  • Looked very classy from the lobby to the concierge.
  • Rooms were too "old" and bed wasn't comfortable.

“Hotel lobby and hallways were very nice looking, but the rooms were too old looking. Bed wasn't comfortable. Hotel staff was VERY friendly.”

  • The lobby was beautifully decorated.
  • The staff tried to put us in a horrible room at first.

“This hotel was nice, but doesn't quite live up to it's claims. My parter and I felt as though they initially put us in a horrible room (small, around rooms being painted, tiny window looking at a wall) because we were getting a discount. When we finally did get a much nicer room, we found that we had to call the front desk a lot for information and help. There was no information in the room about their facilities to we had to call to find out. As well, the rooms are to have complimentary bathrobes and slippers, and you have to call for them as well. The staff was generally friendly, and the hotel was nice - but we certainly didn't feel pampered or appreciated the way we were expecting to for a 4 star hotel. My experience here was not nearly as pleasant as at other nice downtown Toronto hotels.”

  • Nothing to complain about, which was something I've never experienced before.
  • Had to call down for ice. And I thought there would be bathrobes, but no, there weren't.

“It's the King Eddy.”

  • Excellent location for shopping, theater and dining; staff very helpful with directions.
  • The gym was quite small and the bathroom could use a makeover.

“For the price I paid it was very worthwhile staying here we had a very quiet room with a great view of the lake the staff was friendly and helpful.”

  • Excellent downtown location, historic building, well maintained for 100+ years old.
  • Queen size bed was actually a double (we measured) and this reduced sleep comfort.

“The King Eddie is a historic hotel located in the heart of downtown Toronto. John Lennon and Yoko Ono once stayed here while in Toronto. For 100+ years old, the hotel is well maintained. The rooms offer nice vistas and are reasonably well furnished. Our bed was comfortable, but it was small (a double was provided instead of a Queen). There was no pool. Otherwise, we had a great stay. The Richtree Market Restaurant (formerly Movenpick Marche) and the Hockey Hall of fame are just a short walk from the hotel.”

  • Friendly service at front desk.
  • No in-room hotel guide to explain where services were located - even after we requested it.

“Good hotel in general with friendly front desk and concierge staff. Our room wasn't huge, but it was sufficient. Typical 4 star accommodations - not a lot of character, but everything was clean and well maintained. Lack of hotel information even after we asked about it was a bit of a let down we had no idea if there was a pool, fitness area etc.”

  • Location.
  • For a 4 star hotel, the bed was horrible.

“The staff were very friendly and courteous. Unfortunately, this did not overcome the fact that the room was average at best - dark with only a small window, poor view, the bed was saggy and not comfortable at all.”

  • I have no room available for me which they could have informed me before I got there, no parking was available for the guests, valet parking $40 extra.

“Never to book a Motel downtown even if it is free or 50% off, too much of a hassle for parking.”

  • Lots of laid back bars and cool clubs nearby. Try P.J. O'Brien.
  • Dress nice or get treated with rudeness.

“While the hotel is great, the hotel's parking is a problem. Do yourself a favor and park at the lot on the side. It is safe, conveniently located right outside the hotel's side door, and your fee for the total stay will be less than one night with the valet.”

  • Best lobby of any hotel in Toronto. Comfy beds and
    very comfy pillows. Excellent location.
  • Wish it had a pool.

“The King Edward is grand in every way. It is aesthetically stunning down to the last detail. The rooms are somewhat small but the comfort more than makes up for the lack of space. The staff is friendly and very helpful; they leave no detail unattended to. The hotel has no pool. This is detrimental in my eyes. Also, they charge for high-speed internet access. In this information age, I find that appalling. The King Edward's history alone makes it a legend but its staff, comfort, cleanliness and location make it an ideal place to stay while sojourning in Toronto for business or pleasure.”

“Hotel was horrible. There was a total of 4 of us and when we arrived, we were told that there was no more rooms left and we could only get a room with 1 king size bed. The manager was not helpful at all, she said that we would have to pay an extra $ per night to rent a cot for the room, I argued that this was not fair and basically received, making it seem like we did something bad or illegal. It took me 2 hours of complaining and arguing before they gave us our room. I have used Priceline many times before and stayed at the Sheraton in Toronto without any problems. This was ridiculous and ruined our trip for the entire weekend.”

  • Lobby.
  • Room - looked like a haunted mansion - old, Victorian decor.

“The lobby was very attractive. When I went to the reception, I was told that there are no rooms. After some time I was told that the only one I could have was a handicap accessible with everything in the room higher than normal. When I refused and got upset they upgraded my room.”

  • Fairly good location near Yonge. Smaller property; more intimate.
  • Room was very shabby; carpet and furniture worn. Parking $40!

“This was my first time receiving Le Royal Meridian with Price Line. The location was okay, but the room I was given was in dire need of an update; very worn carpet; furniture very worn as well. No coffee maker. No wireless internet. Parking was only Valet at $40! Ridiculous! I parked in a public lot a block away for $12.00.”

  • History.
  • Shabby, rundown, neglected and badly remodeled in places.

“Very disappointed in this hotel. Was expecting a well preserved character hotel. Corners were cut everywhere: no conditioner in room, one small bottle of drinking water for a couple, cold, dingy bathroom with green fungus-like growth around the tap and gaps in the badly 'mended' ceiling. No robes in the bedroom, lots of cold marble floor with tiny bathroom mat = cold feet! Someone is cutting costs on everything and instead of feeling luxurious and indulgent it feels cheap and mean. The staff however, were clearly trying to please.”
