intercontinental Bangkok is a true 5-star hotel. At best, the Amari should get 3.75 stars.”

  • Location and too much traffic.

“It is a very nice hotel. Most sites rate it as 4 star not 5 star, but either way it is very nice. The only downside is the location. Siam Square area is very congested, and at most times of day, it takes a lot of time getting in and out. In addition, if you are lucky enough to find a taxi to drop you off there most will charge a surcharge for dropping you off in that area.”

“Third time I have stayed here and three times I checked out early morning and no staff would help me get a metered taxi to the airport. I have stayed at dozens of hotels in Bangkok from 3-star to 5-star and every hotel gets me a metered taxi to the airport. This is the only hotel I have stayed at that has not even tried to get me a metered taxi to the airport. On check out the duty manager had to come down and get me a metered taxi because the bell boy could not be bothered. This is not a 5-star hotel. A 5-star hotel will do anything to help the guest. Even 3-star hotels give the basic service of flagging down a metered taxi. Useless lazy staff - don't bother.”

“15 minute walk to public transportation. Taxi's going to the Watergate have to drive an extra 10-20 minutes to do a u-turn to drive you to the front of the hotel. Hotel staff will not help you get a metered taxi to the airport. The only "5" star hotel which won't help you get to the airport. I was expected to get a taxi myself out on the street. The showers, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room, plunge pool were closed because of renovations. Very disappointing. Nice hotel but service is more like 3 star.”

  • Very friendly staff, nice room, and great location.
  • Slow internet connection in lobby, no AC in elevators.

“Overall stay was great! Only problem was the first room we got was very noisy from some renovation going on near us within the hotel. After complaining, the Duty Manager upgraded us to a Deluxe room which was much more nicely furnished. Location is very central.”

“I checked out of this hotel after one night despite paying for 3 nights. The hotel was unwilling to move me to another room -- they were doing construction next door to me. Moreover, the hotel staff was rude compared to other 5 star hotels that I have stayed at.”

  • The air conditioner made noise at night and the shower was very low for standing shower.

  • Beds are too hard and uncomfortable.

“A well run, clean and comfortable hotel for business as well as leisure travelers. Location is decent but a little too far away from mass transit (i.e. Bats or mart). Rooms are spacious and comfortable with the exception of the rock hard bed.”

  • Very Friendly and Helpful Concierge. Beautiful Room. Centrally located.
  • 15 minute walk to sky train, but taxis are so cheap it did not really matter.

“The Amari is not much to look at on the outside. Very tall cement structure. Inside it is very nice. The deluxe room was beautiful and spacious. The pool, and other facilities were great. Staff was excellent, especially the concierge. Far beyond my expectations for the price I got it for. I spent an afternoon touring the other 5 star hotels near the river. Those are even nicer. My girlfriend and I loved the Shangri-la, and hope to splurge one day and stay there. As for the Amari, it was convenient, luxurious, and everything we wanted. Across the street at the mall on the 5th floor, they have so many cheap a delicious eating places. From Thai ¿ Vietnamese. Hope this helps.”

  • The Italian restaurant was excellent.
  • The staff at the registration were incompetent. They were quietly rude and disorganized.

“Compared to the other 5 star hotels in Bangkok, this hotel was not in the same league. As I mentioned, the hotel registration staff were not well trained, disorganized and somewhat rude. There are many nice amenities to this hotel. The spa is beautiful, the pool and workout room are nice. The location is good for low end shopping near Pan tip plaza but the surroundings are low end.”

  • Very Expensive Internet Access.

“This is a very nice 5 star in a nice area of Bangkok. It is close to some high end shopping areas, as well as street vendors just outside the door. The area seems to be pretty safe, although there are taxi touts that harass you as you walk just beyond the property. (But this is everywhere in Bangkok). The hotel is very nice inside. The one thing that I didn't like was that the lobby furniture was not very comfortable. The staff is quite nice, and speak English well. The rooms are lovely, with desks built in. My view from the 30th floor was breath taking over the city. ”
