“Large upscale resort, clean and comfortable large rooms. Bathroom was very clean and large. superb beach with excellent snorkeling. Great golf course, scenic, good conditioning, challenging. Breakfast buffet had good food, fair price. A la carte menu food was very good. Friendly, helpful staff throughout the hotel. $15 a day charge for personal parking was too high.” Dec 3, 2009 by

“The bathroom was beautiful.” Nov 22, 2009 by

“Clean rooms with upscale amenities, wonderful private beach and friendly staff.” Nov 19, 2009 by

“This is a good hotel in a great location. The hotel is 15 years old, but is not showing its age other than in color selection. Pool area is excellent size, with a location right on one of the top beaches in Hawaii.” Nov 2, 2009 by
Bobbie from Honomu,HI
“This hotel was very nice, although the elevator from the parking lot does not take you to the lobby to check in. It's actually kind of a weird set up and you need to walk really far to get to the lobby. The pool was warm also. Other than that, our stay was OK. I would like to see Priceline offer a different hotel also, aside from Happing Prince.” Oct 18, 2009 by
J from Washington,DC
“Excellent resort on one of the best beaches in the nation. Hotel has a bit corporate feeling, but still high quality experience.” Oct 8, 2009 by

“I'm not sure if they gave us a room in an old wing, but the room looked like it hadn't been updated since 1990. The decor was more than dated. This wasn't such a problem, since we were only there for 1 night, actually, 12 hours. The bathroom is where the real problem was. Not only dated, but dirty. The shower stall had mildew all over it, in huge black globs. May have been mold too. The bath tub had giant cracks in the tile surrounding it, that lead to holes in the wall. The baseboard had 1/4 inch of dust and grime on it. All in all, this place needs an overhaul. The upside was that we were there for 12 hours only.” Sep 4, 2009 by

“The Hapuna Prince fronts beautiful Hapuna Beach. If you plan to be outdoors all day, the Hapuna Prince is a great option. The beach and pool were both lovely. The rooms are showing their age and need renovation. The hotel and it's partner, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel share restaurants and have a shuttle that run between the two. There were a lot of people at the beach and pool during the day, but the hotel felt fairly deserted. Overall, it's a nice place to stay.” Sep 2, 2009 by
Nicole from San Dimas,CA
“The hotel was beautiful and the beach was gorgeous. The beach was never crowded. I would have been nice if they had food and drink service down at the beach. Although the pool restaurant is fairly close. The lanai was very nice to sit on at night and listen to the waves. The staff was friendly and accommodating and was able to move someone who was supposed to check-in into our room to a different room so we could have a late check-out. We also got a bag with a book and some toys for our toddler when we checked-in.” Aug 31, 2009 by
Paul Maka from San Francisco,CA
“AMAZING! Loved everything about it. BEAUTIFUL!” Aug 31, 2009 by

“Pretty lobby and facilities however rooms were outdated.” Aug 27, 2009 by

“I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere love it.” Aug 22, 2009 by
Marty from Draper,UT
“This hotel was near a great beach and looked grand from the outside. I was not impressed with the room. It was not what I would expect from a resort. It was okay, but not worth the money if I paid through the hotel.” Aug 14, 2009 by
Matt from Geneva,IL
“Overall an average resort. Beach, pool and golf are great. Four restaurants were shut down because of the economy. They also don't like price line customers so don't ask for a room type or they will give you the opposite. They also don't have free parking anymore.” Jul 28, 2009 by
Patrick from Hilo,HI
“A beautiful place for a spontaneous romantic get away.” Jul 13, 2009 by
Robert from Honolulu, HI
“Crew staff, rooms old, itchy from bed sheets, mildew smell, bed covers re-used, had sour smell. Bathroom had mildew on shower walls and dust/hair on marble floor, cracked tiles in shower. Wallpaper coming apart on walls and near ceiling. No ice machines need to call room service for ice. Hotel staff seems to have a low moral that definite reflects on the service level and customer experience. And this is a 4 star hotel? Save your $ avoid this hotel!” Jun 12, 2009 by
Liz from Moraga,CA
“Beautiful hotel, room we stayed in a little worn with mildew/mold in shower grout, garden view room left something to be desired, grass and shrubs (one half brown) outside lanai except for one, staff very friendly and helpful. One even cut up a mango that my son had bought, arranged it on a plate and topped it with an orchid!” Jun 4, 2009 by
Sarah from Paso Robles,CA
“Loved the hotel, great room, great beach.” Jun 4, 2009 by
Ethan from Valencia,CA
“There is essentially two places to eat at this hotel. One little cafe where you can get typical un-healthy fare of sandwiches or pizza and a pricey restaurant that is huge, but nearly 75% closed off because of low patron attendance. This means you need to fight to get a reservation at the only restaurant at the hotel when they serve dinner for 4 hours at the few tables staffed by the few waiters. Your only alternative is to travel by shuttle to an equally expensive hotel next door for the same situation. Otherwise, you need to drive 10 miles or so away to another resort complex. Bring food. You will be hungry or broke if you buy all of your meals at the one restaurant during designated (short) meal periods.” Jun 3, 2009 by
Erkin from Framingham,MA
“Fitness center is free, Jun 3, 2009 by

“This hotel has suffered tremendously due to the economic slowdown. Restaurants are closed, the place is empty, rooms smell mildewy from underuse. I'm sure it will eventually be improved once tourists begin to travel again, but it is in tough shape now.” May 14, 2009 by
Sherry from Hilo,HI

“Wonderful location, comfortable, well appointed room and friendly staff in a genuine way.” Apr 14, 2009 by
from New York,NY
“The room was lovely, really a great ocean view as there was simply another building in front which blocked just a small part of the ocean view. Staff all attentive and very happy and helpful. The only disappointment was the food. The Coast Grille was expensive and the food uninspired.” Apr 13, 2009 by
Elizabeth from Hilo,HI
“Beautiful hotel with nice view. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not much around the resort so you have to travel a bit to get to shops/restaurants outside of hotel grounds.” Apr 8, 2009 by
Dan from Arvada,CO
“I will return to this hotel! It was perfect.” Apr 7, 2009 by
Timothy from Keaau,HI
“Its a beautiful hotel the staff was very friendly. But everything was so far away. We ate at the Ocean Terrace and for the money it wasn't that good. It was totally over priced at $70.00 per head for buffet. There wasn't a selection of stores or gift shops around. But the rooms were really nice and we had a good time.” Apr 3, 2009 by
Danielle from Arlington,VA
“This is a classic beach resort with a beautiful pool and the best beach on the island. We would return in a minute as we enjoyed it the most of our visit to four islands! It is a little remote but if you are there for beach and relaxation, this is the place. Golfers would also like the area.” Mar 14, 2009 by
from Nashville,TN
“Hapuna Beach features prominently in everything about this resort. Being part of the Mauna Kea Resort makes staying at the pince feel much more luxurious than if the Prince were by itself.” Mar 2, 2009 by
Elizabeth from Baton Rouge,LA
“The most beautiful and friendly hotel at which I've ever stayed.” Feb 22, 2009 by
Jack from Anaheim,CA
“Not much happening besides the beach, but it's a great beach.” Feb 19, 2009 by
Rozelle from Ventura,CA
“Great place to stay! Loved the room, the bathroom was the best! No fee to self park as there is with most other resorts and hotels in Kona. Great breakfast buffet! Wonderful service! Will visit again!” Feb 15, 2009 by
Jeff from Raymore,MO
“ Hotel was spectacularly beautiful on a beautiful location. The room and bed were unbelievably comfortable. ” Feb 9, 2009 by

“Beautiful. But it was sad to see the place so empty. We can only hope that this economic times will turn around again soon.” May 28, 2008 by

“This hotel was beautiful, I will surely return hopefully once the repairs are completed.” Feb 13, 2008 by

“This was the most bomb fresh hotel I have gone to Hawaii for 8 years running and this was the best hotel I have stayed at I was in the top floor suite and the hotel lobby is the coolest ever. they came to great us at the door and she gave us fresh squeezed guava passion and a moist towel! now that's service.” Feb 12, 2008 by
Todd from Blaine, WA
“Beautiful location and hotel.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Paul from Evansville, IN
“I liked the overall experience but was very upset with what the hotel does. They have a Meade 10 or 12" telescope, which a $30 fee is occurred to meet at an observing session. As an astronomer, I was disappointed. Breakfast was $28 a person and continental breakfast was $25. The same thing you get for free at most hotels.” Jan 26, 2008 by
Maureen from Burlingame, CA
“Came here to celebrate my 40th birthday, and was not disappointed. The beachside location was perfect, the staff friendly and efficient, and did I mention the gorgeous beach? They have a beautiful pool & spa, too, and at least 2 bars where you can sip fruity tropical beverage of your choice while watching the sunset over the ocean. Fantastic!” Oct 5, 2007 by
Cynthia from Foster City, CA
“This Hotel had everything we needed within a short walk. Pool, Beach, and you didn't feel crowded at all. Rooms and Bath are spacious and nicely situated. Was perfect!” Sep 4, 2007 by
Mary from Coppell, TX
“The lobby is huge, and overlooks the ocean. The hotel is nice, grand, relaxing, but isolated.” Sep 2, 2007 by
Jungeun from Irvine, CA
“It was beautiful and romantic hotel. It had great beach for taking a rest. All staffs were very friendly. But its location is isolated from shops or public area so it was inconvenient.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Sean from Coachella, CA
“The Hapuna Prince is an excellent hotel that will allow you to relax in paradise.” Jun 14, 2007 by
Matt from Truckee, CA
“The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ocean views were wonderful. Guest room was larger than I expected and had a private deck with partial ocean view. Hapuna beach is the best beach I have seen on the Hawaiian Islands. The shady, grassy areas bordering the sandy beach provided a nice break from the sun. The only negative is the cost to eat at any of the restaurants. If you want to spend less than $50 on a meal, the nearest off-site food is 8-9 miles away.” May 20, 2007 by
Brian from Plymouth, MN
“This was a beautiful resort, but it comes with its share of problems. The rooms, beach, and hotel grounds are wonderful. However, the hotel itself is a bit too remote (50 minutes from kona), which means it's a long drive to anywhere. Also, the facilities are limited- only one pool and very limited restaurant choices. In addition, the facilities seem to close regularly without warning (during our stay the hotel pool was closed for a day, and both dinner restaurants were closed for two days straight). Also were numerous hotel maintenance issues, and the sister resort (Mauna kea) is closed completely. Management seems poor/uncoordinated which is a shame, because it's a beautiful facility.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 28, 2007 by

“This resort speaks beauty. However the staff for the most part was not friendly and made several mistakes on our stay. The manager was off putting and unhelpful. On top of the horrible service, my father sent chocolate covered strawberries as a surprise to our room the first night. Well, there was no note attached and we had no idea where they came from. We thought it came with the room. To my embarrassment, my dad wondered if we got them because I hadn't said anything when speaking to him. We were really upset so my fiancé went to a friendly front desk man and explained the situation. That there had been a lot of mix ups at the resort but this was a matter of principle and we will not let this go. He was kind enough to take care of this matter. But not worth the hassle. You do not pay for what you get with the service that is for sure. Beware!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 28, 2007 by

“We greatly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel has access to several beautiful beaches and great snorkeling. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's a resort, so expect to pay more for food and internet access, etc. On the whole, we were very pleased.” Mar 8, 2007 by
Bobbie from Albuquerque, NM
“This is The Hawaii vacation that people dream about. Crystal clear pool, soft, sandy beach, just right for body surfing, boogie boards, young and old. The staff are friendly, and oh so eager to help make your stay as idyllic as possible. Spa facilities are clean and up-to-date, but most of all having access to two of the most beautiful beaches in the world, much less North America, make this a place to return to year after year.” Feb 21, 2007 by
Mark from San Jose, CA
“I've stayed at most of the big resorts on the koala coast multiple times, including twice at the happen beach. My favorite is the orchid. The prince has a great location on a beautiful beach, but lacks personality. It¿s a bit too large in both architectural and physical scale and zoom rooms are quite a hike from the beach. Quality of staff varies a fair bit. The fitness center and spa area is a 5 minute walk away across the street. ”
