• The pools, falls, hot tubs were a hit. The kids loved the koi.
• The water slide was not clean.

“We loved the pools, & restaurant. Our view to the mountain was ok, a little disappointing. The kids did like to sit on the terrace 1st thing in the morning. The ponds with koi were enjoyed by all.”

• Beautiful grounds and location, friendly staff and I loved the free Mai Tais.
• My room was at the end of a hallway next to an exit door which slammed when people would close it.

“Located on the eastern coast of Kauai, the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort is convenient to attractions on both the north and south sides of rugged Kauai. While minutes from the airport, it's snuggled down by a quiet beach in the town of Lihue. The on site dining is terrific and the friendly and gracious staff are more than willing to clue you in to their favorite secret restaurants on the island for those who want to explore the local cuisine. Hilton recently purchased this property and after a significant investment have given it a full makeover so much so that it looks like it was built from the ground up to cater to your needs.”

• Good air conditioning, nice hot tubs, pools, great rooms.
• Hot tubs closed very early in the night, and the bar could stay open later.

“Great hotel it will exceed your expectations as far as giant bathroom, good shower, spacious room, powerful air conditioning, etc. The leisure areas include pools, hot tubs, outdoor bars, and more. It is in a good location with a view of the water.”

“This resort more than met my expectations. It is beautifully kept and up to date. It was wonderful to relax and hear the ocean and see the whales as you sat on the lanai for breakfast.”

• Not quite enough parking.

“The hotel was in a great location for us - only 5 minutes from the airport but didn't hear any of the planes. It was only about an hour to Waimea Canyon and we also drove north of Lihue. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. We didn't take advantage of the beach or pools so can't even comment on them.”

• The bed and linens were excellent quality. I usually have trouble sleeping in a strange hotel, but not this one. Slept like a baby.
• Couldn't stay long enough!

“We only stayed from 10p.m. to 4:30am. The Staff made us feel like home. Courteous, warm and attended to our needs. Room was clean orderly with ample storage, hair dryer, iron + board. Bath room was clean and in order. Everything worked within the room as it should have. Check out was easy and the ride to the airport was pleasant and on time. I'd stay again.”

“The resort has very nice rooms with pleasant views and an excellent beach location for long walks. The ocean is not useable for all but the strongest of swimmers. Excellent location relative to traveling the island.”

• Beautiful beach front location, lush landscaping, 24 hour food, no need to leave the resort.
• The rude heavyset man sitting at the guest services desk & rude store clerk.

“Highly recommend this hotel for solo, business & leisure travelers. Spa, stores, swimming pools, bars, restaurants, room service, places for solitude & quiet, accommodating & professional staff for the most part, awesome beach front locale, walking & running paths, close to golf courses. My husband golfed for 3 straight days & I soaked up the sun at the beach front & pools, never leaving for those 3 days.”

“The beach adjoining the hotel is really bad. At best, one can take a walk but cannot get into water at all. Hilton got it's location really bad in kauai. Breakfast was okay. Room and other facilities do match up. The staff was especially helpful in extending my check out time by 2 hours at no additional cost .”

• Clean friendly and the price was right. Restaurant was excellent.
• Some of the outdoor furniture was dirty with worn cushions.

“After a long flight to Lihue, it was a convenient location for a quick rest before moving on to our planned vacation on the west side of the island. The gym was very nice along with the restaurant. The pools were clean as was the room. I would stay there again without hesitation. Great place for the family with kids who like the water because the water slide and beach pool was perfect for the little ones. Staff was excellent.”

• No direct access to a good beach.

• Parking lot often full. Long walk from lot to hotel.

“The Hilton is a very nice property only about 2 miles north of the main airport. It is centrally located for trips to both the north and south shores of the island. Pools are somewhat small but very relaxing. The beach, while attractive is not one for swimming due to rocks and strong currents. Be warned, the Hilton is in the Kauai beach resorts complex. There are no signs on the main road telling you the Hilton is down this road.”

• Wonderful resort, great service, very clean and attractive.
• Fire / smoke alarm was missing. Staff replaced it, and it randomly sent out alarm whistle until I unplugged it.

“We chose the hotel because it's proximity to the airport - we wanted a convenient place to stay as our flight arrived late in the evening. Although we stayed just one night, we had dinner, breakfast, swam in the pool and got to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.”

• Beach was not worth swimming.

“I recommend the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort. Located equidistant between the north shore and south resort area of Poipu. Nicely manicured grounds and well-appointed large rooms. Skip the evening torch lighting and hula performance - it was not worth the time. Very friendly staff and upgraded us with our Hilton Honors preferences. They even allowed us the use of a Hospitality Suite the evening before our flight to shower and change, even though we had checked out hours before. Don't bother with the beach though - it is not worth swimming and there are many superior beaches on Kauai's north shore.”

• I enjoyed the pool deck area and happy hour at the driftwood grill.
• Outside noises easily penetrated the hotel room walls.

“The hotel is located on a beach; however it is full of coral and cannot be used. In order to enjoy being on the beach you would need to drive 5-10 minutes to the closest sand beach. On the good side, they have a nice pool deck and happy hour was a plus. I used the hotel mainly as a place to stay and not a place to fully entertain myself and my wife. It is located equidistance from activities on the north shores and the south shores, so it was ideal in that respect.”

“Old looking hotel that needs modernization in its public areas. It was below the standard of other Hilton's that I have stayed at in the mainland. The rooms were nicely furnished, but everything else looked as it were out of the 1970's. The fitness center / spa were below par of other Hilton's that I have stayed at. The grounds were a mess and need to be cleaned up. There is no wireless internet or regular internet in the guest rooms which is bad for business travelers. It was not romantic at all either so not a good choice for a romantic getaway. I was upset about being confronted with that upon arrival. The hotel doe snot allows for late checkout and the hospitality room they offered was not clean. Substandard for typical Hilton quality overall”

“A good hotel to keep in the program. Did not like the resort fees since I believe a hotel should put the price for a room in the price for a room. In my mind, resort fees are a form of bait and switch advertising.”

“Beautiful room, helpful friendly staff although they should put more staff at the front desk during peak times as there was a lot of backup. I could get wifi in my room as long as there weren't allotting of people using the service. ”

“Very nice property and helpful staff. I would like to say that for another property in Maui called the Aston Maui Lu, horrible property. It was located on the beach which was nice but it was very old and the furniture was very dirty, I might be a little hesitant to use.”

• Some of the areas like the car park need some maintenance.

“We stayed there for 3 nights. The rooms are wonderfully appointed and well-maintained. This hotel also has evening local shows by the swimming pool and cocktail receptions which I find truly wonderful!”

“Very friendly staff; nice for a small resort, but not a place I would want go if I were just hanging out all day. A great base for island sightseeing. Nice pools, and surfers on the beach. Jogging trail on site and good exercise room/spa. Nice bar with nightly entertainment. Even the Hyatt does not have a swimming beach.”

• Very family friendly hotel. Staff was exceptional. Traveled w/ husband 2 & 5yr olds. All had a great time.

“Exceptionally family friendly. The valet's let my daughters feed the koi fish every day while we were waiting for our car. Beautiful pools and evening shows. Nice happy hour too. Gym is outdated and could use new equipment otherwise excellent stay. My daughters are 2 and 5 and they had a great time.”

• Was being renovated.

“Staff was great!! We're told we would receive champagne for our honeymoon later that night but it was not in our room. We did not bother since it was only one night. Our flight was at 10PM, it was great they had a hospitality suite were we could shower and change while they stored our luggage all day.”

“no one seems happy to see you. What ever you asked the are quick to say no. I called the night before the world cup to see if they would play it at the bar. they had no clue what the world cup was. In the morning I asked if they could turn the TV in the bar on to watch the world cup and they were quick to say no.”

• Beautiful beach and hotel. Intimate setting and not a huge mega hotel environment.
• A little bit older.

“Charming and intimate setting. Lovely pool and public areas. Not the glamour of the mega resort. Easy to find from airport. Would recommend to others.”

• 20 words not enough. under construction- loud noises early morning- pool area demolished- scaffolding all in front and back of hotel.

“I was going to contact you when I went home. Where do I send the video I took of the hotel. The construction noise woke us up at 7am every morning We could not swim in that beach and the out door activities to teach us how to surf was on hiatus. we were not able to do any of them also when we paid the person in the hotel to go out and do out door activities with another company since ours was closed they did not have us on the right date to rent. A TV's and the food in the restaurant was expensive and not good. I am looking forward to your response I am surprised you allow your customer to end up in hotel with major construction. I am in another one of your hotels right now and it is once again under construction”

• Front desk staff and valets very friendly. Easter egg hunt was nice. Good beach area and access.
• Put us in a room, on a floor with obvious water damage. Hot tub not working, pools cold.

“Lobby and public areas nice. Entire floor and room were musty, mold in picture frames, wallpaper peeling. Obvious water damage throughout. Only one common area hot tub, and it wasn't filled. Swimming pools were cold, not as kid-friendly as most we've seen. Don't stay here until all renovations are completed - This hotel lodges patrons in areas "under construction".”

“We were not told hotel was being remodeled. Only one of three pools was open. Spa was closed and will be for several months. Paths and landscape were incomplete; some areas had to be walked around. Some of the buildings were closed. The listing showed it was a Hilton, but the turnover had not happened yet. We were not informed there was a $7+ per day for parking until we arrived. The rate we paid was $160/day. A fair rate for this and the situations mentioned should have been around $120.”

• The staff was great.
• A lot of construction in all areas of the hotel.

“The staff was great, very friendly. However, the construction was not minor, it was everywhere from the pool closures to the stairways to the property to the room view. We got a nice room in the newer part of the hotel however our view was obstructed by huge construction supplies. Overall, the hotel was nice, would have been a lot nicer if there was not so much construction going on. If you are looking for a swim able beach, this hotel is also not a good choice, the water is not swim able, the beach is mainly more just to look at or walk on. I wish that we would have known that the construction was so extensive, the friendly staff was a nice touch.”
