• Just great enjoyed the simple heat controls and convenient room architectural design.

• I liked the spacious room.
• I didn't like the location. The area was difficult and confusing to find.

“The night that we arrived at the hotel we had a leak in the bathroom ceiling. The leak was very bad and we had to change room 3:30AM in the morning. We didn't go to sleep until five in the morning. Needless to say we weren't too happy about the situation. To compensate us for the trouble, the hotel gave free complimentary breakfast buffet for one morning and complimentary dinner for one night. The complimentary breakfast was a very nice gesture but I was not too impress with the food. As for complimentary dinner, I thought we would probably get something like set dinner meals. But to our happy surprise, the hotel said we could order anything from the menu and even from the wine menu. My mom had a lobster dinner, my dad had a steak, and I had the rack of lamb. We also had a bottle of lovely wine. Not too much desserts and coffee. The waitress was very friendly and the service was excellent. Overall, the dinner experience was excellent. The fact that the hotel made such efforts to compensate us for any inconvenience left me with a very good impression about the hotel. I think I will definitely stay at this hotel again.”

• Friendly employees, really comfortable beds.
• Extremely bright lights in hallway lit up guest room at night.

“I called ahead to request a room away from the pub as I had seen reviews that said it could be very noisy at night for extended periods. This was granted, no questions asked. Business center had 3 computers available to guests for free, but Internet was so slow as to make them practically unusable- I waited 40 min. One night for my email to load! Luggage carts are only available to bellman, keeping them employed.”

• Complimentary newspaper, and the staff was very helpful and nice.
• This hotel is called Marriott harbor view but when you ask for a harbor view there is a surcharge of $30.00

“When we fist checked in I asked for a Harbourview and was told our room was a partial harbourview. No harbor in sight but only the pool was our view. I asked to change our room and they agreed and gave us a partial harbourview which we really enjoyed. I appreciated their cooperation. The staff was really good about it.”

• The location of the hotel was extremely convenient and was right on the waterfront.
• I had to extend my stay because a hurricane arrived and they forced me to change hotels.

“I would never stay here again despite the excellent location of the hotel and the beautiful rooms. A hurricane came during my stay forcing me to stay in the hotel for one more night. When I asked about extending my stay they would not guarantee my room and forced me out into the hurricane to change hotels.”

• Disappointed that the pool was closed and however did use the gym.

• We needed 2 queen beds, got doubles, and
  couldn't get cot. Small room, not 4 star!

“Not enough towels, asked got more but no face cloths. One of the drinking glasses were cracked, it could easily have cut someone's lip. The temperature in the room fluctuated even though we left the thermostat at 22C constant. The beds were doubles, not queens, they wouldn't let us have a cot. No view from the window. Poor quality TV picture, picture was squashed down. We were disappointed.”

• The rooms were newly decorated and larger than most. Shower water pressure was great.
• The lobby area could look more grand although the front entrance looked impressive.

• The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly! The location is perfect to the downtown Halifax waterfront.
• You need to pay an extra $20 per day for parking and $15 per day for internet access.

“We were traveling with a baby and were very impressed by the hotel staff's friendliness and helpfulness. They went above and beyond! The hotel seemed geared more towards business people yet they made as feel just as valued as guests. The only downsides were having to pay for internet and parking extra which added on another $40 per day. As well, breakfast isn't included and the restaurant is pricey. For those on a budget, the hotel is linked by a walkway to Scotia Square where there is a food court and some restaurants & shops, as well as several restaurants near the hotel. We likely wouldn't choose this as a family hotel, but definitely for a couple or business travel.”

• Vandalism in area around hotel because of proximity to bars.

“Sorry I did not like this hotel in comparison to the Westin so do not feel I can write a positive review. The bed was not so comfortable. I do recommend use of hotel underground parking; I parked one night on nearby street and my car was vandalized.”

• They closed the swimming pool because of the chemicals. The main reason for going to Halifax was so that the kids could go swimming.
