• The location is perfect, a block away from the zoo and you can talk a 15 minute walk to Diamond Head, across the street from the beach.
• Nothing.

• Good location. Good name brand. Lots of stores/restaurants nearby.
• Mattress was old and too soft. poor comfort. Gym needs updating. Pool is small with no hot tub.

“Room was very small which is manageable but the bed was old and too soft. Had a mattress topper on it to assist in extending the use of the bed. Bed felt small for a Queen size. Next time I will go for a 3 star since that's what it felt like we were sleeping in anyways.”

• Both maid and pool guy woke us up at 8am. Plus we got a wrong number call at 5am.
• Breakfast wasn't included. The first Hertz rental car person wasn't helpful. I had to go to the Hyatt. The second one was nice.

“Good hotel. Two pools kind of small, good workout facility, ABC store in the hotel which was great. Very pretty hotel, sort of across the street from the beach. Great location, about a block from the zoo and walking distance to all the other hotel. Hertz rent-a-car in the hotel.”

• Most comfortable beds on the planet.
• Elevator service was very slow and they had problems when they tried to fix it.

“The hotel is in a tremendous location, right across from the sun bathing portion of the beach. They provided us with a free upgrade to a partial ocean view. The beds were the most comfortable that we had ever seen. Elevator service was painfully slow at times, and they tried to have a repairman fix them, which caused more problems. American hotels are funny in a few ways, and this one was no different. Local calls costing a dollar each is ridiculous, and having the most beautiful expensive HD televisions, but having snowy cable stations seems like a waste.”

• I felt rushed at times when I went to front desk & concierge. otherwise, housekeeping was friendly.

• Breakfast buffet was $27.00 pp which was more than the Prime Rib Buffet in the evening.

• Friendly room service staff. Wonderful beds and large flat screen. Near the action.
• They refused to let us use the luggage cart ourselves.

“I had a wonderful stay here except for the frustrations at check in when we were not allowed to use the luggage carts ourselves. We were tired, had just flown in with our toddler on the plane and had barely any cash on us in which to tip. I don't mind tipping when given service by hotel staff, but I don't appreciate being forced to use their services.”

• The bed and linens were exceptionally comfortable for a good night's sleep. Size of flat screen TV was especially pleasing.
• Room humidity was rather high given that another local hotel room the week before was acceptable.

“Our household is on a 3 star budget but, because there were no rooms available at that level, we had to upgrade to 4 star accommodations. While the increased quality was perceptible and, to a certain extent enjoyable, most of the luxury amenities were lost on us. Marriott was a beautiful hotel with personnel who try hard to serve their customers but, given a choice, we would have spent less money and happily settled for 3 star service.”

• I love the idea that the hotel is so clean and bed is more comfortable than my bed at home.
• The buffet food was very affordable but the entree didn't taste very good.

“This hotel is awesome; the staffs are friendly and very accommodating, from storing your luggage to providing you with toothpaste and toothbrush. You can even check in with your flights inside the hotel without and charges. Access to public transportation is across the street. Awesome. I am planning to go back soon.”

• The hotel was clean and attractive. It was close to the beach.
• The beds are extremely soft. If you have back troubles, this is not the place to stay.

• The Marriott has the most comfortable beds and pillows I have ever slept in!
• The traffic outside my window (Waikiki, Oahu) but that is not the hotel's fault.

“I had never stayed at a Marriott before but many people that I talked to recommended them. And I was told that their beds were wonderful. Sometimes hotel beds are hard and uncomfortable but the Marriott has the best. The decor was beautiful and the rooms were very clean! I loved it and would like to stay at Marriott hotels again because I feel that I would trust their service!”

• I liked the location, right across the beach, the shops and restaurants inside the hotel, the cleanliness, & got upgraded to a partial ocean view room.
• I didn't like the slow elevators (but it seems like they were repairing them), and I didn't like that parking was like $25 for hotel guests!

• Pool was extremely disappointing. Very small and in the shade half of the day.

“Hotel was mediocre. Pool was disappointing. Very small, no swim up bar and is in the shade of the hotel itself for half of the day. Not what I expect from a Marriott resort (we've stayed in several others which were far superior). Hotel's beach access is across a busy street. This is a public beach which is extremely crowded with non-hotel guests, including numerous homeless people. On a positive note, two of the restaurants we tried were excellent. Sansei (seafood/ sushi) and Arrancino (Italian/ pizza). I think this hotel could be well suited to business travelers, but misses the mark as a family friendly resort. I'm sad to say that this trip was a bit of a disappointment.”

“We had a great stay at the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful; the property is clean and well kept. We live in Hawaii and although they are not directly on the beach, they have an excellent property and within a 1 minute walk to the ocean and restaurants. Great stay! Great value even better than the "locals" discount rates at the other guys!”

• The Hotel Cashier was so friendly and understanding. He was able to upgrade us to a room that had an ocean view. I was impressed.
• I have no negative comments about this hotel. I would love to stay there again.

“This Hotel is a very busy hotel with many travelers. Yet, the staff is well trained to work with individual traveler and make them feel special. I have stayed at many hotels and this one was clean, comfortable and the price was reasonable for the location. I will come back.”

• Location of hotel, room location and staff was very friendly and helpful.
• Elevator was tough to get at times. Long wait due to over crowded elevator.

“Enjoyed every aspect of the hotel, especially the friendly staff, pools and location. Unfortunately, I was injured before I arrived in Hawaii, but I was accommodated close to the elevators to help me get around easier. As I said earlier, the only problem which was minor was that we waited on elevators for awhile in some cases. Other than that, the hotel was very nice and if I get the opportunity to go to Hawaii again, I would try to stay there again.”

• This hotel was in a perfect location in Waikiki. Everything was in walking distance. It had many shops inside. The staff was friendly.
• Parking garage was very tight.

“The Marriott is in a fantastic location. It is within walking distance of the aquarium, the zoo, & the cheesecake factory restaurant. Of course, the beach is across the street. The Marriott itself is beautiful on the inside and many shops run throughout the towers for ease of entrance. Fantastic hotel for a stay in Honolulu.”

“The hotel was generally quite good however I would not say there was anything spectacular about it. One thing I should mention though. The service by the staff was absolutely pathetic. We went to the concierge twice for information on tours as well as restaurants around the area. On each occasion, they gave us incorrect information. In relation to the tours, she basically gave us no information at all. Effectively, she handed us the brochures and told us to read it for any information we wanted. We ended up going down the street and booking all our tours through another agent. That is really quite appalling for an alleged 5 star hotel. Apart from that, the room was extremely spacious and we were very happy with that. Also, we did very much appreciate that we were upgraded to a bigger room because we were on our honeymoon.”

• The view from our room was incredible.
• Overall, felt more like a hotel than a resort. It was listed as resort.

“This is a very nice hotel in a great location in Waikiki. The pool areas are just average, but many of the rooms have a fabulous view of Diamond Head. The bedding and cleanliness were superior and the staff outstanding. Overall I would classify this as a very nice 4-star hotel in a "resort" location. I prefer the Turtle Bay Hotel on the North Shore, which was absolutely outstanding in the same price range.”

• Convenient location, free street parking a short walk away.
• Very small room, soft bed, and small gym

“The rooms is quite small but looked like it's been recently refurbished, but the walls and carpet in the hallways could use some work. The bed is far too soft and provides no back support. The location is fairly good, the advantage being that there can be free parking on the street a block away on Oahu or Paoakalani streets.”

“Excellent location. 4* quality and service. Two decent family pools. Right on the water front. A large hotel which means the room you get could vary in terms of outlook and location. We got upgraded for free to an ocean view room which was fantastic. Staff were generally good. Concierge service not so knowledgeable/helpful and kept trying to sell things rather than offer great local tips.”

• Location is great. Many rooms have ocean views and it is very close to the shopping area, restaurants and late night venues.
• For parking, they do no validate. You pay at the desk and have to call security from the gate.

“The Marriott Waikiki is located right in the heart of the action. With many rooms having ocean views and a location a block from shopping or the beach, it is just right for anyone wanting the Waikiki experience.”

• Great location to beach and shopping, nice balconies with good views, lovely lobby, everything was clean, nice outdoor pool.
• Beds were very soft and non supportive, hotel rooms could use updating, long waits for elevators.

“Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Decent value for the area and price (USD 175 per night in August). Very large hotel. Waikiki was part of our honeymoon. Hotel was a good base for seeing Honalulu. Close to airport and highways. Parade was attached to the hotel. Lots of shopping nearby is across the street from the public beach. The beach area closest to the hotel is great for kids and families as it was enclosed with giant rocks and the water was shallow and very calm. Very nice beach, and its wasn't too busy. Husbands. Watch yourself. Lots of good looking women to look at... suggest dark sunglasses. avoid waiting in line for other restaurants, I recommend trying the hotel restaurants. Competitively priced to other medium to high end places. Good place for kids and business travelers. Not the most romantic place, but i don't think Waikiki fits that description either. We slept peacefully as there was not much noise. We were upgraded to an ocean front view. Very nice. The room is typical for the higher end places, but could use updating. Very clean. Didn't get a chance to use the fitness center, so I don't know if it was big or had updated equipment.”

• Returning each afternoon to a very clean room and getting help for the staff.
• Card key for room seem difficult to use at times.

“My wife and I were in Hawaii for 6 days and 5 nights and what a professional hotel. The staff was excellent and our room was even better than we expected. Our room had a view that was out of this world. There was little noise from the street below and we loved setting out on our balcony at night and loving the ocean breeze. We are ready to return, thanks Marriott for providing us a great vacation. Keep up the good work.”

• I requested a non-smoking room--the room was a smoking room.

“The hotel is in a lovely location which is convenient to the beach and shopping areas. Public areas are very clean. The rooms are clean. Bathrooms were quite small--definitely designed for the business traveler, not someone with family members.”
