“When you drive up to the property is seems very nice. As long as you stay in the Tower/main building the rooms are very nice but there is no mirror near a counter or desk to do your hair and makeup, awkward!” Nov 28, 2009 by
Don from Renton,WA
“The staff was friendly and it had a very nice Hawaiian atmosphere. I would recommend the tower rooms but not the cottage rooms.” Nov 18, 2009 by
Ed from Colorado Springs,CO
“Nice hotel on a world class beach in nice area.” Oct 11, 2009 by
Darrell from Burien,WA
“After checking in and getting our room in a cottage, we called the front desk requesting a room upgrade. We were told that their garden view rooms for 15 dollars more a night were all booked but if we wanted to we could upgrade to a water view room for 50 dollars more per night. We did the 50 dollar upgrade rather then staying in the run-down, cramped cottage room.” Oct 8, 2009 by
Vera from Oconomowoc,WI
“ Clean, beautifully cared for, friendly staff. Beach was fabulous. ” Oct 5, 2009 by
May from Mountain View,CA
“Overall, my experience at this hotel met my expectations and matched the price I bid.” Oct 3, 2009 by
Marjorie Vaught from Las Cruces,NM
“We were pleasantly surprised by quality of hotel. We read mixed reviews but it's one the best hotels we've ever stayed at. Beautifully designed room, hotel & facility. Ideal location looking directly at ocean and minutes from Front Street where all local attractions are located. Hotel is private (rarely saw children) and luxurious...highly recommend & very affordable.” Sep 29, 2009 by
Kathy from Capistrano Beach,CA
“I would never give this hotel 3 1/2 stars. I think at the most it is 2 1/2. Maybe 20 years ago this hotel could be classified as 3 1/2 stars. The rooms were old and musty smelling. There were cracks in the mirror. The shower was either not cleaned or there were permanent brown stains in the shower. The pipes made a very loud crying screeching sound anytime you flushed the toilet. The toilet also overflowed the second time we used it. This was not worth the money that's for sure.” Sep 21, 2009 by
Julie from Belmont,CA
“We had a great stay here and would definitely go back. Our room was great and to our surprise we were upgraded to an ocean view. The staff was friendly, beds were comfortable, and the grounds were beautiful.” Aug 25, 2009 by
chana from Baltimore,MD
“great place to stay! we got upgraded to a nicer room” Jun 28, 2009 by
Jon from Salt Lake City,UT
“The Royal Lahaina resort hotel is a great property to relax without the feeling of being in the central tourist hotel in Lahaina/Kaanapali. The tower is a very upscale hotel room with a lanai that provides you a beautiful view overlooking the water and mountain side. The cottage rooms are very rustic and reminded me of country style living.” Jun 16, 2009 by
Maridyth from Enumclaw,WA
“Good value. Very friendly and helpful staff. A little dated but very clean.” Jun 2, 2009 by
David from Honolulu,HI
“Quaint hotel on a great secluded beach, with typical Hawaiian service.” Jun 1, 2009 by
Sen from Fremont,CA
“Our first impression of this hotel was that it was beautiful and had such a fantastic location. Unfortunately for us, we were not Japanese tourists and were treated very differently because of this. We didn't even receive a smile from the front desk staff and were treated as if we were interrupting him. In our hotel in Maui, my grandmother was lent a wheelchair for mobility and treated with respect, while here at the Hyatt, we were treated as a nuisance. This was very surprising and upsetting.” May 26, 2009 by
Rick from Issaquah,WA
“Very nice, newly renovated rooms. Great location. Great views from Lanai.” May 15, 2009 by
Muhammadiyah from Kula,HI
“Slow elevator or not we had a wonderful stay. The exterior of the hotel seemed dated, however, the room was up to date and comfy.” Apr 22, 2009 by
Mason from Melrose,MA
“Lovely beach. Nice pool and dining areas. Room was small and bathroom tiny. Linens were excellent. Large towels and down comforter.” Mar 7, 2009 by
Jen from Renton,WA
“Our stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort was excellent! They have friendly staff members and offered free and fun activities for all ages. Our beautiful room, over-looking the ocean, was so comfortable and clean. I would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family.” Feb 26, 2009 by
Warren from Redwood City,CA
“Very nice hotel - would stay again. Stay in the tower, the garden cottages appeared to be outdated and in need of upgrading.” Feb 14, 2009 by
Kris from Spokane,WA
“We stayed at this resort approx 4 years ago before the remodel of the rooms. The rooms are much nicer after the remodel. However, we found that the on site eating facilities were inadequate. Their was one outside bar next to the ocean but is closes at sundown. All patrons who still want to have a drink are forced to drink at the resort restaurant/bar, which is the only one on site. We found that the housekeepers were more friendly than the front desk staff. The remodel was nice but the customer service was poor at best. We had stayed at the Sheraton, also on Kaanapali Beach, for 2 weeks prior to our stay at the Royal Lahaina and found it to be much more satisfying.” Feb 12, 2009 by
Bill from Reno,NV
“Overall great stay. Nice room. Great view. Clean and friendly. The luau at the hotel was great too.” Dec 17, 2008 by
Thanasak from Honolulu,HI
“Overall is good and meet more than `80% of my expectation.” Dec 4, 2008 by
Bill from Denver,CO
“Great value for money but take into account location. Most activities apart from golf take almost an hour to reach from the resort. Excellent views and amenities.” Nov 18, 2008 by
Lois from Houston,TX
“Very friendly staff, nice rooms with a good view and great beach. Good value.” Nov 17, 2008 by
Micha from Mountain House,CA
“The Royal Lahaina has recently been remodeled and with fantastic results! The beds were so comfortable that I called after my return home to ask what kind of mattresses they use. (Serta presidental) The Sharper Image alarm clocks were a nice feature as they had nature sounds and iPod hookups. The rooms are spacious and quiet. The beach and two pools are merely a walk into the back yard. I loved the experience and definitely plan on staying there again!” Nov 15, 2008 by
Lindsey from Apo,AE
“We had a wonderful time at this hotel, we would definitely return. The beach was practically deserted, and we were walking distance to shops and restaurants.

“My friends and I were very pleased with our stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The staff was courteous and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The pools were outstanding and the access to the beach was excellent. The rooms were very cozy and well-stocked with toiletries. I LOVED that they restocked with shampoo and conditioner before we ran out as most hotels skimp on these toiletries. The food at every meal was excellent. They have lots of fresh options to choose from and I was never disappointed. The parking was expensive for guests and often crowded. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I would love to visit the resort again.” Nov 2, 2008 by

“Beautiful room, and beautiful beach, but pool was small and uninteresting with a very small pool/patio area. All rooms in the tower have an ocean view. We were on the 6th floor and still found the noise offensive. Employees were very helpful. Property overall was very quiet and nicely landscaped. An older property but with a sense of an older, slower Hawaii.” Sep 11, 2008 by
George from Highland, UT
“Excellent hotel for the money. The recently renovated rooms are first class. Very clean and comfortable. The hotel front desk staff was very helpful.” Sep 9, 2008 by
Jennifer
“Great hotel. The rooms have just been remodels and they are beautiful. The walls are thick and you can not hear a thing. Excellent location. It is right on the beach, on the left side of Black Rock. Easy walk to major hotels, activities and shopping on Kanapali Beach. Mostly couples staying here. Not so good for single people or children.” Sep 6, 2008 by
Naomi from Austin, TX
“I loved the layout of the Royal Lahina. It's an older hotel, but very well kept. It definitely felt like a real resort and ways easily navigated. The pools were kind of small, but there were three of them. They could use a few extra lounge chairs. They were also a little dirty, but something that is hard to help when you are right on the beach. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Their luau was wonderful and the restaurant and bar staff was great!” Sep 3, 2008 by
Darlene from Houston, TX
“We loved the resort. It felt like old Hawaii. The food was very good, especially their pastries. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also had dinner entertainment which was very nice and you could watch the beautiful sunset as you ate. We went back to eat there for our anniversary dinner after we had checked out and was staying at a time share resort.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Barb from Blaine, MN
“The furniture in our room was contemporary, bedding was excellent, quality and comfortable. Air-conditioning worked well. They cut up our pineapple for us and would not accept a tip. Their Luau was the best on the beach.” Aug 19, 2008 by
Marty from San Leandro, CA
“Friends stayed at the Sheraton and liked our hotel better than there is.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Jh from Tigard, OR
“Great location, one of the best beaches on Maui. Excellent snorkeling only steps away from the resort.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Jennifer from San Pedro, CA
“The Royal Lahaina Resort was better then I could have ever expected. I stayed only one night there, but I wish I could have stayed for my whole trip. The lobby is beautiful and the pineapple water was such a great touch! I love being able to take pictures of the ocean from my room and being able to just step outside into the warm ocean waters of Maui was even better! I will stay here again. I work in the hotel industry and you will not be disappointed!” Aug 12, 2008 by
Craig from Hilliard, OH
“Great hotel to stay, clean, good location, nice facilities.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Ernest from Los Angels, CA
“Beautiful room on the 3rd floor. Great location near Black Rock-one of the best snorkel places.” Aug 8, 2008 by
Cyn from Andover, MA
“Our room was excellent, spacious, clean, everything I wanted it to be. There was no fitness center on site which was a huge issue for my husband. He cannot work out in the bright sun as he has very fair skin and even though we are in Hawaii, he can manage quite nicely to do everything without over exposure. However, to run or jog or whatever out in the hot sun is not something he can do. So, he was very disappointed to find there was nothing on site. I found the hotel to be a little remote, but it was fine for the few days we were there.” Aug 6, 2008 by
Julie from Bklyn, NY
“Excellent hotel. Parking should be complimentary since there is nowhere else to park. Beautiful room and reception staff very helpful and accommodating.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Grace from Fremont, CA
“Beautiful rooms and convenient location just north of Black Rock. Excellent snorkeling a little north of the property. Their Luau is really popular and always crowded. Their free onsite activities were amazing, we attended the cooking demonstration and just loved it. The pools could be bigger and better quality but with so much to do in the area, it's not a huge problem.” Jul 30, 2008 by
Walter from Dallas, TX
“In my view the hotel is a 2.5 or 3 star hotel with 4 star rooms. It is in a great location.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Bill from Astoria, NY
“The renovated rooms were of excellent quality. The staff was friendly and helpful.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Dan from Longmont, CO
“Excellent staff, newly updated facility, excellent views of golf course and ocean. Very nice beach with docile waves, good for all ages. Will definitely return to this hotel. Only negative was the hot tub was antiquated and away from the beach area.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Terry from Chanlder, AZ
“Wonderful place staff very friendly and helpful rooms and views outstanding will come again and again.” Jul 22, 2008 by
John from Sammamish, WA
“Great location in Kannapali right on a spectacular Sandy beach. Near golf, restaurants, Lahaina and other preferred areas to visit (e.g. Kapalua Bay). The hotel has invested quite a lot in remodeling the rooms and they show it. Much more modern that the hotel which we stayed at for four nights.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Missy from San Diego, CA
“The Royal Lahina has modern beautiful rooms and the hotel is located on a quiet beach away from the very crowded beaches of other Kaanapali hotels.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Ainslie from Burke, VA
“The Royal Lahina Resort is a wonderful, welcoming place to stay on Maui. The staff is courteous and friendly, and always goes the extra distance to make guests comfortable. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The bathrooms are well-designed. Even the daily room service people are courteous and helpful.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Ken from Kailua, HI
“A bit off the beaten path of Kannapolis, this hotel has very nice rooms, comfortable bed, but if you are looking for amenities for the 16 hours you are awake and outside of the hotel room (pool, beach, lush tropical grounds, etc). Then you are better off going to the name brand resorts down the street. If all you care about is a nice clean room, then this is for you.”
