“This hotel is great. The hotel grounds are amazing. The pool is very large and the beach is right in front. I highly recommend having a beach massage. I would return to this hotel again.” Feb 19, 2008 by
Matt from Fox Point, WI
“Hotel was very nice; however, we were not pleased with the room. Was a room with no view or no balcony--it faced the back of the building. Not very exciting or romantic for a hotel in Hawaii. We would have rather paid a similar price for a room with a good view or balcony at a lower star quality.” Feb 18, 2008 by
Terry from Phoenixville, PA
“A very nice Marriott Resort with excellent accommodations.” Feb 16, 2008 by
Carla from Bella Vista, AR
“Beautiful hotel and setting. Love Duke's restaurant. Part of golf course closed due to construction. Also construction on parking requires valet or using shuttle. Hotel charges a daily parking fee.” Feb 14, 2008 by
Andrew from Sunnyvale, CA
“Hotel has very nice grounds and great pool (although a bit too shallow (at most 4ft deep). The quality of room will depend on the room type. The rooms with ocean and pool views are decent. The room w/o a view is very old and hasnt been renovated in awhile. The Italian cafe, Cafe Portofino, near the resort is also really good.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Michelle from Albuquerque, NM
“The resort is located near the airport but this was not a problem as we only once hear any plane nice The room we were initially given was not very nice. It was small and the bathroom was tiny. The windows looked out on to a concrete wall. We discovered a lot of ants in our room when we checked in and instead of offering to move us, they had someone come spray. The room then smelled terribly so I went to the front desk to ask for a different room. They moved us but said we would have to move back to the original room the next day b/c they were full. Our second room was a garden view (really viewed the back maintenance area) and was much nicer. It was roomier and the bathroom was very nice. The second day, we had a bell man pick-up our bags since we were told we couldn't stay in that room. When we got back that evening to get ready to attend a luau, we went to the front desk to get keys to our room for the night and they gave us the room we had had the night before, so we didn't need to use the bell man after all. The only problem was that it then took 1 1/2 hrs to get our bags. Overall, whenever I called them about a problem, they said they were busy and were not very apologetic. The couple days there were stressful at times due to the way the hotel handled things. I was not impressed overall.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Brian from Wayne, NJ
“It was nice, but not 5 star! We arrived late and could NOT get a bottle of water anywhere, vending machines were empty! ALL OF THEM and this was a resort? The staff tried to be helpful but they just didn't know there own hotel. IE: our room had internet, they didn't know. I had to search for the outlet. They do laundry, front desk did not know this. Rooms were cleaned ONCE, unless we paid extra to have this done. The pool is NOT heated! Ice cold. Little things like that nice hotel, just not for those that like to be pampered.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Kurtis from Billings, MT
“The Marriot is a beautiful place! We had the cheapest room in the hotel, but it was still luxurious. Staff are friendly. Nice restaurants on premises. Quiet. Lush gardens are in all open areas. Even though we were there in February, the huge pool seemed to be fairly pleasant. The beach is nice because it is, for the most part, private. The water is safe for everyone, 100 yards out and it's only chest deep, perfect for those who are a little nervous about being in the ocean.” Feb 2, 2008 by
Jo from Torrance, CA
“The hotel itself is very nice. This is a bit deceiving because there is no such room indicated on the hotel website so we are led to believe all rooms have balconies. The property itself is great though.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Michael from Glendale, AZ
“Beautiful property great housekeeping staff, valet staff member was very rude on a daily basis, was very disappointed by the room we were giving and everything on property was an up-sale were other Marriott it was complementary.” Jan 19, 2008 by
Robert from Moorpark, CA
“These people are crooks. Stuck us in the dungeon. Were willing to move us for an extra $350. I will never visit another Marriott as long as I live. All they care about is how much money they can steal from you.” Jan 5, 2008 by
Craig from Carthage, NY
“Our first two nights we had a garden view in a newer wing, but on our second visit we were given a standard room in the oldest tower. The difference was practically night (2star) and day. The kopi pool and daily AM feeding was great. As was the clover-shaped pool, BBQ-grills available, and the on-site Duke's Restaurant. If you have dinner at Duke's before 9pm, not only will you have phenomenal food, but their small Hawaiian trio will come over to your table and play your own request Beach is great, but we noticed a lot of locals (mostly teenagers) sneaking into the pool and Jacuzzi. Overall great hotel!” Dec 31, 2007 by
Cathy from Puyallup, WA
“Grounds are beautiful. Rooms smelled of mold. could not sleep with the strong smell. Also, our bathroom was very dirty. Seems it wasn't cleaned between guests.” Dec 15, 2007 by
Scott from Provo, UT
“Amazing hotel with all of the amenities.” Dec 15, 2007 by
Erich from Seattle, WA
“When you stay at the Marriott Kauai you know you're staying at a resort that was built long ago. The grounds are sprawling and just what we had in mind for a Hawaiian resort. But, the pervasive salmon coloring is a bit much. The bathrooms all need to be updated; the shower was cramped and dark, the counter was about knee high, and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling. The resort has about 4 restaurants on site, none were that remarkable. All told not awful, but if you don't mind being further from the airport, Id try someplace else.” Dec 2, 2007 by
James from Carson, CA
“It wasn't in the best shape with very small room and bathroom. Something you would expect in a 3 star hotel, not a resort. Maybe if we paid their higher rates, our room would have been better. Otherwise, the facility was top notch. Pricey restaurants were expected for a resort.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Carol from Marion, IA
“We love this hotel as this is the 4th time we stayed here. The pool is great and the location on Kalapaki bay is great. The beach is nice and the water is great for kids. It is nice that they offer the "linger longer" program which lets you stay, for a fee, in the room until 6 p.m. which is great for those late night flights from the island. That is particularly nice.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Nissa from Monrovia, CA
“The hotel grounds are immaculately maintained and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The pool is absolutely beautiful and there is convenient beach access.” Sep 5, 2007 by
Henry from Pittsburg, CA
“Other than the ocean view rooms on the upper floors (which you would pay a hefty premium for), the rest of the hotel was unacceptably dark, dingy, and very noisy. We had a miserable night's rest full of banging pipes, whistling ventilation, and other unidentifiable noises.” Sep 5, 2007 by
Doug from Hoboken, NJ
“The hotel had a nice pool area but was in need of an update. The staff was extremely slow and rude at times. We stayed in a room that looked directly at the air conditioning units and were woken up to people working on the vents. We pay additional fees to upgrade but the new room smelled like mold. I would never stay at this hotel again.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Jeff from Florence, NJ
“This was in a good location. A resort setting close by to the airport. It was quick to get out of the hotel. They have both self and valet parking. Self Parking was quite a walk but they do offer a shuttle service which is a surprise since the shuttle is operated by the same people who does the valet parking. The grounds are vell well kept and you'll see people working every day on the grounds.” Jul 16, 2007 by
Fei from Bethel, CT
“Hotel facilities were average, not resort quality. My room was a major disappointment. Also bathroom was tiny, vanity/sink was extremely tight and child height. Would not recommend based on price for value. Asked twice for a better room but was told that a standard room was the only one available based on my purchased price.” Jun 9, 2007 by
Neil from Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
“This could be one great resort hotel. But service was so slow it detracted from the friendliness and other qualities of the hotel. Waiting over two hours for our luggage was the worst. But everything was slow: car valet, concierge, etc. All did good jobs. But at their own pace.” Jun 5, 2007 by
Chris from Los Angeles, CA
“I'd recommend for a business traveler seeking accommodations close to the airport. Not for honeymooners or a couple looking for a nice vacation in Kauai.” May 29, 2007 by
Jimmy from Forest Hills, NY
“The hotel surroundings such as the pool and beach were beautiful. However, the room itself was not. The bed was way too soft. The bathroom sink is too low. The toilet was a bit runny. It didn't appeal to me like the normal Marriott hotels. The upside was the food and the helpful concierge, Chad. His recommendations were top notch.” May 16, 2007 by
Nomi from San Francisco, CA
“The room assigned to me at check in was awful. Windows didn't open, small, no desk. Paid $50 for an upgrade to a room with a sliding door (no view). The internet was down in the entire resort for a day. It seems like it can't decide if it's a family resort or a business/airport hotel and it does neither well. The pool is beautiful & the staff are very kind.” May 13, 2007 by
Brian from Stillwater, MN
“Everything was perfect except they would only give us a room with 2 double beds. So much for romance, it was more like being at camp sleeping in separate tents.” Apr 24, 2007 by
Jon from South Pasadena, CA
“Beautiful location, landscaping, and pool area. Hotel needs refurbishing/remodeling.” Feb 19, 2007 by
John from Brooklyn, NY
“The hotel is ideally located on a beautiful beach in a secluded cove only 1 mile from the airport. Despite the proximity of the landing planes we never suffered from noise as there was high ground between the hotel and the airport. The scenery was spectacular. The hotel grounds, which includes a private golf course, are well designed and maintained and include a wide variety of beautiful flowering trees, waterfalls, and koi ponds. The pool and beach areas merge seamlessly making it very easy to enjoy both. If you are looking for a quiet relaxed time you will be very pleased. If you are looking for something more livelily you will be disappointed. The hotel is quite secluded. There are not many shops, bars, or restaurants within walking distance. You will definitely need a car to enjoy any of the nearby attractions. This hotel is probably best enjoyed by a 2 or 3 day stay, anything longer and I think I would have become restless.” Jan 17, 2007 by
Lisa from Atlanta, GA
“Clean, modern, good room service and gorgeous beach. I like dukes restaurant as the food is good and service wonderful.” Jan 9, 2007 by
David from Ann Arbor, MI
“After receiving a room upgrade to compensate us for occasional planned power outages, we were very pleased with this hotel. The structures, gardens, pool, and beach were all beautiful and well-maintained.” Jan 1, 2007 by
Ted from Provo, UT
“They do not give you a resort room. This was not a resort; they did not even have room service while we were there. .” Dec 3, 2006 by
Kathy from Mercer Island, WA
“Beautiful hotel in beautiful setting, very close to airport. Sometimes concierge very helpful (i.e. printing boarding passes for airport), other times very cold regarding getting pool passes. Buffet food was marginal. Sandwiches at the outdoor grill were good. Was here for a conference. Meeting rooms were generally too cold!” Nov 13, 2006 by
Jacquie from Plaistow, NH
“This hotel was lovely. It surpassed my expectations - I will definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.” Feb 28, 2006 by
Lynn from Glendale, AZ
“Spectacular gardens, restaurant and beach.” Feb 11, 2006 by
John from Wasilla, AK
“Beautiful property that should be better in the future after repairs to parking lot are complete.” Nov 26, 2005 by
Charlie from Banning, CA
“Hotel was nice but not special. They charged us $ 40.00 per day extra to get a room with a view which ended up being on the 1st floor but by the pool. All in all I guess you do get what you pay for.” 0 of 2 people found this review helpful.Nov 7, 2005 by

“Excellent staff, excellent restaurant (Kukui's) for brunch. The hotel was the first on the island (1960s) and the most inexpensive rooms are in the old section without a view. You get what you pay for. The staff was great to myself and my wife and upgraded us on our arrival because there were no other rooms readily available. We had been traveling about 20 hours and that was a wonderful way to help us get settled in quickly. The pool is huge, the food was extremely good at the breakfast buffet. The beach is nice but not outstanding (like Poipu). The grounds are spotless with a wonderful koi pond with ducks, swans, etc...” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 1, 2005 by

“Kauai is a beautiful, calming respite from most tourist locales. The hotel is huge, lovely ambience, nice restaurant selection, has an acceptable business center, great location, total resort experience. The mountain view rooms are not really mountain view. Overall, a very nice stay.” Oct 31, 2005 by
Brandee from Toronto, CA
“The hotel itself was beautiful and well kept up. The rooms were slightly outdated though clean and well maintained. The staff were not friendly in general and gave us a particularly bad room facing an alley even though we were promised a honeymoon upgrade.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 31, 2005 by
C from Pasadena, CA
“The location was very convenient. The pool, the koi pond and the beach were wonderful. There were many activities to do without leaving the resort. It was great since we had our toddler with us. The restaurants were great and reasonably priced comparing to rest of the Island. However, some of the hallways smelled, probably due to the humidity. The clean sheets and pillows were NOT so clean sometimes (they smelled bad). We had to replaced them couple times after we had our room cleaned. The hotel needs to do something about the smells. Overall, it was good.” Oct 25, 2005 by
Nora from Carlsbad, CA
“When we arrived The Hotel room smelt really bad of mildew. We endend up changing rooms three times, because the second rooms bedspreads were very dirty, with stains and table cloth also. We wanted a CD player and they said they would put one in our room while they were spraying for the smell and then came back and said they could not. We wanted to eat Sushi and sent us in town to a place, but on our way back to Hotel they had a Sushi place above the pool area that they didn't mention to us. A friend of mine was trying to call to set up a message for a Birthday gift there at the hotel and they kept him on hold for 1/2 hour and never got back to him. He was calling from California. The Bar tender, the first night at the resturant by the pool was not happy to be there and gave everyone attitued. I use the Marriott for my clients wedding guests and this is the first Marriott that was just the worst and I would never send anyone there to that property.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 24, 2005 by

“The hotel is near city and airport, very convention good environment. It seem I got the smallest roome with no view in the hotel compared with other roome in the hotel ,and a evil number "666".” Oct 23, 2005 by
Jim from Honolulu, HI
“I was a business traveler, traveling with a colleague. There are no decent hotels for business travelers in town so this is the next best thing. The hotel is designed for the leisure tourist.” Oct 6, 2005 by
Tim from Tulsa, OK
“Nice hotel, but the room was not up to standard for a resort quality hotel. I feel like we were taken advantage of. The rooms that the Marriot provides are half the size of the normal rooms and the maintenance loading dock was above us. We had to keep the shades closed to keep the staff from looking down on us. ” Sep 28, 2005 by
Kathleen from Agoura Hills, CA
“Hotel has a great beach and wonderful pool. Two of the restaurants, Duke's and the Italian restaurant were avert good. The exercise facility was pretty than average, and had some nice classes for a small fee. The staff was very friendly. Great place.” Sep 27, 2005 by
Michelle from Waterford, MI
“Hotel is emasculate, beautiful. We toured Priceville and it wasn't nearly as nice as Marriott where we stayed. Only downfall is we got a room behind an elevator, made noises every once in a while and the room was a little outdated. Otherwise we were very pleased!” Sep 12, 2005 by
Ryan from Seattle, WA
“We booked our final two nights on Kauai at this resort, after staying the Dec 3, 2004 by
Wesley E. from Austin “The Marriott Kauai Resort is located on prime beachfront (Kalapaki Bay) in Lihue, the central town of Kauai. It has all the amenities and features you could reasonably expect of a top resort hotel: a knockout of a lobby (complete with koi-and-duck pond), a huge pool with five hydrotherapy spas on the edge of it, childrens' activities, restaurants, lounges and bars galore, all sorts of diversions for the adults, even a daily newsletter. It's no wonder so many of the guests feel little need to leave the resort during their stay (although it would be a shame not to explore this incredibly beautiful island while you're there). The hotel has high-speed internet access, but charges $12.95 for it! In spite of these concerns, my wife and I still liked this hotel, felt comfortable there, and would be happy to return.” Dec 3, 2004 by
Miranda S. from Chicago “This hotel has a gorgeous pool and private beach. Very nice, but drinks and food were a little pricey.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Hotel Representatives:
